Who: Jordan - open
When: Evening
Where: The cafe
What: Grabbing a bite to eat

The day had been slow but steady, and by the end Jordan was feeling more tired than she was letting on. It was saying something since she rarely felt tired at all. It wasn't like there had really been a rush of new people to bury, or the dead come knocking on her door. She couldn't quite explain what had caused this new wave of tiredness, but she hoped it would be ending sooner rather than later. In any case, it had caused her to actually wrap up things early and head home sooner than she would have normally.

After she had shut everything down, Jordan headed for home. About half way there though, she realized how hungry she was. And for the first time in a long time, she didn't feel like just finding whatever was around to eat. Normally she loathed going to places that had actual people in them. Too many people around her bugged her. But the prospect of going home and sitting alone in her house and having to cook was something that was even less appealing.

Finally giving in, she stopped at the cafe to grab a bite to eat. She was more than a bit anal when it came to certain things, eating was one of them. By the time she gathered her food and sat down at one of the empty tables, she had rearranged her food so that everything was perfectly neat and straight. Her silverware was as straight as she could possibly get it, and everything she ate was possibly in alphabetical order. But that was besides the point. There were some other people around, none that she knew or cared to know. Though there might not be too many other places to sit, except for the empty chairs at her table.

But it wasn't like she'd bite someone's head off if they asked to sit with her. Right?

Sinclair had this bizarre fascination with how paranoid people were. Walking to town with a sketchbook in his hands and doodling carelessly behind someone was apparently a crime. He might be trailing them, profiling them, or might at any moment use artistic ability as a pick up line. Not bloody really. The Dhamphir was just drawing the trees and the surrounding areas. In his mind the picture was just as bland as the evening itself. He was a fan of cold weather strangely. The more depressing the weather, the better motivated he was to draw or work. Now January was ending and it became clear spring time was drawing closer and closer. All he could do was hope that there would be plenty rain. Maybe the whole April showers applied in this place. If not, well..that blew.

His main reason for heading to town was that all that was in his residence were candy bars and fruit drinks. It was sad too since Sinclair knew how to cook. He had weird eating habits but occasionally moments struck where he actually felt like eating what most considered an actual meal.

When Sinclair arrived at the Market, he grew too lazy to shop for foods and simply walked into the restaurant. Though not really a man of a social personality he sat at the first table that struck his fancy. Instead of saying the typical hello to the woman across from him, he cocked his head to the side while drawing his chair further towards the table. “How long have you been here? I mean, like at this table?” It sounded rude, but it wasn’t intentional.

Though she might have noticed the fact that someone was walking along and trying to find a seat, but she didn't think they'd actually come and sit with her. So she continued to eat, making sure that everything was nice and neat, and that nothing was disturbing her. Of course that was about to change. It took her a moment to actually look up when she felt someone sit down in the seat across from her.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, but perhaps not enough to notice. She gazed around, perhaps to see if the place was really full enough for him to come over and sit with her. However she didn't actually say anything until he said something to her. Great, now he wanted to make conversation? Well at least it gave her an opportunity to say something.

"Twelve minutes, and 32 seconds, A minute and a half of that time has been taken up by someone who thinks this is a free country," she said plainly. She didn't care if it sounded rude because she probably meant it that way.

Sinclair sat back in his seat and chuckled. Sometimes, there were people who interested him enough for him to stay within in his comfort zone. Her attitude at least intrigued him. Toying with a fork he raised her a question. "But isn't it? I mean besides the Elven guards and the boring meetings we attend, I think it's a pretty damn free country or haven. I heard there were a curfews before, but that's not too bad. It's not like we're treated like five year olds."

Proving so, he opened his pack of cigarettes and lit one with his zippo. "Like, I don't see a no smoking sign. Therefore, I think I have the freedom to smoke. But I'll make sure to smoke away from your general breathing space."

She just gave a Look in his general direction. Did he really just say that? "Let me give you some advice. If you have to say things like 'besides this' or 'besides that' then no, it's not at all a free country. If it was, then you wouldn't have to say besides." It was obvious that he was trying to annoy her, perhaps. Or just wanted to see her reaction to things.

Instead she just started to eat, not paying much attention to him until he pulled out that damn cigarette and the lighter. "Good, or else I'll make that lighter explode and scar up that pretty little face of yours." She said very calmly, not even looking at him. He wasn't worth all of that, but she wasn't going to have him blowing smoke in her face.

Well shit. Sinclair just looked at her for a moment, eyes blinking pretty slowly while he took in everything she said. Some people just sucked. This woman was awesome. He was caught in between asking how she could damage his face or simply putting his cigarette out. Oh, the choices. "Well. I'm flattered that someone finds my face pretty. I don't think I've heard that in the span of my entire life. Coming from someone who added that they'd scar it up after the compliment, I think I should be highly moved."

Putting his cigarette out in a glass of water (unsure if it was hers), he crossed his arms. "I'm curious though! How can you make my lighter explode?" He always had a spare so he made sure to dig out his shitty zippo from his back pocket. "Are you some creative pyromanic, or am I sitting across someone of higher value in comparison to a human?"

