RETRIBUTION Event 07 Characters: Open to everyone! Setting: New York City Content: Bug Killin', probably cursing, violence Summary: THE BUGS HAVE ATTACKED NEW YORK CITY!!! Notes: Okay, so I'm setting this up with three comments of DAY ONE, DAY TWO, DAY THREE. Make sure your posts on each day are a REPLY to the day its set in. Also, in your first comments subject line, put where you are ("Homebase" at Stark Enterprises Long Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc) and who your thread is open to. Organization, I must have it! Those involved in the Queen Killing (which will be its own post on Monday) may be in Day One or Two of the NYC attack, but not Day Three since they'll be in Siberia. Also, you're allowed to be involved in as many threads as you like.
It was just after midnight when they struck, dropping from strange craft in the sky. The only warning of their approach was that the instruments meant to detect them suddenly stopped working. As if the Bugs dropping over the city weren't quite enough, there was also the well placed distraction of Russian troops landing from the sea, apparently in complete cooperation with the alien invaders. For all their preparation and defensive measures, the forces were overwhelming, and the military was forced to fall back to a base to plan their next move. City dwellers attempted alternately to evacuate or barricade themselves in their homes. By dawn the streets were swarming with Bugs and Russians, tanks and military vehicles, and Nick Fury tried to organize the city's superheroes. The S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters was one of the first places attacked and Fury chose to move to another location rather than hunker down in the midst of a battle zone. The chosen location for the superhero "homebase" was, at Tony's behest, the Long Island Campus of Stark Enterprises. It was out of the way of the main assault, had good security, and was conveniently filled with dangerous gadgets. All in all, it was pretty ideal. It was here that Nick set up a S.H.I.E.L.D. command center and put out the call to the city's superheroes to aid in defense of their home.
