It was Nick, in the flesh, standing before her out of disguise for the first time in over a year. He met her gaze and shifted from foot to foot before he glanced up and down the hall and then back at her. "Hey baby-" was what he almost said but caught himself. "Hey Jessica." Nick cleared his throat, hating that unnerving way she was staring at him.
His thoughts turned to the last time they'd spoken, when he'd told her he loved her and then pretty much ended things. She'd seemed really pissed off about it, and Nick couldn't really blame her. He didn't expect her to be happy to see him and he wasn't here to ask for Jessica's forgiveness, he was just hoping he could make her understand his side now that everything was over and done with.
Although he knew he had no right to ask it, he did anyway, raising his eyebrows as he said, "Mind if I come in?" The longer he stayed out in this hall without a disguise, the more likely he was to get caught and that wasn't in the cards just yet as far as Fury was concerned. He still had a lot of work to do. "We've got a lot of shit to talk about."
