Who: Mitsuko and Irei
When: Morning
Where: Irei and Sascha's bungalow
What: Mitsuko and Irei discuss some things that have been on Mitsuko's mind

Her bare feet still slightly damp, Mitsuko padded out of the shower and into the bedroom that had become almost as familiar as her own over the past two months. Two months... Had it really been that long already? Funny to think that. Mitsuko's relationship with Sascha and Irei-- and, no matter how free and unrestrained they were, it was some form of 'relationship'-- had lasted longer than all of her previous ones, save for Sho.

She had grown comfortable with the arrangement, even occasionally sleeping over and-- as was the case today-- borrowing clothes from Sascha. She was wearing one of his shirts, which looked more like a dress on her small frame, going down to mid-thigh and covering up her hands.

Sascha was already gone when Mitsuko had woken up, but Irei was still there in bed. Sweeping her still wet hair up in a messy ponytail, she gave his ear a quick nibble to alert him to her presence. "Every time I come over, I get distracted." She let out a gentle sigh against his skin. There had been something on her mind since she'd come over a few days ago and caught a very familiar scent. She just hadn't found the time to bring it up. Until now. "My mother was here. I know she and Sascha are on the Vice Council together, but I seriously doubt it was business considering what happened the last time they ran into each other." Mitsuko was still quite angry at her mother for the harsh words towards Sascha.

Trailing her fingers up and down Irei's arm, she gave him a small, wry smile. "So what happened? Anything I should worry about?"

Irei opened one eye and looked at her as he stretched out on the bed. He was feeling rather lazy today, and had been meditating on that fact when she had reentered the room. He snorted slightly at her when he recognized Sascha's shirt hanging off of her tiny body. She looked like she would drown in it even though Sascha wasn't really that big of a man.

"Why do you wear Sascha's plaid shirts around? Are you cold? If not you should just walked around the house naked then." Irei preferred to answer her in Japanese. It wasn't often he got to use his actual language in public anymore, so he liked to speak it casually with Mitsuko.

He thought about what Mitsuko's mother had said when she had visited him, and shrugged his shoulders slightly as he rolled out of bed, swinging his legs off the side. "She said nothing you haven't heard before. She is stubborn as bull. Are you sure that she is a fox?" Irei grinned and thought he might embellish the truth a little bit. "I tossed her out on her tail."

Mitsuko smiled at Irei's question. It was not particularly flirtatious, but the implication was still there. Mitsuko began to undo several of the buttons on the plaid shirt. She stopped short part of the way down. "This is part of the distraction I was talking about," Mitsuko sighed, leaning in and giving Irei a peck on the mouth. "If I get undressed then we're just going to end up having sex again."

Not that sex was a bad thing. It was the number one past time of Mitsuko, Irei and Sascha. But there were things that should be discussed first. Not that Mitsuko would have been adversed to something happening once they were done talking. That was why she left the shirt partially unbuttoned, one of her small breasts exposed.

Mitsuko pursed her lips. "Mm. I'm sure she's a fox. And that you're not must have been very troubling to her." She cocked her head. "So.... Did she threaten you or bribe you? She's been known to do both and I'm not certain which approach she would think was best for you."

Irei pulled up his pants and adjusted himself inside them before carefully zipping and buttoning them. He looked back at her and smiled a little at the exposed nipple. "Mah, no modesty, ne Mitsu-chan?" He actually didn't mind much if she walked in Sascha's shirt or not. He just thought she looked a little funny wearing it.

He grabbed the last cigarette from his pack and sighed as he popped the stick into his mouth. He was running out of the mountain of cigarettes he had collected. He would either go and trade for some more or he might have to ask Sascha to teach him how to roll a cigarette. He wondered if it was that much different from rolling a joint. Probably not too much different if at all.

He crushed the empty cigarette pack and looked back at her. "She walked in on me right after I had taken a shower. I was standing in my towel. Is it a common practice for kitsune to break into someone's house when they are practically naked? But, there was no bribery used. That or she does not really know how to use it to her advantage." He shrugged and then grinned to himself. "I did shut her up for a bit. I'm not sure your mother really understands what has happened to the world. You know, how it has basically ended."

