This is the best thing that could've happened-
Characters: Cassie and Tony, then Cassie and Steve and hell, maybe I'll get in a thread with Peter in here later, too
Setting: Places around New York City
Content: Nothing questionable
Summary: It's Cap's birthday! So Cassie is going to see him.
Cassie hadn't seen Steve at all since she'd got back to New York, which totally sucked but they were both really busy. Up to the cure she was helping Peter and his people at the Empire State Building and, after, she helped them get to their respective homes and donned her mask to help out as Stature (everyone was calling her Giant Girl again, ugh) with street clean up. At night she crashed on the sofa at Peter's Aunt May's house and every morning she checked in with Tony over her handy dandy stolen radio like a good girl because she didn't want to mess stuff up with him already. After the helicarrier went down she was kind of glad she'd left it but felt so bad for the people on it and spent a couple days wading through the harbor trying to salvage stuff from that.
Manhattan was mostly cleared of cars and she intended to head out to the Bronx today to see what she could do there- after she saw Steve. It was Cap's birthday, after all, and she'd already been a huge jerk so there was no sense in adding missing Steve's birthday to her list of jerk offenses. She went to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters first, only to be refused entry (without Nick Fury to back her up, they didn't seem inclined to let a strange teenager with no credentials into the building). So she shrank down and she waited until someone else was allowed in. She hitched a ride on that guy's shoes and, once she was actually in the place and grown to normal size, no one seemed to question her being there- probably because they were all so busy and the door security was supposed to be good enough that they didn't have to worry. If the Helicarrier thing was any indication, their security generally needed an upgrade.
A search of the building didn't turn up Cap and she eventually started asking around until someone told her he'd said something about going to his studio. Maybe she should've just radio-ed Tony and saved her self some time but, oh well. She headed for midtown and the Bagel Shop that Steve had his studio above it. The walk took awhile but it was a good chance to see how things were going in the streets- better, but not great. They city was a really long way from great.
