WHO: Open to All (more than one character invited to join!)
WHEN: Just after sunrise
WHERE: On the road to Helicharis
WHAT: Finding dead things

Sunrise brought many things to the land, but one did not expect that death would be amongst them. And yet it was there in the middle of the gravel road that led straight into town. The scent of blood and dead flesh attracted flies and carrion crows alike. They hovered over the dead animal, buzzing around frantically as they searched for a place to land. Occasionally they would scatter when the dark birds would swoop in, picking through the ashen fur to get to the meat, while others simply went for remains of the organs that were spilled upon the ground. They cawed loudly at one another, fighting over the animal that lay there with passive, grey eyes that still looked out upon the world.

It was not a pretty sight. One could tell that this animal used to be a beautiful creature when it was filled with life. The reddish-grey fur held dark, black spots all over its body. The lifeless eyes peered out from what seemed to be a sweet face. The same reddish-grey color here was marked with black lines instead of spots streaking outward from the nose. Black tufts decorated the tips of its ears while the fur around its neck ruffed out like a collar. The animal's paws were huge and heavily padded and one could imagine that this animal was a stealthy hunter, one that could tread the forests without being seen or heard.

And yet somehow it was lying in the middle of the road. Dead, the victim of something that was either much bigger, or much stronger than it was. It had no chance of survival though it was obvious that it had put up quite a fight. The claws of the predatory cat were covered in blood and there were slight remnants of fur — or was it fabric? — still clinging to them. The cat itself had suffered from slashes from its opponent as well before it had fallen. A victim of a broken neck, obvious by the position of the head, or perhaps it had bled to death from the puncture wounds in its neck? Even more likely was the large slice across its belly that spilled its innards. Most of the larger organs were gone now, scattered along the way as it was dragged across the land, but for the most part the sinewy remains of the intestines, both large and small, were hanging limply from its body.

Nevertheless it was dead and out in the open for all to see. The question was whether or not anyone would take notice before the carrion carried away the body one piece at a time.

Shige sat on his furry black haunches far away from the corpse, observing...stewing in his disgust.

He'd woken this morning cigarette starved and desperate for a cup of coffee. His senses had only just begun to settle down since the full moon but the scent blowing in from the northwest of Elysium made the hair on his neck stand on end. Whatever it was, it's bloody death was large enough to smell from town. Slipping into the trees on the edge of Helicharis he shifted gracefully into his fox form. Pressing his nose the the ground he traced his way to the body of the large beast....

Shige understood the nature of life. Things die, predators eat. It was normal. But a body this large killed in such a way....he wasn't sure what to think. But his instincts told him it wasn't natural.

What could have done this? He had been told many times that this place was safe...his long fox-nose wrinkled into an offended grimace. Hn. Liars. Whatever had killed this creature, could kill something human sized with as much ease. Hesitantly, Shige made his way closer, torn between curiosity and stomach turning disgust. The scent of death brought back memories he had no desire to linger on.

He could track where the bloody battle originated but.....he wasn't sure he wanted to see where that led.

The small white fox was hunting. Logan was still asleep so Mitsuko had decided to catch herself some breakfast. She had dined on several birds and some kind of rodent-- she wasn't sure what.

Her senses were acute from being in predatory mode. She caught the scent of blood, heavy in the air. Mitsuko let out a chuffing noise and trotted down the road. She needed to find out what was going on. She was incredibly curious.

When Mitsuko set her gaze upon the bloodied mess, she tilted her head in curiosity. She wasn't bothered at all by the blood. It wasn't worse than what she did, just on a bigger scale. But what had done this?

She looked around and spotted the black fox nearby. "Genko... What's happened? Is this because of the werewolves?"

Having been utterly spoiled as a kit, Shige had only eaten a mouse out of curiosity and found it disgusting. Cooked is how he liked his food unless it was particularly excellent meat or fish. When Mitsuko approached his ears perked, pleased to see his fellow Kitsune, but when he caught whiff of her predatory breath and he wrinkled his nose.

"Geh, good morning to you too, Miss Hunter." Shige looked back towards the carcass and and observed the reactions of the people inspecting the body. "That was my first guess as well but it's been well over a day since the lycans shifted. It's too fresh." His black furry head swiveled back to his companion and tilted questioningly, "Unless some lycans can shift outside of the full moon? Then again there are other predators here that could do as much violence..."

His use of the word 'predators' didn't really refer to the animals in Elysium...

Mitsuko felt absolutely no shame in her like to hunt and kill her own food. Shigeru's dislike of it just showed him as a spoiled and pampered pup. She was taught to fend for herself and for thirteen years, the lack of opposable thumbs made cooking very difficult.

"Trying to make me feel bad just because you couldn't catch a fifeen-year-old three-legged cat even on your best day?" She sniffed in superiority. "Some of them can shift off the lunar cycle, but it's hard. They have to be experienced. But experienced Lycans might be more likely to want to cause havok. More in touch with their animal."

She sniffed the air. "Can you pick up on anything?"

Marley's hands dug deep into her pockets as she walked down the road. The ground was a little harsh on her feet as her sandles caved into the earth. Most of the time she was gazing towards the side watching as her steady motions moved her further along. As she looked up she watched the gathering of the crows circling around in a rather alarming set of motion.

The young empath enjoyed crows for some reason, their somewhat depressive nature making them unique though often found. It lured her to walk closer.

Then There was a sudden stench and she covered her nose and mouth before it fully settled. Her eyes cast among a bloodied mess of whatever was left of the creature. Marley was such an animal person it was pathetic. She just wanted to cry.

"Poor thing.." Was all she could say for it at the moment. She barely wanted to allow air to reach her nose. But her eyes were fixated on the mess of organs strewn about. This was messed up.

Farad was out on his way towards the market, walking idly when he heard the unmistakable sound of the crows. Sure, he had seen quite a few, but never such a gathering. There was quite a gathering of people too, coming close to something on the ground. There was something telling the medium to be a bit shady and walk away.

That wasn't in his nature and he walked towards the growing crowd, a stench building in his nose.

"Ohh man.."

Now, Farad couldn't stand seeing slabs of meat alone in the butchers shops not just because he was a vegetarian, it just was gross. But this tangled mess with in a whole other octave of disgusting. He looked over to the redhead.

"Yeah, this doesn't make me sick." He noted sarcastically. Farad then drew his hair out of his face, trying not to vomit.

"I agree. the poor thing."

