[info]beluga_man
Who: Corisanthias and Idehr
When: Midday
Where: The road leading to the forest cottages
What: Corisanthias gets lost on his way to Helicharis

Finding the salt water lake had been no problem. He'd just followed the scent he knew better than his own. It was after his afternoon swim and hunt that he was having a problem. He'd eaten his fill on the biggest fish, and had four more stuck onto a large stick he'd found. But with no tribe to feed he had finished a day's worth of hunting in an hour, and figured that he may as well look into furthering his favorite (and only) past time. After accepting that this place would be his new home, he'd been having trouble adjusting and thought perhaps something relaxing might help him adjust. Right now navigating the world two dimensionally was his biggest problem. Oh sure the objects here all had depth, but straight navigating the land was much harder when you couldn't swim up and see the terrain from a distance.

So despite knowing he was on a road, and despite knowing that he'd been told the main city was reached by following the road, he still was lost.

With a sigh he wiped his brow. If being lost wasn't bad enough, this weather was killing him, even though he still hadn't put on anything more than the shorts he'd awoken in Elysium. There had been a reason his people had never gone to the shore during the summer months. But here it wasn't even the summer. The trees were changing color. He didn't know what it meant, but since the only trees he'd ever seen had been green no matter the weather, it must signal something. Perhaps the orange meant they were giving off some of the heat. They were the same color as the fire he'd seen on occasion.

Just when he was giving up hope of ever finding his way, he saw someone on the road, and breathed a sigh of relief. But this man was...green.

He'd already seen a girl with wings. Why should this be any more surprising.

"Excuse me...sir?" He phrased the sir in a question, unknowing the proper greeting for a green skinned person. "I'm trying to find this city...Helicharis. They tell me there are materials for making..." now what was the word for what he did? "objects from stone? I hoped I might trade some of the fish I caught this morning for supplies. I'd be happy to offer you one if you could help me. I guarantee they are some of the best from the lake...or at least the best I could find."

He mimicked that smile that humans did when they were sincere and held up the fish. He hoped the green skinned stranger might be hungry.

Who: Idehr and Midori
When: noon
Where: Midori's cottage
What: Ide offers his carpentry services.

Idehr gathered his carpentry tools into his box before leaving the forest cottage, towards the one a few houses down the road. If Malcolm was correct, which he was sure he was, a woman was working on her cottage. He hoped that it was improvements with which he could actually help, but maybe he needed to give himself enough credit. Then there was the question of whether or not the woman wanted his help. She could be doubtful of his skills because he was an orc or something. Shifting the toolbox to his other hand to scratch his nose, Ide neared the cottage and hoped that it was the right one.

He gathered his courage and knocked on the door, smoothening his hair so that he'd look presentable enough for whoever it was that opened the door. As always, he was on his best behavior when meeting a new customer. Maybe fixing things with Malcolm would be just as interesting as carpentry and he'd be able to make something good enough to impress certain people. A grin spread on his face as he imagined the appreciative look on her face and he lost himself in a train of thought. He stopped himself after a moment - it was not a good idea to have those kinds of thoughts right now. Deciding what he should say seemed like the best course of action, as he'd rather not sound like a creep.

[info]itsnotacurse
Who: Radu, Idehr, & later Adrienne
When: Late Afternoon onward.
Where: The path towards the forest cottages, then Radu's Cottage
What: Two werewolves and an orc walk into a bar cottage... AKA Birthday Bash
Note: Italicized dialogue = Romanian.

Now that the introductions were all said and done and they returned from getting supplies for Radu's birthday party, as well as the cake Idehr baked for the occasion, he wondered if he should ask what was new with Radu because it had been a while since they last spoke. Who knew, there were probably a multitude of changes in both of their lives that may not have been so obvious at first until spoken aloud. He carefully held the bag of supplies and the cake platter as they walked along the forest path, hesitating for a couple of moments before looking at his acquaintence. "How've you been? Doing anything fun?" he asked. He'd have to tell him all about Maddy and Aveira, once he heard all Radu had to say.

