Bella at home Who: Bella and a visitor (or two) if anyone is willing. Maybe Edward? Maybe Jacob? Maybe even Alice when she gets her profile in? I’m talkin’ to you, Janis! :D What: Finishing up dinner with Charlie Where: Swan residence in Forks When: Directly after the blissful day in the meadow in Confessions Note: Since we don’t have a Charlie, I’ll be using him as a sort of NPC. If you join in on this thread you can feel free to write him, as well.
Metal utensils clinked against the glass plates Bella had served the food on. It wasn’t a gourmet dinner - Just frozen cheese raviolis heated up in spaghetti sauce Bella had bought by the can, but, as always, Charlie was pleased. He wasn’t much in the kitchen.
The two of them had quieted down since she’d come home. At first it was the usual prodding with vague questions like ‘How was your day?’ to which Bella had answered an equally vague ‘Nice.’
It had been much more than that, of course. Edward had trusted her with another detail, showing her how his perfect alabaster skin, so much like marble or crystal, glittered in the sun. She was stunned, at first, just like she’d imagined any other human being would be, but then utterly captivated by something she didn’t really understand. Bella wanted to know everything there was to know about vampires, but more than that she wanted to know everything there was to know about Edward in specific.
Charlie gave Bella a thoughtful, but warm, smile and it seemed as if he might have been trying to read her mind for a second. He slid his chair away from the table to allow himself distance to stand and picked his dishes up from the table. Bella followed suit, but when she went to put her dishes in the sink for rinsing he reached out and stopped her.
“Don’t worry about the dishes, Bell.” He smiled, collecting the utensils and dish from her hands. “I’ve got that much down pat.”
“Thanks, dad,” Bella smiled in response with a nod. “I think I’m going to take on that required reading.” She nodded in the direction of her room where she’d left her backpack and all of the homework inside of it. Charlie nodded understandingly and he and his daughter parted ways - Him to rinse the dishes and she to read her book.