In an "I dare you" fashion, he lit the zippo but moved his head back, admitting to valuing having a tolerable face.

The look on his face might have amused her somewhat, if she was in one of those moods where things amused her. But as it was, she was in the middle of trying to eat and this troublesome teenager was invading her space and looking at her like she had two heads. Amusing, but at some other time. "You should be," she noted with the same calm, yet sly demeanor. "I wouldn't say that to just anyone. Only the ones that get in my way of me eating dinner to.. chat me up." That time the corner of her mouth turned up just slightly.

Not a lot of people had the gumption to come and bug her, even when they didn't know her from adam. She just gave off one of those 'don't come near me' vibes, plus there was always that heat that was radiating from her, though it was possible he wasn't close enough to feel it. The fact that he put out the cigarette seemed to please her.

Sitting back in her chair, her eyes narrowed. "Comparing me to a human is as bad as sitting in a chair and annoying me with a cigarette. A pyromanic, please. Maybe next time, you'll listen." After all, he kind of asked for it, toying with her, annoying her and just by his demeanor. So she did just what she said she'd do, with a bare flex of her hand, she used her power to take the fire and increase it ten fold until the fluid in the base of the lighter ignited and exploded in his hand.

She could care less about what the other people around them did or thought.

There were so many fire this's and fire that's Sinclair was unsure of what this woman was. He knew of fire elementals but he wasn't sure how powerful their fire seemed to be outside their form. Being a human torch (though of course anything but human) without feeling the burn seemed quite appealing to him. He had no idea. Once again, it must have been his morbid side tapping into the depths of his mind. Actually, it wasn't very deep at all.

It was was rather funny that he was thinking this all in the course of being surprised when she was showing him what was what.

Sinclair had to move the front half of his body far back enough that he almost fell from his chair. The lighter, or what was left of it was dancing in his hands like a hot potato. A rather nasty slew of curse words fell from his mouth before he got the remains of the lighter to fall to the floor where it sizzled. If people weren't staring before, they would be mad not to be staring now.

Though nothing but a small chip was on the ground, a rather large burn mark on Sinclair's hand remained. There were quite a few rather nasty words reeling his his head. But instead of saying them, he only got out. "Well...some party trick."

Eying him a bit precariously, waiting for him to drop the lighter before she got a chance to light it or something, but when it actually exploded in his hand and he yelped, she almost laughed. Almost. But that would be like rubbing salt into the wound, and though she was cruel, she wasn't that cruel. Besides, she wasn't as amused as just glad that she had made her point. At least she hoped she made her point, because if that hadn't worked, she didn't know what would.

However she didn't move out of her chair, instead she went back to eating, watching as he almost fell back. And hey, if he had actually fallen over, she might have helped him up too. But he didn't, and so she continued to eat, and when he sat back up she just looked at him. She shook her head a little. "It's not a trick. It's just me. And you asked for it." Because he had asked for it, rather plainly, just not in actual words.

If she were a generous person she would have offered to get his hand healed or something like that, but she wasn't. It was kind of sad because he hadn't actually blown smoke in her face or anything. "You should probably get that looked at," she said neutrally, glancing down at his hand and then back up at him. "And I wouldn't go around daring people when you don't want to know the consequences."

And just because she was nearly done eating her food, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her own cigarettes and lit one up. Fun.

What. A. Bitch. Of course, he would have dared himself to say that out loud but she was right in saying that he should think about the consequences. She wasn't just a bitch, she was something different. Fire Mage? He didn't think so. He saw one about the town and he really couldn't do what she just did. "So. What the hell are you?" He didn't ask in a friendly way. It was bitchy and annoyed that she was sitting there smoking a cigarette when he thought she was some "oh no you didn't" kind of person when it came to the habit.

"Elemental? But then I don't see you on the leash of your master." He knew that much about the work of alchemist and their elementals. Praise the library he guessed.

Sinclair looked at his hand and crossed his arms stubbornly. "It will heal fast enough." Though he wasn't superhuman, he did heal faster than the plain Janes running around. His opposite should be glad he was only a Dhamphir. If he was a vampire he would have been plotting to bite her already.

He really wanted to know what she was, and she was having half a mind not to tell him at all. Out of principal, or just to be mean. There was that, and the fact that if she let the secret go, he might be one of those types to try and use it against her. If he knew what was good for him, he wouldn't but in a way she sort of liked the challenge. The fact that she'd annoyed him so much already was like music to her ears. She certainly didn't want to give him a reason to .. flip out, as they say.

"No, not an elemental. I'm an ifrit." Though if he didn't know what that was, she wouldn't be surprised. Not many made the connection between ifrit and the djinn, or knew that it was a type of djinn. My he was grumpy. She would have smiled then if she wasn't busy smoking her cigarette.

"Such anger, I find that curious," she said as she put out her cigarette. "Do you always rile up so easily?"

