Who: Jordan - Open
When: Afternoon
Where: The Arts and Trade Enclave
What: Getting in out of the rain

Jordan really hated the rain, beyond just about anything else, including stupid people who got in her way from getting home. She'd brought an umbrella of course, but it wasn't good enough. She didn't know why she bothered coming out in the rain, except that she felt some morbid sense of duty to the people waiting to be buried. She should have told herself that they could wait another day to be put in the ground because they were fucking dead and they didn't give a shit when they were buried. But for some reason she'd gone out when it hadn't been raining in the morning to the funeral home and stayed the rest of the day when she should have been sitting at home.

By the time the day was out, it was raining and she was in a bad mood. Though she was always in a bad mood, this one was more than usual. She'd only gotten as far as the enclave before she gave in and came in out of the rain. It was a pity because she didn't want to be here either, looking at a bunch of crap. Yes, she considered it crap pretty much. She didn't see anything that she really needed or wanted to buy, but she wandered around a bit, trying to keep her mind off the fact that she was wet. Wet, and grumpy and sore now thanks to the rain. It hurt her, it drained her. She felt exhausted, and beyond grumpy.

At least this way there wouldn't be a chance of her catching anyone on fire. No she was pretty much without anything but her sharp wit and of course her fists. Though she did like to hit people. Out of habit, she reached in her pocket and pulled out her cigarettes. Were people supposed to smoke in here? Probably not, but she didn't care. However when she put the cigarette up to her lips she realized that she couldn't light the damn thing. And she didn't have a lighter, why the hell would she need one of those. Dammit. Now she needed to find someone with a light. Definitely not happy.

Brian was kind of weird when it came to the rain. Though absolutely unpleasant when he had to deal with the snow, he was quite a fan of the rain. Though it wasn’t exactly the warmest of days, he walked about without an umbrella and enjoyed his walk towards the Arts and Trade Enclave. He didn’t go to the opening, so he supposed he would look around during the daytime.

The place was impressive, he thought so the minute he walked in. But then there was that feeling of suddenly not being interested in spending most of your day looking at various things. The walk was quite long to the location and simply turning back and walking all the way back home made Brian decide to stay. Not to mention he needed to dry off. He was soaking wet.

The sorcerer was not a smoker. There was something unattractive about it though he didn’t think less of others who smoked. He noticed a woman struggling to light her cigarette and chuckled to himself. Brian would have made a witty comment but it seemed like it wasn’t a grand idea. So, when he spotted a smoker outside he asked for their lighter momentarily and lit her cigarette for her before throwing the lighter back to the rightful owner.

“You seemed to be having a bit of trouble there.” He probably was going to get the “no shit” treatment. But he could handle it.

It was a good thing he hadn't made a witty comment, because right then she would have likely ripped his head off. Maybe literally, or at least tried. And she was standing there, thinking about shrugging off her coat when he actually came over with a lighter. A lighter and no words, to light her cigarette. It was the no talking thing that probably made her not actually snap at him, and maybe if she had been in a better mood she would have been grateful for it.

Well it wasn't that she was ungrateful, it just didn't seem like he was going to get a thank you for a while. Once her cigarette was lit, she inhaled deeply and then exhaled. That was better, much better. But she was still wet, and still weak and now ached all over. She finally shed her coat, though she didn't know where to stick it so she just held on with her one arm.

Though she did notice that the guy hadn't gone away, and much like everyone else he seemed to want to talk. Great. Just great. Couldn't she get around someone who didn't want to bug her? After another drag from her cigarette, she sighed and looked over at him. "Really? Oh thank you great Kreskin, I had no idea. I thought it was all sunshine and rainbows." Her eyes rolled at his smart comment.

Brian somewhat moved his head away from the cloud of smoke that went in his direction. Not a fan of smelling like smoke though there was an odd fragrance already to the rain. Smoke and rain for some reason didn’t seem to mingle all that well. He wouldn’t know too much in detail because he wasn’t a smoker. Funny thing was he didn’t smell it on his snarky new encounter. The sorcerer really didn’t feel like he had to bite his tongue or anything. He just had to be careful how he worded things.

Oh this woman screamed anti-social and Brian had no idea why he was drawn to people like that. Probably because he was so curious as to why they were that way. Was it just because talking to people was a chore or was it because he seemed like a talker? He really wasn’t. It depended on the person’s preference.

“Oh you’re quite welcome great citizen and please, I do prefer Sir Brian Gallagher.” He gave her a lifted brow while he pretended to give a light bow. “You and sunshine and rainbows seems like sharks being friends with seals.”

It was probably because she smelled like something worse than smoke. Maybe like steam at the moment, since she'd just been rained on. Like when some kind of burning hot stone, which had water poured on it and then started to steam. That's probably what she smelled like if she smelled like anything at all. And she made no move to try and wave the smoke out of his face, why would she?

She had no idea why he was drawn to people like that either, and she didn't know at all why she was drawn to people in general. She didn't like them. Period. But there was always something she found intriguing in the same way. That's why she hadn't stomped off once he had lit her cigarette for her. She just stared at him, but didn't sigh anymore.

Of course he had to be smart in response. Well, it was better than cowering, she supposed. She had to give him that. "I'm not calling you sir," was all she said. And she definitely wasn't bowing. "Is this where I'm supposed to say fish are friends, not food?" What? Like she hadn't seen Finding Nemo before?

