Who: Werewolves, friends, family... and fellow doctors.
Where: Medical Pavilion
When: Starts early morning, lasts throughout the day.
What: Time to treat the werewolves for their many, many injuries!

OOC Note: You don't have to interact with anyone in this thread (just put your character's name and [Narrative] beside it if they are just describing how they feel today/their injuries. Other than that, people can interact if they want.)

“Doctor coming through!” Pryce shouted above everyone’s heads. “Doctor coming through, people! Move it, move it, move it!”

He bumped and pushed and elbow-shoved his way through a massive crowd of family members and friends all huddled around one of the werewolves’ beds. Yikes on Mickey Mouse’s button up mini-trousers, there were way too many people up in here today. If he had to shove his way through another crowd of concerned and weeping babblers, Pryce was convinced he just may jump out of the first floor windows to his untimely end against a heap of sharply bladed grass. Oh darn, you evil, evil sharply bladed grass.

All of them were banged up pretty good, especially a young female one. Pryce raised an eyebrow at that once they brought her in and started treating her. The sleazy part of his mind wondered if all of the male werewolves decided to get frisky with her, but he wasn't asking that question out loud. Choosing to avoid her bed and make his way toward one of the other werewolves' beds, he found a young man trying to get up despite his injuries. "Sit your ass back down," Pryce said sternly, as he came to stop with his crossed arms over his chest. "You aren't going anywhere, bucko."

Snapping his fingers, Pryce drew over one of the cute nurses to occupy the boy. "Make sure he stays in bed," Pryce told her, bouncing his eyebrows up and down. He walked off once she widened her eyes at him. "Toodles!" Pryce shouted, walking away and waving his arm in the air without turning back around.

Adair burst into the Medical Pavilion, probably like Rambo would before he shot or blew shit up. He startled all those who were a few feet away and he only took a few seconds to toss a glance of apology towards their direction as he paced down the crowds, people moving him in all sorts of directions. The Psychic had his deep sense of worry to push people away from him as they huddled close. They seemed to look disgusted by him. What? Being worried and wanting to get to his 'party' was a crime?

The Aussie had no idea he didn't take the time to put out his cigarette before he entered the Medical Pavilion and it was dangling from his lips. The the ashes were leaving a trail behind him. Even as Adair spoke he didn't notice. Adair was so used to having the cancer sticks attached to his lips.

"DUDE! Get the fuck outta my way mates!"

Adair looked at various injured werewolves and he couldn't find the one he was looking for. "Oh shite! I don't give a damn about any of these people!" He grabbed at a doctors arm. "Hey! all of these are bloke Werewolves! You know where a girl named Adrienne is!?" Adair seemed to have a thicker accent when his emotions were stronger. Time to appear angry, demanding. Yeah, even when he was as short as hell.

Adair and Pryce

Pryce hadn't registered another whining voice getting in an uproar over the little wolfies, but he certainly did feel the grip on his arm and turned to aim a menacing glare at the person responsible for interrupting his 'stalking around and looking important' time. Only he didn't have time to make a menacing glare and found himself blinking blankly instead at the short little man latched onto his arm.

"Well, hello there, Mr. Strawberry Shortcake!" Pryce greeted him, reaching out to snatch the cigarette from Adair's mouth. "No smoking in the medical pavilion, mate," Pryce said with a mock wide-eyed expression, danging the cig back in forth in front of Adair's face before lifting it about a foot too high for the little man to reach. "Smoking causes cancer, and doctors don't like cancer. Noooo, weeee doooon't," he continued in Baby Speak, patting Adair on the head with his free hand. Pryce put out the cigarette in a bed pan behind himself and left it there for someone else to clean up.

Considering someone who claimed to be Adrienne's boyfriend brought her in, Pryce wondered who this little munchkin happened to be. Side-boyfriend? The girl liked short guys, that was for sure.

Adair laughed shaking his head as he glanced to the ground. Of all the doctors in the world, he just had to get the sarcastic asshole. He rubbed his chin and glanced back up at the man. Strawberry Shortcake? The little..

"Hey. Dr. Fudge Packer." He responded tightly, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I don't need to hear you're sermon on how smoking is bad for me. Been there, heard that and raised my middle finger nice and high. We all die. I guess I am going to have to take the chance that I may have black lungs in the process." Adair made an irritated face as Pryce touched his head. God help him, he'd bite the jerk off. Adair waited a moment before he sighed in annoyance.

"You know, answering my question would be wonderful."

