Hayate wasn't the only one who was possessive, though he expressed it in much different ways than Chris did. The girl wasn't violent, but she did get angry at the idea of her vampire holding hands with some other girl. Why wouldn't she get upset over it, especially after the things they had done together and the fact that he asked her to be in a relationship?
She felt oddly satisfied that she was able to incite such an angry response out of him; at least now he would know what she had been feeling for the past few days. She wanted him to feel the sting of jealousy, too, and it was the only reason she went up to the boy she did not know. He wasn't even someone she would consider cute, but he would do. Chris only needed a hand to hold for a moment, long enough to get Hayate to make a definite move.
The moment came when he pulled her hand away from the stranger's, and growled at him to leave. Chris glared at Hayate just as he scowled at her. Their eyes only met for an instant, though the gaze felt like it lasted much longer. Her chest was heaving, and before she knew it Hayate had grabbed her around the waist and was carrying her away over his shoulder.
"Let me go! Let me go!" She said as her fists pounded themselves against his back. She wiggled her legs as if she were trying to get free, but there wasn't much effort behind her moves. Chris wasn't actually trying very hard to get away from the vampire, and he would have guessed it from the first hit she delivered to his body. She let out another squeal in protest, though she was secretly enjoying the way Hayate was carrying her away.
