Who: Open to Some (Characters must be strong to accompany this group.)
When: All Day
Where: Outside of Elysium, beyond the mountain range in unsafe lands.
What: The rest of the search party checks outside of Elysium for Dante.
OOC: Post multiple threads, leave them open for others to join, or set your character up with someone in particular! Just have fun and use your imagination! Clues, discoveries, and more are up to you!

While half of the search party split into smaller groups and checked the inside of Elysium’s borders, there was another group that needed to scale the dangerous lands outside of the safe haven. It was probable that Dante Donovan had taken the route out of Elysium and sought to get as far away from the haven as possible. In truth, it was the only way the werewolf would escape the law, so it seemed a viable option to pursue. Only strong praeternaturals and humans with useful physical or magical abilities were allowed to accompany this group because of the dangers of traveling beyond the haven in a diseased and radiated wasteland.

Though the view from within Elysium must have been a beautiful sight to behold, there appeared a dull fiery hue to the sky and the land beyond the borders. Many of the plants were withered, and the ground seemed muddy and ran unbridled in all directions. Past the mountains, there existed few places to hide in the open terrain. Perhaps the only true place for shelter was a large forest in the distance, but searching the forest would take days upon days of travel and lost time. It was unlikely they would ever find the werewolf and his captives if Dante fled to the forest.

Still, a false trail might have been set up to trick them and let them believe Dante had taken this direction. Any clue was a clue to being one step closer to the madman, and the party would search until they were successful.

Most might not have thought it wise for Dylan to accompany the search party beyond Elysium’s borders, though it would not have been a matter concerning his strengths. Dylan was highly capable of protecting himself and those within the group, but he was an important figure and putting himself directly in the line of danger was not an optimal move. Still, Dylan worried about appearing too much as a political figure and nothing more than a face to words when he wanted to show his willingness to be effective with direct action. Dylan was not a man to sit on the sidelines, and he was not going to start now.

He was not leading the party, but he walked beside the vanguard of the group. He listened carefully to everything around him, the slightest rustle of dead twigs or a whistle on the wind. His ears caught everything, but he saw nothing despite his vigilance. His walking stick moved with each step of his feet, and Dylan removed a water bottle from his pack. He took a sip of the lukewarm liquid, dark eyes scanning his surroundings like a hawk’s eyes.

“We are walking blind,” Dylan said to himself, frustrated that they had no clues to go by or any particular direction to follow. Dante covered his path fairly well, whichever way he fled with his captives. He was so lost in his own thoughts he did not notice the new figure joining him at his side, nor thought anyone was paying attention to what he said.

(ooc: I'm pretty sure Kia is strong enough for this. If not, feel free to ignore)

Kia had heard of all this mess, but he'd been happy to leave it well alone. It wasn't his business. Hadn't been his business until he'd found out more. He'd volunteered, grumbled something about being forced out of his house and followed the group.

He'd kept to himself, looking for clues some might be missing. If he'd heard right, this was one of his (OOC: if it's not know about the werewolf thing, let me know). And thus he took responsibility. That and he was curious. Which laws where broken? Those laws that kept nifty collars around his kinds' necks?

He'd be the first to disagree with those. But he played along. The smells of the rancid wastelands bothered him. It'd be near impossible to get a scent, much less anything else. He narrowed his eyes against the glare of the sun as he continued to walk, hearing the words of what he'd learned was one of the leaders.

He glanced to the man "thank you Captain Obvious" the comment was low, but not low enough. He continued to walk, trying to get a vantage point. To walk in this man's shoes. See where Kia would go in a similar situation.

(ooc: Sure! And yeah, he could have heard that the kidnapper and kidnapped women were werewolves, too.)

Dylan’s hearing was sharp, and he most definitely heard the remark made close to his side. He glanced over, narrowing his eyes at the one in the party who had said it, and turned away to look ahead again. Normally, Dylan was rather well at getting along with people and being the usual mediator, but he rarely came in contact with those who weren’t similar in nature. He had yet to truly test his wings in a different direction.

His eyes watched the man who had spoken beneath his breath. Dylan was curious to see what he would do next, and he could not help but wonder if this man had a plan in his head, or any sort of idea at all, that would make this journey more productive. Finally, Dylan spoke his thoughts out loud. “Do you have a plan?” he asked the man from behind. There might have been a trace of annoyance in his voice, though it was very subtle. “We have been walking for hours, but there are no traces of Dante Donovan, nor the women he brought with him. They might not even be out here.”