Finally moved in to her house, Circe was more than a little peeved that she'd slept in after a day spent rearranging each room... over and over and... She pushed herself harder over the small hill and broke into a sprint down the road. Since she was sixteen it had been a ritual for her to go for a run before sunrise, and for the first time she'd missed it. The worst part about it was that there was daylight and she wasn't wearing makeup.

"Just avoid people..." She muttered to herself as she slowed to a jog. It was her first day to enjoy her new home and the last thing she wanted to do was walk around with people staring at her scar.

All thoughts of the offending mark were pushed aside as she noticed something on the road up ahead. It was only a moment before the smell hit her and she stopped suddenly, processing the familiar stench of death. Then again she'd smelt worse. With a grimace she jogged towards the body and was relieved when the crows flew away when she reached it. They were disturbing birds.

Glancing around, Circe crouched down next to the fallen animal. She pressed her finger up under her nose to try and block the smell, but it never worked in all her years of discovering remains in various states of decay. "What the hell happened here?" She muttered to herself, staring at the beautiful face of the animal. Carefully she closed it's eyelids, unable to stand the empty stare. She wasn't sure who she needed to tell about this, and she wasn't prepared to leave to get help and let the carrion crows have their way with the corpse. All she could do was wait for the first person heading into town.

"Even in times of peril I still get a view of a nice ass. May the gods always bless someone like me."

Giles didn't know how he got there now that he was staring at an ass that blocked his view of what the hell smelt so bad. Wasn't the female stranger. She had a rather pleasant smell to her that was tainted with whatever the hell she was standing in front of. He had to get a better view.

Of what was causing the smell. Though the ass would have been a bonus, but he wasn't a dog. Sniffing an ass wasn't a way to get to know a female. He hadn't stooped that low.

There was a strange feeling of tangled emotions as he passed a red headed girl who looked like the red sun threw up on her hair. Her hair was a mess of all kinds of reds. So the sun was having a bad day. Hell yeah, Hell yeah. Looked like one of those girls who were angry at the world. You know, hated their parents the whole teenage cliche.

Giles was at an odd angle though and a ways apart for them to fully notice each other and since he was trying to speak to the female stranger, he was in his own world.

"Thank god I didn't eat much. Though I must admit if you added salt, it may not taste bad."

Circe almost jumped when she heard someone speak... almost. She'd been too interested in finding all the animal's injuries to even notice that there were people close by now. Taking in the man standing nearby she smiled slightly and turned her attention back to the dead animal.

"Not the kind of smell anyone would want to wake up to," She muttered and stood up, crossing her arms over her chest, suddenly very conscious of her tight fitting jogging outfit.

"Are you just going to stand there or are you going to help?"

Giles squinted and eye then pointed to the bloody mess on the floor. "Help with what? Unless we are trying to play 'operation' on a body that smells like cabbage and rotten cheese I would rather just let it rot and let the crows have it's Thanksgiving feast. Don't see what the big deal is anyways. Everyone is acting like this is CSI." He scratched at his temple.

"All different species you know. People get hungry. Someone om nom nomed." He stated matter-of-factly. "It's life." He looked down at the animal. "Sad."

He paused for a moment.

"So, anyone know if we have like roadside cleanup?"

Noticing him scratch his temple, Circe automatically touched her own and tried not to think about her scar. "It's not the worst smell... but that's exactly the sort of help I need," She told him, trying to stay on track. Though at the mention of CSI she had the greatest urge to go off on a tangent and list the things that were wrong with that franchise, particularly how they collected evidence, but it was the least of her problems at that moment.

"Does this look like the average takeaway to you?" She asked sarcastically, glancing up at him. It was hard to believe anyone could just wave off something so horrific. It was as if he didn't even care. Obviously it wasn't the usual hunter kill they'd found. Something or someone had brutally attacked the animal, and Circe would be damned if she was going to let that slide.

"Maybe if you go get someone to come and clear it up, I can work out what happened and you can have a nice clear road. Win win." Moving her hands to her hips, Circe raised an eyebrow. "Or you can stay here with the bad smell and ward off the crows..."

It had been another sleepless night for Irei. The events of the day past hadn't helped much with that issue.

Aww, did that thing bruise your ego?

Irei sighed and ignored the spirit. He had meant to go for a run, something he seemed to do now just to get out of the bungalow, but felt too weak and had just been walking instead. He wondered if he was getting sick. A few people had commented on his thinner frame, noting that his clothes were loose. That didn't seem to be a good sign.

He was up near Helicharis when he saw a large crowd, well a large crowd considering the time it was in the morning, huddled around in the road. Then the smell hit him. Decay. Death. As a necromancer Irei was very accustomed to such things. Not like how a doctor would be, but perhaps more like a mortician. It just made him feel numb and his body started to move automatically towards the dead thing in the road.

Irei looked down at the animal. This was different from a natural killing. Most animals hunted for food. Every edible thing that hadn't been eaten by the carrion was still there and fairly intact. He looked up and glanced at the people around the dead animal. There was a man and a woman bickering about whether there was something to do, and a young girl and Farad (whom he gave a smiled and a slight wave to) talking about how much of a shame it was or some such.

Their voices seemed like whispers to Irei, who with his rift into the spirit world could hear the cat's spirit, confused and not understanding what had happened. It spoke no words and only felt as it stayed near the body, wondering why.

Irei took of the black beads at his wrist and held them in his hand, using the stones as a catalyst for his power. He turned away from the crowd and bent down to the animal spirit and whispered to the spirit, offering it emotional comfort rather than words it really wouldn't understand.

"It's alright. It's over. Go to sleep now." He then whispered a spell under his breath, while rubbing the beads as he sent the animal spirit to peace. He stood back up, putting the bracelet back on, and looks back at the people who had come to the body. He certainly understood if they thought he was a nutcase. Most people who didn't understand what he was and what he could do, definitely thought the same or similar.

"What can be done for the animal has been done." Nothing was attaching the spirit to the empty corpse anymore. This was the first time he had performed a necromancy spell since he had come to Elysium.

They won't understand. They'll just just going to label you as mad again. Would they be wrong?

Irei was very, very tired.

Beautiful morning it was and by the look of the clear sky it was only going to get better. A morning walk usually did Dante wonders especially if he hadn't slept much the night before. And what lycanthrope could sleep really? The full moon had just passed and Dante was the type that always had extra energy even after the multiple shifts. He was whistling a happy tune as he walked down the road that led to the town. Hands were shoved in his pockets and his head was held high when he spotted the crowd on the road.

