Tuesday: January 29, 2008
Who: Dante, Zach, Nico
When: Afternoon
Where: Around the cottages
What: It's not smart pissing off a werewolf

He had been watching Zach ever since their last confrontation. The alchemist's activities were of particular interest to the lycanthrope since they involved Adrienne. Adrienne was his only concern. She was the goal, the only thing that mattered in this situation. Dante had been waiting for Zach to follow through with their agreement, but so far he hadn't seen a sign of it. Day in and day out Dante watched, and waited for the alchemist to break up with Adrienne; but all he saw was the two of them growing closer. This wasn't how it was supposed to work; this was all wrong.

Zach hadn't broken up with Adrienne, and it was obvious that he hadn't taken Dante's threat seriously. It was an annoyance that grated Dante like nails on a chalkboard, and all he could do now was deliver the message again. It was a waste of time, time that he could be spending watching Adrienne, being with Adrienne. Adrienne, Adrienne - she was the only thing on his mind right now. He could have been with her now if Zach had followed through, but the little chicken shit decided to grow a pair and defy him. He'd learn that that was a mistake.

He stalked the two boys for a few minutes until he emerged from some nearby bushes like a bat out of hell. Dante went straight for Zach, and grabbed the boy by the collar. "I thought I told you to stay away from her!" He pushed Zach away from Nico violently. "Listen here, boy, she's mine and you don't belong near her. Got it?" He pointed his finger toward him in a menacing manner, ignoring Nico all the while. He didn't care about the other man, though maybe he should have considered the fact that a witness was not something he should overlook.

The sudden attack out of nowhere startled Zach, and he found himself stumbling backwards as Dante grabbed his collar. Given that only a moment ago he was talking and laughing with Nico, it was hard for his mind to process the new switch of direction. His hand went for the one on his shirt and grasped the wrist, and the shocked expression on his face quickly turned to a growl once he realized who it was.

“You need to get your fuckin’ hand off of me,” Zach snapped at Dante. He already told himself he wasn’t going to take this crap from the crazed lycanthrope. Dante could feed him this bullshit all he wanted, but it didn’t mean Zach was going to believe him or take it seriously. Dante obviously didn’t have the balls beyond acting like a bully, so why should Zach take him seriously?

Besides, he did something he normally wouldn’t have done. He kept a sharp piece of plain metal on him to use as a good threat to Dante if he ever needed the protection again. With the touch of his hand, Zach could have silver in his grasp. He wasn’t the type to make silver because of Adrienne, but if he had to make it to scare away a crazy, he was more than ready to do so.

Nico reacted quickly to the attack even though it came out of nowhere. He put himself in between Zach and Dante even though the lycanthrope had a strong grip on Zach's collar. "Motherfucker! Get your hand off of him." Nico punched Dante in the gut a few times, and tried to push him away from his best friend. Nobody treated Zach that way, and Nico would not sit idly by and let this bastard hurt his friend.

He delivered a few more jabs at the attacking man, and then aimed a punch at his face. This guy was a dick as far as Nico was concerned; no, he was more than a dick. He was an asshole. A psychotic freak who had no right going around attacking people, especially his best friend. "I said step back, motherfucker!" Nico gave him another hard shove to drive the point home.

So the little boy decided to act tough today because he had his little friend with him. It was enough to make Dante laugh, and he did. A little. A low rumble of a chuckle that came from the back of his throat. The lycanthrope tightened his grip on Zach's collar, and the material grew taut around the boy's neck. Dante didn't care that Nico was in between them, or if he was being punched in the stomach.

It wasn't until the punch in the face did Dante loosen up on the shirt, letting go completely when Nico punched him in the face. The werewolf's inner demon revealed itself in the smirk on his lips, and the hate in his eyes. He rubbed his chin, and moved it from side to side. He let his hand fall to his side and started to laugh. "That tickled," he said in a mocking tone to the sprite. His attention didn't stay there for long before he turned to Zach.

"I bet you feel pretty lucky to have your guard dog around, don't you Pretty Boy?" Dante took a step toward the two boys. "Makes you feel like a man, don't it?"

Zach felt the hand letting go of his collar, and he immediately reached into his jacket to lift the metal from his pocket. He didn’t hold it out directly or above his head. He kept it at waist height, knowing the best momentum was from the bottom up. Still, the metal began to gleam a shiny tone of silver over the dull gray it originally possessed on the exterior. Zach was feeling a little cocky because of the friend at his side and the silver in his grasp.

“Yeah, well, I don’t need a guard dog when I can slam a silver spike into your jugular, now do I?” Zach asked through gritted teeth, lifting the spike of silver just high enough to catch Dante’s eye. “Just come near me again, and we’ll see how things turn out.” It was a challenge if there ever was one. In fact, it might have been a little something Zach didn’t know he inherited from his distant relative, Hayate. There was definitely a spark in the bloodlines on each side of his family. When it came to protecting oneself or their loved ones, it wasn’t wise to mess with them.

There was a smirk on Nico's lips when Danté released Zach, and he felt even more badass than before. It had been a while since he had punched anyone as hard as he punched Danté, and it felt really good when he did it. He'd gladly do it again for his best friend, and just for good measure. The bastard deserved it as far as Nico was concerned.