He wondered if he could invite Radu to dinner one evening like he had with Lee, and as Raduwas able to eat what Idehr cooked, it might make for a pleasant evening. He stored that in the back of his mind for now and withdrew a small carving of a sword out of his pocket. It was meant to be a birthday present, but he had no idea if it was appropriate or appreciated. "You can start a collection," he joked. "I'm also starting to work with metal too." He looked forward to what he was able to make with it. Elysium needed some culture, a couple of artists here and there, and while he didn't claim to be particularly good, sculpting here and there might be interesting. "Maybe you and I can create an art gallery." He didn't know if Radu was an artist, but either way it was a light jest.

"Some things that are good, and some that are not," Radu responded with a nod. It wasn't an entirely automatic response, as he still wasn't used to small talk. Not really. That was one of the reasons that he and others in his family were at times perceived as haughty. Still, he wasn't sure yet whether he wanted to tell the orc about his encounters with Zach, Adrienne's boyfriend. In fact, he had yet to explain Adrienne herself. He was considering how much to reveal when he was presented with a gift.

The werewolf stopped to get a better look at the small wooden sword, and was rather impressed with it's workmanship. "Thank you, Idehr," he said, and accepted the carving, placing it in the inner pocket of his jacket. "There must be no silver," he cautioned with a raised index finger and a wry grin. Although he'd had enough of that particular metal, as evidenced by the scar on his eyebrow, he trusted Idehr enough to know the warning wasn't necessary. He wasn't sure what he could provide. He wasn't as artistic as his mother had been. The thought brought a certain solemnity to the lycanthrope.

He leaned against a nearby tree, blissfully unaware of any arboreal complaints, and regarded Idehr thoughtfully. )

[info]thedaedalus
Who: Malcolm, Idehr and Maddy
Where: Their cottage
When: Mid-afternoon
What: Fretful foster fathers taking care of their sick little girl

Malcolm worriedly rushed around kitchen. He had stayed home today from his job, doing the final touches on the generators, to take care of Maddy. She had fallen ill and Malcolm could not focus on anything until she was feeling better.

Carefully, Malcolm stirred the broth he had on the stove. Satisfied that it was ready, he laddled it into a bowl and set it upon a tray with the dry toast and juice that was already prepared. He picked up the tray and carried it up the stairs to Maddy's room.

"Lunchtime," Malcolm said quietly. He didn't know if Maddy had fallen asleep or not in the short time he had been downstairs making her food.

"Mm," Maddy murmured, hugging her teddy bear. She was awake, but didn't look all that alert. "Not hungry."

Malcolm set the tray down next to Maddy's bed before sitting on the edge of the bed. He brought a hand to her forehead to stroke her hair gently. "Maddy, I know you don't feel good, but you should eat something. You need to get your strength up."

Maddy pouted at Malcolm and he felt his heart break. He was not used to seeing Maddy look so miserable. He wondered when Idehr would be getting back home. If anyone could get Maddy to eat, it was Ide.

[info]audiomorbid
Who: Dione and Idehr
When: Early Afternoon
Where: Edge of Lake Alata'elen
What: Dione's lost her shoes and a helpful orc comes along to help her out.

Dione and Dexter were fighting. It made being in the bungalow that they shared (whether anyone understood that or not) hard to live with. After all, he was sulking about the fact that she was going to Nathaniel's dinner party and Dione had decided that she needed to get away from him so that he could understand exactly how important this was to her. It was so much easier to hold her ground when she wasn't anywhere near him. After all, if she stayed around him for very long and listened to him sulk and constantly go on about the situation, eventually she would give in to what he wanted in order to make the whole situation go away. That was the way it had been their whole life, she always gave in to him. He had gotten used to it and apparently thought that this time was going to be the same.

So she had walked away from him, leaving him alone in the bungalow and walked down to the edge of the lake. It was a beautiful sounding place, the lake. The soft motion of the water against the sand. She had decided on pants that weren't quite ankle length and simple shoes that she slipped off of her feet to walk along the shoreline and feel the water lap against her skin. So she walked along the edge of the water, lost in her thoughts as she tried to forget that her brother was upset with her decision and trying to talk her out of it. Really, she was trying to be social. Yet it seemed like he only wanted her to be social when he wanted her to be social, not when she wanted to be social with others. Or perhaps it was just a matter of him controlling who she was social with.