"Ohhhh," Pryce responded, bringing his hand up to his mouth as if he had been surprised (when he really hadn't been). He dropped it, slipping it back into one of the pockets on his lab coat. "Well, maybe I didn't make myself clear enough, Little Mister One Man Parade, but I don't care if you croak over dead onto the floor at my feet within the next five seconds from all of the tar and black smoke that has accumulated in your debilitated lungs because you begin coughing, coughing, coughing and just can't stop, and I will even keep the doctors and nurses all at bay so you can go down in history as the very first Martyr of Cigarettes in Elysium. Die, little man, die all you want! But by golly gosh, you aren't taking the rest of us with you because of that second-hand smoke you're puffing around my building. Do I make myself clear?"

Pryce sent the most sinister older man glare he could at the younger man to ensure that the message got through. The little guy could suck on those death sticks all he wanted, but he wasn't bringing that god awful second-hand smoke into Pryce's medical pavilion. Okay, maybe it wasn't his medical pavilion, but if he pawned it off that way, the munchkin might show some damn fear. Respect could come later. Pryce wasn't picky.

"Which question was that, my diminutive Aussie neighbor?" Pryce asked with raised eyebrows. "You know, I don't have anything for curing height disabilities, but I do have some really big boots if you wanna fool the ladies."

Adair knew that smoking was not a good thing to do in the hospital, I mean that was a given. But, as the doctor kept talking it was like one of those things when after awhile it was like he put the guy on mute. Adair gave a smug expression. "You know. Thankfully, after awhile my mind kind of does this thing where when I don't like people and their mouths keep moving. All I hear is blah blah blah. But I get your point. I won't be blowing these fumes around the territory you have pissed on."

Oh, no he didn't go into his height. Adair was short to the point where shorter men could feel good about themselves and he knew it. But this was making his Aussie blood boil. This was like calling The Aussies British. The Psyhic moved in closer. "You're a doc..You're fuckin' smart. So..You know where I'm gonna tell ya to shove those boots, aye?"

"Damn skippy you won't be," Pryce said calmly with his hands still in his lab coat. He'd pick on someone for sure, but anger wasn't the doctor's style. As long as the boy acknowledged Pryce's territorial reign over the medical pavilion, he was cool with this kid. "My piss trail pretty much circles around this whole building. Just for future reference, it begins thirty-five feet away from every outside wall of the medical pavilion and it smells rank as hell from all the beer I drink, so you really can't miss it."

Pryce gave the man an award-winning grin. "Into the trash shoot while they're still on your feet? I bet I could fit you down there, munchkin." Pryce held himself in a stance as if he was ready to charge the little man and grab him. "C'mon! I can take ya! Bring it! Bring it!" At this point, he was really just screwing with the boy. The 'grrr' look immediately left his face, and he stood up at full height again and calmly put his hands back into his pocket. "By the by, I'm only calling you funny nicknames because I seem to not know your real name," Pryce added conversationally. "So, what's your name and who're ya lookin' for?"

Wow, did this guy want his ass kicked into munchkin land? He must have. If Adair got those boots, he would kick the man so hard his face would be right before the Wicked Witch of the East's red slippers. Then maybe like a horror movie all of Adair's little 'munckin' friends would eat him.

The doctor interrupted his thoughts, asking for his proper name. "My name is Adair. Adair Fallon." He only gave him a look that he may be interested in the doctors name. But for now, all he had in his mind was Dr. Dipshit. Right now, it was looking hellagood.

"Is that good enough for you to tell me any information that isn't useless?"

"Oh gawd, I hate formalities," Pryce said aloud as he prepared himself for more introductions. He shook his head quickly as he closed his eyes, the jitter coming down into the muscles of his shoulders. Opening them up again a moment later, he gazed across at the young man with a stern look on his face. "Dr. Pryce, Fallon," he greeted the boy as nonchalantly as possible. "Some people call me Ash, but you are new people, not some people, so Dr. Pryce for now." Pryce made an exaggerated wink with a click of his tongue, pointing a finger gun at Adair.

"Soooo," he drawled, raising his eyebrows. "If I recall, you came in here looking for someone, but you don't seem to want to tell me who that someone waaas . . . " Of course, the little guy said the girl's name to Pryce at some point, but it wasn't like Pryce was buddy-buddies with the girl. He wasn't going to magically remember her name, especially when he never talked to her in person himself.

He jabbed his thumb over his shoulder. "Unless you're looking for the out-cold girl on bed number three to your left," Pryce commented with a neutral tone to his voice, "but she's a little under the weather and kind of unconscious at the moment."

Adair cleared his throat, looking down and rubbing his neck before he looked up, a serious and worried expression covered across his face. The psychic put both hands out in a pleading fashion. "Look. I'm serious. Just-Just for once be serious." He ran a hand through his bed-headed hair. As soon as Adair found out the Lycans were being taken care of through word of mouth, he rushed out of bed.