A smile twitched at the corners of his mouth but he held it back as he continued forward. He caught the scent of flesh and blood even before he reached the crowd and slowed enough to not run into anyone. He peered over the shoulders of the people around the animal. Curious they were, as was he as he moved around the man next to the red head and toward the woman who was crouched next to the fallen cat.

"Damn shame," he said. He glanced at the strangers to see their reaction. "Heh, someone should probably move it out of the road," he added as he moved his way past the people and stood above the animal. "C'mon buddy," he said as he grabbed the dead cat by the scruff on the back of its neck. He lifted it easily and held it in front of his body. The guts were still dangling from the cut across the stomach but the sight or the smell didn't bother Dante.

"Should probably bury it somewhere." Problem was finding a hole to put the animal in. Dante looked at the two foxes that lingered nearby and whistled sharply at them. Only intelligent creatures would stay as they were and not run off in fear. They were probably animals that could shift into people. "Hey foxes. Make yourselves useful and start digging a hole with them paws." Dante smiled broadly in their direction and then turned his face to the sun. A lovely day indeed, even with the carrions flying overhead. His free hand laid in his pocket easily and he began whistling again to pass the time.

Shige startled a bit at the sound of the human's whistle. Already annoyed at himself for being nervous enough to spook at such a mundane thing, the other man's commands made his mood take a distinct plunge southward. The fox snarled and began stalking closer shifting into a well dressed Asian man along the way.

"I'm not an animal, filth." He snapped, his pace slowing to an arrogant swagger. "And if we bury the body we can't figure out what killed it." Shige threw a curious look at the dark haired woman who had been examining the body.

Switching to Japanese, he turned back to Mitsuko and curled his lip in a disdainful smirk. "It amazes me how the intelligence level in humans is so different from one to the next..." Arrogance, as usual, blinded him to the danger of being impolite to someone bigger and stronger than him...

Dante smirked knowingly when the fox shifted into a human. Fully dressed at that. Impressive to others, not to Dante. The fox-turned-man was stalking toward Dante and the werewolf grinned broadly. How cute was it that the little fox was trying to act like a big, tough man? Still Dante was unphased as the fox spoke, though he acted as if he were interested in what the boy was saying.

"Yeah," he said suddenly, dragging out the word sarcastically. "I know you're not an animal, that's why I talked to you in the first place. Animals wouldn't have understood what I was saying." Still he grinned, ever so cheerfully. "Why do we care what killed it? It's an animal and the last I checked, wild animals live by the 'survival of the fittest' rule. Something much bigger than it—" and here he paused to glare at Shige with eyes that throbbed with darkness. "And much bigger than you killed it. We bury it, stop the birds from pecking at it, and move on. Unless—"

Dante paused again and this time held the animal out toward Shige. "You and your foxy girlfriend over there are hungry and wanted a little snack?"

Mitsuko rolled her eyes at the blatant show of machismo and arrogant superiority from the new human. She transformed into her human form-- dressed in a short red dress, looking like she were ready to go to a club rather than examine an animal corpse. "The last time I checked, we didn't work for you." She crossed her arms over her chest and approached Dante. "Also..." She took a liberal sniff of him. Even with the stench of the corpse, she could still pick it up on him. The distinct animal aura, more prominent now, so soon after the moon. "I'd say you're a lot more likely to chow down on something like that than we are. Lycans are very stupid and hostile."

She glared at him. "You want it buried so bad?" She picked a stick up off the ground. She tossed it to Dante. Mid-flight, it transformed into a shovel. "You do it. But I agree with Shigeru. Might be a good idea to find out what killed it, so we can take care of it." She cocked her head. "Or maybe you're trying to hide something, Wolfboy."

When the man held out the dead animal to him, Shige had backed off making a noise of disgust, turning and fishing in his pockets for his cigarettes. He needed something to kill the overwhelming smell of body fluids and death before it made him gag. Lighting his cigarette he inhaled deeply, burying his nose in the smell of the smoke before turning around again.

Mitsuko's words made Shige's grin turn cruel. He hadn't caught the smell from the man but he'd had a prickling suspicion from the man's words and actions. Lighting his cigarette he inhaled deeply, burying his nose in the smell of the smoke before turning around again.

Shige's words started off innocently enough, "Na, Mitsuko, The full moon was just the other day, right?" He slid smoothly in next to her, turning as though the man didn't even exist, "Maybe one of those filthy lycans did it? And if so...what was It doing out of It's 'cage'...maybe we aren't as safe as we thought..." The last he said with a smug smile, raising his eyebrow questioningly and turning back to the other man. "What do you think?"

The beauty of the morning attracted Kaiya outdoors and the young fae found herself walking not in town, but outside of it. The fields contained many beautiful flowers and Kaiya couldn't help but pluck a few of them as she traveled along. It wasn't long before the fae spied a large group of people in the middle of the gravel road. She was curious, as faes tend to be, and she lifted herself off the ground and fluttered over toward the people.

"Maa nante koto nanda..." she gasped as she saw the dead cat hanging limply from Dante's grasp. "Doushita no?" She asked under her breath not expecting anyone in the crowd to understand her. Kaiya made her way to the front of the people and stood right in front of the dead cat, and the man holding it. She looked up at Dante with wide eyes as her peach-colored wings had begun to droop in sadness. Kaiya reached a hand out to the cat's head and stroked the fur softly.

"Kawaisou ni..." she muttered as her lower lip jutted out slightly in a pout.

Mitsuko turned her attention away from the obnoxious werewolf and the dead animal to the new arrival. Mitsuko's eyes widened. She recognized this girl right away. She was featured in so many of Logan's drawings of late. She was without a doubt a fae. As Mitsuko doubted there were many Japanese-speaking fae in Elysium, she figured this was Kaiya, whom Irei had spoken about. "Something killed it. We're not sure what. Shigeru-san and I were going to investigate, but he--" She gestured to Dante. "Just wants to bury it."

She took a hesitant step towards Kaiya. "Are you Kaiya-san?" She moved carefully. The girl looked like she might break if it with a strong enough wind. But she glared at Dante. "Oh, put that thing down, Wolfboy," she switched to English with ease. "The rest of its guts are going to fall out if you're not careful."

