Wanda didn't really have to say anything beyond 'Clint' for Tony to grin and snort with a knowing nod. The only candidate worse than Clint to put in charge of a new endeavour of such a massive scale was Quicksilver, and Pietro could at least be relied upon to listen to his sister's advice. Clint might have been talented and sharp when he wanted to be, but most of the time he wanted to be stubborn and arrogant. That, and the cost of it, was something Tony knew very well, but he didn't claim to be the leader type.
"You know what that sounds like?" he asked, still grinning, and now a little dangerously. "When you and Pietro first came to Malibu with me..." he trailed off, raising his eyebrows and knowing she must have known where this was going. "For the next year it was like you did everything you could think of to drive me crazy." Maybe she didn't see it the same way and maybe Clint really was just being an asshole to her, but they had been friends and Wanda couldn't refuse to factor in her own wild streak. When it was your responsibility to make sure she didn't get herself kidnapped or arrested it wasn't so easy to be friends. Tony took a step away from her before she could protest, possibly physically, and insist that she had been a very good girl on the west coast, raising his hands in surrender with his statement closed and completed. It was just a thought, he wasn't going to argue with her.
