Yuuta had been packing up the last few term papers, with the intention of taking an early afternoon and getting some time to himself, when his TA knocked on the office door. Evie walked in, and put one of the term papers that he had assigned her to grade on the desk.

"It sounds really familiar, and I can't place it." She looked worried, confused and a bit frustrated.

Yuuta thumbed through the paper, skimming, noticing striking similarities to a couple of C.S. Lewis' essays. "I'll take this one." He dismissed her with a nod, keeping the papers separate from the rest of the ones he needed to grade. The essay, in parts was nearly word for word one of the essays he hadn't assigned for this term, but one Yuuta was fond of assigning. He headed down to the university library, paper in hand.

The book of essays in question had been removed by a student, and no matter how much Yuuta bargained with the library attendant she wouldn't give him the name of the student who had checked it out.

Mood growing increasingly darker with each step, Yuuta headed down to the public library. He muttered, in undertone at a few of the books. The essays in the library were contained in three different books, and it took a few minutes to track them all down. He set his briefcase on one of the tables, essay in front of him, combing through the books to find the passages this particular student had lifted.

Who: Sophie Finucan and Lyneth Walter
When: Late morning
Where: The streets of Ocean Cove, and the library
What: Research and somewhat unappreciated sunlight
Rating: PG
Status: In progress

The light had filtered in slowly through her bedroom window, and while pleased about the prospect of another day, today was one of those days where natural light was not her friend. Sophie groaned, grabbing one of her pillows and rolling over with her face pressed into it, cursing the activities of the night previous. It had been a quiet evening and she had enjoyed it by herself filled with reading, cooking, and writing, but it had included almost an entire bottle of red wine, and she was regretting the consumption of it.

Suck it up, princess, she thought to herself as her eyelids slowly fluttered open. You have work to do. C’mon. Get up.

“No. Get stuffed,” Sophie muttered to herself as she buried her face even more into her pillow. After a moment, she let out a sigh. “Oh, all right.”

Throwing the covers off of herself, Sophie sat up quickly and planted her feet on the cold, hardwood floor in her bedroom, letting the sensation work its way up from the soles of her feet to the tips of her fingers. She stretched and yawned, and decided her first course of action needed to be aspirin. Yes, aspirin.

She got ready for the day quickly, sparing no time in the shower to simply enjoy the warm spray of the water, and decided to forgo doing her hair, instead pulling back the mess of curls into a loose ponytail. Getting dressed into a simple long sleeved black shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, and a pair of leopard print flats, Sophie grabbed her bag (filled to the brim and heavy with notebooks, pens, and other odds and ends) and headed out the door.

Sophie had committed to dedicating the day to research. Sure, she knew a bit about supernatural beings, but only knew what she knew about The Cove from what she had heard “through the grapevine.” What she didn’t know was everything else. While Sophie didn’t intend on necessarily “shopping around” her idea (all of the papers in town were likely to already have someone covering what was happening), she would be foolish to not research and learn as much about The Cove and the supernatural creatures that resided there.

The library being only a short walk from her apartment hadn’t been planned when Sophie had put her deposit down on the small one bedroom, but it was certainly proving to be useful. It was a nice enough day for a walk, but the sun was still far too bright and unforgiving considering her hangover. Sophie began rifling through her bag, looking for a pair of sunglasses in an almost desperate manner, as if her life depended on it.