Irei lit the cigarette and sucked in the sweetly bitter nicotine as he spoke around small white stick in his mouth. "Well, I am going to make some breakfast. Want some?"

Mitsuko smiled back at Irei. She was actually very comfortable with her own nudity. She was a fox and foxes didn't normally wear clothing, did they? She leaned in, hooking a finger in the band on Irei's pants. "You're the one who wanted me to walk around naked. Modesty should be reserved for people who have not fucked you senseless."

Pilfering Irei's cigarette briefly, Mitsuko took a deep drag of it before giving it back to him. "Is that right now? I guess that's where I get it from. I have the habit of coming in unannounced as you well know. So it was threatening then? I suppose I'm not surprised. The value of things has changed so much." She did have some pause at the next thing he said. "You... Shut her up. While you were naked." She stopped walking, considering the implications of that. She of course knew her mother was practically asexual. She also hoped that Irei would respect her enough to know sleeping with her mother was a really bad move... Really, the notion was ridiculous, but the way he'd said it... She shook her head to get rid of the thought. "Shutting up the Light of Hokkaido is quite the feat. How did you manage that?" Hopefully, that sounded casual enough.

Mitsuko gave a brief nod. "All right. Breakfast sounds good." She stretched, the bottom of the plaid shirt she wore riding up. "Thanks."

"Now did I say I wanted you naked? It was a suggestion. I never said specifically that I wanted you to take off the shirt. If you take off that shirt and strut around here in your birthday suit, it is all up to you. And it wasn't like you were all that modest when we first met anyways." He looked down at her finger in his pants and started to walk away, pulling her along or out depending on her reaction.

He narrowed his eyes at her as she stole his cigarette. "Mitsu-chan, it's my last one. Go steal some from Sascha or someone else. Dammit." He took the cigarette back and turned away from her so she couldn't take it again. He was getting really annoyed because he knew the reason his stash was dwindling down. Damn moochers.

Irei nearly burst out laughing at the implication she was making. "What? You think I stuck my dick in her mouth? That would have shut her up, but I think she probably would have bit it off. I may like pain, but I am not interested in losing my penis to the likes of her." He laughed in his chest as he took in a drag of nicotine.

"She kept talking about birthrights. I reminded her that in our brave new world there is no such things as birthrights anymore. Light of Hokkaido my ass. Japan is a barren wasteland now, assuming it's still even there. Is that supposed to be your birthright?"

He walked into the kitchen and started to clean the dishes Sascha had used for his breakfast before leaving that morning. "What do you want to eat?" If Irei ate anything at all it would probably be fruit. He still wasn't a big eater, but if he didn't eat anything Sascha would give him that withering stare.

Mitsuko gave Irei a smug smirk. "Everyone wants me naked, Irei-kun, even if they don't say it." Yes, Mitsuko lacked modesty in more than one way of the word. She allowed Irei to pull her along into the kitchen, rebuttoning her shirt while she was at it.

She wrinkled her nose at Irei's rough words about her bumming a drag. "Tch. If you don't want to be stolen from, you shouldn't bang a thief." She gave Irei a light poke in the stomach. "Just be thankful I like you and Sascha so much. I could've robbed you blind by now." She moved around so she could look up at him, an exaggerated pout on her face. "Stop with the scowl. Guys still want my picture when I'm working at the cafe. I'll tell them it'll cost them a pack per snap now. Now am I forgiven?"

She sighed deeply as Irei laughed off her concerns. "Well, I dunno! It certains works when you want to shut me up. Didn't think Midori would go for it, but... Well, you're really hot. And considering she's been going around with the doctor-guy, I thought maybe she's lightened up on metahumans at least when it comes to her interests."

Mitsuko's jaw tightened at the talk of birthrights. It had nothing to do with what Irei was saying, but what Midori had said to him. "It stopped being my birthright long before civilization fell. That--" She tried to come up with the Japanese word foul enough to describe her mother, but fell short, so she fell on the more gutteral English. "Cunt-- can go to hell for all I care. When I was fifteen, she told me she was sorry she didn't drown me in a sack when she had the chance. But she's desperate now. Trying to hold onto the last bit of her old life. But it's not my life. It never was."

