Apparently, staring at Hayate intently was all she needed to get his attention. The corner of her lip twitched as if she were about to smirk, but she stopped herself when she saw him approaching. Anger was written all over his face, the same with hers, and it was palpable to all those around them.
Chris's chest was heaving with every breath she took, and before Hayate reached her she stomped her right foot against the ground and let out an aggravated squeal. It was directed at the vampire, one that distinctly showed that she was very very upset at him. Chris huffed like a petulant child, and then turned on her heel to stomp away from Hayate. She didn't look over her shoulder at him, too furious as the memory of him holding another girl's hand echoed in her mind.
She had to get back at him for that; had to get him to feel what she felt. The young girl's eyes roamed the crowd until she found a boy standing in the distance. She ran up to the strange boy, and grabbed his hand without even asking.
"What are you doing?" The stranger demanded as Chris dragged him along the walkway.
"I'm holding your hand," she said angrily. "What does it look like I'm doing?" Chris didn't leave any room for argument as she cast a venomous stare at him. The boy kept his mouth shut and allowed Chris to pull him along until she stopped suddenly.
"See this!" She said as she turned around with the boy to face Hayate. She held their hands in the air, displaying it for everyone, but particularly the vampire. "I can hold other people's hands, too!"
