Adrienne ([info]cursedwithfur) wrote in [info]nosuchtimes,
Adrienne was a year older today, but that didn't bring down her spirits the way it did with some women. She had woken up to her father and brother wishing her a 'Happy Birthday', both of them covering her with hugs and well-wishes. Her father had made her breakfast as a gift, while her brother had gotten her a new scarf and hat. It wasn't much, but it was all the girl needed from her family.

Though she loved her family dearly Adrienne was looking forward to spending time with Zach on her birthday. This would be the first time she got to spend her birthday with her boyfriend, and she was hoping they could do something special. But the constant rain brought that idea to a quick end. She had been afraid that he wouldn't come over to see her, but he surprised her (as usual) when he showed up at her cottage in the early afternoon. He wished her a 'Happy Birthday', coupled with a kiss, and spent the remainder of the afternoon and evening with her in her room. It wasn't until after the sun had set did the couple make their way over toward Zach's cottage.

Adrienne wasn't the type of girl who expected gifts on her birthday, but she couldn't help but be a little bit disappointed as the day wore on. Even after they arrived at Zach's place the alchemist hadn't brought out any surprise treats or gifts, and Adrienne began to wonder if he even cared at all. It wasn't that she needed presents or anything, but she at least thought that he would have done something. She sighed dejectedly, sitting alone on the couch in the living room as she stared out the window. The rain was hypnotic, and Adrienne didn't even notice that Zach had gone upstairs to his room for a few moments.

She turned when Zach beckoned her, a small smile on her face. "What is it?" She asked him as they traveled up the stairs. At this point she really wasn't expecting anything since it was already nighttime. "Did you make something new at the alchemy labs or something?" He didn't answer her though; the only thing he did do was open the door to his room revealing the surprise he had set up.

Adrienne's eyes widened as her lips curled into a smile. It was a tent of sheets, set up to look like a castle. It reminded her of some of the sleep overs she attended when she was a little kid. Houses and castles made out of blankets and sheets, except this was ten-times better. She turned to look at Zach - she should've known better than to doubt him - and threw her arms around his neck. "It's so cute," she said happily. "And wonderful." She pulled back a little, just enough to look him in the eyes. "I kinda thought that you didn't get me anything," she admitted sheepishly. "I'm sorry."
