The bogeyman hardly got any of that out; it was bad enough that it was a creeping shadowmonster, knowing Tony's name is what really made Tony yelp and swing the hammer. It bounced off of Coulson's arm as Tony made to scramble away without any follow through, knowing half way through that motion that that was a real human person standing there, he was probably in trouble, and definitely in deep trouble now that he was hitting people with hammers. His second mistake was probably grabbing for the heavy bag instead of making a hasty exit, but deep trouble would absolutely escalate to profound shit if he not only was sneaking around and assaulting people, but found in possession of alcohol, too. Maybe he could throw it far enough away without Coulson noticing.
Tony tripped over it instead, and went sliding with it in tow underneath a table. These kind of up front, face to face encounters were really not his forte.
