Who: Starbuck, Lucretia, and Zane
When: Thursday afternoon
Where: medical pavilion
What: Starbuck volunteers his services!

The past 24 hours had been insane for Starbuck. From his arrival at Elysium, to his reunion with Addy, to meeting his daughter for the first time, to getting settled into his new home... he was beat. But there was no rest for the weary. He had much he wanted to accomplish before the day was done, and very high on his list was finding the medical pavilion. He wasn't ill or hurt, but rather hoping to work as a volunteer.

At the other refuge, Starbuck had learned a great deal more about his skills as a healer. If someone had told him he'd progress this much in a year, he would have laughed at them. But between his sessions with Theora when he was in school and the guidance he received from another magical healer at the last safe haven, he was moving right along. For the first time since his father's passing, he felt like his dad would be proud of his progress.

That was the main motivating factor that had him out wandering around Helicharis. It would take Starbuck a while to learn the lay of the land, but thankfully he'd met some very nice people today all more than happy to point him in the right direction when he got off track. Soon enough, he was walking into the impressive building and looking about for someone who appeared to be either in charge, or not too busy to deal with him.

Spotting a graceful looking woman who had an aura about her resembling that of the elves, Starbuck tried to keep his voice somewhat quiet while addressing her. "Excuse me, miss. I'm interested in working here. I'm a healer. Could you help me or at least direct me to someone who could?"

Who: Dylan and Lucretia
When: Mid-morning after this.
Where: Medical Pavilion
What: After the coroner's examination, Dylan comes to discuss the matter of Simon's murder.

Everything was beginning to change. As much as Dylan wanted to believe in the good of people, he was obviously mistaken as of late. Dissent existed amongst the citizens. Maybe not in the form of whispers heard, but clearly in the form of actions. Apparently, someone did not believe in the inalienable right to life for all people. All life was supposed to be sacred and precious while taken care of and protected against harm. Within their own haven, people were beginning to turn on others. A mauled faun was one thing; there was no proof it was done by anything other than an animal, but this — this wasn’t done by an animal. It was done by a monster.

His footsteps echoed down the hallway as he walked towards the coroner’s examination room. The medical examiner was in there with Simon’s deceased body, and Dylan was the one meant to speak with her afterward. Dr. Rousseau had in so far during her stay in Elysium been granted a reprieve from her previous life’s work, but the last two weeks had proved themselves to be graciously turning in her favor.

He walked up to the door, turning the handle and opening it to reveal a chilled room illuminated with soft blue-hued lights. There on one of the tables was Simon’s corpse covered only with a white sheet draped over the lower half of his body. The workers of the wine bar were charged with keeping their silence, and the same had been relayed to the medical examiner. Dylan need not explain it again for her as entered the room and closed the door behind himself.

Dylan circled around the table and surveyed the lifeless young man. Only days ago had he had been alive and in their custody. Now, he was no longer breathing. No longer moving. No longer living. Someone was playing a dangerous game with the Head Council. Certainly, not in a direct manner, but a dangerous game with them all the same. They were forces to be reckoned with as the circumstances diverged from their greatest hopes and surpassed their greatest fears.

He halted in place, folding his hands in front of himself as he continued to gaze at the body. It was so hard to accept another death. Not because death was meant to be avoided, but because Dylan hoped it never would have come to this — to murder. Even as Dylan heard new footsteps, his eyes remained at the young man on the table. His silence in and of itself held a profound weight.

“Dr. Rousseau,” Dylan said, eyes fixed on Simon’s pale corpse. Finally, he lifted them in Rousseau’s direction. “I trust you have the answers we need.”

Who: Lucretia [narrative]
When: Morning
Where: Medical Pavilion
What: An alarming discovery

There was a taunting chill in the examination room that Lucretia could not explain. Normally when a body was brought in, the body was barely put before her and she got to work. But when the body was revealed to her she stood there, motionless, shaking like she was in a freezer. The chills ran from the top of her head to her clad feet and with every passing moment the chills got worse. She swallowed hard and pulled away the cloth covering the body she was to examine.

This body was different. Though she had to examine the horrors of the dead faun and dealt with the heartache of Dr. Pryce up close, this was an actual murder of someone known in the community. All she knew was that his name was Simon Myles and he was murdered in the Wine bar, his body discovered in its bathroom. Until she examined him, her own opinions were just..opinions..

“Let’s get you checked out, yes?”

Lucretia had a bad habbit of searching the room for a tape recorder, or modern devices. The witch had been so attached to a tape recorder and new devices that she forgot she was back to basics. So instead, she got a pen and paper and began to start the process of the body’s examination.

Let’s see if you're keeping any secrets )

Who: Open to All
Where: Halfway along the eastern edge of the saltwater lake, directly west of the Abandoned Elven Palace
When: Morning
What: Startling discoveries

ooc: This post is open for ALL people who wish to be a part of this. React in the way your character normally would. There is no right or wrong way to do this scene, just go with it and have fun!

The sounds of the Autumnal Festival echoed until the early morning hours of the next day. There were still some revelers about, drinking wine and playing in the leaves. Some of them were naked – having too much wine did that sometimes – and dancing around without a care in the world. Others were content to just pass out wherever they might have fallen until the effects of the alcohol left their system. All in all, the festival was a success.

