Who: Mitsuko and Logan (Narrative)
When: Night
Where: Kamiyama-Nagamori-Jung cottage
What: Mama-Mitsuko is NOT happy
Mitsuko had left Midori's at dawn and spent the rest of the day continuing her search for Adrienne. Her leg hurt from where it had been mauled by the todd. She hadn't given it proper time to heal before running on it once again.
She hadn't found Adrienne. As much as she wanted to continue looking for her friend, she knew she couldn't leave Logan and the twins for another night. She'd already been gone nearly two.
When she arrived home, she was greeted by a very enthusiastic hug from her brother. Logan wasn't normally extremely affectionate, but his worry for his sister outweighed any discomfort he had. Mitsuko gave Logan a pat on the head in response before limping towards the stairs.
"What happened?" Logan asked softly, noticing the injury affecting her movements.
"Just a fox," Mitsuko replied. "It's not bad. Just stings a bit."
"Did you find Adrienne?" Logan worried his lower lip.
Mitsuko shook her head sadly. There was nothing else she could say. She'd failed to find her friend. As much as she wanted to keep looking, she was exhausted, injured and she had a responsibility to new family.
"Zach'll find her," Logan said, a pathetic tone in his voice. He desperately wanted to believe his friend would rescue his girlfriend. "She'll be okay."
Mitsuko gave a soft, sad smile and a nod. She wasn't sure if that was so, but she wanted to believe it herself. She limped back to Logan and gave him a kiss on the forehead. "Are the twins asleep?"
Logan shrugged slightly. "They're in their rooms, but I dunno if they've gone to sleep."
"I'm going to go check on them." Mitsuko ruffled Logan's hair once again. "You should get to sleep too."
Logan nodded and Mitsuko went up the stairs to check in on her other wards. Charlie was perfectly fine, but she found something odd when she went into Chris' room.
The complete absence of a teenaged girl.
Mitsuko looked to the bathroom door and saw it was open. She wasn't in there. She had no need to look around the rest of the house, trying to find the girl. She wasn't going to find her. There was only one answer as to where she could be.
"Hayate," Mitsuko whispered.
"What was that?" Logan asked as he came up the stairs.
Mitsuko closed the door to Chris' room quickly, so Logan wouldn't see the girl was missing. She didn't want to worry him. Besides, she knew he used to have a crush on her. Those feelings seemed to be dissipating, but still, he didn't need to know this yet. "Nothing, Logan. Just go to sleep."
Logan nodded, a bit warily. Something seemed wrong with Mitsuko. "You should get some sleep too." He then went up the second flight of stairs to his own bedroom.
Mitsuko waited for him to disappear up the stairs before opening the door to Chris' room once again. She wasn't going to rush over to Hayate's house and confront them. Hayate had nearly killed her once, besides, as far as anyone knew, she had no idea where the man lived. But she wasn't going to let this go. Oh no. She sat herself down on Chris' bed and crossed her arms over her chest. The first thing Chris saw when she tried to sneak back in was going to be a very unhappy Mitsuko.
