Who: Adrienne and Kazuki
When: Early afternoon
Where: Western caves
What: Spelunking!

Though Zach’s birthday had already past by one day, and though the couple had already celebrated the night before Adrienne ventured out to find something more to give her boyfriend. A late birthday present it wasn’t, but merely something that the werewolf wanted to do for Zach and the good weather had presented ample opportunity. Her quest took her far from Helicharis and toward the western slope of the mountains that surrounded the valley. Some of the dwarves in town had mentioned the presence of caves in that area, caves that held a plethora of minerals that could not be found elsewhere.

The information immediately caught Adrienne’s attention and her first thought afterward was that she wanted to go exploring for some raw materials for Zach to practice his alchemy with. The lycanthrope knew that it was hard finding different materials to work with especially since they were so isolated within Elysium. While the elves had sought to provide the citizens with almost every necessity, the items that were available to them were already processed and made into something usable. Adrienne wanted the alchemist to have raw materials to practice with, and since the elves didn’t often go mining the dark-haired girl decided to go on her own.

With a backpack full of supplies the girl headed out toward the western caves on foot. The trek there was long but not tiring. The weather had been much cooler since the month turned to September and it made walking long distances that much easier. Within an hour she had made it to the point in the road where she would start heading toward the mountains. The dwarves had given her some direction to the caves that were nestled there and Adrienne hoped she would be able to find them.

And she did with ease. The dwarves directions were surprisingly accurate – “You’ll see an overhanging rock that looks like a witch’s nose! Twenty-five paces to the right and there be a cave, right there!” – and it didn’t take long for the girl to find the entrance. It was dark, and Adrienne could feel a cool breeze blowing out from within its depth. She crouched at the entrance and deposited her backpack on the ground to loot it for her supplies. There were no flashlights in Elysium, and while Adrienne had brought one with her she didn’t bring enough of the D size batteries. Instead, the werewolf opted for a good old fashioned torch that she made that morning out of an old tee-shirt and a branch from a nearby tree. She had brought a flask of oil with her and some matches and was about to light the torch when she heard a noise behind her.

“Who’s there?” She asked quickly, rising to her feet and turning around to face whatever it was that had followed her.

Kazuki had longed to visit places that were beyond the cottages and the market, he just didn't know where to start. Sometimes he was rather sheepish when it came to asking others if there were places that they found 'daring' shall he say or fascinating. He would have hated to stalk behind someone to find a personal place of interest, but he was more likely to do that instead of requesting an idea.

So, there he was following a female (who was certainly pretty to say the least) making sure his footsteps were near ghostly. Every time Kazuki's foot crunched on raw dirt or perhaps a stone he tried at best to find a place of hiding. Luckily, his light form barely had him noticeable. Judging by the pack she was carrying as well, it looked like she sure was going somewhere that required an adventure. A backpack? It must have been far. Boy, was it ever.

Since Kazuki had only laid eyes on the market, his shop and the cottages and sometimes the beach his eyes looked like that of a bug when he found the cave the girl had first discovered. It was one of those caves that near begged to be explored. All that Kazuki could do for a moment was let his eyes trail in various directions before he walked towards the cave, not even thinking that the girl was there first.

His footsteps were more audible, since he pressed on the surface hard to make sure the ground was steady. When the ground crunched loud enough for the girl to hear him he tried to make a face of surprise before pointing his index fingers against one another.

"Oh..Uhn..what a suprise. I-I saw the caves too." He lied pathetically.

Adrienne wasn't exactly sure how to react to the stranger. He didn't seem menacing or dangerous, and yet his answer to her felt somewhat forced. The caves weren't visible from the gravel road though he could have been wandering about the area and seen the caves. Or had he been following her? Adrienne didn't notice him earlier in sight or smell but that didn't mean anything since he was probably behind her and downwind.

"Did you?" She asked with a curious upward tilt of her head. He seemed meek and fragile to her and Adrienne didn't feel threatened at all. And boy, was he pretty! And tall... much taller than she was at any rate. Adrienne stood up from her crouch and smiled at the man. Her hands went to her hips and she walked up to him with deliberate steps. Standing in front of him now made Adrienne have to tilt her head upward to look at him.