The very thought frustrated her. With a grunt that was highly unladylike, she stabbed her cane into the soft sand. Which brought her back to her brain. Then she realized that she had no idea where her shoes were. She'd slipped them off in the sand to walk, but how far had she come and where exactly had she left them. It would have been so much smarter to have carried them along with her. Hindsight, 20/20 until you're senile, unless you happen to be blind, which in her case was the truth. That unladylike grunting sound started again. Now she was really frustrated.

[info]healingenergy
Who: Emily and Sydni (special guest appearance of Idehr and Maddy)
Where: the library
When: afternoon
What: Lesson planning.

Emily smiled and waved her goodbye as the young children started to leave the library with their parents, satisfied with how the lessons had progressed today. As each day passed, she found them to be bright and absolutely adorable. Most people would probably find teaching young children to be stressful and difficult, but not Emily. She tried her best to make each day as pleasant as possible and that included her behaviour. Maddy, the seven-year-old entrusted to Malcolm and Idehr's care, was very quiet as she found her coat and the sickly expression on her face immediately got Emily's attention. She crouched besides the girl and placed a gentle hand on her arm. "What's wrong, Maddy?" asked Emily in a soft voice.

"My stomach hurts. And my head. A lot." The girl sat on the floor and hugged her knees to her chest in an attempt to ignore the pain and Emily knelt next to her, reassuring Maddy that Idehr was just running a bit late. Maddy made a small sound of recognition, in too much pain to say anything else. The door to the library opened a couple of minutes and the girl raised her head to see Idehr walking towards them. Wordlessly, she lifted her arms to him as a plea to be picked up and the orc complied.

Idehr cuddled Maddy close to him and his worried eyes turned to Emily. "Her head and stomach are hurting, she says. I think she might be coming down with something," she said. Idehr thanked her and she placed a hand on Maddy's shoulder to wish her to feel better before the two left the library. After that, she gathered her books and papers into a pile, slipping strands of hair that fell loose behind her ears. She hoped that Maddy had nothing serious that would worry Idehr and Malcolm, and her tidying the area of the library was not as cheerful as it normally was. Maybe her liking of Maddy was biased because she was with Malcolm, but she was somewhat protective of the little girl.

[info]introvertedorc
Who: Aveira and Idehr
Where: the Blacksmith's and the Wine Bar
When: mid-evening
What: Idehr pays Aveira a visit. At night.

Idehr needed a smart shirt. Desperately. His wardrobe consisted almost entirely of T-shirts and hoodies and he had no good clothing with which to impress anyone, so there was nothing for it. He asked Malcolm if he could borrow a nice and crisp button-down shirt after dinner and retired to his room in order to change. Thankfully he still had deoderant and sprayed some on himself before wearing the shirt. Maddy wanted to know what he was up to, so he told her that he was going to see Aveira and she had a knowing little smile right until she had to go to bed. He'd deal with that later. At the moment, he had to buff his pair of black shoes (his only other pair, actually) and comb his hair.

He told himself that he was just going to pay her a visit. At night. After he'd given her a gift and she returned it with one of her own. That had to mean something, right? Or was she only being polite? She did say that she hoped to see him some time soon, metal or not (he memorized the letter - it marked the first, nicest note a woman ever sent him). A little confidence drifted his way and he left the forest cottage to head for the Blacksmith's. He hoped she would be there. There were many things that could go wrong and he'd never find her... but he hoped not.

Time flashed before his eyes and the door of the Blacksmith's appeared in the horizon. Ide wished that he had some of his father's orc bravery hiding away somewhere in the back of his mind. He knocked on the door and hoped one more time that she was in. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

[info]knowingcaden
Who: Caden, Ath Dara, and Idehr(ish)
Where: the forest cottages & forest
When: early afternoon
What: Caden wants to check up on his friend and show her a cool new ride. (Oh, yeah.)

Hearing about a faun dying made Caden worry about Ath Dara, though there was no evidence that she'd be next on the list. It was one of those odd assumptions that he formed under panic, which was quite understandable considering how much he liked her. Come on, when would he find another person he could write songs to, be odd with and who was another flute player? He wanted to see how she was and ask if she heard the rumours about the faun, though actually going to her cottage was another story. He doubted her parents would take kindly if he, a human, appeared on their doorstep and asked to see their daughter. That was why he had another plan.

