Who: Everyone
When: 5:00 PM
Where: The docks
What: The arrival of the Elven Ship

The news of the arrival of the Elven ship had been the talk of the haven for the past couple of weeks. The Head Council had organized a group to prepare for its arrival, expanding upon the docks and decorating it the best they could even with the seemingly non-stop rain showers. At the end of the two weeks were completely re-vamped docks, one that could accommodate the smaller boats that occasionally traversed the lake while now big enough to handle the large ship that was due very soon.

The ship hadn’t arrived in the morning, the current storms outside the valley no doubt delaying it by a few hours. It was well into the afternoon before the guard in the tower by the shore yelled out from his post announcing that the ship had been sighted just entering the valley. It was a large vessel even though it was far on the horizon. The sun was only just beginning its descent in the sky, and the orange glow was reflecting brightly off the clouds. The white sails of the Elven ship billowed in the wind that was carrying it to the docks. It was a beautiful sight, and the people that had gathered by the docks were waving happily to the people on board.

It was a happy occasion for the haven since it was the first attempt at travel after the outbreak of the virus and the war. The excitement in the air was palpable as the crowd grew more and more boisterous the closer the grand ship came to them. Some started cheering and whooping into the air, others began talking animatedly about the sorts of people the ship was bringing with them. It was an event that most of Elysium had come out to participate in, and it would not be forgotten for many years to come.

Who: Nathaniel, Voe and party guests! Seating arrangements!
When: seven o'clock
Where: Nathaniel and Voe's forest cottage
What: the dinner party.

Nathaniel checked that the chicken was cooking nicely in the oven and estimated that it was going to be ready in about ten minutes, which would give the guests plenty of time to arrive for the meal. A combination of excitement and nervousness rushed through his veins, but he managed to keep it contained under a mask of a cool face. He set the table with good china and the fine silver utensils Voe had let him borrow, as well as proper and ornate wine glasses. How on earth did she manage to bring all of this with her? Some questions were better left unanswered.

He walked back to the living room where Dione sat on one of the sofas - he'd picked her up at her house and escourted her back to the forest cottage, making idle conversation along the way. "May I get you anything to drink while we're waiting?" he asked. "Wine, maybe?" He had no idea if she drank alcohol, so perhaps he should offer an alternative. "There's also water or tea." Not so many options, but it was better than nothing. Idly, Nathaniel ran a hand through his newly shortened hair. Voe had helped him cut his hair and he'd trimmed his beard for the occasion, so he didn't look half bad... if he were to pay attention to appearances as such.

At first when Nathaniel told Voe about the dinner party, she was skeptical. He hardly seemed like the type to host such a gathering and might not have the ability to do so. He was her ally, though, so he had to prove otherwise to her. All doubts vanished from her mind when he told her that he invited Janus. Another opportunity to see him again made anything worth it and she decided to help him as much as possible. This meant providing glasses and utensils and even helping him cook (namely, telling him when the food bubbled and was about to burn).

And then there was this strange woman that Nathaniel brought home as their first guest. She had haunting silver eyes - because she was blind, Volcano told her - and reminded Voe of a moth she'd seen fluttering about in the bomb shelter in which she grew up. That would be her name, she decided, and let Nathaniel keep the woman company while she hovered between the kitchen and making sure that everything was truly elegant and perfect. She smoothed the skirt of her dress, checked her hair in the mirror and made sure that her posture was perfectly straight. Now all they had to do was wait for people to arrive.

Who: Marit and Emily
Where: The Plancks' cottage
When: afternoon
What: tea and talking.

Emily hummed to herself as she took the small trunk out of the storage closet and carried it into the living room in preparation for Marit's visit. She looked forward for their afternoon tea and she hoped that they might have a more pleasant conversation instead of talking about someone who was killed. Then there was the whole situation with Echo and Charlie getting drunk at the festival, which she still didn't really know how to handle. Teenagers - she remembered what it was like to be one, but she had to set some boundaries. Chris was running off to meet some friend, Echo and Charlie drank too much and who knows what else would they do? To make matters worse, she rarely saw Malcolm and he seemed worried or --- she didn't know what.

These thoughts were a lot to process on such an afternoon, so Emily went over to the stove to put water in the kettle to boil. She reached into the cabinet to pull out a covered plate of scones she made for the occasion. Part of her was guilty for wasting so many supplies on snacks, but baking calmed her down. She needed a guide, anyone who was able to help her get through these next few years raising teenagers because otherwise she might implode with nerves. No, she couldn't worry; she had a guest arriving at any moment and there were exciting sewing plans to be had!