"An Ifrit? You know." He probably was digging his own grave by saying this, but it was fun having a rather snarky conversation with this woman. The bitch did burn him. She was a rather interesting bitch that would make him laugh. "I had this one guy in my school who was rather into video games and in this one role playing game there were these beastly man monsters that would do these fire summoning powers. Pretty strong if you so called "levelled" them up. It, or they was called Ifrit or Ifrits. Very angry summon monsters that share a common name with you. What do you know?"

He gave a shrug of the shoulders. "I have no idea what the other half of you is. The Ifrit thing is entertaining enough." He stated with an ever so large smirk. He figured if she was smoking, he was entitled to as well. Just the smell of a cigarette drove him to want to smoke. Sinclair was a hard core chain smoker. Since he had a back up lighter, he lit up and quickly put the lighter away.

The Dhamphir gave a not so amused glance at her when she asked how his temper worked. "Only when I get burned. Or when I haven't smoked in awhile. The rest is up to you to decide. And ohh, am I going to get an answer as to why you're so bitchy?"

He waited a moment to blow out a cloud of smoke. "In case this is my last breath. The name is Sinclair. I hope you have it in you to at least tell me your name."

If he was expecting some kind of annoyed reaction at the fact that he was comparing her to some video game beasts, then he would be disappointed. Actually it was kind of amusing what humans thought of her kind. "Lots of people have different opinions on what an ifrit is, but we're djinn.. or as you human types call it," because yes she pretty much regarded everyone who wasn't like her as a human, "Genie's, but that's as contemptuous as the video game characters your little friend played. I just happen to be the type of djinn called an ifrit, though at least they got the fire part right. The other types are water based."

She figured she might as well give him a lesson if she was going to be stuck with him smoking. Now that she was smoking, she didn't seem to mind if he did either. Exhaling a bit of smoke, she just smiled at him. "Why? It's in my nature." Was all that she said.

"Plus I just don't like people. You can call me Jordan if you wish, though that's not my real name." Her real name was too hard for most people to pronounce. See? She wasn't THAT bad. Mostly.

Sinclair looked at the woman for a moment before he laughed. "So, do I get three wishes? Or is someone already confining you to a lamp and this is your free time? I'm glad though the blue flesh is gone. That was rather tacky. You don't sing and dance do you? Though you don't seem the type I sort of think you're full of surprises at the same time." This took a whole new turn of what he discovered. In truth, Sinclair secretly thought it was quite the ability.

The Dhamphir chuckled at her blunt explanation on her not liking people. But at least he got out her name. "I don't like them either." He decided to try and rephrase that. "Or I'm sort of not good with them." He was social awkward in all sorts of ways. Not introverted, just..weird. "Either way I couldn't give a damn what happened to people."

"Okay Jordan. Nice to meet you. I'm Sinclair. Now, you know I am going to ask you what your real name is since you brought it up."

That's what she was waiting for. All the stupid asinine jokes that went with her species because of things they didn't understand. She just stared at him until he was really done with his tirade. "Got it out of your system yet? When you actually want to behave like a proper person, then you can ask me about my species but until then, kindly shut the fuck up." Then she blew some smoke in his general direction. Well, at least she hadn't hit him for it, which she thought about, just briefly.

She regarded him a bit, with a tilt of her head before flicking her ashes into whatever she'd been drinking. "That's a good way of putting it. I'm not good with them either." Honestly she didn't like them much, but that was because she just didn't know what to do with people. They behaved oddly, in ways she didn't understand.

Pointing the cigarette in his general direction, she thought about bringing up the fact that he already told her what his name was, but refrained. Instead, she simply said, "Anerael." Or something close to it, but it was hardly pronounceable, or probably not with the way she was saying it.

"Yeah, I swear. I got it all out. You know when someone says something and you just can't help but to go on and on? It's like that. I was on a lame joke high and I am so sorry." Of course, he kind of wasn't, but he didn't want to get his ass kicked. He should learn respect too since he was a species who was tormented for how he looked and shit. But at the same time, she didn't have fangs. Well, from what he saw. She should though, it would be the icing on the cake on how intimidating she could be.

Maybe it was the fact that he feared for another burn mark that he forgot that he addressed his name already. Maybe he just liked his name. Hell, he didn't know. It was probably close to him liking to state his name.

"An-e-r-screw it. It's a cool name though. I'll give it that. I can see why you're other name does people much more good."

Since he seemed to be out of smart remarks, she relaxed a bit. It would be easier to let things slide when she wasn't all.. grumpy. Well she still was, she always was but it wasn't as visible now that he'd started to act like a respectable person. "It's all right, curiosity is both the best of things and the worst of things all wrapped up into one," she noted with a wave of her hand, letting the smoke trail around in little patterns as she spoke.

And at least she was pretty forgiving, as long as they said they were sorry. She was much less likely to injure him any further. In fact she wasn't thinking about hurting him at all. At least he learned his lesson. Though she was still on her guard. It was like being around a sleeping dragon, or some other kind of nonsense.

She took another drag off of her cigarette and then tossed the rest into her drink. "I thought about letting people squirm, but it just got annoying and wasted ten minutes of my time when people tried to figure out how it was pronounced."
