Who: Jia and Alexander
When: Late Afternoon
Where: The Gift Shop
What: Meeting the "nicer" sister

"Okay, have a nice day!" Jia slightly yelled after a customer. He was a real dick and if it was her sister dealing with the oh-so kind gentleman, he would have had a black eye. But she managed to keep a smile and just thought about the wonderful end factor of the man leaving eventually. The shop wasn't all that busy so Jia was somewhat alone on this day. It was a big difference from the other day when there seemed to be about ten employees.

When it began to rain, Jia sat on the counter and swung her legs slightly. She somewhat had this odd temptation to go outside and enjoy the rain. It was just sprinkling at first, but eventually she could hear the rain hit against the windows and the rooftop. Now she could no longer resist the temptation. The psychometric knew it was silly but she slowly walked outside and enjoyed the rain though somewhat cold to the point where it was slightly uncomfortable.

It wasn't long before she felt something slightly burn against her hand. Somewhat dumbly, she watched a cigarette fall to the wet ground. Jia raised an unamused lip while she watched the rain put out the cigarette. Her eyes caught a glance of the culprit who didn't seem to notice and just walked right on.

"Yeah, thanks a lot! Nice to know I'm a human ashtray!" She tried to say sternly like her sister would say, but failed. What an ass. She guessed it was just one of those days.

It would have been fucking wonderful if summer had finally hit. While the forties weren't all that bad, the seventies and above were even better. Alexander had to admit that luckily time seemed to be rolling on by. Maybe the constant set of rumors were helping. Normally, when nothing exciting happened, the psychometric would often just hang out at work or would do the same bull shit routine constantly. It got annoying fast. But when he got to work in a crowded atmosphere where people wanted in on any new gossip on the latest events, it was incredibly fun to fuck with the customers and add in new false "information". It was horrible, it was wrong, but it was entertaining.

He figured he would be home by the time it began to rain, but apparently he was wrong. Alexander was nowhere near his residence, but he didn't start jogging for shelter like some people. He just walked somewhat casually and lit a cigarette while slightly getting pissed when the rain came down a little harder. "Well this fucking sucks."

After his cigarette dwindled down to near burning his fingers, he carelessly tossed it. Only a few minutes later he heard someone trying to give him lip so he turned around. "Well what kind of idiot just stands in the rain? I probably wouldn't have hit you if you stayed indoors like most people."

The man she confronted was cute. But on the downside of it all, he was intimidating. Jia could feel her heart beating out of her chest practically. Maybe she should have just turned away with the slightly hurt expression on her face. Be smart about it and return indoors with clenched fists and muttered words of anger and frustration. But, she continued to speak. Man, it was like her sister was somehow channeling her, telling her to not just take it from some grumpy cute guy. Look on the plus side. She told herself. Least he has a cute accent.

She cleared her throat and threw the stranger and "oh yeah?" expression. "An idiot who isn't afraid of water that simply falls from the sky. I hardly see that as idiotic. I see that as enjoying the weather. Pardon me for not being some pansy that up and runs the minute a drop hits the ground. I enjoy, dare I say standing out in the rain. Besides, ever heard of needing fresh air? Well it just so happens that I need, rather needed fresh air when the weather happens to be crappy."

She too a breath before she continued. "Whatever. I can tell arguing with someone like you is trying to get a frog to fuck a dog." She turned back towards the shop and somewhat smiled. Man, it felt good to just let things out once in a while. Her sister must have had it much easier when dealing with people. It was like Jia felt obligated to deal with people. Daiyu just said something then turned away.

"Whoa, hey. Take it easy. I was just defending myself in regards to you being in the way of my cigarette. If you want to play in the rain, fine. I've seen stranger things in this place. Hell, stick your tongue out and see if the rain here tastes like skittles. I wouldn't give a shit. In fact let me know. I've been curious." He dug in his pocket and already lit up another cigarette. "Just don't stand in the way of pedestrians. Do it maybe out back, all right?" He wasn't expecting the girl to tell him off. Don't judge a book by its cover, yeah yeah. Shame on him. But shame on her for acting like she knew him. He followed her and even pointed at the stranger with his cigarette.