With the talk of her mother, Mitsuko found her appetite lacking. "I'm good with whatever," she said with a small shrug.

He raised an eyebrow at her cocky attitude. He wasn't thinking about her being modest anymore, so much as perhaps a little full of herself. Irei shrugged. He was pretty full of himself too. It was one of the reasons he was called a narcissist.

"Oh really? You are the one who comes over to my house to get banged. Not the other way around." He looked down at her finger and then looked back up at her face with a grin. "As if we wouldn't be able to figure out who it was. You certainly haven't kept your profession a secret Mitsu-chan. You've already had trouble because of it, ne?" He easily recalled being brought in for questioning when she had been the main suspect in a crime.

"You must think very little of me to think I would go off and sleep with your mother. She certainly wasn't interested in me for that reason." Irei shook his head and moved away from her. He reached into the ice box and pulled out some fruit. He then opened a drawer and took out a knife before walking over to the table to sit down and start cutting up pieces of fruit.

"Good, because there isn't much meat in this house." Irei took a strawberry from the bowel he had placed on the table and slowly ate it, watching her with his gray blue eyes. He then held out one for her to take.

Mitsuko was a little full of herself. But she had very good reason for it. She had never found it terribly difficult to get things she wanted from men (or women). Her looks and charms had served her well. She felt deserving of her arrogance.

"My house is filled with teenagers who don't particularly like you," Mitsuko pointed out. She arched a brow. "I think we both know it's better if banging occurs here. Besides, it's easier for me to sneak in than both you and Sascha to get into my home." Mitsuko let the finger she'd poked Irei with trail down past line of his pants, just lightly skimming over his crotch. "You have much more interesting things to take than what you have in your house, Irei-kun." She tilted her head up and licked her lips seductively. "I seem to recall you had a bit of trouble yourself."

Mitsuko wrinkled her nose and watched Irei move away towards the kitchen. "I think more of you than I probably should." It was the truth. Her feelings for Irei were... Confused to say the least. She hadn't really thought he would sleep with her mother, but the slim possibility made her heart ache in a way she couldn't really explain. That mixed with her conflicting feelings about her mother... She sat down across from Irei. She didn't know what else to say on the subject. She was at a loss.

Mitsuko took a moment to look at Irei as he held out the offered breakfast. She then leaned in and bit into the ripe berry. She pulled it into her mouth and swallowed, before laving her tongue over Irei's finger, licking up the juice that had dripped down, before wrapping her lips around the digit, mimicking fellatio. She released his finger with a pop and licked her lips. "Mmm... Tastes good." She was referring to his flesh rather than the fruit. It was an automatic reflex with her. As their conversation turned to less pleasant topics, she wanted to distract herself with sex-- or thievery, but as she had said before Irei and Sascha didn't have anything that interested her. It didn't help that she was naturally very sexual around Irei.

Mitsuko stood. "Maybe you're right, Irei-kun. If I'm not cold..." She unbuttoned the plaid shirt and let it fall to her feet, leaving her naked. She looked down at him silently, wordlessly pleading to him to distract her from the dark thoughts clouding her mind.

Irei chuckled. He remembered very clearly his last encounter with Chris on Halloween when she was walking around in costume with her vampire boyfriend. His impression of Chris had been that she was a spoiled teenaged brat. He wondered what she would think of her pretty little boyfriend if she knew what had happened between Irei and him. She probably wouldn't believe it even if she had been standing right next to them as it happened.

"Ah well. I'm used to having people not like me. It's nothing new really. But aren't you getting bored just fucking in my bed all the time?" Sascha's room had always been mostly off limits for pretty much anyone. Irei even rarely went in there without being invited by his friend. One room seemed to work just as well as another though. When it was just him and Sascha, they would often screw around on the chaise lounge in the sitting room.

Irei took a breathe and ignored her statement about thinking about him. She seemed to be forgetting lately that he wasn't looking for an actual relationship. He liked her, but he didn't want it to go any where beyond that. He didn't want to affect more people with his self destructive tendencies.

He brought his finger back and licked whatever juice that could possibly be left on it. There wasn't much strawberry left; all he could taste was her. He crossed his legs and leaned back in his chair, watching her as she removed the shirt that Sascha had been wearing yesterday.

