Like at Halloween-
Characters: S.H.I.E.L.D. employees and agents and contract employees and stuff
Setting: A S.H.I.E.L.D. Halloween party
Content: Nick Fury
Summary: S.H.I.E.L.D. party so party shenanigans
No matter where you worked, from an accounting firm to a fast food restaurant to a government agency, holidays were an excuse for some stupid ass office party. S.H.I.E.L.D. was not excluded from this rule and that was why Nick was nursing a glass of bourbon standing with a throng of people he didn't even recognize in some expensive loft space the directorate shouldn't have been blowing money to book anyway. This was just some poor excuse for the fuckheads in the R&D to kiss ass for more funding while the secret agents got smashed and swapped classified information and some liquor fueled asshole invariably found the stones to tell Nick to his face what they thought of him. Sometimes Fury forgave them, sometimes they came to work the next day to find themselves summarily unemployed.
The difference between other holiday parties and this one was the fact that all the people were in costumes and the asshole who confronted Fury had been in a gorilla suit. Nick hadn't wanted to get dressed up, but he lost a bet to Daisy and Alex. At least he got to choose the costume; tonight Nick Fury was the Batman. He'd even had the suit made specially, no pansy cloth get up, this suit was fucking Kevlar and had a utility belt with holsters his favorite pistols. They couldn't expect the goddamned Batman to come to this thing unarmed anymore than they could expect it of Nick Fury. He even had batarangs which he was tempted to throw at some bitch dressed up like Raggedy Ann yammering on about the strain S.H.I.E.L.D. missions put on the financial department. Fury hated dealing with the bureaucratic and business side of his directorate. He downed his bourbon and turned to sidle back towards the bar. The Batman didn't need to deal with this shit.