"Oh." Brian began. "Must you take things so seriously? Did you really think I was expecting you to treat me like royalty? We're all technically shit here. Judging you, you couldn't even give a damn about the Vice or Head Council though I doubt you'd break any rule." He wasn't trying to profile her. This was an educated guess. She just read: I don't give a flying fuck.

He chuckled at her statement about fish. "On the contrary. They make quite good food. Where would non red meat eaters be if they didn't have fish? Besides, I can't keep a goldfish alive for more than ten days. So what bloody horrible pets and orr friends they make. Either leave them alone or eat them, I say." Of course this was another game of being smug carefully.

Brian noticed the finding Nemo jab and couldn't help himself. "I liked Dora the best by the way. Of course, nothing says good Pixar movie like stoner turtles as well."

"Serious? I wasn't aware I was taking anything you say seriously," she countered. Of course no one could tell when she was joking and when she wasn't because it always sounded the same. There wasn't a sarcasm filter on her. "And you shouldn't judge people, or what they would or wouldn't do." Though that time she'd been actually saying something serious that time, but she wouldn't blame him if he didn't take her seriously anymore either. But no, she didn't give a flying fuck, that didn't mean she wanted to be judged about it.

Her nose wrinkled a bit, "It's okay I suppose." Fish lived in water, and she didn't really like water all that much. "I tend to leave them alone. In fact neither are sharks. I stay away from the water." As if he couldn't tell. Or maybe he couldn't, she was always clueless about what they could tell and what they couldn't. And by they she meant anyone who wasn't her.

"I think it's Dory, but I'm glad you think so." She took another drag off of her cigarette. "Did you need something else?" she asked curiously, though she tried not to sound that way and sound more like 'hey get lost' because though that only sometimes worked, it worked better than sounding like she was curious.

"Can you explain to me why you're so unfriendly?" Brian asked this with a bit of the shrug of the shoulders before he found somewhere comfortable to lean against. "I can't say that I need anything else sadly, but I do just have that very basic question." He knew there were a few people in the haven they may have gave this woman a reason to be the way she was. Plus, not everyone was friendly or always pleasant. "And are you always like this?" He gave a fake lit up expression. "Oh, please say yes! I love challenging people."

Brian could understand why some people just didn't like to be bothered in general. To some, maybe getting to know people was a chore. It wasn't like back home. You weren't in necessarily a familiar environment. There was the whole having to talk when you got here, perhaps how you got here. In some cases maybe the whole species chat went down. He had to do it. But perhaps he just was more tolerable of people.

"Before you fully tell me to bugger off, it would be nice to have a name. Only fair since you know mine."

Explain to him? Seriously? Jordan was beginning to seriously wonder if everyone in Elysium was this much of a pain. Everyone she spoke to seemed to want to know why she was cranky, they were always bent on asking her questions and getting in her face. Sure he had been nice and lit her cigarette, but that didn't mean she liked him. She gave this frustrated near-growl under her breath when he said he didn't want anything but for her to answer the question. He loves challenging people? "You must be an idiot," was all she said for a moment. Then she took a couple more very long drags off her cigarette so she didn't do something she'd regret.

"Because people in general are loathsome. They don't mind their own business, they're nosy, ungrateful, lacking manners and decency. Why would I want to be friendly to people like that. I might not be pleasant, but I'm truthful, and I have morals." Generally. "I haven't broken your arm for annoying me have I?" Would she? Well if he asked for it. She only did things like that when they asked for it. Oddly enough they did that a lot. "And yes, I'm always like this."

Finally when she was done with her cigarette, she looked around for somewhere to put it out before going to the trash can and putting it out on the lid. Well, it was better than just crushing it on the floor or something. And at least she threw it away. "You can call me Jordan, if you insist." Did she know his name? She hadn't been paying attention. Oh right, when he told her he was a Sir whatever. Either way it didn't sound like that was her real name, but whether he kept prodding was up to him. He'd have to deal with the consequences after all.

"I am an idiot." Brian stated back to her. "In fact I am so much of an idiot that I am considerate to people that are rude for no reason. Imagine that. It's okay though, this conversation still interests me even with the name calling. You could have gone for a dumb ass. It's a little less classy, but more hard hitting."

What she said was fair enough. People were generally all of the above, but he couldn't say he fully agreed. However, he bit his tongue. For a short time anyway. "I can understand your point. But don't you think coming across a little bitchy and..hmm threatening as well makes people seem how you stated them to be? Maybe if you were nicer you'd see the better half of people." He stated with a shrug. "Just an opinion I know you'll throw in the shitter five seconds from now."

He turned his head to the side slightly when he muttered. "I feel slightly bad for those who deal with you quite often." Well be better move onward after that little commentary. It was good that she actually gave him a name. Somehow he should have almost felt honored or like he made out of an obstacle without getting killed.

"It's Brian."

Her head nodded as if he was telling the absolute truth in the world, "That is pretty idiotic, I can't imagine why you would." Honestly she never understood those type of people. Her nose winkled at the thought of calling him dumb ass. "Only you would decide the difference between idiot and dumbass. The thought that you actually think about things like that? Proves my point."

She felt a bit better after her cigarette, like maybe the rain had just made her more grumpy than usual. "I don't know how to be a ray of fucking sunshine, I'm afraid. But you're probably right. If I was nice, than people would be nice to me. I just really don't give a flying fuck." It had taken less than five seconds really.

His statement about feeling bad for others actually made her smile. "I'm sure you do. And you're actually giving up rather easily. I'm kind of surprised. You looked more stubborn than that.. Brian."