Emily sat cross-legged on the sofa, thumbing through a book she had little intention of reading. She tossed it to the side and dug through her trunk to choose a couple pieces of fabric she found particularly meaningful. One was from the dress Echo wore as a one-year-old and the other was apparently from her mother's favorite blouse. She wanted to put those into a quilt and with the colors, she hoped that Marit had some pieces of fabric to contribute to it. No doubt if that were possible, they'd create something wonderful.

Who: Open to All
Where: Halfway along the eastern edge of the saltwater lake, directly west of the Abandoned Elven Palace
When: Morning
What: Startling discoveries

ooc: This post is open for ALL people who wish to be a part of this. React in the way your character normally would. There is no right or wrong way to do this scene, just go with it and have fun!

The sounds of the Autumnal Festival echoed until the early morning hours of the next day. There were still some revelers about, drinking wine and playing in the leaves. Some of them were naked – having too much wine did that sometimes – and dancing around without a care in the world. Others were content to just pass out wherever they might have fallen until the effects of the alcohol left their system. All in all, the festival was a success.

Morning dew clung to leaves like small, crystalline jewels and the world smell like an odd mixture of wine and fresh, morning air. The festival grounds were littered with debris, but the fauns and their volunteers weren’t worried about cleaning up the mess just yet. They had to recover from their celebration first – cleaning could be done at any time. Despite the left over party goers, and the sounds of animals awakening in the forest there was a slightly eerie feeling that lingered everywhere.

Perhaps it was due in part to the fog that hovered near the ground this morning. It lingered around the bottoms of trees, and completely covered low lying bushes and shrubs. Some things would have gone completely unnoticed because of it! Thankfully, as the sun rose in the sky so too did the fog.

And then the fog lifted... )

Who: Everyone!
Where: Just outside of Helicharis at the Festival Grounds
When: 6 PM till ??
What: Autumnal Equinox Festival - It's the first day of Autumn!

ooc: To join in on the festivities, simply comment to the main post. Your entry can be a narrative or open to others. If you are replying to someone else reply to their comment and not to the main post. All activities are open for participation, it is up to your discretion what your character will do.

The past week had been nothing but preparations for the coming equinox that would herald the new season. It was a happy time for the forest creatures as they were the ones that spent hours on end setting up the grounds for the joyous celebration. Wooden lamp posts lit with orange flames bordered the area as well as throughout the entire festival grounds. Each attendee was greeted with a flower garland for their head, neck, or wrist if they desired one.

Fairies had decided to attend this festival as well because of the bright colors that had attracted their attention. There were bonfires all throughout the festival as well and they added warmth to the cool night air. The fiery glow that came from each pyre added a comforting feel to the entire atmosphere, and there were many fauns and fae dancing around each one in a happy manner. They were singing songs and laughing joyously as they pulled passers-by into their happy circle.

Musical fauns played their instruments as they marched through the festival. Fae and fairies flew around the traveling group, singing and humming to the music that resonated in the air. A large stage was set up for those who wished to perform in front of a large crowd be it with singing or acting or any other sort of talent they possessed. There were shows held as well, particularly by those who possessed magic and wished to entertain the crowd for an hour or tow.

Food and drink tables were set up nearby to feed the many attendees with whatever they could think to eat. And wine, they couldn't forget about the wine! There were scantily clad fae handing out the intoxicating liquid to everyone with a free hand. The wine this year was extremely potent and anyone with a weak constitution would no doubt get inebriated with just one cup.

The southern part of the festival held the games geared toward the young or simply the young at heart. Barrels were available for those who wished to roll down hills, piles of leaves were created for those who wanted nothing more than to jump and play in them. Colored sparklers were handed out freely and there were even pegasus rides for anyone who wanted to soar through the skies. There were contests here as well, simple ones that had participants bobbing for apples and fruits and curious prizes, searching for toys in piles of hay, and even pinning horns on a wooden faun.

Contests were set up again as they were just a month earlier. Archery contests and wrestling matches, potato sack and three-legged races. There were various game booths set up as well, such as knife throwing and ring tossing. There was even an area set up for pie eating contests and a Dwarven ale contest where participants could try to out-drink a dwarf.