Shige had never seen a Fae in his life. So when Kaiya landed near them and stepped up to touch the dead beast he had to do a double take. At first he felt a little annoyed that the tension seemed to dissolve once the girl arrived but it was hard to feel irritated at someone who seemed effortlessly innocent. Huffing slightly he shrugged his shoulders and lifted his chin while muttering, "Shou ga nai..."

Looking back at Kaiya he tsked her gently, "It may not be safe to touch it....like Mitsuko-san said, we don't know what killed it." He felt himself getting annoyed again and took another drag on his cigarette. He wanted to introduce himself to the girl but the entire situation felt too awkward. "A no..." He rolled his eyes at himself and turned around, putting a hand on his hip. "...kuso..." Now really wasn't the time for introductions anyways but still...he hated feeling awkward. Maybe when things calmed down....Mitsuko seemed to know her maybe she could- Stopping that train of thought he forced himself to pay attention to the situation at hand.

Turning to the brunette who had knelt by the corpse he cocked his eyebrow. "Oi, Miss, what can you figure from the body? Lets get this over with. I have no desire to be eaten by whatever ate that thing..."

Assuming that the 'Oi, Miss' was directed at her, and not even in the mood to correct the young man who had said it, Circe looked up at him. "It hard to tell really," She sighed, scratching the back of her neck.

"Every injury seems to contradict another. It could have bled out from the puncture wounds on it's neck, but it's got a broken neck which is a pointless action if it was already dead. Then the attack across the belly, I'd have to say that would come from an attack during a battle...."

Circe through up her hands in defeat. "I honestly couldn't tell you just from this mess," She turned to the young man and raised an eyebrow. "Do you know if there's someone here who could perform an autopsy? I've never done one on the recently deceased, and I'm sure there's a lot more to it than what I'm used to."

Irei sighed. He wondered if there was even a point of him talking to anyone now. Nobody seemed to have noticed him there at all. It was the first act of necromancy he had done in Elysium, and no one even noticed. He knew he was thin, but he wasn't disappearing. Was he?

"The cat wasn't killed by an animal." He looked at Dante, the one holding on the to the dead thing by it's foot. "Animals don't kill prey, and then leave it to rot. The only thing that's been eating it are crows and bugs. And exactly why would you want to bury a wild animal? Just move it away from the road and let nature take it's course."

Not even Mitsuko or Kaiya had taken notice of him and it wasn't like they were standing that far from him. Irei was offended that a dead animal had more of a presence to everyone than he did. He walked away from the group and leaned against a tree trunk, eying them all. "I'd say someone killed it, not something. And judging from the organs not actually being with the body, I'd say it was moved to the road from the original kill site. Someone wanted to show off."

Irei pulled a crumpled cigarette out of his pocket and squatted down. His head was starting to feel dizzy. He swallowed and pressed a hand against his forehead. He should have eaten something before coming outside.

"But then what would I know? I'm just a fucking necromancer. Shall I bring the kitty back to life so that all of you can ask it your incessant questions?" Irei lit his cigarette and took a drag from it. He was obviously very annoyed, and still, very tired.

By this point Shige was pressing the back of his hand under his nose, trying to escape the smell. Even through the smoke he could still smell it and it made his stomach churn. Walking away from the body he turned and regarded the other Asian man for the first time. He made it a point to ignore anyone who did not interest him but this....human, was he?...had said something worthy of noting.

Shige shot the man a dark look at the word 'Necromancer' and curled his lip. Another creature mired in death. All the same, the man was astute. Shige hadn't noticed those things before. "...Eeh? More smart humans, it's like they're multiplying," he muttered to himself in Japanese.

"...You know a lot more than others, Necromancer or not." The word 'Necromancer' was said with some distaste. "So..." He looked back at the brunette, finally noticing her tight jogging outfit and raising an eyebrow at her. "We know it killed for fun, it left puncture wounds, it's showing off it's kill....What does that sound like to you?"

It wasn't Irei alone that Kaiya failed to notice as her eyes remained glued to the corpse of the dead cat. It wasn't until Mitsuko and Irei had both spoken did she come out of her reverie. She glanced at Mitsuko, ready to say something when Irei walked off, obviously annoyed.

"Hai," she said to Mitsuko. "Kaiya-desu." Kaiya bowed to Mitsuko in greeting and then turned her eyes toward Irei. Her features frowned slightly and she was torn with staying and finding out what happened, and going to talk to her friend. There was also another Japanese man standing next to Mitsuko and Kaiya wanted to meet him as well. When she looked at him, however, she found that he bore a striking resemblance to Daisuke, the fae that had first befriended her many years ago. Kaiya stared at him for a moment and then bowed her head in greeting. She smiled sweetly at him before she spoke again. "Sumimasen," she said with another bow and then backed away from them. Kaiya turned on her heel and went up to Irei as he stood against a nearby tree.

"Shinsuke-san," she said with wide eyes that looked like they were about to burst out in tears. She was worried about him as his demeanor told Kaiya that he was upset, or at the very least irritated. Plus, she hadn't understood a word he said but he said them with a tone of annoyance. "Daijobu...?" she said in a worried tone. Her winds fluttered slowly, a sign of her worry, as she gazed up at him waiting for an answer.

----

"Hai, Kaiya-desu," = "Yes, I am Kaiya."
"Sumimasen" = "Excuse me"
"Daijobu?" = "Are you okay?"

Minutes passed and more people joined the scene. One of them even came up to the dead cat and started petting it on the head. Dante's left brow arched upward while watching the girl with the see-through wings. She was speaking Japanese, just like the annoying foxes, except she was much cuter than either of them. Dante had the urge to just drop the cat and drag the cute girl off for a nice cup of coffee, or whatever girls with wings drank, but he refrained. He let the chattering of the crowd die down before he spoke again. No annoyance laced his voice or his features. He was smiling as usual, and he seemed slightly amused.

"You, fox girl, nice trick with the stick. I bet you're a blast at parties. And you're right, this cat here," he lifted it up and looked at its face. "Is something I would eat were it the full moon. But it ain't a full moon and I can’t be a werewolf whenever I want so no snack for me.” A lie, but that didn’t stop him from laughing out loud at her before his lips turned down into a sad pout. “And you don’t have to be so mean, Pretty. Can’t we all just get along and sing ‘Kumbaya’? The only reason I want this beautiful creature buried is so that it may rest in peace.”