A fiendish, odd as hell plan of Caden.

He knew where Ath Dara's cottage was after a couple bouts of careful watching (no, he wasn't a stalker, really) and he had the perfect person in mind to help him: Idehr, the carpenter man. Being green and decidedly not human, Ide could easily go to Ath Dara's cottage and ask for her. Caden knew that Ide was shy, but Caden needed to see her. The right bribe was necessary. As it turned out, all Ide really wanted in exchange for his services was a couple bottles of alcohol which he had left over from his stash.

He stood behind a tree a ways from the cottage and looked earnestly at Idehr. "All right, Ide, you knock on the door, and remember what I told you to say. No hesitation. You're pretty good looking for a green bloke - though I saw Ath Dara first." He shifted his weight to his other foot as Ide gave him a curious look.

''Is she fit?'' Ide wanted to know. )

[info]redcandy
Who: Aveira and OPEN
When: Late Afternoon
Where: Blacksmith and Weaponsmith Shop
What: Aveira is at work and gets a guest!

The smell of burning metal was very frank in the Blacksmith and Weaponsmith shop. To some it may be a little headache raising on nose after just about an hour or so, but to Aveira it was just as refreshing as the smell of the bakery. The workload was the bit of the headache. It wasn’t like back home where technology could give out a hand with the various weapons she enjoyed crafting. This was the old fashioned way. On the plus side, it was like creating art. Though it encouraged enough sweat to make you lose about ten pounds with just one making of the sword, it would be a true art piece for anyone to have.

The shop was set to Aveira’s liking and often times she would relocate anything any other shop workers would move. In her opinion it had a great appeal. The ordinary swords and daggers were neatly and horizontally placed around the shop in a ‘C’ like formation. They didn’t take long to forge and she figured since she pretty much made the table herself, it went where she pleased.

Double edged swords, or ethnic like swords such as the Kris or Katana that sometimes took days for Aveira to make rest in a nicely decorated table in the middle along with daggers with designs on them. In the far back were less harmful looking weapons like wooden swords for children or anyone who would fancy them. On the back wall, crossbows, lances, staffs and weapons of request were located there.

She sat at the table she always rested at, legs propped up with her trademark cigarette occupied hand that hung by her side. Aveira let out a prolonged sigh, smoke circling through the air. When she thought she heard a noise, perhaps hesitant footsteps only a brow quirked up. Her voice wasn’t tainted with rudeness, but perhaps a bit of annoyance. This had happened before. Did she look mean from behind?

“You know. The shop is open for a reason.”

Who: Malcolm, Idehr and Maddy
When: Afternoon
Where: Their cottage
What: Family trouble

Malcolm was sitting at the kitchen table, going over his blueprints for the generators. He hadn't gone down to the storage unit today, wanting to spend some time going over the plans once again. It seemed some his ideas were coming out as well as he thought and he needed to rethink his strategy. Besides, he wanted to stay with Maddy.

Maddy was just finishing up her lunch, which was a rather pathetic looking sandwich from Malcolm. Ide was normally the one to take care of meals, but he had been hiding in his room all day.

"All done!" Maddy announced, smiling broadly. "Thank you, Malcolm." She got up to run off.

"Hey," Malcolm said gently, looking up from his work. "What are you supposed to do now?" While Malcolm did spoil Maddy rotten, he wanted to make sure she knew some responsibility.

"Oh..." Maddy nodded and went back to the table. She picked up her plate and took it to the sink. She stood on her tip-toes so she could wash it off and put it away to dry.

"Much better," Malcolm said with a large smile. "So what are you going to do now?"

Who: Frar, Fror, and Open (to many many people!!!)
When: Early evening
Where: In front of the wine bar
What: Handing out samples of their new ale

"Come'n'get it!" Cried out the stout dwarf as he stood in front of a well-built drink stand with the words FREE ALE painted in bright, decorative letters across the top portion of the stand. Frar and Fror had carted down a dozen barrels of their 'specially' brewed ale from the Dwarven caves just for the purpose of trying it out on the citizens.