He placed a hand on his face, his fingers lingering on his forehead. He didn't know how to tell her that he didn't really have the energy fuck her senseless in the morning while keeping his pride intact. "Mitsu-chan, have I become your sex therapist? Don't you think that kid brother of yours is probably wondering where you are right about now?"

Irei could feel the emptiness in his stomach, as he looked at the brightly colored fruit in the bowel on the table. It gnawed at him and he shut his eyes as he savored it. Sato-sensei used to say that hunger was the way to power. He could feel his hands shaking from his low blood sugar. There were quite a few people who would assume from the way he looked and his outward appearance that he was weak, but he could feel the rush of power running through him. If he wasn't careful, he could easily get drunk off of it and pass out.

Mitsuko wasn't sure how she felt about the situation with the Jung siblings. She knew Logan was happy to have them around. But she wasn't entirely sure about having Chris around, with her relationship with Hayate. After poisoning the vampire, Mitsuko had tried to get past her feelings about her attack. But now that Chris was living with her-- her legal responsibility-- she felt she had to deal with him again.

"Well, I'm not, but it sounds like you are." Mitsuko couldn't help but feel her ego bruise a bit at the idea her lovemaking wasn't quite entertaining anymore. "But I'm good with wherever. Here's just convenient. Would you like me to jump you in town? Drag you into an alley and drop to my knees and suck your cock?"

Mitsuko felt her stomach coil further. She knew what her relationship with Irei was. It was friendship with sex... That was it. The rational part of her brain told her so. Told her the only reason she had further feelings for him was because he resisted against them, that he would keep her from getting too close and getting hurt. But still the feelings remained.

As she stood naked before Irei, she winced slightly at his remark. "If you didn't want me, you could have just said so. You don't need to make fun of me." There was no anger in her voice. In fact, she spoke with barely a whisper. While Irei was trying to keep his own pride in tact, Mitsuko felt hers take a good hit. Part of her wondered if maybe Irei was just bored with her, especially after his comment before. She'd never been in a sexual relationship more than a week or so. She picked Sascha's shirt off the floor. "I'll just go get dressed properly."

Feeling humiliated, Mitsuko slunk off to Irei's bedroom. She sank down onto the bed and brought her legs up, hugging her knees. She tried to stop herself, she truly she. She berated herself for bringing up her mother. She should have known it would only bring up bad feelings. She cursed herself for being caught in Elysium, unable to wander freely and forcing herself to face attachment and emotions. She felt the tears begin to run down her cheeks and she again cursed herself, this time for allowing these stupid feelings get to her. Especially in Irei's house. She knew he was uncomfortable with such displays. She just hoped he was distracted by breakfast or else thought she was just having trouble finding the clothing that had been haphazardly torn off and discarded the night before.

She tried to get herself under control, but instead let out a small whimper. Mitsuko was feeling lost in the emotions that were coursing through her, in a life that didn't feel like her own.

Irei shook his head. Mitsuko had taken his words the wrong way. She seemed to be hearing what she wanted to hear, and Irei was starting to get a dull throbbing pain in his head. "I didn't say I was tired of it. I don't dance around subjects. I say what I mean Mitsu-chan. And I'm certainly not tired of you, if that is what you think."

Irei looked up from the fruit and at her. He had a hungry expression on his face, but he blinked it away. "Eh? What are you talking about?" He leaned back in the chair and watched her get up and leave in a hurry, although he could barely register what was going on. The bungalow wasn't that big. The rooms certainly weren't far enough away that he couldn't hear her in his room making small sad sounding noises and crying.

He ran his hand over his face in as much an effort to stop it from shaking as trying to block out the sound of her crying. The sound took him back to a place in his memory he didn't want to be. He covered his ears and leaned forward, his elbows on the table as images of a woman sitting in a chair, or laying in his bed flashed through his mind. All the time she was crying. He had been four years old, how could he know how to make it stop?

"Stop it..." He whispered as he heard it hiss behind him.

You always made your mother cry didn't you? And eventually it killed her. What a poor excuse for a son.

"She left me! She dropped me off in that forsaken place and abandoned me there!" He gripped the table and shakily stood up as he yelled at the shapeless spirit.

