Who: Marcus and Alana
When: Evening
Where: The Wine Bar
What: Meeting someone new at a place he's not used to

Marcus wasn't really the Wine Bar type of person, but curiosity did tend to whisper in his ear now and again. He felt kind of like the uncool kid in class that never did anything adventurous since he was pretty sure everyone and their child over the age of nineteen had been to the Wine Bar.

It was smokey inside, the overall appeal just as he thought. It was totally not for him. The Restaurant was more his gig. But instead of leaving he slowly made way through the various tables and sat at the bar. He honestly wasn't a big drinker, for a long time he tried to see the appeal and to this day he didn't see it.

Staring at the various designs on the wall, the Naga waited for someone to come his way so he could ask for something not entirely dorky to drink. People asked for just plain soda..

Didn't they?

Alana silently thought about punching the man three people down from the stranger who just sat down. He couldn't wait thirty seconds for a new drink that would most likely end up in the Wine Bar's bathroom floor he was so wasted. He was loud, obnoxious and every word that came out of his mouth was viciously rude. Envisioning things of great violence was a wonderful thing. But she wasn't one to act on it.

The stranger who sat with the others at the bar stuck out like a sore thumb and it made her smile widely. Alana asked another bar tender to tend to the jack ass while she moved on over to the young man. "I'm guessing you're not going to order a vodka tonic and lime." She teased. The tone was nothing but friendly.

"People come here to relax." Her eyes wondered to the not so friendly gentleman. "No matter how unfriendly. But what will it be?"

She seemed nice. Not like one of those bitchy uber scary looking females in the movies. In this case it was easy to look at the female without stuttering slightly. He was still very embarrassed, but it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Leaning in, he made his request like it was top secret. "Do you just have like Coke or whatever? You know without anything that has alcohol? Not a big fan."

He simply was also a light weight. He remembered one time he got drunk (and he seriously believed it was his only time) it took like one and a half beers to have him flying. In a place like this? No thanks.

"I mean, I know it's a weird request for a place like this. But I figured it's a little too cold to go to the Tiki Hut." There, sadly he wouldn't feel as weird though.

“You’d be surprised what this place has.” Alana replied with a laugh. “Besides, how do you think they make a rum and coke.” She teased, only in a sense to get him to lighten up. “If it makes you feel any better, someone came in here the other day and ordered a glass of milk. That’s something I haven't heard before. But I’ve been asked for orange juice without the vodka, cranberry juice, grape juice, that sort of stuff. So asking for soda is hardly a crime. You don’t need to visit this place just to get drunk. There sometimes is entertainment.” She tapped on the table with both of her hands. “Soda, comin’ right up.” The kid seemed like a sweetheart.

After pouring him a nice big glass, she slid it in front of him. “I hear you about the Tiki Hut. I can’t wait until it gets warmer. It seems like such a fun place to be at when the time is right.” People were tame for the moment so she sighed and rested a bit on the counter. She felt weird just standing near a stranger for a few moments in silence. Giving a soft smile, Alana began to move away.

“Let me know if you need anything.”

Marcus would have just stayed silent with his giant glass of soda but when he put his elbows on the bar to make himself more comfortable, he noticed a tattoo on one of her wrists. "Pegasus huh?" He thought he saw one flying through the air when he woke up in the morning, but he told himself he was seeing things. Then again, when you can turn into a giant snake, it's hard not believe there were some winged horses stowed away at the stables.

"I always thought celtic tattoos were the best kind of tattoos. I don't know why, but they beat out tribal tattoos and those really ugly tattoos of flames on the arms." It wasn't like they looked horrible on everyone, just maybe about eighty percent of the population. Maybe it just was the stereotype of it all.

"Maybe it's just because there is more than just the marking on the skin behind them." He realized he was just babbling on about something perhaps personal, so he just tended to his drink.

The minute Alana heard the word Pegasus, she near lit up. She turned towards him slowly and gave him a bright smile. "Yeah. My whole body is like an ode to the species. I thought that when I was a girl I would grow out of the phase, but I guess I was sadly mistaken." She ran a hand through her hair with a sheepish grin and gave out sigh. "There is just something about them. I love Folklore, I love things that don't exist...well..didn't."