Another chuckle and he started to hum the tune to the peaceful song and began to sway to the music in his head. He glanced down at the shovel and moved to pick it up. Digging holes was no problem for him considering his experience back home and he put the animal down gently before he started to stab at the ground to remove some dirt. He eyed the girl with the wings, eyed the rest of the crowd that still talked of wanting to find answers. The fox boy finally said something that made sense and Dante smirked secretly. He was implying murder, but murder never applied to wild animals. The Head Council wouldn't care just as long as it wasn't a human. And if they didn't care Dante wasn't going to be the one to bother them with the matter. He chuckled to himself and continued to dig the hole. It wasn’t hard and it didn’t take him much time to finish. Werewolf strength and stamina sure came in handy, yes indeed. Three-feet deep and four-feet wide when he finished and he jumped out of the grave effortlessly.

“Bout to put his poor poor animal inside. Anyone have any last words? Thoughts? Last minute autopsies to perform?” He rolled his eyes at the idea of an autopsy. Who did autopsies of dead lynxes anyway? Dante didn’t wait for anyone to reply though when he lifted the cat gently this time and lowered it into the ground.

Mitsuko remained quite while Shigeru spoke with the woman-- was she a doctor or something? She seemed to be very knowledgeable. Talked like the doctors Mitsuko had scammed. From Mitsuko's perspective, there was one thing that was very clear...

This was fun for whoever did it.

When Irei arrived, Mitsuko frowned at him slightly. He seemed to be in a real mood. She rolled her eyes. "Maybe corpse is offending the little wolfboy's delicate sensibilities. Or he doesn't want us to know how he went psycho." She frowned slightly at Irei. "Oi, Irei-san... What got up your ass? You seem in a mood." She blew a kiss to him. "You're really pretty when you pout though."

Mitsuko bowed slightly to Kaiya. "I am Kamiyama Mitsuko. It is very nice to meet you." He could see why Logan like this girl so much. She was very pretty, with a sort of sadness around her. It probably appealed to his temperamental, tortured artist psyche.

Looking back to Dante, Mitsuko gave him a flirtatious. "Damn right I'm fun at parties. I'm the life of them." She crossed her arms over her chest. "And who says you have to be a wolf to unleash the inner animal? Lot of psychos in the world..."

She yawned as Dante continued on and began to dig the hole. She smoothed down her dress and strode over to Irei. Without asking his permission, she slipped a hand into his jeans. "Am I feeling you up for no reason or do you have another cigarette?" She gave him a small smile. "Oh well. Either way it's a win for me. Hey Genko... You got one? I'm hanging out with too many smokers right now."

Shige watched the lycan with a trace of amusement, it was just as he expected. No sense whatsoever, only instinct. "I'm simply saying, Wolf, that what killed this could kill us." He couldn't help but smirk when Mitsuko addressed the man. She really was 100% Kitsune.

But all the fuss over the little Fae, Kaiya, was irritating him. She was giving the other Asian man eyes and it made Shige huff into his cigarette. He switched gears and focused his attention on Mitsuko, particularly when she went shoving her hands into the other man's pants. My my.

"If you fish around in my jeans like that you can have as many cigarettes as you want..." Shige gave her a bold smirk, raising an eyebrow as if to say 'I dare you'.

Irei raised an eyebrow at the male kitsune having caught the venom in added to the word necromancer. That was something he was used to. People not liking or trusting the man with sway over the dead. "Most humans are smarter than you give them credit for little demon boy. Yes I do know quite a bit about death. It seems to follow me. I cannot imagine why." Irei could feel the sarcasm dripping from his words.

Irei blinked slowly, his body seeming to only work on the energy that came from spite. He smiled tiredly at Kaiya and wrapped an arm around her shoulders hugging her and resting his chin on top of her head. "Yes, I'm alright. Just a bit tired. Didn't get much sleep last night." He hugged her perhaps a little bit too tightly, the image of her and Hayate together still burned into his mind. He was very worried about petite fae.

He gave a look of annoyance toward Dante. "You're a werewolf, right? Do you normally bury things after you've killed them? What's the point? Some other animal will just come along and dig it back up. You should have taken it into the woods away from here if you were worried that more people would see it." Irei was already starting to dislike the man with the arrogant smirk who continued to treat him like he didn't exist.

Irei was about to reply to Mitsuko, but suddenly her hand was in his pocket and he just looked down at his pants. He had gone from being pretty much ignored to suddenly the center of attention...sorta. Being the obliging sort of man he was, he took the cigarette from his mouth and offered it to the kitsune woman as his other hand continued to rub Kaiya's shoulder gently. "Here. Most in that pack are bent or broken." Irei smirked a little placed the cigarette in between her lips.

Shige felt something in him snap at 'demon' comment. "Oi, Omae. Uruse!" He snarled, "Don't insult me, brat. You'll regret it." It really didn't help that the other man had his arm around Kaiya and was putting a cigarette in Mitsuko's mouth.

His alpha male side was bristling with barely contained anger and jealousy. Compounded with the filthy scent of death threatening to send him vomiting in the brush, Shige's temper had reached it's limit. What the SHIT. Shige'd had it. Turning sourly away from the group he took a final puff on his cigarette and spoke, barely managing to keep his voice even. "Fuck this, figure it out your-fucking-selves."

With a callous flick of his hand the cigarette flew into the were's fresh dug grave and Shige stalked back down the road to town.

Kaiya smiled at Mitsuko upon the introduction, and then smiled up at Irei. He was the first man she met that didn't want to take advantage of her. And ever since he had shown her nothing but kindness. She cared for him deeply, and his hug was most welcome. She would have said more to him were it not for Mitsuko's sudden appearance at his side. Kaiya smiled until the other Japanese girl put her hand down Irei's pocket. It was so forward, and Irei hadn't even done anything to show interest in Mitsuko. Perhaps they had met at another time and shared something intimate? Kaiya wasn't sure, but she felt as if she were invading upon a private scene all of a sudden.

"Sumimasen..." she mumbled again with a deep, apologetic bow. She backed away from Irei and Mitsuko until she ran smack dab into someone else. Turning around she found that she had run into Shige and he looked positively annoyed as well, or at least irritated about something. Kaiya was flailing and she began to get nervous that people would get angry with her.

"Gomen nasai," she offered Shige with wide, brown eyes. She glanced up at him, her lower lip caught in between her teeth. She had no idea what everyone was saying since they were all speaking English, but by the sound of it it wasn't any good. But then the kitsune snarled at Irei and Kaiya's found herself frozen in her spot. Something happened along the way and while she didn't understand it, she felt that it was somehow her fault.

