Who: Mavis and Sascha
When: Afternoon
Where: The Market area
What: Mavis literally runs into someone new.

"Oh shit!" Mavis cursed while trying to reach her hand up towards the sky in order to catch a flying piece of paper that swung back and forth slowly. Stupid wind. Ugh, it was so cold out too. She wasn't meant to hold a bundle of papers not tucked safely inside a folder. They were tightly in her grasp, but apparently they weren't held tight enough. The piece of paper was pretty precious since it was a sheet music. Rare sheet music to be exact that she had discovered at the library and yeah okay she ripped the pages out. So sue her! Wait..she couldn't like..actually get in trouble for doing such a thing could she? Man, then she really should get that piece of paper just in case. She didn't know what she could get in hot water for around here.

As a rush of wind blew on by, the paper began whirling even further away from her. She was blind to the people around her and was just focused on getting that damn piece of paper back. Mavis bumped into several people who either grumbled a curse, or asked what the hell her problem was. "Hey get that piece of paper for me, dammit!" She growled, yet pleaded.

Eventually, she felt the paper within her grasp. But on the losing side, she clashed into someone hard enough to make her head spin. Saying sorry would have been awesome, but she had her piece of sheet music, yes! She also didn't lose any of her other papers.

"Yes I got it!!" She didn't realize she had fallen on her behind and was doing a fist pump. Finally, it occurred to her that she had collided with someone. "Uh..are you okay?" She asked dumbly.

Thank God for Saturdays, Sascha thought with a relieved sigh. No work, no library, no plans...nothing scheduled for today but a little recreation and relaxation. His elven friend from the library, Rowan, also had the day off and had volunteered to take care of the dogs, so they'd set off for the park and left Sascha to his own devices.

His guitar case was strapped over his shoulder as he wandered past the various shops and stalls of the marketplace toward the fountain. He'd had it in his head to pay a visit to the Wine Bar in hopes of seeing Dione again- it had been quite awhile since they'd last had the chance to play together, after all- but apparently he'd missed her. Irei had disappeared earlier that morning and was probably out stirring up trouble somewhere, so the only real thought left in Sascha's mind was to set up camp at the fountain and see what sort of donations he could garner with his guitar-playing. Money was pretty useless now, but food...ah, maybe somebody would spare him some hand-outs.

Sascha was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't hear the girl approaching from behind, but he did see a piece of paper flutter to the ground at his feet. Just as he was bending over to retrieve it, he felt someone collide into his back; it threw him off-balance, but he would have been fine had his assailant not ended up on the ground herself, right in his path. He tried to avoid stepping on the woman and tripped over his own feet, landing hard on his back.

Fortunately- or unfortunately, as the case may have been- the guitar broke his fall with a dull, resounding THUD, and Sascha's eyes widened at the discordant, tell-tale sound of a snapping string. Oh, perfect.

Okay Mavis was like a huge guitar lover and a sucker for cute guys. So the first thing that came to mind is WOW! A cute guy who plays guitars just ran into me! But then the second thing that came to mind was that SHIT! I just broke the cute guy who plays guitar's..well..guitar. Or she at least busted it up a little. "Oh crap! Your guitar! I am so, so sorry!" She covered her mouth a bit while she rose to her feet to check if the man and his guitar were okay. "I promise, I can fix it." She bit her lip and tried to move her head about to see the damages.

Before the man could protest at her, she was already trying to help him up. "I was so into catching my Janis Joplin tab that the whole world didn't exist. I can help you take it to the fix it shop to get the strings, or I can repay you by handing you one of mine. It's a little insane that I have like two acoustics, you know?"

As if she wasn't blabbering enough, she suddenly stopped. "H-hey. You're the librarian guy! I stole these tabs from right under your nose!" Ooops. Wow, sometimes she wished she had a shut up button she could push.

Sascha almost saw stars for a few moments there, and he wondered how many times it was possible to bang up your head before you caused some real, lasting damage. This was twice inside a week- three times if you counted his little trip-up with Logan several days earlier. He probably looked like a giant bruise by now. Actually, the purpled skin around his eye still looked a little angry; it was surely taking its time to heal. He'd definitely be avoiding Danté's fist in the future.

His hand flailed in the air for a few seconds before the strange woman caught it and began to help him to his feet, and he winced at the slight pain in his back. He wasn't sure if that cracking sound he'd heard was the wooden body of the guitar or his own spine, but he hoped the instrument hadn't suffered too much damage. Trying to sit up was awkward with a bulky guitar case strapped to his back, so he slipped his arm out of the strap and left it laying forlornly on the ground.

"I-" he began before the woman cut him off, talking so fast that it almost made his head spin. His ears picked up a few pieces of pertinent information here and there, and he blinked a few times as she mentioned...wait, stolen tabs? He gave the woman a none-too-subtle once-over. She was definitely a talker, but he wouldn't hold that against her- he was a chattering magpie himself, really.