"Is-Is it bad? Did you see what she looked like? She has someone there with her right?" Adair crossed an arm across his chest, his free hand raising towards his lip so he could bite at his thumb nail.

Even though Adair wished he got off his lazy ass and went to the gates. What good would have that done? So, he had to push aside the fact that he should have done something. But could he have? Maybe Adair should have told Adrienne about his vision. But then again, he had no idea it was going to be so soon.

Pryce had a soft spot somewhere behind that flippant, rugged exterior, but it wasn't like he wanted to parade it around in front of everyone. When Fallon asked him to be serious, Pryce slowly crossed his arms over his chest and gave the boy one long look. He could be serious. It took some teeth grating and mental beating of a non-existent punching bag, but he finally managed to loosen up and speak. "It's pretty bad," Pryce said, his voice noticeably different from before. He was all serious and no joke this time. "They called for a healer earlier, but finding one is tough. None work here, though I think they should be required to. We bandaged her up, but she's got a couple of deep wounds. Internal ones, too."

"Brunette," Pryce continued, describing the girl. "Little thing. Barely five feet. Her boyfriend's the one who found her and brought her in with some orcs. Her father and brother arrived not long after word was sent to them. Got the boyfriend's family here, too. Girls got a lot of people hoping she wakes up," Pryce finished, though part of him wondered where Fallon fit in. "Friend?" he asked, lifting a single eyebrow.

Adair nodded calmly, now feeling bad with how he had acted before. It was rude and it escalated because he was being a jackass. He finally admitted a thankful smile and nodded. "Yeah. I am a friend." He had finally said. "I am sorry by the way." He said gently. Adair kind of had these sad blue puppy eyes when he was sad and genuine about it.

"If it is better to see her at another time. Let me know and I can return. I-I just wanted to at least know that she was here and at least being taken care of." It hurt like hell that she was hurt in the first place, but it now it was just looking forward to her getting better.

Pryce nodded staunchly in understanding, pursing his lips without speaking. It was one of those silent things that one man passed to another without needing to explain. He hadn't been all that bothered by Fallon. Pryce tended to greet all people that way, except for earlier when she first came in, it was all about getting to work and fixing her up. Later, when her family came in looking as distraught as they did, Pryce didn't dare make a joke out of it. "No prob," he said simply, hoping the younger man got his meaning.

"You can go see her if you want," Pryce told him, "but you won't get much of a response." It was frank and honest, not meant to be cruel. "She's got her family over there with her, too, and others. If you don't mind crowds, go ahead." The young woman was being take care of as best as possible with their best people keeping an eye on her. Pryce believed personally that she would be alright. "If it's any consolation," he said, "I think she'll heal up quickly and be back on her feet very soon. Professional opinion as a doctor, of course."

Adair was tempted to go inside and see if Adrienne was okay. But sometimes he did more harm than good. He let out a sigh, running his hand through his hair, ruffling it about. He decided to admit it out loud. "I am probably going to be more harm than good. I talk a lot." He said with a huff. "As you can tell. But, It's good to know she is okay. And she has family there I am sure." In his vision it was unclear if Adrienne got help. But since she did and it looked on the brighter side he felt safe leaving her to her closer family and friends.

The Psychic gave the man a light smile as he started to back away from him. "If she speaks to you. Let her know that I said Hi." The Aussie's smile grew wider. "And you still can be a jerk. But you are kinda cool underneath I guess." He gave somewhat a wave before he headed to leave Pryce to other things and felt relieved that Adrienne would be in good hands and recovering.

Constance & Lucinda [Narrative]
[info]constantguard
2008-04-07 07:06 pm UTC (link)
Constance watched her grandson by Adrienne's bed all day. First, he sat there silently in a chair beside her cot. Occasionally, he curled his fingers over her hand with care not to move her or to accidentally touch her many wounds. Every once in a while, Zach rose to pace around the medical pavilion. She gazed at him with dark, knowing eyes. Constance didn't have to ask questions to know what he was going through as she blinked away the flashes of a cold, white hospital in her mind, her dying husband gazing up at her from his final resting place.

Without Adam with her or any of her other children, Constance found it harder to deal with her own emotions. Lucinda approached her once, and Constance allowed her youngest daughter to wrap her arms around her in a small hug, pulling away to smile at her. "Momma," Lucinda said softly, looking into Constance's eyes. "Are you okay?" Lucinda's hands held Constance's shoulders in a gentle hold, and Constance nodded her head.