Fireworks exploded periodically throughout the night and the gleeful sounds of the festival echoed all around. Elysium was a joyful place tonight as citizens celebrated the equinox beneath the near-full moon.

Who: Everyone!
When: 6:30 PM
Where: The Beach, by The Tiki Hut
What: Zane and Amada's Wedding Reception!

OOC: Everyone is welcome to join the party! Start a new sub-thread to interact with others, or keep an eye out for open sub-threads for you to join! Or if you don't feel like interacting, type up a narrative for your character.

The sun's rays shining out from below the horizon signaled the start of the wedding reception to celebrate Zane and Amada's happy nuptials. The area around Loki's Tiki Hut was set up with festive tiki torches that illuminated the entire area all the way down to the rim of the lake. Each lamp was entwined in green vines and white flowers, and the sand here was also 'planted' with green grass to add to the tropical theme. The tables were decorated with floating candle and flower centerpieces and around each centerpiece were several glass blown wedding favors in the shape of sail boats. Each table also had small boxes of clamshell shaped chocolate for everyone to enjoy.

Soft music lingered in the air and though the night sky was filled with stars some of the fae-folk had enticed lightning bugs to come out and provide romantic lighting above the tables and dance floor. Dinner for the guests was set up buffet style with a variety of foods provided by the restaurant in town. Drinks — alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike — were provided by Loki and his Tiki Hut served as the bar. The ever enchanting Faye Capricia had agreed to the last minute request of providing live singing entertainment for the reception. The dance floor was nothing but the soft sand beneath their feet and, as much as it may have dismayed the bride, even the lake monsters joined in on the festivities as they sang their song and splashed around in the water.

All in all it was a beautiful reception with a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy, and it was the perfect way to spend the evening in the company of friends or with a special someone.

Who: Marit and Danté
When: Mid-afternoon
Where: The bakery
What: Marit is attrached to the bakery by strawberry pie and meets someone new

The winds were just right and the sun was cheerful today. It was another day to set off to explore the town. The morning had been, well, interesting to say the least but she was not keen on keeping to the bungalows or the lake all day today. She had grown a bit weary of sitting inside and reading, and it was far too nice of a day on land not to take advantage of it. Marit had slipped into a nice sundress, pink with little yellow flowers, and set to make her way into town. She followed along the lake for awhile, smiling as a water friend was not far off and was attempting to get her to come back in and play.

Something smelled absolutely wonderful and it was wafting slowly but surely down towards the bungalows. Marit allowed herself to be guided by the nose. When she arrived at the bakery, there was a small bustle of people whom all seemed interested in one thing or another. Marit was happy to find that there were fresh strawberry pies cooling. Strawberries were something that smelled as wonderful as they tasted. She had not been into the bakery before and allowed herself to investigate some of the more unique items. There were different kinds of baked goods for persons with different sorts of tastes. One even smelled like something that might be good if she were in a fishy mood.

She decided on an itty bitty pie, a single-serving one for herself, and agreed on some tea. Maybe she could have something outside and enjoy the passing crowds.

[info]nosuchthings
Who: Emily & Echo Planck, Chris & Charlie Jung, Irei Arakaki, Sascha Connolly, and any visitors!
When: Morning
Where: The Plancks' cottage and Irei & Sascha's bungalow
What: An ominous tune lingers in the air despite the sunny and cheerful morning.

The early morning hours started off as peacefully as any other. Birds were greeting the new day with their song, the lake monster was swimming happily in the water, and Helicharis was beginning to bustle with activity. And yet despite the seemingly happy atmosphere something was amiss. It was hard to pinpoint exactly, possibly because the occurrence was so isolated that no one noticed unless they happened by the places on accident.

How often did citizens travel by the waterfront bungalows or the forest cottages anyway? Would they have noticed or even paid attention to the dolls that were outside one particular bungalow? Would anyone think to look inside the darkened window of a nearby cottage to see the dinner party that was already underway? No… no one would look or pay attention. And yet perhaps they should have.

OOC Note - There will be sub-threads for each location and those involved will need to reply to the appropriate sub-thread. Please note that these ARE open for anyone passing by or just visiting the residents in each location. Remember, have fun with it and do whatever you want with it! There is no specific outcome or reaction that needs to be had ^^

[info]fairseas

Who: Marit and Nathaniel
When: Early evening
Where: Walking through Helicharis on the way to the library
What: Having obtained and finished her library books, Marit is on the way to return them when she walks into another new face in Elysium.