Say what you will, but you know. You were there when she died. She smiled at you, and you didn't lift a finger to stop her.

Irei slumped back into his chair, limply. He couldn't argue with what he himself believed. He looked at the food again; he wasn't even hungry anymore. He could still hear Mitsuko crying in his room, but is sounded like it was coming from far away. Once again, he would do nothing as someone he cared about cried.

Mitsuko took a few deep, trembling breaths and managed to calm herself enough to find her clothes under the bed and pull them back on. If she was going to cry, she didn't want to do it in Irei and Sascha's house, especially with Irei there. She knew he had trouble when she showed that sort of emotion. She still hiccuped and whimpered as she tried to get herself back to true calm.

Mitsuko opened the door to slip out of the bedroom. She had planned to say a quick good-bye to Irei before making her way out of the bungalow, but before she could leave, she heard him yell. She didn't know who he was yelling at. This jolted her out of her own feelings of self-pity. She'd never heard such emotion from Irei before.

She found him sitting slumped in the kitchen. Mitsuko tilted her head to look at him, worrying her lower lip. She then walked to him, touching a hand to his hair, smoothing it down before caressing his cheek. "Irei-kun," Mitsuko whispered. She leaned in, fiddling with his hair with a single finger, brushing it off his face. "You know, I think we're both pretty broken. Maybe that's why I like you."

She sat back down in her chair. "And I do. You're the one person here who seems to really get what I am and you just accept it. You don't try to ignore it or pretend I'm something else."

She dashed the last of her tears away from her face. While her cheeks were still slightly reddened, she had recovered now. "What can I do?" She asked quietly. "What do you need?"

Irei raised his head slowly and tilted his head as she spoke. There was no other indication that he understood what she said to him aside from the fact that his eyes seemed to be focused on her. He slowly got up, moved back into the kitchen, and made himself a glass of milk. He needed some protein.

"Mitsu-chan, I am like that with everyone. Why would I of all people judge others?" He thought about it and made himself some toast as well. While he normally preferred the feeling of hunger, he knew better than to let himself go too far.

"Get what people are?" He shook his head and smiled at her. "No, I just don't care what people are. They say actions speak louder than words." If he were to be completely honest with himself, his actions didn't really make him appear in as good a light as she seemed to think.

He sighed and walked back to the table when his toast was finished and after he smeared a little butter on the surface of it. A little fat? Ah what the hell. He sat down back in his seat and looked at her. "I am not just simply broken Mitsu-chan." He didn't know how to tell her about himself, and frankly he didn't want to. The less people knew, probably the better.

He reached out and touched her face, running his thumbs under her eyes removing whatever moisture was still there and smiled a little at her. "You know, I'm not worth crying over. You should save that for someone who could take care of you the way you need."

He downed a good portion of the milk, giving himself a milk mustache on his upper lip, and winced a little as the thick liquid hit his empty stomach. He would have to take it slow as he broke his fast.

Mitsuko's smile was slightly sad as she sat, watching Irei move around the kitchen. "I don't care if you are like that with everyone. It doesn't mean any less to me. No one accepts what I do. They think they can change me. That I'll grow out of it. Like I'm not good enough the way I am. But you don't make me feel like that."

She didn't want to get too close to Irei. It felt like it would be an invasion right now. She just wanted to let him have his breakfast. "You accept me. And I wish you would let me accept you."

She leaned into Irei's hand as he wiped away her tears. She sighed softly, nuzzling against his hand. "I don't want someone to take care of me. I want..." She paused, thinking about what exactly she wanted, how to properly vocalize it. "I want you, Irei. I want to be your friend. Like it or not, I care about you." She sniffled slightly. "And not to bruise your ego, but these tears aren't just because of you. Feelings have just been stirred up."

Looking down, she took a deep breath. She then looked back up at Irei. She reached over and wiped the milk from his upper lip with her thumb. "I'm sorry, Irei-kun."

Irei looked at her and sighed inwardly. What drew people like Mitsuko and Sascha to him? What about himself called to people who needed to take care of others and those who want him to take care of them? He placed his hand on his forehead and used his thumb to rub his temple. He was starting to get a headache and was feeling a little nauseous. He probably shouldn't have drunk so much milk so quickly on an empty stomach.