Morning dew clung to leaves like small, crystalline jewels and the world smell like an odd mixture of wine and fresh, morning air. The festival grounds were littered with debris, but the fauns and their volunteers weren’t worried about cleaning up the mess just yet. They had to recover from their celebration first – cleaning could be done at any time. Despite the left over party goers, and the sounds of animals awakening in the forest there was a slightly eerie feeling that lingered everywhere.

Perhaps it was due in part to the fog that hovered near the ground this morning. It lingered around the bottoms of trees, and completely covered low lying bushes and shrubs. Some things would have gone completely unnoticed because of it! Thankfully, as the sun rose in the sky so too did the fog.

And then the fog lifted... )

Who: Everyone!
When: 6:30 PM
Where: The Beach, by The Tiki Hut
What: Zane and Amada's Wedding Reception!

OOC: Everyone is welcome to join the party! Start a new sub-thread to interact with others, or keep an eye out for open sub-threads for you to join! Or if you don't feel like interacting, type up a narrative for your character.

The sun's rays shining out from below the horizon signaled the start of the wedding reception to celebrate Zane and Amada's happy nuptials. The area around Loki's Tiki Hut was set up with festive tiki torches that illuminated the entire area all the way down to the rim of the lake. Each lamp was entwined in green vines and white flowers, and the sand here was also 'planted' with green grass to add to the tropical theme. The tables were decorated with floating candle and flower centerpieces and around each centerpiece were several glass blown wedding favors in the shape of sail boats. Each table also had small boxes of clamshell shaped chocolate for everyone to enjoy.

Soft music lingered in the air and though the night sky was filled with stars some of the fae-folk had enticed lightning bugs to come out and provide romantic lighting above the tables and dance floor. Dinner for the guests was set up buffet style with a variety of foods provided by the restaurant in town. Drinks — alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike — were provided by Loki and his Tiki Hut served as the bar. The ever enchanting Faye Capricia had agreed to the last minute request of providing live singing entertainment for the reception. The dance floor was nothing but the soft sand beneath their feet and, as much as it may have dismayed the bride, even the lake monsters joined in on the festivities as they sang their song and splashed around in the water.

All in all it was a beautiful reception with a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy, and it was the perfect way to spend the evening in the company of friends or with a special someone.

[info]coalintodiamond
Who: Zach and Lucretia
When: Afternoon
Where: Somewhere in between the forest cottages and Van'taurë Lake.
What: Breakin' in the new hiking boots.

Zach decided it was time to try out his new hiking boots, the ones Adrienne had given to him for his birthday. They were just as awesome as they were on the day when he first saw them sitting on the shelf of that store in Chicago when he was visiting Adrienne and her family. He hadn't known she had went and purchased them that day, waiting for a perfect opportunity to give the boots to Zach. He had lit up with the brightest smile when he saw them, amazed that they still existed, of all things.

Now, with a reasonably sized backpack on his back and the brand new boots on his feet, Zach hiked along on what appeared to be an empty trail close to Van'taurë Lake. There was much more higher ground in the north than down by Helicharis where he lived, so Zach took the journey there and set about his hike. He had brought plenty of water and some snack food in case he became hungry. Those were the most important things to have, but his backpack contained more than just water and food. He might have taken company with him today, but all of people he had known so far he didn't know very well and contacting them wasn't as easy as it sounded.

As he went up a particularly sloped area of land, the path he followed surrounded completely by trees, Zach pondered on the note he and Adrienne had received by someone named Jack. He and Adrienne agreed to meet the guy together amongst themselves, but the idea made him a little jittery. If the guy's note was anything to go by, he was the one who attacked Adrienne on the night of the full moon.

Shaking his head of those thoughts, though, Zach breathed in the fresh air and continued on his hike. He had happier thoughts he could dwell on aside from that.

[info]nosuchthings
Who: Open to All [especially Sanura Hart and Vienna Kwon]
When: Morning
Where: Outside Sanura's cottage and outside of Vienna's cottage
What: It's raining dead animals...

The night was long and quiet, and the morning was greeted with the soft sprinkling of rain from the heavens above. A cool, and crisp start to the morning; the kind of start that refreshed the spirits and awakened the senses. Rain - clean and baptismal, washed away the sins of the night leaving nothing behind except fresh dew drops and unsullied scents. It fell upon windows softly, tapping against the glass with gentleness.

Pitter patter, pitter patter . . .

An unspoken invitation to enjoy the outdoors while it is born anew and unfettered. An invitation for one to open his or her eyes and see what the morning held, what the new sun brought with its dew-dropped rays. Underneath the dawning of a new day and its cleansing raindrops, of course, there could be nothing but a fiery rose-colored sunrise to behold and the promise of another beautiful day born from its quenched ashes. It was another day to meet with friends and family, another day to enjoy the splendor of living like every other day before it.

Yet, the smell of death traveled on the air. Newly rotting flesh of fresh corpses, but corpses of what? It was hard to say, the smell could not be fully sensed. For those close to it, it was all too familiar and real, though, and the day did not bring such nice tidings for them . . .

OOC note: There will be sub-threads for each character's house. The character is urged to reply, but it is also open for anyone who happens to be passing by or anyone who wants their character to get in on the fun! Remember though, the cottages are not near one another so the two sub-threads will not overlap. Please reply to the appropriate sub-thread ^^
