Once inside Namor immediately noticed the energy readings were now at the highest peak since they arrived in the region. Castle itself, though, seemed just as empty as the rest of the city had been. And there certainly wasn’t any sign of Doom yet. Nor any other living being. It was deathly quiet. Not even a single alarm blared at their presence which was an obvious relief. Still, Namor was on his guard. This place was the most fortified location on earth. The first place Namor directed them towards was the best place to start looking for Victor himself and that was the throne room. The Atlantean had been here on diplomatic visits and otherwise before and sort of knew his way about. “This way leads to the throne..” He directed as he turned down the main chamber that climbed up towards the main audience chamber.
That was where they started finding corpses. And what looked like scores of Doom-bots. All seemingly ripped apart at the core. The bodies seemed to be of Doom’s personal guard. All of them looked hideously slaughtered. The place stank of gunpowder and scorch marks littered the hall. It looked like whatever Doom had been facing had certainly mopped the floor with his army. A feat never before accomplished as far as Namor was aware. It didn’t bode well.
After checking the last of the guards for a pulse Namor turned and shook his head at Magneto. Everyone here at least was dead. It was only then that he heard a creaking noise in the back behind the throne. That path led to the laboratory. Perhaps someone was alive yet?