"Sascha Connolly," he said abruptly, lips quirking into a small smile. Oh, she was a pretty one. This would be fun. He arched one eyebrow and pinned her with a serious look, his grip on her hand tightening ever so slightly to prevent her from escaping. "And I'm afraid I'll have to confiscate those papers. Possibly the guitar as well...since you have two, anyway."

Oh yes, this would be quite fun, indeed.

Well, he at least seemed nice! Whew! She was totally afraid he might be all angry and crotchety. Not that he was old or anything! He looked quite good! But when someone does a little damage to something you might love more than just a little you could have a bit of an angry fit over the situation. That was the last thing she wanted because then she might have to try a pouting look and she totally sucked at those. She looked like a fish drowning.

"My name is Mavis Carmine! Nice to meet you Sascha!" She replied cheerfully, thinking that everything was all right. She figured that maybe they could get to talking about guitars while they hit the Fix it shop, but suddenly she found a frown coming across her face. It was great and all to be somewhat stuck with a cute guitarist, but was she in trouble? She swore eventually, coffee stains and everything she was going to return the tabs....

Okay, maybe not.

"Bu-But. I-I need them." She bit her lower lip. "Can I make you a deal? Don't we have a copier in this joint?' Right, they weren't in Kansas anymore. "If you give it back to me I..guessss I can give a friendly librarian a guitar."

OOC: Sorry for the wait!

Sascha almost, almost felt guilty for putting such an adorably worried look on the young woman's face. That was exactly the reaction he'd wanted, of course, especially...ohhh, especially now. So, she was a lip-biter, was she? Damn, that was a little distracting.

"Did I hear something about a deal?" He couldn't keep the edges of his lips from curling into a smirk. "How 'bout this- you give me those papers, fix whatever you've done to my guitar and...then we'll see. You owe me that much, anyway." He raised the back of her hand to his lips and dropped a brief kiss of greeting there. "Deal?"

Sascha nodded toward the fountain. "Let's have a seat, Miss Mavis. I think I'd like to hear some of this music you're so desperate to get your hands on." Without waiting for a reply, he tugged the woman along after him and set his case down on the ledge of the fountain to inspect the damage. The guitar itself was still intact, but the D string had snapped cleanly in two. He fiddled with the tuning knob, trying to undo the remaining length of string as he talked.

"What song have you got? 'Summertime' is one of my favorites, but you look like more of a 'Me and Bobby McGee' sort of girl, am I right?"

OOC: AAAH SO SORRY THIS IS SO LATE!

"Yeah..a deal." She thought she was going to get away with the papers and a big smile on her face. But she was a sucker for cute guys who were charming and it looked like his double talents were going to have her giving those papers back. "And what makes you the owner of these papers might I ask?" She began to inquire before she got the kiss on the hand. That summoned a blush quite easily. "I...I guess..you can have the," She stated in a defeated tone. Damn it all.

Normally Mavis would admit that she would have bitched a little if she was dragged along by someone she hardly knew, but the moment Sascha started talking Goddess Joplin, she kind of forgave him for not only needing the music back, but for anything he'd do in the future. This guy was incredible just for speaking the woman's name. "How'd you know? Don't get me wrong, I could listen to all of her songs for all of eternity, but there's something about the electric in that song that just seals the deal for me. It makes me wish we had a band around here, you know? People willing to perform the shit-er stuff that really was good. David Bowie, Rolling Stones, that sort of stuff. Hell even way back when when Nat King Cole was on top of the charts. I'm not of fan of the new age music. The most recent I'll go is the nineties. U2 is great, Aerosmith put out some killer singles and don't get me started on Santana. Sure, maybe there are a few respectable names, but other wise, I'm 70's and 80's all the way."

The Siren shook her head. "I'm sorry. I talk to much. Especially when I find out I have something in common with someone. Music's just like..incredible..you know?"

Turns out, Mavis had a whole bunch of music in her back pocket too. Some were actually hers though, folded several times over. "Okay, don't laugh but I have The Doors Break on through, Landslide,by Fleetwood Mac.I don't know, there's just something about that song that gets me." She cleared her through kind of in an embarrassed way and continued. Suddenly she laughed when she uncovered one song. "I have Journey's Anyway you want it! Oh, and there was more. "There's this song..by Tracy Chapman, it's called Fast Car. Oh god, the chords may be somewhat repetitive, but the song gets me, every time." Silly girl cried just playing it.

Man, she was talking to much! "Okay, uhm. Well other than that, I have Friend of the Devil by Grateful Dead, AC/DC, Back in Black. Of course, totally crappy on acoustic killer on electric. Fire and Rain by James Taylor, Some Pink Floyd such as Wish You Were Here, Money, Hey you, yada yada and of course Janis. Cry Baby, Piece of My Heart, Me and my Bobby McGee, and Summertime."

There was a long moment of silence. How many of those had she stolen..well..ahem. She wouldn't share that. "Soo, where do we start?" Then it hit her. "OH WAIT! Were you just talking about Joplin songs!?" If so, then CRAP.