She didn't know why she was being so open to the stranger, but he seemed like someone who really might be able to relate. Not to mention he was harmless and he was the one who asked about the tattoo. "I still am in shock you know? All the species here? I see the faes and I guess I tell myself they aren't real. It's too fiction to be real. The Elves? I thought Lord of the Rings was the closest I would get to them."

She could go on for forever. "When I first encountered a Pegasus, I froze. I thought I was on drugs. But then slowly, I pet it and I just spent time with the animal. I can finally live my childhood dream of riding on a Pegasus. But I refuse to because it means that they are real and it means that my childhood joy and thrill with disappear once that animal leaves the ground."

Marcus could have gone nuts about the realms of Folklore. He truly loved the tales of the species that he thought were fictional. He was a harder person to persuade about not believing in things that of supernatural. When one can become a snake then get dressed, go outside and have a conversation it's hard to believe that there are not Elves, faes and Therianthropes out there.

"I can understand the shock. The most important thing was wanting to be safe and here we got a big surprise." He studied her for a moment, studied how she carefully explained how she didn't think the species around her existed. He speculated that people who were of other species wouldn't be as surprised. "Are." Hm, how could he word this? "What species are you?"

The Naga made a small "ahh" noise when it came to Alana not wanting to ruin the final experience. "I think that everyone here might want one precious thing to always have in mind. I guess yours is not letting yourself actually take that magic ride, huh? Which is weird since I would probably be seen riding across the sky every other day." He took a small sip of his drink. "That's just me. I tend to get over excited about things. It's good to cherish this moment bit by bit."

He gave an embarrassed laugh before he offered his hand. He felt it was maybe weird in a bar setting. "Marcus. I figured..you know. Maybe exchanging names would be nice."

There were two things that described this boy so far. One was that he was so adorable. He was so harmless and he tried very hard not to offend anyone. Second was that he was very smart. But he did it carefully. He didn't like to overpower people with his knowledge but Alana sensed he was highly intelligent. Maybe she was profiling him wrong, but oh well. It was her own little brain.

"I'm just a plain jane human." She gave somewhat of a saddened sigh. "I always wished I was something more you know?" Not that she needed to be some fire mage or be able to fly. She just wanted to be considered worth something more. "What about you? You seem fairly.." She trailed off, not wanting to be offensive or anything of the sort.

Alana could understand the man wanting to be someone more ambitious with the Pegasus. To each their own. She should be more like him. The whole point was to follow ones dream.

"Oh." She gave a laugh. It was funny how much they shared but they hadn't even shared their names. "My name is Alana. It's nice to meet you Marcus."

Marcus somewhat fondly smiled at Alana when she said she was just a "plain jane" human. "You know, there are species that probably would give anything to be human. I mean some species live for several human lifetimes and maybe they grow tired. Some species might not like their appearance so much that their abilities are far more of a downside over an upside." He knew that all too well. "Being human is just as good as anything else. Especially if you have talents and you use them." Marcus shook his head. "Sorry. I talk too much sometimes."

The Naga was unsure if she noticed the scales on his body and that's why she asked what he was. Sometimes he didn't like to answer, but in this woman's case he knew she was friendly. "I'm basically a large snake capable of shifting into a human. On the plus side I don't bite and I really actually like being human more than a Naga at times. At home it depends. I guess it's because when you're a giant snake these days you don't know what can happen to you. Not everyone likes snakes you know." He guessed it was somewhat of a lame joke.

Marcus waited for a moment before a random question arose. "So uh-Ho-How did you get here?"

"You don't talk too much at all." Alana assured. "You are very friendly and honestly it's been rare these days. In fact he seemed to have information and advice that made Alana feel useful and better about herself. "I guess I have some cool abilities up my sleeves." She said teasingly before she set her hands in her pockets. There was silence for a moment when Alana waited for Marcus to tell her "what" he was since she guessed he was something other than human because he seemed to almost idolize humans.

She gave a surprised glance, then the shock went away. "I love snakes. I think that it's awesome. If someone tries to attack you, you should bite them." She advised. There was joking involved, but she was also very serious.

When Marcus asked how Alana got here, her tone seemed to change. She tapped on the bar table and smiled. "I better get going. I'll see you soon okay?" She smiled before she went to "take five."