"You don't even know my name. It kind of is a shitty thing to do to speculate that I always need to be right in an argument isn't it?" Alexander then chuckled shortly after. "A frog fucking a dog. Hmm. Never heard that analogy. But I am hard to stop arguing with."

The psychometric knew she probably wanted him to go away, but until he got a feel of how tough the girl really was, he felt comfortable resting his elbows on the counter across from the female.

Jia tried to keep a straight face, but then she suddenly laughed while she made her way to the counter. "Skittles? You take tasting the rainbow to a whole new level. Even if the rain here did taste like skittles, I would be scared shitless that it was fae dust and that stuff can make you high. I'm not sure I would want to be stumbling around town high on fae dust." Damnit, she was supposed to be mad at him!

She then gave the stranger a roll of the eyes. "Yes father. I'll be careful of the pedestrians who use people as ashtrays." He was one of those men who liked to smoke the strong cigarettes too. Just a flick of ashes and the remnants of his cigarette and she smelled like smoke. "It's kind of a shitty thing to assume I'm an idiot." She shot right back, trying to withhold a smile. She felt a little flustered suddenly with what she said before. "Well..I-I-there are always new sayings you can create."

She kind of sucked at staying tough for a prolonged period of time. She hid a defeated sigh and tried to stay stern through the brief moment of silence.

"I don't know. Being high on fae dust sounds kind of high." Alexander stayed silent for a moment. It was almost like he was considering running into a fae and scaring it enough to get a "try out" of their high. Though, if used as a defense mechanism, he wasn't certain the high would be a pleasant one. The thought amused him. Almost as much as the girl who was trying to stay mad at him.

"I really look old enough to be your father?" He sounded disappointed. "I guess that's what smoking does to you. I bet I have only three or four years on you which makes it sad." He almost shuddered. One thing he never wanted to be called was father. Kids just weren't in his day plan.

"You are right." He pretended to admit shamefully. "It was shitty of me to admit you're an idiot. What would you prefer?" The way he said it was in a way that he was asking for the strangers name.

Oh god no, she didn't want this guy to look like her father. She would be highly disappointed if he was too old for her. Not that she thought she stood a chance with this man or anything. Usually Daiyu could get the super cute guys, she attracted the nerdy type and she didn't mind at all. She liked the smart guys that were more into reading and playing music over sex and staying home making out all the time. There was no appeal to her in all that weird boyfriend girlfriend stuff. Okay, she was straying so far off from where she was meant to, it was getting ridiculous. She guessed that in short, she expected her sister to have a run in with a guy like this, not herself.

"No-No." She began to blush horribly. "Not at all. I'm twenty three."

Instead of slapping him, she gave him a light push of the shoulder. She couldn't do damage on the guy even if she tried. "I'm Jia." She said somewhat shyly

Alexander suspected she couldn't stay tough for long. But hey, she tried. The hit on the shoulder only made him look towards where she hit him blankly. Shortly after, the psychometric laughed. He wouldn't knock her anymore since she moved on to giving him a name. "Jia? That's an interesting name. One of a kind here, I'm sure. I bet you I'll run into at least one or two Alex's though my mother was dead set that my name had some unique meaning to it." He wasn't too unique himself he didn't think.

"How long have you been here? Wait. I am sure you get that a lot. How long have you been working here and where were you from before this all happened?" He hopped up on the counter since the chairs didn't look very comfortable and the bench nearby was pretty fucking disgusting looking.

"I know. This whole meeting has taken a drastic turn. But seriously, I am interested. It's probably tossed around here more than anything else, you know. The typical how's and what. But at least I have migrated away from teasing you about standing out in the rain."