"I don't accept myself Mitsu-chan." She seemed to think that their life experiences were similar that it made them the same, but Irei didn't presume to think that his life had been similar in anyway to the pretty kitsune's. He had no idea what she had gone through, or if life on the outside as a child was more traumatizing than being caged within a hospital. They both did seem to have issues that stemmed from their mothers, but for very different reasons.

"You know, when I first met Sascha, he came to me asking me to bring back someone's soul whom he cared a great deal for. And I did. It was just another job. After that the idiot wouldn't leave me alone." He didn't look at her, but instead stared out a window. "Eventually I stopped telling him to go away."

In his own subtle way, Irei was trying to tell Mitsuko that it would probably take him time for him to fully give her what she asked for. If she really wanted it. It was just difficult for him to put trust into anyone. He had only offered it to one girl before, but that seemed like a lifetime ago.

For as much as Mitsuko had tried to shut off her heart and keep herself unattached, she still found herself in situations like this one. Where she had a need to keep someone close to her. And, in the case of Irei, it was rather unwillingly. She'd never meant for this to happen. Irei was just a fun guy to hang around who was good looking and good in the sack. But he had become one of her dearest friends and even someone she had romantic feelings for. It hurt to admit that and to know that Irei rebuffed such feelings.

"Well, then just accept me accepting you," Mitsuko pleaded softly, her eyes wide and her face far more innocent than she'd looked in a long time. "I've known a lot of bad people... Hell, I am one. And I don't think you're nearly as horrible as you think you are." Irei was right. Their lives had been different. Mitsuko's cage had been gilded. While to many people, it might have appeared a charmed life, she was systematically torn down by her mother, emotionally and mentally abused until a life of crime was the comfy alternative.

Mitsuko sighed softly as she listened to Irei's story about Sascha. It certainly sounded like the telepath. "Sounds like Sascha and I are both idiots." She reached out and brushed her hand against Irei's slender fingers. "Because if you're telling me to go away, I'm not going to listen. I'm a thief. We recognize things of value and insist on possessing them."

She looked up at Irei, her face still tearstained. "And I think your friendship is worth having, Irei." She got up on her tip-toes and pressed a gentle kiss to his cheek.

She pulled back after a brief moment. She bit her lower lip. "I should go. I've got a lot of unpacking still to do. And...." She hesitated for a moment. "I need to go visit my father. I don't know if I'll be able to do it today, but...." Raidon Nagamori had been on her mind lately, as she saw just how wonderful Logan had turned out and as she pulled further away from Midori. She let out a small, bitter laugh. "I have such issues with my mother, I suppose it's not a surprise I have issues with my father too."

Irei sighed silently, and inwardly. She wanted to be a part of his life. Didn't she already know that she was? Her existence in his immediate vicinity was already vitally important to him. He wouldn't tell her because it isn't in his nature to be forthcoming and honest about his feelings. Why do women constantly ask that of him?

"Alright. Accept me if that it what you wish, but I have told you over and over Mitsu-chan. You can't see what you are. The things you steal, they are replaceable. From what I can tell, you have never sought to break people or to destroy them. You are honest, scared, and loving. Not qualities of someone considered a bad person."

He rubbed his head. He was feeling sick, and needed to lie down. She didn't seem to understand what he was trying to say. He allowed her to touch him, and he didn't move, but he felt disappointed that he had attempted to explain something about himself to her, and she had misinterpreted it.

It really shouldn't surprise him all that much. He was the one being cryptic after all. In fact he was used to people doing far worse than not understanding. His mother had abandoned him, his father didn't want him, and they left him in a place where they shot electricity through his body to cure something that was incurable. It was his fault it didn't work, they told him. He didn't want it enough.

He had been lost in his darker thoughts when he felt her lips on his skin. He turned his head and looked at her closely, his blue eyes assessing her movements and motives. It was habit, and a difficult one to break. "You already know I am your friend."

"Parents seem to be the root of most people's problems." Irei recalled hearing about Mitsuko's father's death. His funeral had been held within the haven. It was one of the reasons that Logan had completely shut down and had lost himself within his drawings and creating images of an innocent fae woman from afar.