Shige, entirely intent upon leaving had nearly run over Kaiya and a few steps away he stopped and turned around, managing in an more gentle voice, "Mo ii, nandemonai...mo ii. Lets meet under better circumstances, na?"

At this rate he was pretty well screwed for making a decent impression on anyone. He'd hope he'd get the chance to show a better face to the little Fae girl. Nodding his head to the Fae he turned and waved once, calling over his shoulder, "Mitsuko, make them behave."

Mitsuko cast a flirtatious look to Shigeru. "Will you let me keep anything else I find in there?" She was starting to wonder what exactly Shigeru's feelings were for her. Yes, she had told him she had a boyfriend, but fall was coming up quickly. While Mitsuko was fairly certain most men had the hots for her, she was sure being the only vixen with mating season approaching was amping up the young todd.

She rolled her eyes at the flagrant display of male testosterone between Shigeru, Dante and Irei. Oh, boys... They always had to get the last word, didn't they? Wanted to be the big man and were threatened by any other male. This was a trait Mitsuko had exploited many, many times in her life.

Mitsuko accepted the cigarette from Irei. She inhale deeply as he still held the cigarette. She tilted back her head and exhaled the smoke. "Arigato." She then leaned in and gave Irei a kiss on the cheek, close to his mouth. "You're a bad influence on me. I like it."

She rolled her eyes greatly as Shigeru continued on his rant. "Genko! Butsu butsu iwanai-de!" He was really acting like a brat. Coming from Mitsuko, this was quite the statement, as she knew she could be a huge brat.

She began briefly confused by Kaiya's apologizing. She shook her head slowly. "Why are you--" She cocked her head in a very fox-like manner. She then realized she had just basically molested Irei right in front of her. "Oh, Irei-san and I aren't... Wait, it's all..."

But it was too late. Kaiya had run directly into Shige. She sighed deeply, leaving Irei's side to help Kaiya. She put her hands on Kaiya's shoulders, leading her back towards Irei. "Ignore him, Kaiya-chan. He's a bitter little Genko. But he can be nice when he's in a decent mood. Don't let him get to you."

Mitsuko rolled her eyes once again as Shigeru retreated. "You're not doing too well yourself, Genko!"

She gently rubbed Kaiya's back. "It's all right. Don't get the wrong idea about Irei and I. We're just friends. I'm just... Very friendly. Right, Irei-san?"

It had been a little strange for Sascha to wake that morning to an empty bungalow. Irei usually spent most mornings cooking breakfast for the pair before Sascha left for the library, but the unfamiliar stillness of their home had prevented Sascha from sleeping the extra hour or so that was normal for him. There was something unsettling about being alone at such an early hour, and Sascha had thrown together a vegetarian breakfast wrap before heading out the door to the library in Helicharis. It surely couldn't hurt to be early for once, after all.

Sascha whistled as he walked, not really paying much attention to his surroundings as his mind wandered to the topic of a new story idea he'd been entertaining. He was so preoccupied with his thoughts that he nearly crashed into Sweeney when she stopped abruptly in front of him, the gentle wagging motion of her tail ceasing as her body tensed. He looked up and blinked in confusion for a few moments as he realized they'd come upon a fair-sized gathering of people, several of whom had congregated around a hole that one of the men had dug just off the main road.

While most of the individuals were unfamiliar to Sascha, he did recognize Farad and the cynical British pervert from the library- Giles, if memory served him correctly- and he headed over to see what had caused the commotion, Sweeney trailing reluctantly along after him. He laid a hand lightly on Farad's shoulder as he leaned over the edge of the hole to see exactly what was being buried, grimacing slightly at the sight of the slaughtered carcass.

"Suddenly my morning doesn't seem so bad after all," he remarked dryly, glancing briefly at Farad and then down at Sweeney, who was pacing nervously at his side. It was obvious that something about the dead creature bothered the canine, and Sascha gave Farad's shoulder a squeeze before backing away from the hole and motioning for Sweeney to follow him.

As he turned away from the group, he was startled to see Irei leaning against a tree just a short distance from where he was standing. His roommate looked even paler than usual, and Sascha could tell from his body language and the dark circles underneath his eyes that Irei had probably been having trouble sleeping again. That seemed to be happening quite a bit recently, and Sascha was beginning to grow concerned for his friend's health.

"I always miss all the excitement. My timing must be off," he complained good-naturedly as he approached Irei, waving his partially eaten breakfast wrap at the other man as an offering. "Finish this. I don't have the stomach for it after seeing that lovely little spectacle."

He eyed the two Japanese women who seemed to be flocking to Irei with some interest, smiling as charmingly as possible as he raised an eyebrow at his roommate suggestively. He'd caught the tail-end of the taller woman's comment, and even though it had been in Japanese, he could still understand most of what was said. He'd picked up a good deal of the language from Irei since the two had first become acquainted, just as Irei had relied heavily on Sascha to help develop his English comprehension. Sascha understood more Japanese than he could speak, though, and he rarely even bothered unless he was trying to irritate Irei by purposely mispronouncing the words with as much of his Southern twang as possible.

"Don't want to introduce me to your lady friends, Irei?" He grinned at the other man before winking at both of the women knowingly. "Not that I can really blame you. I'd probably want to keep such pretty company all for myself, too."

OOC Edit: Sorry about my last post. When I reposted it the italics disappeared. Actually everything Irei said was in Japanese except for when he was speaking to Dante. *pets the confused little Kaiya* ^^;

Irei was called a brat by a fox throwing a tantrum. He could help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Irei tiredly waved good bye to the male kitsune."Ja ne." He grinned and looked at Mitsuko. "Are you going to make me behave Mitsuko-chan?"

As Kaiya pulled away from his arm, Irei just ended up sitting on the ground, his head bowed. The 'perfect' picture of the triumphant alpha. Irei chuckled at his pathetic self. Why did he care about protecting people he's just met? He watched Kaiya flail a awkwardly away from him. Would she even believe him if he told her that he believed her new friend was not good for her. She seemed so attached to him.

Irei looked when Mitsuko mentioned that she and he weren't together at all and nodded slowly. He was feeling a little sluggish. "Ah, Mitsuko-chan is right. She's the attached one." He also agreed that she was friendly. This was probably her most friendly act toward him since they had sipped sake together.

