Despite the context, Tony, surprisingly, didn't really need the processing time; Wanda might have used some esoteric language, but to Tony it rendered as a very uncomfortably familiar pattern. Still gently picking through the tangle of Wanda's hair like he would the rim of his coffee cup at a meeting, Tony took a breath like he was ready to respond, but anything he had to say seemed far too raw and personal now. He had been the one contextualizing wrong; maybe this wasn't so much like Jess' HYDRA problem.
"Happens to the best of us," Tony finally said, with a wry smile like that was obviously ridiculous and most people didn't have incantation translation problems; at worst, they ordered the wrong thing while on vacation. The smile wasn't going to last, though, so he powered through, "I've poked a lot of places I shouldn't have. You, for one. See, worse things can happen. Unless you were doing that, too, then, boy, I hope you got tested." That was slightly more abrasive than even Tony had intended, but now he was feeling prickly and could really use a coffee and a cigarette. "You've still got all your tubes, right, you're not on any diet restrictions?" he continued as though that had anything to do with anything, but it was worth checking because that demon wasn't really cautious about what it was puncturing.