He sighed softly and smiled through the veil of pain that seemed to bisecting his head. "You wish you had known him, ne? I made an offer to Logan a while back ago, but maybe I should have made it to you instead. I can bring his soul back if you wish to speak with him."

Mitsuko felt her heart swell at Irei's words. No one who would say that to her, who would give her such approval, could be a bad person in Mitsuko's book. In fact, Irei was near the top of her list of good people. She didn't care what was in his past, what dark secrets he seemed to carry. All she cared about was the person she saw now. "Arigatou," she said weakly, her voice faltering slightly. She couldn't think of anything else to say to him at those words. She was at a loss.

She could tell Irei wasn't feeling well. She blamed herself a bit for that. He'd been fine when they woke up in the morning. She had worked him up with her own feelings. The best thing to do was leave him alone now. "It's just nice to hear it," Mitsuko murmured. She was needy and desperate for approval. But hearing Irei say he was her friend lifted some of the weight from her shoulders.

Mitsuko hesitated at the door when Irei made his offer. There was a strong part of her that wanted to pounce on him and give him a huge hug for the offer. She desperately wanted to speak to Raidon Nagamori. But she just stayed completely still. She knew what Irei went through during seances, having seen Kaiya's. Putting him through such stress just so she could have some closure seemed almost cruel. But he was smiling at her. "....Are you sure, Irei-kun?" The hopefulness in her voice was unmistakeable. "I've seen what it does to you."

Irei inwardly winced at the way she thanked him. Why thank him for something like that? He didn't understand how people's minds worked when they wanted to get closer to someone. Everyone came into the world alone, and that was the way they would leave it eventually. He would only admit to himself that yes, the human soul seemed to long for companionship and even his own soul had done so at one point. He had successfully, or so he believed, transferred that need to just occasional sexual encounters that still kept others at arms length.

"Do not thank me for an observation Mitsu-chan. If it were not true, I would not have said it."

Despite his own fickle nature in choosing lovers, truth seemed very important to him. Perhaps it was because he had spent most of his life living a lie, pretending with people, especially those whom he perceived as an authority, to make sure he got the best reaction possible from them. Each time he was left on his own, though; he made choices that had been deemed as bad ones by someone older or more experienced than himself. Then the pattern would be set back into motion as soon as another person came into his life.

"I also would not offer if I wasn't sure." He smirked a little at her. "I don't think that your brother will like to hear about this, although; I guess I would be calling back his father too."

Irei shrugged as she mentioned the cost of doing such a thing to his body. "There is always a cost to what I do. I am used to it though. For a spirit to talk in this plane it has to steal energy from somewhere. The vessel is always the most appropriate or the easiest place."

"If you want to do the thing, then I want to do it soon. I'd rather not wait." He wasn't interested in extending the amount of time to allow her to think more about it. He was still waiting for Zach's answer about calling his brother's spirit. Maybe if he worked with Mitsuko and her father, he could stagger out the jobs a little so it wouldn't take as much out of him.

Mitsuko was thankful for so many reasons, reasons she didn't know if Irei would really understand. She'd always been seen as a screw-up by her Kitsune family. She didn't let many people close to her after that, no one ever really seeing what she was. When people would get a hint of her full true nature, she was dismissed and abused. To have someone see what she was and still like her meant the world to her.

Worrying her lower lip, MItsuko nodded. "Logan really got scared by what happened with Kaiya. I don't think he'd like to see that with our father." Mitsuko had to admit, she was a bit nervous about the idea. But unlike Kaiya, Nagamori Raidon had not died violently by another's hand. He'd died knowing his son and the children he'd been protecting were finally safe in a haven. From what he'd heard from Theora, he'd died quite peacefully. But Mitsuko needed to see him, needed to know that she wasn't just the forgotten child. That he wished he had the chance to know her.

Mitsuko crossed the room quickly and gave Irei a fierce kiss. She knew it was just what he did, a part of his nature, but having this chance meant the world to her. She pulled back quickly, taking in a shuddering breath. She moved back towards the door. "We can do it tonight. Late. Adrienne's coming for dinner, but I'll sneak out when the kids are asleep." She didn't want to prolong the wait. "If you're up for it."