"New recipe!" He continued to say out loud as he passed out miniature mugs to anyone who passed by. "Same great taste but with extra ooomph court'sy o'the magically enhanced hops!" His pipe was held firmly in the corner of his mouth, and there were occasional puffs of smoke rising into the air. Frar smiled at the citizens and even flirted with some of the women as he continued with his 'advertisement' of the new ale.

"C'mere lad!" He called to a healthy looking young man. "Y'be the type who kin hold yer ale?" The boy nodded and Frar slapped him happily on the back.

"Thataboy!" The dwarf grabbed one of the miniature mugs and handed it to the stranger. "Take a sip o'that and tell me what be y'thoughts?" The boy looked at the dwarf oddly but decided to take the offer and downed the mug of ale. Within moments the boy was smiling and swaying on the spot.

"That's the..." He hiccuped and grinned. "Thaaaaaaaaaat ish the best-" The boy hiccuped again and grabbed a hold of Frar's shoulder for support. "I love you, man! Can I have more?"

Frar grinned and handed the boy another mug. "There ye have it folks! The best ale in all of Elysium, free to try but only today!"

Frar looked over his shoulder at his brother and winked at him. Their new recipe was a hit and he was sure that all twelve barrels would be emptied within the next few hours.

[info]introvertedorc
Who: Ide and Simon
Where: near Ide and Malcolm's cottage.
When: Early afternoon
What: First meeting, in which Idehr meets a professional builder to his embarrassment. If he blushes too much, he will look like a watermelon jelly bean.

Ide left the forest cottage with his pack of tools and walked the short distance to the work shed that was only three quarters finished. The building took longer than expected because he doubted nearly everything he did. There were times when he hoped that the work he did on Lee's foundation was sturdy enough and did not collapse. Pushing those thoughts to the back of his mind, he prepared his tools to continue where he last stopped. The planks of wood he gathered leaned against the side of the cottage and he grabbed one to hold at the right correct nailing position.

He worked for a while with his hoodie on, but he became too hot and had to remove it. Normally Ide disliked going around in a shirt exposing his arms, but he figured that no one would see him. Several planks of wood later, Ide paused to take a sip of water from the canteen strapped to his waist and continued to work. There was nothing quite like honest labor that made people happy. Humming a song under his breath, he held the nail between his forefinger and thumb to ready it for the hammer. He also had to be careful that he didn't hit the nail too hard and break the wood.

[info]foodforthesoul
Who: Lee, Ide, and Maddy
Where: Ide, Maddy, and Malcolm's cottage
When: Not too long after sunset
What: Lee was invited and is a little nervous about kids. Vampirism, the gay, he's like a walking nightmare for a Catholic Mother!

The fireflies were out in force, probably just before they went into hibernation for the colder months. Lee was not looking forward to the winter. He had no real way yet of storing blood and things would be turning more difficult. Already he was scouting around for materials to make cages for jack rabbits and hares. If he could keep them warm and fed he could raise them in captivity and not need to worry all the time about hunting or about depleting the local prey.

He had promised himself that he'd give himself one night off from worrying about things he couldn't control. The fact was he just didn't have a solution for winter other than survive the best dang way he could. He still knew how to set traps in the snow. But like, even more importantly, maybe he ought to work on getting some friends. Winter was bound to be really boring, but, it would increase the nighttime which, therefore, increased his social capacity!

Lee was looking sharp in his olive three-quarter sleeve and navy slacks. His boots were a little worn, but nothing was going to fix that. Since he'd given Ide the last bits of food he had there had been a scramble for an alternate gift. During sunlight hours when he wasn't sleeping, he lightly sanded down a chip in a glass and worked an old metal votive holder around its base. A little water, a small stone and it was a gently pulsating nightlight! Little kids were still scared of the dark he was sure. And he could replenish it real easy. Probably wouldn't last more than a couple of months, but would be easy to clean.

Lee coughed and cupped his hand around his mouth for a moment to breath. Confident that he didn't have blood breath, he rapped lightly on the front door of the wooden cottage. It was a nice little grove they had too. Nothing like Lee's sprawling yard, of course, but it wasn't like he was currently making much use of it. Damn, whatever was cooking did smell good. Maybe he would take some solid food, he knew he sorely missed eating it!

Who: Ide and Lee
Where: Lee's cottage
When: Evening
What: Ide does some repair work - snippet.