Irei leaned his head back on against the tree and rolled his head to the side when he noticed Sascha coming up the road with his dog Sweeney. The person who killed that cat had apparently picked the crossroads to everywhere to place the carcass.

"You have horrible timing." He looked up at his friend and took the offered food. He stared at it for a while, but ate the vegetarian fare under the watchful glare of his roommate. It was true that he hadn't been eating on a regular basis much lately. "Ah, this is Mitsuko Kamiyama, she's a kitsune." He reached out and touched Mitsuko's tail for emphasis.

Then Irei turned to look at Kaiya, his expression softened. "And that is Kaiya." He reached out and waved her back toward him. "Kaiya-chan, I want to introduce you to my friend. His name is Sascha. He understands some Japanese, but he's a big flirt so be careful around him." Irei turned to Sascha and whispers to him in English. "Remember, she's off limits."

Mitsuko noticed the hot new arrival with the dog. She smiled at him. "I would have thought a guy like you would have excitement around him all the time," she said flirtatiously. He was definitely gorgeous. This must have been Irei's roommate.

She took the cigarette from Irei again and took a puff before giving it back to the necromancer. She smiled at Irei when he asked his question of behavior. "Well, I could spank you... But that wouldn't be really as a deterrent.... More just enjoyment." She licked her lips seductively. "But that's what you get for having that sweet little ass."

Mitsuko wriggled her tail when Irei touched it. It was quite like when someone touched her ears, but it was still a bit surprising. "Hey!" She squealed, laughing softly. "That happens to be sensitive." Her cheeks went a little red.

Walking down to Sascha, Mitsuko held out her hand. "It's very nice to meet you, Sascha." She eyed him and sighed greatly. "Someone tell me why I meet so many gorgeous men just as I get a boyfriend... The world is unfair and determined to test my will."

Dante continued with his burial of the cat even though no one was paying attention to it anymore. It was better that way since he wasn't being bothered by their incessant yapping and bickering and could actually finish what he had started. He was still whistling 'Kumbaya' while filling the hole with dirt, and he seemed oblivious to everything else going on around him. He didn't seem to notice Shige's departure or even the arrival of the hippie with the dog, or even the subsequent flirting of the fox girl.

But he did. And it amused him. Death was mere inches away from their bodies and yet it bore no consequence apart from the first few moments they discovered the body. Pity that they took death so lightly but he supposed that that was a natural consequence considering that more than half of the world's population was already dead.

The werewolf scooped up the last bit of earth and laid it on top of the mound and patted it with the shovel. It was done and the cat was buried. Dante wiped at his brow with the back of his hand as most people did after they finished hard work. The truth was that it wasn't very hard for him at all, but it was better to put up the act than to act like the king of the world. Better to show false weakness when there was none there in reality.

"Well, that's done," he said rather loudly to catch everyone's attention. "Thanks to all of you for coming out for the service. Beautiful as it was, I must bid adieu to all of you." He bowed rather dramatically and then tossed the shovel back toward Mitsuko. "Thanks Pretty," he said with a grin. "I'll see you around." He then winked at Kaiya and gave her a wide smile. "I'll definitely have to run into you again, Cutie." He nodded his head toward the other people in the group and slid his hands back into his pockets as he began to saunter toward Helicharis.

Kaiya was already feeling uncomfortable with all of the forward flirting that was going on out in the open. The fae was the type of girl who was used to more traditional means of Japanese courting. Not that she was innocent to the ideas of sex, but her exposure to the act had been limited to times in the brothel. There, men would come in and choose her discreetly. She didn't have to flirt to get their attention because they didn't ask for it. Afterward, when she lived on her own and had been approached by men, it was always indirectly as well.

The appearance of Sascha on the scene made things calm again. She didn't know what Mitsuko had said to him, but Kaiya bowed to the man and smiled. "Hajimemashite, Sascha-san," she said. The man didn't look like a big flirt but she trusted Irei's words and kept her greeting simple. She had begun to retreat back toward Irei just as the large man with the shovel tossed the instrument back to Mitsuko. He spoke again, something that she didn't understand, and then winked at Kaiya while speaking.

Kaiya blinked at him and then glanced over at Irei and Mitsuko. "Ano... what did he say to me?" She asked while feeling somewhat uneasy around Dante. She wasn't sure what it was about him, and maybe it was just the entire situation, but he gave her a weird feeling. She shook it off though and then smiled at the dog that lingered near Sascha's side.

"Kawaii!" she said and sank to her knees while patting at the ground to call the dog over to her.

Well now, this little crowd certainly seemed like an interesting mix of personalities. Sascha was once again struck by the peculiarity of having so many physically attractive people in a single location, but he was hardly about to complain. After all, it put the odds alarmingly in his favor.

Sascha smiled as charmingly as humanly possible at the bold, beautiful little fox-girl (that was what 'kitsune' meant, wasn't it?), blinking his heavy-lidded eyes at her as he returned her flirtations with gusto. What an absolute tease. He liked her already.

"Boyfriend, you say? I suppose he doesn't like to share, either." He accepted her hand in a gentle handshake before cocking an eyebrow roguishly and leaning forward as if to kiss her knuckles; instead, he slid his fingers to the back of her wrist as he turned her hand over and pressed a kiss to her palm, all while maintaining eye contact with the foxy little lady.

His attention was briefly pulled from Mitsuko by the remarks from the man who'd been burying the mangled animal. Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to step to the side just enough to avoid getting hit by the shovel the man had tossed in their direction, and he glanced back over his shoulder at the departing figure. He'd learned enough from his encounters with the other weres (first Jack, then Adrienne, and then Jack again) to be able to eke out the distinctive mental energy patterns of that particular breed of creature. This man was practically radiating with a suppressed feral energy, and there was no doubt in Sascha's mind that he was a werewolf.

If I had known there'd be a sing-along, I'd have brought my guitar, Sascha quipped mentally, a smile creeping onto his lips as his projected comment addressed the man's retreating back. He knew he was taking a few liberties by speaking directly into the stranger's mind unsolicited, but he was curious to see what response the action would yield. Shame you couldn't stay longer. It's not every day you find someone willing to put so much energy into burying roadkill.

Sweeney, in the meanwhile, had grown antsy sitting on the ground beside Sascha, and she immediately popped to her feet, tail wagging, as Kaiya motioned to her. She pranced over to Kaiya and nosed at her arm before leaning forward to give the fey a slobbery kiss of greeting right on her cheek. Sascha thought the whole scenario was almost too adorable to stomach, but he couldn't help but smile at the girl's obvious excitement. So this was the Kaiya he'd heard about from Irei. Interesting.

