If I ever wander on by could you flag me down and beg me-
Characters: Danny and Colleen
Setting: Afternoon of 2/11, around Manhattan
Content: Nothing questionable
Summary: Colleen and Danny hang out
After the second attempt on his life, Danny and Colleen were able to convince Lee to take a leave from the university. Which lasted about a week before he demanded to go back to work ("If you two can take stupid risks with your lives, so can I," he'd argued, and there wasn't much they could say against it). They asked a few other friends to keep an eye on him there, anyway, because he also insisted that if he saw either of them shadowing them he would move back into the brownstone and ban them both for treating him like a child. Lee had been back at work since Monday, and things seemed to be going well, it was definitely less tense at night now that Lee had some space and time away during the days. Danny liked having his place to himself for those hours, and he spent the first couple days enjoying the silence and the third at the office because his assistant kept calling him.
His morning had been meeting after meeting and paperwork and numbers in binders and by noon he decided he didn't want to be here anymore and called Colleen to ask if she wanted to have lunch. By the time she met him in the line at Sandwich House in the Financial District, he'd loosened his tie and had his expensive suit jacket hooked around a finger, hanging haphazardly over one shoulder. The line was nearly out the door, populated by workers from around the district taking their lunch breaks. This was one of Danny's favorite spots when he was at the office because it was cheap, close, and delicious. It didn't have much seating but he thought they might be able to snag a table and, worst case, they could go eat in his office. When he saw Colleen outside, he waved her in with a smile.
"Thanks for coming out, I always feel weird eating alone," he greeted her, and slipped an arm around her waist to show she was meant to be there, fending off the annoyed glances from people who thought she was trying to skip ahead. "And I didn't want to sit in the break room, people would've tried to chat." Not that he minded his employees, it was just that if he ever didn't look busy, people seemed to think it a good opportunity to try to give him more work. He'd even been ambushed by the head of Rand Corp.'s legal team at a urinal once. Eating alone at the office would've put a target on his back.