It would not have been a smart move for Dante to stay inside of Elysium with a small army tracking him down, but Dylan was not about to put anything past a mentally unstable werewolf who had made similar poor decisions in the past.

Kia was happy to ignore the scrutiny. He gave enough respect to those in charge to keep himself out of trouble, but other then that he would speak his mind. They'd yet to abolish free speech.

While he was being observed, Kia ran his fingers along the barks of the withering trees. No marks. No obvious footprints in the sand. The smell of pollution and radiation was making him ill, so he refused to go by scent. If he retched up his lunch, he'd regret it.

He glanced back, moving onto a rock so he had more of a view and looked to the sky. How long before a moon? With at least two werewolves, that'd be a sign he could follow. And they'd need to eat. Feeding a pack, when resources where scarce, was always an effort.

Kia wanted a smoke and glanced to Dylan "if he knows what he's doing, traces will be scarce. At best. He might be staying down wind. Find shelter that's either above or under ground and away from prying eyes" he glanced back to the horizon and the sky.

"Best plan? Wait for the moon. The desire to hunt will bring them out. That, or follow the prey. He'll be in a place where he can feed everyone, or at least himself. Considering the picking is slim, it's a way to ferret him out. He'll get hungry. Fresh meat is very hard to deny" he motioned to a around him then "wherever he can hunt, his lair will be close to. Release a bit of prey, enough to be noticed, and follow the blood"

Kia shrugged then and hopped of the rock "and he's out here. I would be. More places to hide, and with all the pollution and radiation in the air, getting his scent will be impossible. Back there" he motioned to where Elysium was "you find his scent and he'd be screwed. Out here, he has the land to his benefit"

Dylan felt his gaze traveling towards the mountains when Kia spoke, but the mountains were the border of Elysium and that meant behind them in the direction they came from originally. It made sense for Dante to hide above or under ground. “The mountains are the only place nearby he can do that,” Dylan offered. “The land is rugged, but there are no places to hide aside from the forests and mountains, and the forests don’t offer as much shelter.”

The full moon worried Dylan the most about Dante’s party. Adrienne and Dante were both werewolves, and they knew Dione had been bitten by Dante, so it was possible she was a werewolf, too. That was three werewolves unchecked in the wild, and if they didn’t catch them before the full moon, they could have a lot of trouble on their hands — especially if they turned out to be still inside of the haven.

“The desire to hunt will bring them out, but it’s too dangerous. If we can, we need to find them before the full moon.” Dylan did not want to risk the dangers of waiting, but the idea of luring Dante out with prey seemed like a good idea to him. He glanced over at Kia. “Maybe we should catch something and take it with us. Then, we can find a place close to where he may be, let it loose nearby, and follow it.”

Despite Dylan’s keen senses, he wasn’t very familiar with scents in the way werewolves were familiar with them. There was an aspect of hunting to it all, and Dylan had never been a hunter. “He has the benefit of land, but a lack of prey,” Dylan said with a frown. “Most of the living creatures are in Elysium, not out here. It’d be very hard to feed a pack in a wasteland.” Yet still, it seemed the wiser decision to be out here.

Kia glanced back to the man and set his hands in his pockets "exactly my point. Even if he doesn't want to feed them" which was odd in Kia's mind. Pack was pack. An Alpha fed them, even if the Alpha had unwilling pack mates "he needs to feed himself. You need strength. Especially here"

He nodded then, surprised someone actually listened to his ideas. He kicked his feet on the ground "to tough to build a den, forests are to close to the borders. Mountains will be your safe bet. If you catch something, don't release it to close to the mountains. Couple of yards away. You want him to think he's lucky"

"We can take care of ourselves. If they're out here, you get traces back to their den. If they are inside, you'll know very quickly. They'll want for food. And. I'm the only other male, am I right? I'm competition. If he changes, or one of the females is ready to be mated" he shrugged then "if I'm close, or near, I'll probably be very high on his list. I'm not in the pack, ego competition"

Again, he shrugged. He cared little for the lives inside Elysium. They where just prey. He glanced to the mountains then "best to head back, see what we can find there"

To be completely honest with himself, Dylan didn’t know if Dante planned on feeding the women he had kidnapped. He hoped the man wasn’t as depraved as that, but who could tell with a madman. The further they walked into the wasteland, the more Dylan believed they should turn back to the mountains. Something seemed right about the mountains, though Dylan couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was.