"Yes, hon," Constance answered with a curt nod, glancing up to meet her daughter's eyes. "I'm alright." Her eyes flitted towards Zach as he paced around Adrienne's bed again. "I think it's your son you need to worry about, Luce," Constance told her child. Lucinda may have been in her forties, but that didn't stop Constance from seeing her as her little girl still.

"I've already talked to him," Lucinda said in a soft voice, gazing off at her son. "He isn't speaking very much . . . " Lucinda's hand tightened slightly on her mother's shoulder. "Maybe you could . . . ?"

"Talk to him?" Constance finished suddenly, raising an eyebrow. She heaved out a sigh. Zach really didn't look like he wanted company.

"You know how his father is," Lucinda said. "He's not very good with these sorts of things, and I . . . I think he still may be somewhat angry at me. About, well . . . everything."

Constance nodded. "Well, add on everything he's been through to breaking away from his parents for once, and you'll see why he doesn't want to be too dependent on either of you."

"I know," Lucinda said, turning to look at her boy. "He's trying to grow up."

"So, why would he talk to me?"

Lucinda gave Constance a look, a look that said you of all people know why. Some part of Constance did know, after all. Zach walked out of the main room into the hallway as Lucinda pleaded with her eyes. Constance cleared her throat. Touching her mother on the hand, Lucinda smiled at Constance and walked back over to her little girl, Alicia, still sitting in a chair by Adrienne's bed as well. The older woman watched the scene for a moment before seeking out her grandson in the hallway beyond the room, finally talking herself into going after him. The boy needed someone to talk to, and according to Lucinda, grandma made more sense right now.

Constance & Zach [Narrative]

"Zach," Constance called, and the boy stopped pacing. He just stood there, sort of staring at the wall. "C'mere, Shgguya," Constance said in a more motherly tone, and Zach dropped his forehead, one of his hands coming up to his face. "Shgguya," Constance called softly, moving towards one of the benches and taking a seat on it. "Come sit by your old bird."

It took a while before the boy managed to make his way towards his grandma. Constance expected that, but she patiently patted the bench beside her with her hand until he walked over to where she sat. Removing her hand, she gave him space to sit. After a moment of hesitation, Zach took it. "She's going to be alright. You know that, Zach."

"How do I know that?" Zach questioned, raising his head with a wrinkled brow and a pained look on his face. Well, Constance hadn't expected that reaction, and it piqued her curiosity.

"What do you mean?" she asked suddenly, turning to look at Zach with stern eyes. "She's a werewolf. Advanced healing. She's gonna patch right up, not a scar left when—"

"Not if whoever did this comes after her again," Zach said quietly, fuming underneath the surface, and . . . oh, now that was interesting. Constance had been thinking this was all the aftermath of werewolf roughhousing. She considered Zach's reaction and sympathized with him as much as his parents and his sister had, but she hadn't for a damn second thought someone did this on purpose to Adrienne.

Constance put an arm around Zach's shoulders, and he didn't shrug it off. "Someone did this on purpose?" she asked. It made sense to ask. Zach was the one that found Adrienne. Maybe he saw something and hadn't spoken about it until now. Adrienne remained unconscious in bed, so maybe they both knew something and . . .

"Zach," she said in her sternest voice possible, "if someone did this on purpose, you need to tell me right now."

"I didn't see who," Zach said, staring at the floor. His eyes made contact with Constance's, and she recognized the pain in them, recognized the sorrow and the hurt. "But someone did this purpose. Someone attacked her. It was a wolf." He looked down again, touching his face. "She fought back. She always fights back . . . "

Constance patted his back before she held open her arms for him. "Shgguya," she murmured. "Come, come," she whispered, and Zach wouldn't hug her but he laid his chin against her shoulder. Constance wrapped her arms around her grandson, patting his back. "We will find out who did this, okay? We will," Constance said to him.

Zach didn't say anything back, but he remained bundled in her arms.

Simon ached like shit. Goddammit. Worse for him than all the other pissants. Big gash across his face, a claw mark right down the temple to his chin. Diagonal crossing of blood and no bandages. Couldn’t bandage that without smothering his face. They tried putting them damn things on him. Simon growled and shoved them away. “Don’t need no bandages on my goddamn face,” he snarled. Let the wounds air out and fucking heal. Healed better without cotton plastered over them.

His chest was worse. Slice of claw after slice of claw made fine and deep gashes over his shoulders and chest. Fucking lucky she didn’t get his goddamn stomach. Shit shit shit. Beast coulda gutted him right open out there. Claws like those ones she had on her paws. Bandages cover his shirtless chest. Covered his shoulders like fucking football pads. He stung all over. Cut up better than a Thanksgiving turkey. Fuck, what was he thinking last night? Wanted some damn fun. Who coulda blamed him? Great chase. Fuckin’ exciting showdown. Got her to bend to his will in the end. Brought the beast down. Showed her who was boss. That’s for damn sure.