Judging from the sound of the trees' chatter, it was about time for Idehr to walk over to Lee's place and continue with his reparations to the outside and the foundation of the cottage. If he was any good at negotiating, Ide might have persuaded Lee to live somewhere that didn't look like it was going to collapse under heavy snowfall. To each his own, though. He doubted that Lee would consider him a good friend if he mentioned it and there was the matter of pride. Everyone's pride was important to him and he'd rather not be the one to hurt Lee's. Making sure Maddy was tucked into her bed comfortably, he left the cottage and headed towards the Lunar Farm.

He knocked on the door and adjusted the pack of tools on his shoulder. He'd have to go inside to check something before he went around to the outer wall to continue with the new foundation. As he waited, Ide hummed a tune that he remembered his mother singing to him when he was little. Hey, Mister Tambourine Man... The door opened and he looked at his friend. "Hey," Ide said. "Is it okay if I work a bit more on the foundation? Don't want to disturb you if you're doing something important."

Lee almost lost a tomato he was holding when Ide said that. )

[info]healingenergy
Who: Emily, Echo, and OPEN to party guests!
Where: by the Plancks' forest cottage
When: sundown
What: Surprise birthday party! I'll have Emily arrive after a few comments from other people.

Echo awoke earlier than usual Saturday morning, not surprisingly because she had much to do before the party in the evening. She dressed quickly and hoped that her mom hadn't started making breakfast yet. On her birthday, she wasn't allowed - ever since she was four, Echo insisted on making Emily breakfast in bed. Her meals improved over the years, thankfully. She reached the kitchen and found it empty, which was good. She set to work cooking pancakes, her mom's favorite breakfast in the entire world, and almost three-quarters of an hour later, she was finished.

Placing the plate of pancakes and a glass of juice on a tray, Echo carried it to Emily's room and opened the door. The movement stirred her mother, who sat up in bed. "Happy birthday to you," Echo started to sing as she neared the bed. "...happy birthday, dear Mom, happy birthday to you!" She grinned and gave Emily the tray, squeezing her shoulders in a hug.

''Oh Echo, thank you,'' said Emily... )

Making the excuse to leave was easier than Echo had expected, as was getting Emily to agree to come back to the cottage at sundown. She hurried back and went to her room to retrieve the party decorations. The baker soon arrived with the cake, so Echo set up a couple of tables for it to rest and brought out the rest of the refreshments. She draped streamers over various tree branches and positioned the tiki torches so that there was enough light. The sun neared the horizon now, and Echo changed just before the musicians arrived. She adored her yellow dress that Kazuki made her yesterday (and she immediately invited her to the party). Revealing, cute and definitely mature.

Excellent. Now all she had to do was hope that the guests came to the forest cottage before her mom returned. Time to get the party started!

[info]foodforthesoul
Who: Ide and Lee
Where: The woods around his house and a little beyond
When: Sometime before midnight
What: Lucy has been missing since the Full Moon.

"Lucy! LUUUUUUUUUCE! PHweeeet! Here girl! LUCY!" Lee's throat was going to go raw if he kept this up. Lucy always spent the Full Moon with him. Lou had been at the house as well as a cat he hadn't seen before, but Lucy was always there. He swore they understood the danger of being out, but last night, she hadn't been there. Lee knew she knew other humans, but he didn't see any reason why she'd change her habits then. He could usually always tell when she was about to show up, like he got her strange, internal clock.

But by the next night there was a growing dread in his stomach. When he'd woken up it'd felt much stronger than before and, as soon as light would allow, he was already on his stoop shouting for her and then every half hour in case she could hear him. Then he'd taken a walk around his perimeter, calling for her.

Went by the farm, got a little work done. Called more. Whistled as loud as he possibly could, which was quite loud, and there wasn't even the faintest tell-tale sign of her presence. He even checked the light soil for her paw prints and only saw signs of a vole. More bad news.

As the night wore on, the worry burrowed deeper into his chest. Into the night he plunged, searching for over two hours, walking further past the farmland and then calling her back to her house. "LUCY! LU-SAY!" For such an awkward guy, his farm shouting was booming. He swore to himself and kicked a tree stump. His family, his home, and now his fucking DOG! "LUCY!" He put two fingers to his mouth and tweeted a whistle as loud and as long as he could. In the quiet night, it was probably heard for a half-mile around.

