The less you know-
Characters: Open to everyone in NYC
Setting: All over New York City, mid-morning
Content: Catastrophe! And probably cursing
Summary: The whole of New York has their super powers swapped
Notes: So your posts here can be stand alone reactions or if you think your character would be with/seek another out, then feel free to have threads. Assume throughout the week that previously-normal citizens are going nuts and wreaking havoc with their powers if you want to go out heroing or villaining or whatever it is you crazy kids call it these days. Not all civilians were suddenly given powers, it was random- there can only be as many powered normies (new word!) as there were super-people to lose or swap theirs. If that makes sense. Shhh, accept the mystery. Anyway, there will be an end post for reactions next Saturday. Don’t kill anyone (unless, you know, that’s how you do). Enjoy!
Agent 19 strolled into a laboratory at the Baxter Building wearing a lab coat with a pocket protector and looking like he definitely belonged here, of course, don’t doubt it for a second. Really, Agent 19 looked as if he belonged everywhere. That was why he was so damned good at being a spy (which was both a blessing and a curse, particularly when he had to go undercover in some particularly shitty day job). This gig at the Baxter Building posing as a lab tech had been pretty nice and, after he finished his objective today, he’d have to leave it. It was kind of a shame, but he did as the General asked and the General had asked for this glowing glass rock thing. Although he was curious, Agent 19 knew better to expect any kind of explanation after he handed it over. Whatever, this was still a more interesting mission than following the Avengers around.
The alien rock was being kept in a small containment chamber that Agent 19 just happened to have the pass code for. A few numbers punched on a keypad and he was in, reaching out to take the thing and slip it into his pocket. What he hadn’t expected was that it would be hot to the touch. He hardly had it in his fingers before he dropped it. Oops. The thing actually fractured when it hit the floor and a palpable wave of energy rippled from it, passing through all of the objects in the room and out into the world beyond.
An alarm started blaring and the agent didn’t have time to consider any possible consequences of his clumsy mistake. The General would probably still want the thing and it was time to get the hell out. He picked it up gingerly from the floor and, finding it was suddenly cooled, quickly left the lab. He tried to maintain an innocent expression as he joined the group of people heading for the stairs to evacuate. None of them seemed particularly concerned- weird energy fluctuations were pretty much a daily occurrence around this place. Super-powered shenanigans made his job so much easier.