Another doctor came up, but this one didn’t have no more bandages. Simon cut him some slack. “What you want?”

Zane arched a brow at the Were who had a serious chip on his shoulder. Any other time, Zane probably would have made some smart ass remark back, but he realized that the Weres were tired and cranky, and wanted nothing more than just to sleep. But he still had a job to do and he intended to do it. First thing was first, and that was to get the story behind the kid's injuries. He looked like he just went through a war zone and barely made it out alive. Cuts and scrapes and bruises all over. Who or what the hell did he run into last night?

Zane pulled up a stool and sat upon it with his chart in hand. "So, Simon is it? I'm Doctor Smith." He flipped open the front sheet and clicked on his pen, preparing to write. "We're gonna let you outta here soon," Zane said with a grin. "Just as soon as you tell me how in hell you got as banged up as you did."

"Well hello there, Dr. Smith." Simon talked slow with this cut so close to his damn lip. Doc was calm. Easy to relax and kick back. Bed wasn't that comfy but Simon could make do. A bed was a fucking bed. Good enough for him. Cuts burned like holy hell outta nowhere. Simon hissed. Hoped the damn things healed in two or three days. Went on their way to disappearing. No scars when they did. Good deal for workout he got last night.

Simon woulda grinned but it woulda hurt. Smirked instead. Barely smirked anyway. His eyes told the story. Mouth couldn't manage the whole thing. Not the full truth. "I'll tell you," Simon said with that drawl of his. "Hunted me a mighty fine mountain lion of sorts last night during the full. Girl put up a good fight. Spotted all over. Pretty creature. I took her down. Took time but I got her. Made a fine meal." Simon patted his stomach. "Mmm mmm good."

Zane arched a brow as Simon relayed his story. A spotted mountain lion? Sounded more like a leopard of some kind, but Zane wasn't about to correct the young man. If he said it was a mountain lion, then it was a mountain lion. Probably didn't matter really since both the mountain lion and the leopard were big ass cats. He wouldn't have been surprised if the wild cat could have cut him up this badly. Maybe werewolves weren't all that fast or powerful up against a creature that was feral all the time.

"Mmm mmm good, huh?" Zane asked as a chuckle came from his throat. "Sounds tasty. Save me a piece next time, I'll throw it on the grill and cook it up real good." He leaned in slightly as if he were telling a secret. "Can't eat raw meat, gives me gas." He laughed out loud as he scribbled down notes on Simon's attack. He looked over the paperwork once more and then grinned.

"Looks like we're all set here, Simon." He held out his hand to shake Simon's hand. "You're free to go unless you have any questions or concerns. Or you're free to stay here to sleep for the rest of the day, it's up to you."

Spotted mountain lion. Spotted leopard. They was all the same. Big goddamn cats. Simon cared less which was which. Wasn't very knowledgeable about the differences. But it was all the same to him. Didn't matter. Made for a good story though. He smirked at Zane. Kinda showed this time. "Tasty like a slab of steak jacked up with Monterrey cheese and barbecue sauce if you're in werewolf form. But you ain't much of a werewolf are you?" jested Simon. Shiny doctor looking spruced up after the full. Nah, he wasn't no werewolf. Simon laughed at the man's joke. Bad move. Slice along his face burned like Almighty fire.

Fuckin hell, Simon thought. Touched the damn thing and grimaced at the sting. Simon looked at Zane. "Wish this godforsaken mark was gonna go away today," he complained. Pulled his hand away and looked at it. Tiny bit of blood came away. "Thing won't stop hurting." Fuck fuck fuck. Gonna hafta walk around town looking like the goddamn cat came home and tore his ass up.

Saw the offered hand and shook it with his clean one. "Don't wanna shake the other one. Got blood on it." He shook his head. "Nope. Ain't got no questions. Gonna go home too to my nice comfy bed. This one I'm in feels like shit," he said candidly. Simon got up. Snatched a kleenex off the table and wiped his hand on it.

"Good day to you sir," said Simon and he was out the damn door.

Emily & Pryce or Zane
[info]healingenergy
2008-04-07 09:15 pm UTC (link)
Emily happened to be on the way to the bakery when someone stopped her in the street and told her to go directly to the medical pavillion to see the weres for healing. The request surprised her, but then again, not many people knew about her ability to heal until she moved to Elysium. She did as she was asked and headed for the large building, reaching into her pocket to take out a band to tie her hair back. Now Emily slipped into professional mode, walking inside the building in a random direction for the patients. They were not difficult to find, thankfully, and she glanced around the room to assess who was hurt the worst.