"Were you following me?" She asked without pause though her voice didn't carry any anger or annoyance in it. The werewolf was just curious. And if he had been following her then she wanted to know why. It would have never occurred to her that someone would follow her for the single purpose of finding someplace new to explore. Her head tilted to the side before a smile formed upon her lips. "If you were following me, you should know I'm completely lost and I have no idea where I'm going."

A smirk, a slight one, tugged at the corner of her mouth. It was the only indication she gave that she was just joking with him apart from the twinkle in her eyes.

When Adrienne began to stroll towards him he looked behind him wondering how fast he could break for it before his eyes made ways back towards her. Before he could release a nervous laugh she spoke towards him in a way that was more sweet than threatening. He was glad she did not take fear or offense that he somewhat stalked her the entire time. Kazuki may has well been blunt to her question. "To be honest..Yes..I..it just seemed like you were going somewhere really cool. You see, I was looking to go somewhere other than the markets and all and it sure looked like you were planning to go somewhere that was interesting."

He shuffled a foot across the floor. "I guess I should have maybe asked you before the whole, getting caught behind you in the sort of creepy cave thing, eh?" Kazuki gave a friendly laugh, he honestly was not that scary. He was sure the girl could kick his ass anyways. There was something about her that plastered that across her. Even if he suddenly wanted to pounce her, she could swat him like a fly.

The vampire smirked along with her when she stated she was lost. "Well, we can be lost together. It's kind of thrilling when we become lost. Because the journey back is sometimes more fun than the purpose of the journey."

Adrienne wasn't expecting honesty from the stranger. It had always been her experience that most people would have lied about their true intentions rather than admit to actually stalking someone to a cave. Sure, the situation was a bit creepy if you thought about it in that way, but Adrienne didn't. She actually admired that the stranger told her the truth, and his reasoning wasn't all that far fetched.

"Town can get boring, ya?" She said with a look that told him that she agreed with his logic. "And I'm definitely someplace interesting, dontcha think?" She asked him with a slight tilt of her head and a smile. This stranger, whomever he was, seemed like the type of person that Adrienne could be playful with. And so she was and wasn't at all put off that he hadn't asked permission to follow her in the first place.

She waved it off and shook her head. "Don't worry about the following thing. I forgive you, especially since you're not like creepy or anything." She smiled at him and laughed. Adrienne was fairly confident in her abilities to defend herself. She was athletic and did keep in good shape, and of course it helped that she had the added abilities of a werewolf, but she wasn't a black belt or anything. She knew how to throw a punch and how to wield a sword (thanks to her time at the school), but that didn't really help her now since she was without a sword. But Adrienne got the feeling she wouldn't need any of that with this stranger.

"I'm Adrienne," she said with an outstretched hand. "And I was just going to get lost in this cave to look for some raw minerals for my boyfriend. So... you still wanna get lost with me?" She ran back to her backpack and pulled out a torch, an extra one she had made just in case. "You can have your own torch, if you want it?"

Kazuki felt a sense of relief flow over him when confirmed that he wasn’t freaky or anything. He knew that because he was skinny and somewhat looked like he would get scared before the other party he seemed harmless. It was only the three day starvation mark when he became a little dangerous. But he was in the clear and happy to take her hand and introduce himself. “I’m Kazuki. I may have actually seen you from afar because I work at the tailor shop. Sometimes people come by and I’m kinda in the far back and glance then go back to work. I feel bad not saying hi and all but sometimes I am afraid I will lazy out and then not finish what I am working on.”

He laughed a bit at her question regarding to him wanting to get lost in the cave that seemed to be beyond darkness. “I would love to. If the night itself is really dark we could use the torches to guide our way home too you know?” He shuffled his feet on the ground. “I think that’s really sweet and stuff what you are doing for your boyfriend. Not many girls do that for the guys. It is usually the other way around. Or guys just do the boring get girls flowers. It gets lame after awhile I think.”

