Right, the seat belt. Kate fastened hers and held on to the assist handle, trying not to focus so much on how little space their truck had to move and how screwed they were if a tree decided to get in the way. It wasn't until they stopped that Kate started breathing again, and she also leaned back, hands covering her face. She could use a drink, she thought. A strong one.
"Good thing we went into this knowing it was a bad idea, right?" Kate chuckled halfheartedly. Not that it made her feel better, but at least they didn't have to exhaust any energy in being surprised. The fear and anxiety was taking enough of it already.