She only treated small wounds, cuts and scrapes, that Echo had when she was younger and ages had passed since she healed. Was her ability like a muscle that could grow weaker when it was not used? She hoped not because then her presence here was pointless. She decided to wait until one of the doctors spotted her and directed towards someone - though by the way a couple of people hovered over one girl, she seemed like Emily's best candidate. With a deep breath to relieve her nerves, Emily walked over quietly to Adrienne's side. Heavily bandaged meant bad wounds. The poor dear. She brushed a strand of hair from the girl's face, worried.

"Ms. Planck?" Zane said as he walked up to her. "I'm Doctor Smith, thank you for coming on short notice." Zane looked down at Adrienne and sighed. She had been unconscious for a couple of hours now and showed no signs of waking up just yet. She wasn't so far gone as a coma, but the amount of blood she had lost was cause for alarm. The girl's body was also fatigued from an entire night of running around and hunting, not to mention her transformation back to human, that it left very little energy to be spared for the vital healing process.

And though Adrienne was a werewolf with advanced healing, it meant very little if her body didn't have the resources with which to undergo such healing. "Adrienne is suffering from deep bite marks in her left trapezius, as well as some severe cuts across her chest and quadruceps. She may also have some internal bleeding but we can't be sure. Without the proper medical equipment..." He trailed off, ashamed that without modern technology he could not properly diagnose the girl's condition. "She has several bruises along her back which indicate she may have been thrown against something. She's also lost a lot of blood." Zane lifted his eyes to Emily's.

"Do you think you can help the deeper wounds? The ones we can't reach?"

Someone said her name and she looked to see who it was. Oh, a doctor. Maybe he was Amada's fiance, Emily thought idly. There was no time for that. "It's no problem at all. It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Smith," she said. She inspected the girl lying in front of her as the doctor spoke. Bite marks were easily healed as were the cuts on Adrienne's chest, she hoped, but internal bleeding.. Emily never tried to heal something like that and she bit her lip before she could help it. What if something went wrong and she was unable to heal the girl? Was she going to die if she didn't? No, she seemed to be stable.

Emily met Zane's eyes and tried to look more confident than she felt. "I'll heal to the best of my ability," she told him. "There is one thing, though. I need direct contact with the wound. It helps me heal better and focus more. I know it's dangerous, but I'll try to be quick." She hoped that the doctor understood although she could work with the bandages on if need be.

With that settled, she held her hands close to the bite marks and concentrated so that the white healing energy shone from her hands and onto Adrienne's neck. It took a minute or so to fully close up the abrasion, but Emily managed it. So far, she was only a little drained of her stamina, which had to be a good sign. After that she focused on the cuts on the girl's chest and hoped that she'd find the internal bleeding along the way. Moving from each deep wound to the other was more exhausting than she realised. She definitely was going to need a glass of water after this.

Zane watched as Emily worked her magic and began to heal Adrienne's wounds. The woman accomplished in minutes what would have normally taken a couple of days (or a few hours for the werewolf). It was truly amazing and Zane couldn't help but stare in awe as she worked. The deep cuts and scrapes on the young female's body were closing up nicely, and with the lycan's added healing ability there would be no trace of a scar. She'd leave the hospital as good as new and the memory of whatever happened to her out there would hopefully fade from her mind.

Zane knew that his own power drained him when he used it too much, and he figured it would be the same for Emily. He left the healer to do her work and went to retrieve her a glass of water. He returned only moments later and laid a hand on her shoulder. "Why don't you rest," he said as he noticed that many of Adrienne's wounds were already healed. He held out the glass of water to her. "Here, drink this and sit down." Zane led her to a chair that sat near Adrienne's bed. There was silence for a few seconds before Zane spoke up again. "You have an amazing power. How long have you been able to heal like that?"

Healing such deep wounds for an extended period of time drained Emily more than she estimated and by the time Zane told her to rest, she was so weak that she could barely stand. She was fortunate that she managed to finish and gratefully took the glass of water from the doctor. He had to be Zane, so she knew she was under good care. "Thank you," Emily breathed, sipping the water before moving towards the chair. Much better! His question flattered her - healing was a miracle, a blessing from the Lord, really.

