Nico and Umeko
Who: Nico and Umeko

Where: Ancient ruins
What: A picnic date

Nico hadn't had a proper date since... well fuck, he didn't know since when, but it had been a long damn time. He was looking forward to spending more time with the cute girl who turned into a panda. They had an interesting first meeting, and then an interesting lunch afterward where they talked about pranks and made other plans. Other plans as in their date. He was glad (or was he lucky?) that she agreed to go on a date with him. Nico had joked with her that it was the necessary payment to keep his mouth shut about her panda pranking secret.

Hopefully, she hadn't agreed to the date just for that reason. He really hoped that wasn't the only reason, and that maybe she was really interested in him. Nico was beginning to feel lonely lately; not that he hadn't spent enough time with his friends (because he had), but he hadn't had a proper girlfriend in forever, and he wanted to have a special person to spend time with. Zach had Adrienne, and Loki had Mits, so why couldn't he have someone?

He didn't tell any of his friends his feelings, though. It was a secret, one that was necessary if he was going to keep up his image of being a flirt and a player. Deep down though, Nico wanted to have a relationship. Seeing the ones his friends had made him realize that. But! He wasn't going to reveal those cards just yet.

Nico picked Umeko up at her cottage, and together they rode out toward the ancient ruins. He had been there before with Zach, and so he was familiar with the lay of the land. Nico had packed a decent sized lunch for the both of them, and it was packed securely in the bags that his horse carried. They found a spot by one of the fallen pillars, and Nico set up the blanket and the food for them to begin.

"I don't know about you," he said when he was done. "But I'm starving! Let's eat!" He sat down quickly, but waited for Umeko to join him before he started digging into the food.

The last "officially named" date Umeko had been on was in the old office she had worked at. She had a crush on a co-worker and for fun they had a date under a desk and ate gummy worms and French fries while talking about the next great gaming project. Total nerd alert but it was one of her most fond memories. Now she was going on an ‘official’ date here in the sanctuary? How awesome was that!?

The therianthrope wasn’t one for letting herself look nervous but when she saw Nico approaching she actually felt her stomach start to feel a little funny. No, it wasn’t because she was hungry. I was because she was starting to remember how fun the other day was. A potential fellow prankster who was cute? Not to mention he seemed like the type of guy Umeko could easily be comfortable around. Umeko took a breath before she approached Nico and followed him towards the ancient ruins. Of course along the way she hoped she wasn’t underdressed. She figured a nice sweater and jeans was enough. I mean, it was a picnic and boys were boys.

When they sat down she took out a ham and cheese sandwich and gave him a playful eye. “I’m totally three steps ahead of you, bub. I probably am hungrier than this horse!” Umeko had no shame admitting she was a pig. Hey, if she was going to like a guy, he may as well know her quirks.

She at least was “ladylike” enough to not talk with her mouth full and after she drank a good amount of hot chocolate she asked Nico a curious question. “Hey, you know you didn’t have to do all of this. What’s up? There aren’t bugs in the food or anything is there?” She quirked up a brow and started inspecting her sandwich.

Nico wasn't overly dressed for his date with Umeko, and her choice of a sweater and jeans coordinated perfectly with his own jeans and a long-sleeved tee-shirt. The sprite thought the therianthrope looked absolutely adorable, and he had been looking forward to this date since they had planned it. Nico wasn't trying to be serious or anything, but he did want to show Umeko a good time.

It hadn't come up in their prior conversation that Umeko was a game designer. Had Nico known that, he might've kissed the girl right on the spot. The matter of age didn't come up either, but it didn't take precedence in this case. Nico and Umeko got along, and wasn't that all that truly mattered in relationships? The sprite, however, wasn't thinking about all of that at that moment as he smirked at Umeko, who was now eating a sandwich. Nico liked a girl who had an appetite, and wasn't afraid to show it! He had always thought it was annoying when a girl ordered a salad on a date and nothing more. How the fuck was anyone supposed to get full off a salad?

Nico couldn't help but smirk at her question, which only made him look guilty even though he wasn't. He finished chewing the food in his mouth, and took a sip of his drink before he answered her. "Dude, there's nothing in the food. Trust me." He chuckled a bit, and took another bite of his sandwich. "Seriously, I just did all of this because you're a cute girl." Nico was always a bit blunt when it came to how he felt about a girl; but then again, he had a penchant for thinking that every girl was cute or good-looking. But there was truly something about Umeko that Nico liked beyond her looks.