Kazuki nodded towards the torch in a sign that he would be more than willing to take it if Adrienne didn’t mind.

So he had seen her from afar while she was at the tailoring shop? It was a little flattering and not at all creepy in a stalker way. Adrienne smiled at Kazuki and let out a small 'awwww' when he said just never had a chance to say hi. "You know, don't worry about it. Next time you see me there you should come up and say hi!"

Kazuki seemed so shy about being there with her. The way he shuffled his feet and looked down at the ground was absolutely adorable. She couldn't help but smile when he complimented her for getting stuff for Zach and waved her hand to dismiss it. "He means a lot to me, so I want to do whatever I can for him, y'know? And you're so right about flowers - they're nice sometimes but at other times they can be so boring!"

She handed the torch to Kazuki with a grin and then pulled out a lighter from her pocket. "I've never been in here before," she said after she lit both torches and led the way into the dark cave. "Oh my gosh this is so freakin' awesome," she said as the light from the torch caused the walls to glitter brightly. Adrienne followed the pathway in the cave until they came to a fork in the road.

"Which way?" She asked her impromptu companion. As long as they were traveling together she was going to make sure their adventure was fun for the both of them.

Kazuki couldn't help but feel like they would connect right away. She reminded him of a girl he used to work with back at the shop in Tokyo. She had a nice aura around her that made someone just want to move in her direction by nature and her friendly attitude alone with her spunk had him smiling carefully when he took the torch. It lit up his face and the last thing he wanted was his fangs noticible. She doubted she would be frightened by a vampire that she could take down fairly easily, but the area was somewhat enclosed and having a vampire within your radius could still be intimidating.

He walked after her and marved at the glittering wall, responding to the lighter Adrienne held. He was kind of thinking of what she could wear when she saw Zach. Bad time to think about dressing someone but he couldn't help it really. She had that perfect frame for adorable clothes other people wish they had. He smirked then when she turned towards him at the splitting of the roads he straighted up.

"Oh-Uh. How about the left? It seems rather exciting that ways for some reason." His head tilted upwards in the direction and a brow raised, wondering just what was down that path.

Vampires didn't scare Adrienne these days. Maybe if she weren't a werewolf she'd be more frightened by the sight; but such things were normalities now that sometimes it seemed odd to meet someone who wasn't a praeternatural. Her lack of fear wasn't even because she didn't think Kazuki would have been a formidable adversary; on the contrary, it was because he had a pleasant feel about him and she felt comfortable in his presence. And though they had just met, Adrienne was enjoying Kazuki's company immensely. And had she known he had been thinking about dressing her up, and her figure at that, she would have blushed deeply. The girl was never the type to think of herself as extremely pretty or cute. She was average in her own eyes, though others always told her otherwise.

"Left it is!" She started down the left pathway with the torch held in front of her. The path was a bit more rocky than before, but the girl didn't mind. The walls were glistening even more than near the entrance, and she wanted to stop to start picking away at them. But the draw of the unknown pulled her further into the cave, and around the next bend in the path. "Isn't this amazing, Kazuki?" Adrienne asked after a couple of minutes of silence. Their torches were causing the minerals in the cave's walls to sparkle brightly with a prismatic brilliance. Adrienne wondered how long it had been since any light had touched these magnificent walls at all.

There was another turn up ahead, and Adrienne was prepared to round it when a suspicious sound met her ears. She paused and leaned forward to get a better listen. It sounded like rushing water almost, mixed in with high-pitched screeching. It couldn't have been rats since it would have taken thousands of rats to make the sound she heard. The clearer the sound became, the more Adrienne thought it resembled that of wings flapping.

"Do you hear that?" She asked her companion before she took one step further into the cave with her torch ahead of her. The sound revealed itself then in the form of dozens of bats, flying overhead them swiftly. Adrienne couldn't help but let out a squeak of surprise as they came toward her and Kazuki. "Duck!" She yelled as she dropped to her knees. There had to have been hundreds of bats flying overhead, and though she was down low a few of them managed to get stuck in her hair. She squealed again and brushed them away as fast as she could.