"I've been able to heal ever since I was a girl," she answered. "I never tried healing like that before. Usually I only treat cuts and scrapes on myself.. and on my daughter when she was younger. She can heal herself too." Emily fanned her face to prevent herself from feeling any sicker, though being put on the spot to talk about herself made her also somewhat uncomfortable. "Do you have an ability that is connected with being a doctor or completely different? Amada didn't tell me about that. I met her the other day and she's very lovely. I assumed you must be her fiancee because I've met Giles and the other man looks too cocky... considering the very good things I've heard."

Zane didn't want Emily to pass out under his watch, it just wouldn't do any good to have the healer in one of the beds next to the injured. He was glad that she took the glass of water and the suggestion to rest. Adrienne would be fine with the healing that Emily performed on her; now, Zane wanted to make sure that Emily wasn't too weak with the energy she just expended.

"Ever since you were younger, huh? That's amazing! My power has nothing to do with medicine. I'm a psychokinetic," he said with a grin. "I can move things with my mind." He was about to say something more when Emily mentioned Amada, and it was then that it clicked. "You're the Emily that Amada mentioned! You guys were talking about the mural for the building, right?"

Once she was seated and emptied the glass, Emily felt much more comfortable to carry a conversation. Hearing that Amada had mentioned her to Zane flattered her... but first things first. She never imagined that psychokinesis was an actual power, just something that happened in comic books. (Her best friend Beth was a fan when she was younger. Apparently she liked muscled men.) "That's amazing!" she said. "Much more interesting to show other people and just as useful."

She smiled. "Yes, we were talking about it. I think it would be wonderful to paint and Echo wants to be a part of it too, which I take as a good sign. So if you could pass along the idea to your fellow doctors, that'd be lovely." The question was, where would they get some paint? "I don't know where we could find enough paint because I only have a litle remaining from just around." Now that the topic was on something light-hearted, she relaxed more.

Zane blushed as Emily complimented his powers but he waved it off. "It's only good for parties," he said light-heartedly. "What you can do is amazing. I had to be a doctor to heal people, but you can do that all on your own." Zane smiled at her and then patted her shoulder as he glanced over at Adrienne.

"I think she'll be fine," he said with a smile. "At least now we won't have to worry about internal bleeding." Zane wrote down some notes on his chart as Emily talked about the art project. He nodded at her (because he really was listening) and then put down his pen when she finished speaking. "You know, I think that if you talk to the Head Council they'll be able to find some paint for you. Or the elves will makes some." He leaned in as if telling her a secret. "I think these elves can make anything."

Just as he said that an Elven assistant came in to talk to him. She spoke in a low voice and Zane nodded at her. "If you'll excuse me Emily, I have to look in on another patient. It was a pleasure meeting you." He shook her hand and then walked over toward the door before pausing to look back at the woman. "Oh, and you and your daughter will have to come over for dinner sometime so we can talk about the painting." He held up a hand to wave goodbye and then vanished from sight.

Pietro, Jason, and Zach (in the evening)

Pietro Conté had been by his daughter's bed since sunrise. Someone had come by the cottage to tell him and Jason of the injury, and the father and son pair rushed over as fast as they could. Adrienne was still bleeding when he saw her and a part of him wanted to scream for answers. But what answer was there beyond the fact that she was a werewolf? He knew that the full moon had its dangers, but he had never seen his daughter come back with such severe injuries.

He sighed and listened to Jason voice as he read an excerpt from Adrienne's favorite book.

"The boy continued to listen to his heart as they crossed the desert. He came to understand its dodges and tricks, and to accept it as it was. He lost his fear, and forgot about his need to go back to the oasis, because, one afternoon, his heart told him that it was happy." Jason paused and took a deep breath, and Pietro could see that his son was worried even though he did not voice it.

"'Even though I complain sometimes,' it said, 'it's because I'm the heart of a person and people's hearts are that way. People are afraid to pursue their most important dreams, because they feel that they don't deserve them, or that they'll be unable to achieve them. We, their hearts, become fearful just thinking of loved ones who go away forever, or of the moments that could have been good but weren't, or of treasures that might have been found but were forever hidden in the sands. Because, when these things happen, we suffer terribly.'"

Jason stopped this time and rose to his feet. "I need to take a break," he said to the two other men in the room. He put his hand over his sister's and patted it softly. "I'll see you later, Pup." He said softly and then left the room. Pietro glanced over at Zach and watched the scene with sad eyes. He couldn't help but be reminded of when Elisabeth passed, how he sat next to their bed at home as she suffered at the hands of the virus. Don't give up, Adria! His mind pleaded with her as he moved to place a hand on Zach's shoulder. The boy hadn't left his daughter's side since sunrise and Pietro was beginning to worry about his health as well.

"Why don't you go home and rest, Zach," he suggested softly. "You've been here all day and I haven't seen you eat a damn thing." He laughed. "What do you think Adrienne would say about that?"

