How could she have doubted him? Zach was the one person (apart from her family) who never failed to come through when it came to important things. It meant the world to her that he thought of her enough to set up a 'castle' inside of his room to celebrate her birthday; besides, this was the first time they got to spend it together, the same with his birthday a couple of months earlier.
Adrienne entered the palace, her eyes lighting up even more when she saw the birthday cake and the cozy set up within. She settled down next to her boyfriend, cuddling up close to him and feeling more content than ever. She didn't have to do anything else or get anything else; spending time with Zach would have been enough for Adrienne. "This is wonderful," she said as she rested her head against his shoulder. "You're amazing," she added with a happy sigh.
She leaned forward after a few moments and closed her eyes as she thought of something to wish for, but the truth was that she had everything she wanted right here with her. There was one thing she would have liked to have, but no amount of wishing would have been able to bring her mother back to her. As it were, she was more content that she had ever been in her life and she only wished it would stay like that. And there it was, her wish, and she put all of her belief and faith into it as she blew out the candles of her cake.
Adrienne opened her eyes, smiling that she had successfully put out all the little flames. She turned her head to look at Zach, and reached her hand up to cup his cheek. "I love you," she said before she leaned in to plant a kiss upon his lips.
