In the jungle, the mighty jungle- Characters: Stature and Hawkeye II Setting: Zoo in Brooklyn, late night Content: Violence Summary: Go home, Man-Ape, you're drunk!
Red and blue lights of police cruisers bathed the gated entrance to Brooklyn's zoo as officers milled about their cars, awaiting orders. There wasn't much to be done as they waited for a unit capable of handling the chaos that was, currently, still limited to the confines of the zoo's stone walls. Man-Ape, a superhuman who usually ran with villain for hire groups, was flying solo tonight and his aim was apparently to free all the animals. He'd holed himself up in the primate house, but not before he'd let lose a lot of frightened and dangerous animals to roam the twelve acres of enclosures, paved paths, and forest. Right now, officers couldn't get in there safely, but Man-Ape and his erratic behavior remained a real problem.
"Maybe the guy's joined PETA," joked the officer briefing a cape who'd shown up flashing a bounty hunter license and saying she was here to take down Man-Ape. The police department didn't officially encourage vigilantism, but since this one had legitimate papers, they might as well let her take a crack it while everyone else was twiddling their thumbs. Superhero-ing for pay wasn't anything they hadn't seen before, it was just a nice change of pace when someone did it legally.
Once she was informed of the situation, the masked girl told him she had her own backup on the way and then went to wait at the gates. Most of the guys waiting would probably be relieved a cape was handling it; nobody liked to deal with a superhuman. Give them a good old fashioned regular scumbag breaking the law any day. The officer got on his radio to relay the news, but he was interupted by a roar from somewhere over the walls, deep in the trees. An uneasy tension went through the police on the scene, wondering if the ungodly noise came from animal or Man-Ape.
