Dinosaurs lived a long time ago.
Characters: Fury and his Caterpillars
Setting: Codename Dino Island (a tiny island in the Indian ocean)
Content: Nick Fury and Daisy Johnson so expect a full swear jar
Summary: Fury wants to find out what nefarious goings-on are happening behind the scenes at a dinosaur preserve
"It isn't fucking Jurassic Park," Nick repeated for what felt like the hundredth time, but he was pretty sure his team wasn't even listening. Like he was really going to get a bunch of teenagers to give a shit about what he had to say when he was taking them to an island full of dinosaurs. It wasn't like places with live dinosaurs were anything new (there were stories about Genosha before it was settled), but somehow it still fascinated people. Whatever, dinosaurs were pretty low on Nick's list of weird shit. What concerned him were rumors of some A.I.M. laboratory outpost on this tiny little dinosaur island, which was a wildlife habitat protected by the United Nations (fucking dinosaurs) that allowed no outside interference.
Except, most wildlife preserves didn't execute trespassers on sight- a fact about this particular one that had always rubbed Nick the wrong way. Even as the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. he'd been shut down by government officials whenever he'd proposed an investigation because the pussies didn't want to step on any U.N. toes. Nick didn't give a fuck, he'd walk right over them in steel-toed boots. There had been other, more pressing, priorities but now that he suspected HYDRA involvement he wasn't going to keep this pet project on the back burner anymore. It was time to see what the hell was really going on in Dino island.
"Remember, use tech jammers when you see cameras, watch for traps. This is recon so if you spot an enemy try not to engage unless necessary and do not- I repeat- do not fuck with any dinosaurs," he instructed as he cut the motor on their boat and gestured for one of the kids to drop the anchor. "Five hundred feet to shore, there's a rock outcropping with a small cave. Discard your wetsuits there and get them on your way back. We can't leave any trace." He took one last look at his caterpillars and hoped to hell none of them got gored by a T-Rex. Oh well, just one of them any hazards of being one of Fury's super secret special ops team. As he snapped on his night-vision underwater goggles and tipped backwards into the water it finally occurred to him that he hadn't actually asked if any of them could swim.