“What noise?” Kazuki asked dumbly. His head making an odd slant as he asked. He should have paid more attention to the somewhat chaotic flapping noises coming in their direction. At first it was faint, somewhat sounding like various unusual sounds of the caves interrupting the brilliant vision of the minerals liting up the area. But after a few minutes, it became all to clear what the two were about to encounter.

“Oh..My-“

Kazuki followed Adrienne’s orders and got to his knees as well, covering his head. “BATS!! HOLYSHIT!!” He thought the pesky critters would go away, but it must have been the light from the torch that was attracting the creatures. If they put the light out, how would they find their way out!? Or perhaps they were invading their territory. Maybe it was like one of those Indiana Jones movies where the treasure she was looking for was heavily guarded by these nasty creatures showing no mercy.

Somewhat panicking, Kazuki began to beat at Adrienne’s head, trying to get the bats to go away. He hated bats. They made him feel like he was going to puke no matter how cute some claimed them to be. Not to mention the smell of them was enough to make him sick.

^_^ It's cool! This is so much fun!

The only reason for the sudden onslaught of bats would have been because Adrienne and Kazuki had made too much noise, and had awoken the nocturnal creatures. They weren't flying about to hurt anyone; rather, they were just as scared as the two adventurers, and were trying to escape. It was just unfortunate that some of them had entangled themselves in Adrienne's hair.

Unfortunate for Adrienne, that is.

Kazuki started to hit Adrienne over the head in what the werewolf assumed was an attempt to rid the bats from her hair. The werewolf would have appreciated the help (and for the most part she did), if the beating didn't sting as much as it did. She made small noises most of which consisted of 'ow!' and 'oh!' and 'ugh!' as the bats were swatted away one by one. Eventually, the flying mammals had left the area leaving only Kazuki and Adrienne in the cave. The wolf was sitting on the floor, dark-brown hair sticking up this way and that. There was bat guano all around her and the vampire, and only a few splatterings had landed on Adrienne's pants and shirt. It was disgusting, but there wasn't much she could do about it.

She smiled a bit wearily at Kazuki, and sighed. "That..." she paused and chuckled. "Was interesting. Are you all right?" She stood to her feet, and dusted off her hands on her jeans before she reached out to help Kazuki to his feet. "C'mon, I think the big cavern is up ahead. There'll probably be lots of minerals and jewels in there."

Kazuki paused for a moment to just sit there at laugh. “You know. I thought this only happened in movies. But you have very bat friendly hair.” He teased. “I think my hair frightens the bats.” He gave a playful wink and took her hand gracefully before he hopped to his feet. “This won’t make me hate the caves. They are rather interesting. After awhile you get tired of the Lagoons, the towns and of course your own house! This is so much cooler.” He set his eyes on the dark dirt and grinned. “You know. If you ever get in a fight with your boyfriend you can always say-“Hey, I went to a cave and got attacked by bats to get a gift for you!” he exclaimed, then proceeded to walk.

“Just don’t let him try and beat you on ‘coolest gift ever’. Though I do believe this takes the cake.” He truly believed so when they reached the cave even larger than the cave where the bats decided to state their territory. Rich minerals and jewels glinted both brilliantly and vaguely both in its ceiling and it’s walls. There seemed to be not one vacant spot. Kazuki simply gave out a large breath and lifted up his shoulders. “Welp! Were do we begin?”

Adrienne ran her fingers through her hair that had suddenly become a bird's nest. There were knots all over, and they were not going to come out easy. The girl sighed softly, but managed to laugh at what Kazuki said. "Yeah, I could so use this against him." She thought fondly about her boyfriend, and her eyes lit up significantly. "We haven't gotten into a fight lately, but if we do, I'll have to remember this." Adrienne let out a laugh, which turned into an 'oooh' when they reached the main part of the cave.

Her hands smoothed over the cool rock and the sparkling jewels. This was the most amazing thing she had ever seen! She smiled brightly at Kazuki and grabbed onto his shoulder to bounce a little. "Ohmygodthisissocool!" She said very quickly, and in one breath. She squealed and put down her bag to dig inside of it. Adrienne pulled out the rock pick set she had picked up in town. She handed one of them to Kazuki and took one herself.

