On her way to the kitchen, taking a break from rebuilding the hallway where the rafters had collapsed like dominoes in the mansion attack a week earlier, Jubilee heard the hallway phone ringing. She knew that Professor X's office phone ringer was probably off, as he was very busy, and so she sighed and went to answer.

The ID coming up as "pay phone" was no surprise--not all of their friends and allies had cell phones, as many lost or destroyed electronics in battle or even in training, and thus, most X-Men carried a phone card to make calls from pay phones in a pinch.