The glint of silver caught Nico's attention, and he let out a chuckle as he turned to Danté. "Looks like the little doggy is scared of a little bit of silver. I say you stab him anyway even if he doesn't come near you, Zach," Nico suggested. He crossed his arms over his chest, and spit at the werewolf's feet. "You're a piece of shit. No wonder you can't find your own damn girl. Gotta go around and piss on other people's trees. You're pathetic."

Nico released his arms, and stepped forward to push Danté again. "Get outta here, bitch." Nico could be ghetto when the moment called for it, and this was definitely one of those moments. He wasn't afraid of Danté, werewolf or not.

Though Zach and Nico did their best to be intimidating Dante found their act to be amusing. He chuckled a bit, and made an "ooh" sound when Zach pulled out the silver spike. "Bravo, Zach." He clapped his hands in a very sarcastic way. "Looks like your balls finally dropped. Next thing you know you'll grow some hair on your chest." There wasn't much that scared Dante, but silver was something that he tried to not mess around with. He could touch it, and tolerate the slight sting it gave, but getting stabbed was a different matter.

Dante's problem lied with Zach, not Nico; but Nico insisted on becoming entangled with them. He might have let Nico go, but the sprite wouldn't drop it. If he insisted on being involved then he too would face the consequences.

The werewolf ignored the threats made by the two boys, and made one of his own. "Stay away from Adrienne," he reiterated. "Or I'll kill her." He shrugged his shoulders. "The choice is yours." There wasn't anything else for him to say to the alchemist, and he walked away from them with his hands in his pockets. He began whistling a happy tune; a man without a care in the world by the looks of it. His mind was working though, and when night fell he would show Zach just how serious he really was.

Zach gritted his teeth and bent over to pick up a rock with his free hand. He immediately threw it at Dante’s back, successfully hitting the guy and feeling a small sense of accomplishment. “You better run, fucker!” Zach yelled at him, feeling his entire chest swell with rage at the last thing Dante said to them. If Dante wanted to be crazy about Zach leaving Adrienne, it was one thing, but to threaten her life? Was kind of shitty, fucked-up mentality was that? It only pissed Zach off further.

He thought the rock might make him feel better, but it didn’t help too much. Zach looked over at Nico, the anger and confusion clear on his face. He gestured in the direction Dante took off in. “That fucker has been confronting me about this a few times now. He keeps telling me to leave Adrienne like I’m going to fucking listen to him.” Zach threw his hands up. “What the hell does he expect me to do? Listen to him? He can go suck off a goddamn monkey, and I still wouldn’t listen to him.”

Most of all, Zach didn’t understand why Dante was doing this. “It doesn’t make any sense. You know, except for him being psycho, nothing else registers.” Zach began to walk off down no path in particular, shaking his head and heading for a tree to lean against momentarily. “Nico, what am I supposed to do?”

Nico followed Zach's example, and picked up a rock in each hand. He threw them full force at the retreating werewolf, laughing heartily when one hit Danté in the back, and the other in the back of the head. "Pussy!" His laughter wouldn't stop until the lycanthrope was out of sight. He lifted his middle finger in Danté's general direction, and then turned to Zach. He knew his friend was pissed, but Nico thought that there was more to the situation than he fully understood.

It became clear when Zach explained things, but Nico couldn't really say he was that surprised. The guy was definitely off his rocker, and not worth worrying about. People who talked big usually didn't have anything to back it up.

"Why the fuck would you break up with Adrienne? So he could have a chance with her?" Nico rolled his eyes, and shoved his hands into his pocket. "Fuck, bro. Even if you broke up with Adrienne she would never go out with a piece of shit like him. Besides, she loves you too much." He clapped a hand on Zach's shoulder, and then followed him down the path. He only let go when Zach leaned against a tree.

"Crazy people don't ever make sense," Nico said, shrugging his shoulders. "And you don't have to do anything. Just ignore it. He'll get tired eventually. I mean, shit... you love Adrienne. If this was some kind of fling, and that bastard was the crazy ex I'd say break it off. But it ain't."

He was quiet for a few minutes which was unlike Nico, but he was thinking hard about what to do next. He didn't want Zach to worry, and so he suggested the only thing he could think of. "Let's go get a drink," he bounced his eyebrows at his best friend. "We kicked some ass today! We deserve it."

Zach crossed his arms as he leaned against the tree. Obviously, Dante was out of his mind. He was pining for a taken woman and expecting her current boyfriend to break up with her just so she was free for the taking, but Nico was right. Did the guy actually expect Adrienne to go out with him? “That fucker needs psychological help,” Zach spat out.

Venting out his frustrations for the moment with his best friend made Zach feel better pretty quickly. It was easy to let things go when he had someone not only backing him up, but showing the lighter side of the situation. Dante just had one too many screws loose, and the only thing Zach could do for now was ignore the psycho. Dante was one of those dogs who just barked and couldn’t even bite, so it wasn’t like he was a real problem. If he bothered Zach again, Zach would make sure to find a way to beat his ass into the next millennium — possibly with the help of a friend.

Nico brought Zach back down to earth with his suggestion for them to go out and get a drink together. Zach smiled back at his friend and rolled his shoulders as he uncrossed his arms. “Yeah, let’s go get a drink. Maybe we can hit the combat gym afterwards, too,” he suggested with a grin. Zach playfully punched Nico in the arm and led the way down the path to the wine bar.
