Lisa had finally been cleared for discharge from St. Mungos, nearly five weeks after the Battle of Hogwarts and the end of the war. She still wasn't allowed to apparate, or fly a broom, or lift anything heavy. Honestly, with her right shoulder still feeling a bit stiff and with the re-knitted bones in her left foot still getting twinges of pain every so often, she wouldn't want to. Of greatest concern, of course, was her concussion. Not much that magic could do to help with traumatic brain injuries, after all. She had homework - a booklet of memory and pattern exercises to help her back up to her usual quickness, and she was dizzy very rarely now, so she was mostly just excited to get out of the hospital and not all that worried about her continued recovery.
Marie had been unable to get out of work for the day, and so Kenneth arrived alone as she was packing the last of her things in the satchels the hospital had provided. It amazed her how much stuff she had accumulated in a month. There were vases from flowers - she was donating those to the hospital - cards and letters and photos and frames and stuffies and leggings and fuzzy pj pants and no less than four hoodies. Kenneth was a good tempered, generally quiet man. He and Lisa had always had a special bond - perhaps born of their magical blood, but more likely due to their shared interests and confidences. Lisa was already dreading seeming her mum, who had fought her hard about leaving Paris and returning to Hogwarts to fight. Marie had tried to physically restrain Lisa, and the teenager had (somewhat accidentally?) used a defensive spell against her. Lisa had never used magic against her muggle mother before. It had mostly been an accident. Not long after the battle, Lisa had received a letter at the hospital from the Ministry of Magic Misproper Use of Magic Office that explained her Father had testified on her behalf and the charges had been dropped. And Marie had only been in to see her a couple of times since she'd stopped being sedated. Before then, Lisa had been assured, Marie had been quite a bit. Tonight would be tense, for sure.
Kennth cleared his throat and informed her, "So we'll be going back to the house in Leeds tonight. I went by yesterday and had cleaners come for the dust and such. Your mother will be joining us this weekend, she's wrapping up a few things in Paris this week." Lisa cocked her head.
"I thought Mom was back to the firm this week, that's why she couldn't make it." It wasn't a question. The same hardness that nearly always came through her voice when speaking of Marie was omnipresent there.
"No, she's finalizing things with her private clients this week - she's swamped with that." Lisa couldn't help but think good save and gave her father a look that said as much.
"Well, I'm almost finished." She said, and added, "I just need to change if you'll step out?" After he had stepped away from her bed, telling her he'd get them each a tea for the train from the cafe at the main floor - stupid public muggle transport and all - she drew her sheets and just lie back in her bed with a sigh. She was so excited when they told her she'd be going home, but now... Well, it didn't feel much like a homecoming.