Kia’s ideas wanted Dylan to talk to the party at large and change their direction back towards Elysium. He liked the idea of catching a prey and using it to their advantage. It was a plan that could work. Dylan turned his gaze to Kia and wondered if there were any other male werewolves in the search party. As far as could remember, there were no others who came with them. “I believe you are the only male lycanthrope with us today,” Dylan agreed. “Would Dante sense that, even if it isn’t the day of the full moon?” There were some things Dylan honestly didn’t know, and that was one of them.

He waited for a reply to his question to Kia before turning to the party and calling out for them to halt. “I think we should head back to the mountains,” Dylan instructed, loud enough for everyone to hear. “One of our party members has a good idea. It is more possible that Dante is in the mountains than this far out here. We should head back to the mountains and capture prey to release close to the border. If Dante is nearby, there is a high chance he may come out for food. We can have scouts follow the animal, and we’ll stay further behind.”

The suggestion wasn’t met with negativity, so Dylan looked over to Kia one last time. “If you think this is a good idea, we should try it. Let us lead the way back.”

OOC: You can skip ahead and have them be at the mountains in Kia's reply. Let's go hunting! :D

At the question, Kia shrugged. He didn't know, to be honest. Not all werewolves listened to their instincts. Especially not the bitten ones. At the end, it caused more problems then it was really worth. They kept clinging to their humanity, not realizing they where far beyond it the minute they first changed.

"He might, if he listens to his instincts. We won't know until we get there." He let Dylan talk to the rest of the party, already turning around and walking towards the mountains. The less time they wasted, the better.

He nodded to Dylan as he walked, letting the group find a prey animal. If he went with them, he'd hunt to kill. They where better at corralling animals and he was no sheep dog. The trip to the mountains took a while, but eventually they arrived.

When they arrived, he moved into the wind so his scent would be noticed. If this rogue was around, he might smell Kia and then hopefully would show his face. If even to look at the new threat, or ally. It all depended on what this rogue was thinking.

He kept his eyes on the prey, occasionally glancing up the mountains to see where the werewolf might have made his den.

Dylan orchestrated a hunting party to catch their prey, though he left the actual hunting up to those with more experience with it. There was more wildlife even on the outside outskirts of the mountains simply because this land hadn’t been directly hit by anything during the war. It was clean and thriving, alive with plenty of wild beasts. They used their nets to entrap a deer, and the two of the much stronger people of the party carried the trapped animal since there was no carriage or trailer to carry it in.

He went to find Kia once they were successful. It hadn’t taken too long, which Dylan was grateful for. He didn’t say anything at first, not wanting to disturb the werewolf if he was thinking, but eventually spoke and broke the silence. “Have you seen anything?” he asked, knowing Kia was occasionally keeping eyes on their surroundings.

“We are ready to go,” Dylan added a moment later. “The only thing we need is a direction to follow. If you have ideas, I am listening.” Dylan himself didn’t have much to go on, and he hoped someone else in the party had discovered a clue somewhere. Maybe Kia had spotted something—or caught a scent in the air.

Irei couldn't help but grimace about the current situation he found himself in. The would had seemed intolerably flat, devoid of life, and it seemed to stretch out into eternity until they had moved to a more natural looking terrain. For a man who had basically lived primarily on islands most of his life, this was becoming entirely too much to handle.

He had joined the search party, mildly surprised that there had been two, with Sascha with the intent of finding the poor delusional blind girl. He had found he was unable to call upon Dexter's spirit once they were outside the barrier. Could it have been the barrier itself messing with his powers? Or perhaps the spirit was so lost within his and his sister's troubles that he no longer heeded the necromancer's call? Either way, there wasn't much that Irei could do about it. Still it bothered him, made him believe that they wouldn't be finding either of the women Dante kidnapped, let alone Dante himself, but he didn't speak his doubts out loud purely out of habit. People rarely listened to him anyways.

He looked at his friend, and knew that Sascha was worried about the young woman who had become Irei's piano teacher. He smiled that fake little smile of his in an attempt to be reassuring. "Do not worry. I am sure we will find her soon."

The party had moved toward an area that made a more likely hiding place for three people, despite if two were unwilling or not. he was unsure of the exact reasons for Dante kidnapping both women, and just assumed they would both be unwilling seeing as it was called a double kidnapping. He halfway wondered if Dione really cared about her situation. She seemed to lack the motivation to do much aside from breathe, but sometimes his opinions of people were overly harsh.