"Just get whatever you think is pretty," Adrienne said with a grin as she began to work on a collection of quartz and tourmaline.

Kazuki looked over at her and quirked a brown. “Geez girl. Do you work out or somethin’ cus’ you got some guns on you. You look pretty strong!” He worked at quartz especially, the near clear colored crystals catching his eyes and he wondered if he could either make a necklace out of it or if he could do something with it in the ceramics shop. Either way he was working real hard to knock massive chunks out of their sanctuaries. He figured they were better off being used then stored away never to be used in the deep depths of the caves many might not even know about. “And oh, I sure plan to take as much as I can! I bet you can do all sorts of things with these thingies!”

He cleared his throat for a minute. “Oh, ahem. Thank you for helping me out by letting me borrow all your stuff. You know, I run the tailors shop. In return I can help you with clothes or anything if you need it. I mean, it’s not like people go on dates or there are huge events here but since the place is growing and things could always change you never know! Plus it’s nice to have awesome clothes no matter where you go. Even in a creepy cave!” He playfully threw a quartz in her direction and continued on with his picking.

Adrienne blinked at Kazuki, a deep blush forming on her cheeks at his comment. While she liked to stay in shape, most of Adrienne's strength came from the fact that she was a werewolf. She hadn't mentioned that to her new friend yet simply because there hadn't been a reason to so far. "Ah, well I'm only strong because I'm a werewolf," she said with a playful wink. "You know, I turn into a furry once a month and I run around howling at the moon." There was a time when Adrienne wouldn't have been so playful when talking about her ability, but as time passed she grew to accept it. And with Zach's help, she learned to love it. It wasn't a big deal here in Elysium, though, since there were so many other praeternaturals here.

"Zach can do a lot of amazing things with minerals," Adrienne said proudly. "Zach is my boyfriend, by the way. He's an alchemist." The werewolf kept picking at the minerals, collecting a wide variety that she was sure Zach would love working with. She smiled at Kazuki's statement, and waved it off with her hand.

"Oh don't worry about it! I brought extra stuff just in case I broke the ones I had." She shrugged, but she did pay attention to what Kazuki said about actually running the tailor's shop. The wolf smiled broadly; she had always admired the clothes at the tailoring shop, and she had no idea that Kazuki was the one who made the clothes! He had said that he worked there, but he actually did all of the sewing and designing, too!

"I love the clothes that you put up in the window of the shop," she exclaimed. "They're always so nice, but I never know if I'd look good in it or not. But..." she drew out the word, the sound echoing in the cave. "The next time I'm in town, I'm definitely going to let you dress me up. Deal?"

She was about to turn back around and continue with her picking when Kazuki threw a piece of quartz at her. Adrienne caught it with ease and turned the small jewel over in her hand. "This is a nice one," she remarked. "Thanks!" The lycan continued collecting various minerals and jewels for her boyfriend, and when she was satisfied with the amount she had, she turned around to check up on Kazuki.

"You almost done?" She peeked over the vampire's shoulder to watch him work. "Or do you need some help?"

Kazuki tilted his head when he heard Zach’s name. “Zach is a cool name. I can see you dating a Zach for some reason.” He dusted off his jeans that were still littered with dirt. He sneezed just a little. “Alchemy is amazing, I have never seen anyone perform the task, but I heard it is a rare and amazing talent.”

The vampire looked down fondly at Adrienne’s compliment about his clothes. “Thank you very much! It means a lot to me when people compliment me on my clothes. Especially here and all you know? Because I know the fabric and everything is different.”

Kazuki took off his shirt since he had a shirt underneath and set his jewels within the fabric. He tied his shirt closed with a knot and looked over to her with a smile. “Yeah, I’m done. Let’s go.” He ran past her. “Bet you can’t catch up!” His voice echoed through the cave as he maneuvered through the cave swiftly and headed towards its exit.