"Ah, it looks like Sweeney has made a new friend...Kaiya-chan? May I call you that?" Sascha's Japanese was a little slower than a native speaker's might have been, and there were occasional, brief pauses in his speech as he tried to work out the syntax mid-sentence, but at least he was understandable and not as awkward as when Irei had first begun to teach him the language. "Any friend of Irei's is a friend of mine. I only wish all his friends were so pretty."

He held out a hand to Irei to help the other man to his feet, still concerned at the unusual paleness of his complexion. "Since I got such an early start this morning, I was thinking of dropping by the restaurant for some real breakfast before I head to the library. Anyone want to come entertain me?"

Irei couldn't help but smile at the sweet little ass comment. He took the cigarette back and took a drag from it before releasing the second-hand smoke back into the air. "Ah. Not a deterrent at all. In fact quite pleasurable."

Irei noticed Dante's complete lack of acknowledgment toward him. He watched him go with his eyes narrowed. He was already starting to hate him. He looked up at Kaiya and placed a reassuring hand over hers. "Ah, Don't worry over him. He's a whistling idiot. But if he ever comes near you again, tell me, alright?" Irei words seemed to contradict each other, but he didn't want her to worry, just be a bit wary around him and others...

He watched as Sweeney seemed to take Kaiya's mind off of the situation. Irei chuckled softly and watched as the dog, who wouldn't give him so much as the time of day (which would be odd if she dead and he'd have to chalk it up as being too much time spent around fae dust), played with her and overall very much enjoyed the small fae's attention.

Irei took Sascha's offered hand and weakly pulled himself up, stumbling slightly as soon as both feet were back under him. He nodded about the restaurant and decided to go willingly, because he knew that Sascha, within the full view of Mitsuko and Kaiya, would literally force feed him food. "Ah, sounds very entertaining. Especially if accompanied by two such beautiful girls. Kaiya-chan, would you like to go to the restaurant and eat with us?" Irei smiled.

Mitsuko smiled back at Sascha. Damn... There were some beautiful men here in Elysium. The nymphomaniacal part of her was cursing her resolve to have a steady, faithful relationship. Yes, she loved Loki, but did that mean she couldn't....

"Mou," Mitsuko made irritated noise as Sascha kissed her palm. "We actually haven't had that conversation yet. But I doubt he'd be thrilled by it. Boyfriends get weird about things like that." She licked her lips again. "Dammit. If I had known there were so many charming men in Elysium, I might have fought falling in love harder." Not that it would have done much good. She'd already fought falling for Loki, but was gone like a ton of bricks.

When Sascha turned to attention to the Lycan, Mitsuko turned hers to Kaiya. "Kawaii Kaiya-chan." Mitsuko was already horribly fond of the seemingly young Fae. Sascha's dog was also adorable.

She nodded in approval as Sascha spoke Japanese to Kaiya. "You are quite good," Mitsuko said flirtatiously. "But I'd be quite willing to teach you more of my tongue." That tongue darted out and wet her lips again.

At Irei's reply to her spanking comment, Mitsuko whimpered as she thought about what it would be like to smack that tight little ass. Oh, she should not have been thinking about that....

"I would love to entertain you, Sascha-san," Mitsuko said. She walked to Irei as he got up and took hold of his arm. "I'll entertain you while I'm at it."

So Mitsuko had a little bit of a crush on Irei. Who could blame her?

There wasn't much on Dante's mind as he exited the scene. The incessant blab of the crowd was getting to him and he needed to get away; plus, he started to get a craving for some food. Couldn't be helped really, not with all the dead meat—decomposing as it were—in his hands. He laid it in the ground since the animal had done its job of grabbing everyone's attention and let it rest it peace. There was no point in letting it be scrutinized by curious eyes.

Walking down the gravel path to town the last thing the lycanthrope expected was for his mind to have another voice inside of it. His feet stopped their traveling. His left brow arched, curiosity grabbing a hold of him, and he turned around to look at the group of people. The man with the dog—he was the one—and Dante had to admit at being intrigued by it all. He cupped his right hand raised it to his brow, shielding his eyes from the sun.

Do you make a habit of invading a person's mind? He asked rather casually as if it were an everyday occurrence. It wasn't and Dante had been taken for a loop but years of experience taught him to keep his initial reactions restrained. They weren't accepted by society, not usually, and so he learned to hide them.

Got hungry. Going for some grub. He continued with a joker-esque grin on his face. A hand raised into the air in a stationary wave and he turned back around. Even roadkill deserves to be buried, don't you think? And Dante believed that. It wasn't everyday that someone took the time to kill such a beautiful creature and spill its innards for the world to see; it was only right that he take the time to bury it after it had been displayed. Or dragged out for sport. Whatever.

Dante strode away from the group easily and didn't think about them for the rest of his day.

Kaiya was unsure as to what was going on exactly with all of the English being spoken, but she tried her best to not let herself get too overwhelmed by it all. The Japanese fae busied herself with the sweet dog when the owner spoke up to her. She looked up at him with large, curious eyes and then nodded. "Yes, you can call me Kaiya-chan," she answered easily not thinking that she was much older than the man she was speaking with. In fact she was older than all the people in her company at the moment but the fact that she looked younger (and oftentimes felt younger due to her lack of experience with the world outside of Japan) she did not argue the use of 'chan' with her name.

Kaiya would have accepted Irei's invitation to eat were it not for the fact that Mitsuko had latched onto Irei's arm quite publicly. It wasn't that Kaiya disliked Mitsuko or anything; on the contrary, she thought the kitsune was charming and pretty. What she did, however, was misread Mitsuko's very forward actions, something that she was not used to seeing in Japan. From her experience in the brothels whenever a woman outwardly made advances on a man it meant that he was their property. The other girls knew not to mess with him and they backed off.

That was the vibe that Kaiya was getting and she was beginning to feel that Irei (and perhaps Sascha as well) would have preferred Mitsuko's company to her own. The fae lifted off her feet and hovered in the air slightly. "I cannot," she said in a slow, almost unsure voice. "I... I must get back home... I am sorry." She bowed her head to the group and then offered them a nervous smile before she flew off toward the town ahead of the others. She assumed they would go to the restaurant and have a good time without her, and more than likely forget all about the dead cat which was the original reason for all the ruckus in the first place.