Jia didn't know why, but she kind of blushed at the sort of compliment towards her name. "Thank you. It means beautiful in Chinese. In case, you know you cared or whatever." She waved a hand dismissively. That was weird. She can't believe she even went there with the whole name explanation. "My sister has a much cooler name. Her name means black jade. She's Daiyu. She works at the art shop. We're twins" Great, now she felt even more weird that she was giving out useless information. Not only that but now he might mention that he knew her and that she was the "hotter one". Jia got that a lot. Her sister was a lot more daring, up front and Jia herself thought she was prettier. She had a great sex appeal not just because of her body.

"But hey!" She said somewhat in a perky tone. "I like Alexander. Yeah, it can be a pretty basic and common name, but I love Alexander the Great. He gets so underrated and under appreciated at times for what he did. Can you imagine building a huge empire by the time you were in your early thirties? He died at thirty two and had so much to show for it. He still to this day is one of the greatest military commanders in history. I idolize that." She chuckled. "Sorry, I'm a nerd. Not to mention I love Greek mythology and history. Mostly Greek Mythology, Roman history not to mention their mythology. It's so amazing how their mythology often gets mixed up with Greek Mythology! Mythology in general I love and anything leading up to the 1800s. There is something so wonderful about it. If I could, I'd be there." She still couldn't believe she was talking to him so freely. He didn't give a shit she was sure.

Jia ran a hand through her wet hair and sighed. "Ah, the grand question." She smiled towards Alexander stating that she wasn't bothered by the question. "I have been here for a long time. Since July I believe. Sometimes, it's hard to remember because I just want to forget about the journey, the horrible things I've seen." She shook her head a bit. "It was awful. When I got here I thought it was unreal that there was no more traveling needed."

The psychometric waited a moment before she turned towards Alexander. "How about you? How long have you been here?" She then laughed. "I'm glad we've moved on to better things." She needed help. She was starting to like this guy.

"I don't know, I think the name suits you." Alexander didn't mean for that to seem like a pick up line, so he quickly continued. "I mean it sounds delicate and all compared to your sister." he suddenly perked up when he learned they were twins. "AH, that's why you look so familiar. I have run into your sister a few times before. She's kind of a bitch. I really don't talk to her. I just get the goods that I need and then get the hell out of there. Black Jade suits her since it sounds like the name of an assassin and she has got one hell of a temper." If he had to pick one or the other, he would pick Jia. Though he was a complete prick to her at first, her nerdy yet interesting personality made it hard to not like her or want to talk to her.

He was almost cracking up when she went crazy over his name. "That's who my mother named me after. She was really into Greek mythology too. All sorts of Mythology. My younger sister is named Hera so I'm sure you would love her. She's kind of like your sister in the sense that in some ways people think she is the more bitchier one. I think I'm just the grinch of everyday life." He concluded honestly. "My sister..is..well a bitch." They both had great names, but he knew that he never felt like he accomplished anything near monumental as the greta man he was named after.

He actually felt bad for Jia, which was rare. He had heard a few stories and he dismissed them, but Jia seemed genuinely affected by what happened. He remained silent for a moment since he didn't know what to say. He couldn't do the comfort thing all that well. "Me? I haven't been here long. It's better if you just act ignorant. I think it hurts less. I think it makes you miss home less often. But if I had to guess I arrived early January. I remember people saying how shitty the New Year was. So, it had to be at least after New Year."

He somewhat laughed along with her. "Yeah. I'm glad we got passed the whole knocking each other ordeal too."

Jia failed to recognize the blush on her face for a moment and when she noticed it, she just accepted it instead of letting herself get all funny. The last thing she wanted was for Alexander to make fun of her reaction to his compliment. Though it was nice and quite different from him being such a bastard when she first met him. "Thank you. I wasn't sure if I liked it when I was growing up. But then I grew to like it a lot." She stated softly while tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. She could remember when her hair was short not all that long ago.

The psychometric perked up when she heard that Alexander knew her sister. Not long after she burst out laughing. "Yeah, she can be quite vicious. I guess I think it's weird you wouldn't be friends with her since she is kind of more I don't know. Open and mean? Not saying you're mean or anything." She gave him a playful glare. "Well...you sure can be." She waved a hand and continued. "But she just says what she wants and maybe in your case you guys clash instead of get along. But I hear that she is either a bitch or scares people from many. Others think she is super hot and awesome. So I guess it is fifty-fifty depending in what you like in someone."

