All the public business now connects itself with intrigues-
Characters: Magneto, Mystique, Namor, Contessa
Setting: Genosha
Content: Nothing questionable
Summary: The first meeting of the Cabal
This debacle would be worthwhile simply for the entertainment value, or so Magnus told Raven when he'd informed her of his plan to invite his two unlikely allies (and far more likely enemies) for what amounted to a business luncheon on Genosha. He could think of no other way to describe the meeting beyond his private assumption that it would err on the side of a particularly entertaining farce. The event was to take place in a cozy second floor sun room with a stunning view of the city and the sea. He'd gone out of his way to play the consummate host, arranging a rather decadent lunch with delicacies that ought even to appeal to the fish king's delusional grandeur. Pretension was a trait Magnus suspected that La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine and Namor shared in common. He was most looking forward to watching their interactions, honestly.
Witnessing a power struggle- they'd be like two children squabbling over a toy- was well worth the effort of putting the meeting together. That they were both courting his alliance was simply a bonus; they might actually make some attempt to impress him (humility from Namor, now that would be a sight). They all had duplicitous motives, Magneto was fully aware of that, he was inviting a pair of snakes into his home. He'd dealt with worse, however, and he'd yet to have a reason to fear either one of them. There was no threat from the pathetic human with Nazi ties or the delusional self-proclaimed King of Atlantis. He could be as deceitful as either of them and probably more dangerous. Magnus would turn on them as willingly as he might ally with them. But there would be time for all that later, this was simply a meal and an opportunity for introduction among the villains. A perfect stage, really, and once the players arrived, the show could begin.