Zach listened with faraway ears as Jason announced he needed to take a break. It was one of those understood things that you didn't ask questions about, because Zach knew why he needed to take a break. He rubbed a hand over his face as Jason spoke to Adrienne, looking up in time to see her older brother leave. Mr. Conté laid a hand on Zach's shoulder, and the younger boy felt it and closed his eyes briefly, lowering his head for a moment.

He still wore the same bloodstained clothes from earlier, the ones covered in Adrienne's blood. There wasn't any time to shower, or any reason to shower. There wasn't a reason to change his clothes or a reason to get anything to eat of sustenance. His mother brought him some food, and Alicia slipped him a snack at one point, but Zach barely touched either. He just drank water most of the time and kept his eyes on Adrienne, only getting up to use the bathroom. Zach knew that people were beginning to worry, but he was here for a reason. The same reason Pietro and Jason were here. The same reason his own parents and sister were here. They all cared about Adrienne, and they wanted to make sure she would be alright.

Lifting his head towards Mr. Conté, Zach's lips curled inwards but there was something about a semi-smile to them. "I went out for a bit earlier, Mr. Conté," he said quietly. "I've eaten some, too. I'll be alright." His eyes turned to Adrienne asleep in the bed. "It's not really me I'm worried about," Zach added in a softer voice, wringing his hands together in his lap. It had taken so long just to still the shake in his nerves at the whole situation. Fear paralyzed him at first with what had been thrown their way. Adrienne sustained injuries in the past, but never anything of this magnitude. He wasn't sure how he was supposed to deal with it. Maybe he was doing it all wrong.

"I wanna be here when she wakes up," Zach told her father, crossing his arms and laying them on the side of her bed, resting his chin atop his forearms. He wanted to see her wake up, know she was safe himself. Most of all, Zach had an urge to look after her and make sure she was safe all throughout the night. Capable people worked at the medical pavilion, but they had to go to bed and sleep, too, eventually. Zach would sleep here tonight, even if he developed a crick in his neck. It would be worth it to see her wake up.

Pietro couldn't help but smile at Zach's response. He understood what the young man was going through having been through it himself when Elisabeth passed. He looked down at Zach and nodded, though the boy did not see it. Pietro would let Zach watch over his daughter tonight if that's what he wanted.

"So you're going to stay the night then," Jason said upon his return. He was leaning against the door jamb of the room and watching Zach and his father. Jason knew that Zach cared for Adrienne, he just didn't realize how much until this incident. He entered the room with strong steps and placed a hand upon his father's shoulder.

"C'mon dad, we should go home and sleep for a few hours. Zach'll watch Adrienne tonight. We can come back in the morning."

Pietro nodded and squeezed Zach's shoulder once more before he stepped out of the room. Jason lingered behind for a moment and tapped Zach on the head with the book he was holding. Zach was like a little brother to him and Jason felt comfortable interacting with him the way he did. "Take care of her," he said before he turned on his heel to leave. "We'll be back in the morning."

He held up a hand to wave goodbye as he walked away. He felt confident that Zach would watch over Adrienne throughout the night and that thought alone would allow him a few hours of much needed rest.

Jason's voice sounded from the doorway, and Zach turned his head halfway to look and see Adrienne's brother leaning against the frame of the open doorway. Anyone else might have heard him speaking and caught something they perceived as negative in his tone, but Zach heard no such thing and turned his head to look back at Adrienne's sleeping form upon the bed, motionless as she was to them. "Yeah," Zach said in a faraway kind of voice. He just wanted her to wake up . . . and he just wanted to be there when she did, to know it was real, to know it actually happened and that she would be okay.

He listened as Jason talked to their father, felt the squeeze on his shoulder from Mr. Conté. He let out a sigh he hadn't known he was holding as Adrienne's father left the room with Jason. At least, Zach thought they had both left. Then, something tapped Zach on the head. Looking upwards to the side, Zach saw Jason standing there. Take care of her, he said, and Zach watched him turn around to leave. After a moment of staring at the doorway they had exited from, he focused his attention back on Adrienne. His hands slid over the bedsheet on a flat part of the mattress as he wondered idly what to do with his extra time spent waiting.

Zach straightened out her sheet over her to make sure she was covered up properly. Adrienne didn't have on any clothes underneath the sheet and lightweight blanket, and he didn't want her to get cold. He got up from his chair to search for another blanket in the room, finding one in a cabinet and laying it out over her bed. Standing beside her, he brushed his hand over her forehead, his thumb lingering on her temple.

He sat down in his chair again, and waited.