Jia was even more amused when Alexander spoke of his sister. "Wow, you both have amazing names. Hera wasn't nice in mythology, so it's kind of interesting that you say that about your sister." She glanced to the side and bit her lip. "If it's okay..May I ask what makes her a bitch?" She guessed she liked getting to know Alexander. He seemed like a great guy.

She then frowned when he spoke of his arrival. "I'm..I'm sorry you had to spend New Years out and about the hell that is outside this haven."

Alexander couldn't help but laugh about how Jia thought that he might connect well with her sister because she was mean at times like he was. But if he tried hard enough, he could connect well enough with the "nicer" people. "Yeah. Oddly enough I'm the whole fifty-fifty way as well. Sometimes I'm more like eighty-twenty. But, ah. Shit just happens."

When he spoke of their names he gave a nod in thanks then wondered if he should talk about his sister. It wasn't like he cared or anything. It was almost as if he was afraid she would overhear him or something. That girl had eyes and ears everywhere. "Well, you see. She's a party animal and if I tell her to stop or have to drag her ass back home she can seriously beat me up. She is a control freak and likes to fight. She never lets me try and talk during arguments and just likes punching things. She doesn't let go. Don't get me started on a few days before the full moon.." He didn't mean to give that much detail. But maybe Jia wouldn't get that his sister was a lycanthrope. A bitchy one at that.

The psychometric shrugged. "Hey. Life sucks for everyone now you know? I'd hate to feel sorry for myself."

"I'm liking how I get to see the rare twenty. I guess it's because I don't take things all too personally. That and I know better than to argue since I don't have that many good comebacks." She admitted sheepishly. "So I'm not a threat to your "dick-o-meter" or anything." Yeah, she knew that sounded awkward, so she moved on.

Jia would have hated to make Alexander speak of his sister and she feared that he thought she was intrusive but she felt relieved when he began to talk about Hera. She caught on to the lycanthrope bit only because of the fact that his sister could kick his ass. Not that she couldn't anyway because girl were totally kick ass but Alexander was very built looking. It was hard to believe that his sister could take him on without either some super wrestling skills or the help of..well..lycanthropy helped. Or so she read in books. Man, she really needed to stop like reading all these ridiculous books. One day she was going to ask a lycanthrope if what she read was correct. She at least knew that in their human form they were stronger.

"My sister can kick my ass. She's no different from me though. We're both just psychometrics."

"That's true." He didn't specify on what he was talking about until a few moments later. "The comebacks part." Of course he said that because he knew she wouldn't take it personally just as Jia had stated. "I guess I should have a warning on how much of a dick I'm going to be. It's only fair to the people that have to deal with me." He commented on the statement that seemed to make Jia feel stupid. Alexander actually thought that it made sense.

He perked up when she spoke of her and her sister being psychometrics. It sure as hell was a small world. "Wait a second. You're psychometric?" He tapped his lighter against the wood surface before he lit up yet another cigarette. However, when the first fume of smoke blew into the shop, he was much more courteous and angled himself so the smoke wouldn't blow in her face.

"Huh. Small world." He left it at that for starters.

Well, they were making progress. Jia thought it was really sweet of Alexander to smoke in the other direction while she tried to put together his last words. Suddenly, like a hammer to the head, she got it. "Oh! Are-Are you and your sister psychometrics!? Okay, now she was going to blabber on like an idiot. "Is your ability strong? Who is stronger?"

She got closer to Alexander, not caring about the strong fume of the smoke. "To be honest, my sister is better. However, I am getting better and better as time passes by. When we work together, we are amazing." She had to give herself some credit, right? Sighing she knew she should not talk about the services needed at the Town Hall. "It's scary sometimes..some things...I don't want to see."

This was all too amazing. It was so refreshing to be able to talk to someone who could relate. Maybe he would be like her sister and tell Jia to suck it up. But Jia never knew.
