So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye... Characters: Magnus, OT Sage? Setting: Athens Content: Nothing bad Summary: Magnus visits Athens
"Thank you again," the man said enthusiastically and shook Magnus' hand. With a polite smile Magnus nodded in farewell and put on his hat before stepping out into the street. He paused, trying to decide whether to return home or enjoy the city a little. His meeting had been successful- Genosha would soon be receiving an influx of Greek mutant immigrants and several of them had Brotherhood potential. Magnus had turned his attention to recruiting lately. There was strength in numbers, a fact which he had hitherto ignored.
The Master of Magnetism had changed his views on a lot of things lately, ever since his return from the other universe. The state of the other world had given Magnus a sense of clarity- he had to prevent the same out come here. The registration, which had seemed such an outrage, was only the start to what could be. Mutants killed and imprisoned, their powers subdued. It was unthinkable. If there were ever to be a war here, the mutants must win it. He would build his numbers, make Genosha a stronghold, and rally the mutant communities of the earth to his cause. Magnus must put his personal vendetta against his children on a back burner. His vengeance could not overshadow his dream, especially now that he knew the horrid possibilities. Humans were despicable.
In retrospect, Magneto had been going about everything all wrong. Destroying the SHIELD building for his own revenge had been, he hated to admit it, genuinely stupid. Imagine if they'd decided to punish the mutant population of New York City for what he had done. With the way Xavier's children were running amok, it was a miracle that there hadn't been worse persecution of mutants yet. But it was sure to come. So he must turn everything to his advantage. Every building destroyed must seem reactionary, every mutant wronged should look a champion, every mutant death ought to become a martyrdom. And Magnus must be patient and crafty and above all else careful. He must transform into the consummate leader- powerful, able, and trustworthy.
This did not mean of course that Magnus was giving up on his children; instead he'd found better focus. The twins still required punhishment and while Pietro could be forgiven, Wanda could not. Wanda must die, but Magnus realized he need not do the deed himself. There were quieter ways and perhaps, if he played his cards correctly, even his wayward daughter could serve as a martyr for the cause.
It was with plans swirling through his head that Magnus decided to stroll the streets and stop for coffee and admire the view. Athens was such a nice city.