They had all been simply wonderful, joyous reads! Marit had been able to take home three novels the previous day, with the assistance of Doctor Zane Smith, and had practically skipped the whole way back to the bungalows. All night and into the morning, the woman submerged herself in the pages of the Dickens' classic A Tale of Two Cities and two smaller picks of different genres. It had felt so good to hold the hardbacks and smell the slight hint of dust on the pages as they were flipped through with ease. These were not comforts that she usually found, or had previously found when she had first arrived in Elysium.

The place was still very new to her but she was being extremely adventurous today. She had walked around much of the place called 'home' after reaching the conclusion of the last book. Exhausted, she had taken to the water rather than sleep on the bed in her bungalow and once refreshed had decided to dig through the few belongings she had brought to retrieve two more books. Understanding that what was in this place should be for everyone, Marit decided that it would be best to donate her selections to the library--even though one of them was in Swedish.

Evening was setting behind the mountains to the west and to the east loomed certain darkness. While confident that she could find her way back home from the library, thanks mainly to the good Doctor's directions yesterday, she did not want to find herself in another pickle as to where she would inevitably end up. Once she had taken careful note of the way to the Town Hall, Marit allowed herself to wander over to the ceramics shop for a few moments. There were some pieces she was interested in, displayed in the window, but wondered if she really wanted them for their beauty or because she was finding land to be less enjoyable than she last remembered. Land was always much, much larger than the lakes, and being alone on land seemed to be much, much worse in the same way.

As she contemplated what she ought to do about the ceramics while also en route to the library, Marit walked with her eyes cast to the ground in front of her and thought about her dead husband. There were matters she was only now coming to terms with, and some of them she would rather ignore completely.

[info]fairseas

Who: Marit and Zane Smith
When: Late afternoon
Where: Outside of the Glassblower
What: Completely lost, Marit is determined to find a book--with a little help!

It had been months since she had read a good book, or a book at all for that matter. Perhaps that only drawback of living in the lake was that she could not take one of her favorite things in the entire world back to the place that her heart would always feel she truly belonged. Land was a very exciting place but she could only go so far. Well-written books could take you anywhere in the world, across time and space, and Marit's feverent interest in everything imaginable could be pacified but never completely satisfied by a good book. She would always require more until she was lost in beds of paperbacks and hardbacks instead of seagrass. When she had finally decided that it was time to venture out onto land again, the very first thing she had wanted to do was to get a book.

That was, of course, until she realized the very first thing she needed to do was to put on some clothes. Despite the years she had spent on land, in a house and with a husband, whenever she returned to the water for more than a week, it was as though all of those adaptations were lost on her all over again. There were expectations and mannerisms that one was to act with. A small mirror was mounted in the bathroom and she looked over herself before she left. Marit was still very determined to find whatever library or shop would have something worth reading. The distance between the bungalows and Helicharis was not terrible and yet her yearning for a new experience made the walk almost agonizing. She had not really explored Elysium when she had first arrived with many, many others, and instead took right to the lake and the bungalows. The rest of the land was still a complete mystery to her, and as she walked as gracefully as a woman in a rush could, Marit sadly came to another realization; she had no idea where she was or which way she should go.

For a little while, Marit watched the glassblowers as her long, blonde hair dried under the rays of the sun. Damp lines lingered down the back of the sleeveless lilac dress--she was not fond of trousers--and she toyed with a cluster of beads on her right wrist in thought. Everything was worth a little exploration, but she really, really wanted to get a book, too. The paths were not so much "bustling" as they would be in a larger town but the population of this place must have grown considerably since she had first arrived. Everyone was moving along, doing their own thing, living their lives. Marit did not want to bother anyone with what must seem like such a silly question to anyone else.

The only other option was to walk some more, and walk she did. Unfortunately, she neglected to notice where the road might take her if she went to the left once she passed the sweets shop, and eventually she came back to the glassblowers again. Drats! What a perfectly imperfect way to spend the day. She feared she might be losing light soon and then she would have to wander back home in the dark, alone, which was a dreadful thing to do. Marit then thought that she should look for her watch and hoped that she had remembered to put it amongst the things she wished to bring here. Quickly thereafter was the thought that perhaps she should also find some paper and a pen in order to make a list of all of the things that she had to remember to do.

But first, she had to find a book.
