Characters: Tommy, Billy, Cassie, Teddy and Boom Boom!
Setting: Downtown NYC, just before lunch
Content: Things that go boom!
Summary: The thus far assembled Young Avengers need to talk seriously about the future. And we know that can't go on too long.
The Hulk episode had been traumatic, and seeing Tommy and Cassie in the hospital so battered and broken was not something Teddy could tolerate for very long. None of them should have been taking the Hulk head on, and the image of his friends tucked under the bleached sheets smelling sickly of disinfectant and the manufactured lemon and rose smell of the hospital was proof enough of that. If they had died for this world that they didn't even belong in, would it have been a waste, or a hero's death?
Teddy was undoubtedly proud of all of them, though, and proud to have befriended people with such courage and stubborn determination. But they really needed to talk about those traits. Cassie knew what she wanted, and from what Teddy could tell it would take a more convincing argument than any he could come up with to change her mind. He was at something of a disadvantage; he didn't really want to change her mind. He wanted Billy and Tommy to understand her point, and he wanted it to work out for all of them. And Teddy knew that was impossible.
So they needed to talk. He was bustled off of the bus, hands tucked away in his pockets, skipping around the rush of people until he could set off towards the diner with a constant, hawkish awareness of Billy and Tommy.