"C'mon girl..." Lee turned at the sound of bushes moving. For a moment his eyes widened and he dared to hope until he realized the sounds were much too large and the breathing too regular for her. His moment of excitement dropped with a dull thud.

Once they received the clothes from Emily (and Idehr could say that he met her now), Maddy dressed in Malcolm and Ide's cottage before they headed to Helicharis to pick up Logan. They had to see if Logan wanted to come along to see the pegasi first, but Ide had no idea how it was possible not to refuse a request like that, more so if Maddy was making it. Now that she'd started to settle in their cottage, he could already see how decisive she was. As they walked, for instance, she had to be in the middle so one of them didn't feel lonely and she wanted to know the names of as many flora as possible. Ide didn't know the actual names of nearly all of them so he left that bit to Malcolm, but he was responsible for pointing out to her which plants were happy and to tell them hello for her.

"Do plants remember you?" Maddy wanted to know. "They don't have brains so it'd be strange if they did." This question was important to her and she gazed at Ide with large, curious eyes. She never met an orc before now and she wanted to know all about Ide and what he could do. It fascinated her that he was green and had tusks (which she'd only seen late at night, when he tucked her in bed). He was tall and strong, but really gentle.

Ide had never wondered about that; he only paid attention to plants when he was gardening and made sure that they were satisfied then. He preferred talking to animals, truth be told. "I don't think they remember me. They like anyone who doesn't hurt them," he said with a shrug. "You know, trees actually like being hugged." He shot a grin at Malcolm. "Don't let that slip, though, because we don't want to see everyone hugging every tree they meet now. The trees don't need bigger egos than they already have. I make the air you breathe, I provide fruit, ungrateful moving thing, they say to me. That tree over there - " Ide pointed to a somewhat large tree, "- thinks you'd make a cute tree, Malcolm. He's not interested in seeding with you!" he called, jokingly.

''Trees also have slang. It's awful.'' )

Who: Malcolm, Idehr and Maddy
When Morning, Tuesday, August 28, 2007
Where: Their cottage
What: Breakfast time with the new family

Malcolm woke up with a huge grin on his face. He couldn't help it. He was madly, crazily in love with Emily and she reciprocated! Never in his wildest dreams did he thinks that was actually going to come true!

He bounded out of bed, got dressed and raced down the stairs. He went outside to see what the weather was like, throwing open the door and....

...Nearly trodded on the basket that was there. He bent frown, frowning curiously at the basket. He opened the note and read it. His grin grew larger. Emily! He was going to be giddy all day, wasn't he? How sweet of her, giving them muffins. He would have to thank her later.

Malcolm checked the sky-- of course, a day like today could be nothing but beautiful in Malcolm's eyes. He then went back inside to the kitchen, which was crowded with things taken out to make room for Maddy. "Good morning!" He called out cheerfully to the other inhabitants of the house. "Emily left us a basket of muffins."

Who: Dylan and ... [Anyone involved!]
Where: Town Hall
When: Afternoon
What: Finding the orphans homes.

**Note: To join, begin a subthread with the names of those involved in the subject of your comment. I'm not sure who and all is participating!

All of the orphans had been brought to the Town Hall today. Although Dylan had no children himself, he knew how to act with them due to spending time with the youth of his clan back home. He arrived at the medical pavilion dressed in very simple human clothes today: a t-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap. It was not the djinn's usual style of clothing, but it made him more approachable to the other residents of Elysium. Often, he seemed quite imposing with his size and extremely professional demeanor.

Dylan picked up the orphans from the medical pavilion and took them to Town Hall. The smallest sat on his shoulders and two of the others held his hands as they all walked into the building together, laughing and talking along the way.

Once they were inside, Dylan brought the children to one of the rooms set aside for them with supervisors as he met with the prospective foster parents today. He remained in his choice of clothing, deciding not to switch out for a suit or robes. Dylan found the human clothes to be rather comfortable, though he was not sure he liked the jeans very much. For someone used to loose-fitting fabrics with fluidity, jeans felt rather restrictive. He hoped his appearance would be okay for those coming by today.
