Who: Katy and Jake
When: closer to mid afternoon, after being released from the medical pavilion.
Where: Around the town cottages
What: exploring the winter wonderland that is Elysium.

Katy walked out into the snow and shivered. When the nightmare of Christmas was finally over and they allowed her to leave the medical pavilion, she promptly went home and bundled up in her warmest coat. She was covered in a thick jacket, leather gloves, and a woolen hat, a different less flashy one since her meeting with Douglas, over her head pulled down over her ears to keep them warm. It had been snowing pretty much all week and had left Elysium looking like a winter wonderland. Katy remembered the first time she saw snow as a teenager in Colorado. She had been excited enough to run out into the fresh powder barefoot. That had been mistake she had not wanted to repeat, but turning into a werewolf on Christmas Eve and waking up in a snowdrift completely naked seemed to have similar notes as to her childhood activitiy, except she had no control over the event. She looke down at her shoes. She was currently wearing some thick soled boots that would protect her feet now at least.

Katy sneezed into her sleeve and rubbed her reddened nose. She hoped she wasn't coming down with a cold.

Snow flurries were still fluttering down from the roof of her cottage as Katy reached down and picked up ball of snow. She patted it compact in her hands and looked around. There weren’t many people outside in front of the cottages. There were abandoned snowmen and intentions in the snow that looked like someone was trying to make a snow angel. She suspected that many of the kids had a moved on to find a hill where they could sled down, or to play with whatever toys their parents had been able to fashion for them. She could still hear the squeals of excitement that were obviously coming from a distance away.

That sounded pretty fun actually.

Katy made her way through the trees watching her breath crystallize into visible moisture. It almost looked like she was smoking without an actual cigarette. She nearly stumbled over a snow drift because she was not paying attention when she came across the pond. Most of it looked frozen over. She looked around and wondered if anyone had tested this part of the pond yet. They had the man-made ice rink in town, but Katy didn't really want to fall on her butt with the whole population of Elysium watching. She picked up a heavy stick and started to poke at the iced over water before she decided to brave putting a foot on the frozen pond.

Jake thought the werewolf thing was pretty badass. I mean, he thought of it this way. Yeah, it hurt like hell. But what a personality trait. It wasn't everyday that you could add "Oh hey, yeah back the hell up, because this night I am going to turn into a werewolf. On the plus side, I'm not pmsing." Besides, the women he knew were always complaining about not being respected. So? Become a werewolf. It was pretty damn frightening to hear those noises ring through the air.

He hated being a Siren. Even in the winter he found the water captured in its ice form extremely beautiful. Deep within himself he thought that was the gayest thing ever, but he saw himself admiring the a watery area and the pretty lady that was exploring it. He could understand that everyone was curious in seeing the various watery areas in the winter. But falling through the ice? Not such a fun idea. But, he could be wrong. The weather was cold enough to permit people on the otherwise fragile premise.

"Excuse me." He somewhat popped his head in font of her. "Are you wishing for hypothermia this Christmas?" He gave her a bit of a cozy smile. "Just be careful. Don't want someone here actually dying of a natural death."

Katy stopped what she was doing and looked up in the direction from where the voice came from. She was a little surprised that she hadn't even noticed his presence before this, and was slightly annoyed with herself for jumping a little when he first spoke. She sniffed a little. How had she not caught his sent? Maybe she really was getting sick. She hadn't been sick in a long time, certainly since she was turned. She wondered what exactly she was immune to.

Realizing that she was frowning, Katy put a smile on her face and decided to forget about her current train of thought for now, she'd probably get over it quickly anyways. "Oh, hi there. Well, I don't recall asking Santa for hypothermia, but you gotta admit it would be a lot more creative that slipping coal in my stocking."

She stepped out on the slippery ice and wobbled for a second before catching her balance. "I wouldn't worry about me. I'm pretty careful, I wish I had my ice skates with me, but they are back at home..."

Katy had a wistful look and sighed a little at the thought of home. She wondered if her father and brother were sitting by the fire drinking eggnog laced with whiskey. She still maintained that in her mind at least both of them were safe and that the ranch they called home had escaped any real danger.

"I'm Katy Wilson. What's your name?" She grinned and laughed a little. "You know it always feels like the first day of school having to introduce myself to everyone I meet around here. I really must learn to be more social."

"Well come on now, a little bit of black lung never hurt anyone. Besides, nothing like the smell of coal in the morning." Boy, was he ever familiar with coal. Deadwood was like coals bitch. Nestled in fireplaces it seeped into the lungs of the assholish people around him. God bless their dead souls.

Jake tried to aid in helping her catch her balance, but it seemed like that technique in trying to catch this chick for hitting on her wouldn't work. She was pretty good on her feet. He'd figure something out. There was many chancea she could come close to falling on her ass and he was good with his reflexes. Sad he was hoping for her to almost slip, but hey..It's better than trying to impress a girl at a bar.

The Siren gave out his hand while introducing himself. The gal was nice so giving out his hand seemed like a nice method. "Names Jake Moyer. Just call my Jake for short. I hear you with the school shit. I almost feel like I even need to wear a name tag or something. Though annoying, I feel like it would make life easier."

He glanced down at both of their shoe covered feet. "It is indeed a shame we don't have ice skates, but maybe we can entertain ourselves by either sliding around without skates, or occupying ourselves with something far less dangerous."

As soon as she found her balance, Katy put her hands on her hips and looked at Jake curiously. He probably had the worst potty she had noticed so far out of all the people she had met in this place. She laughed at little as he spoke of the smell of coal in the morning. "Oh yeah? I guess I wouldn't know. Never smelled it, but if it's too strong, I probably wouldn't like it." She placed a finger on her nose. "I have a pretty sensitive sense of smell."

Katy held on to his hand and pulled him out onto the ice with her with relative ease. "It's nice to meet you Jake. So what brings you out on Christmas Day? Enjoying a walk in the snow?"

She wondered about whether name tags would actually be effective, and then shook her head and laughed. "I'm not sure I would be comfortable with everyone knowing my name just by looking at my chest."

"Less dangerous? What exactly did you have in mind?" She started to let go of his hand and take a step away, when the foot that was supposed to be stable and hold her up, hydroplaned and caused her to start falling backward. So much for being graceful. She shut her eyes as she prepared to fall hard on her butt and her arms flailed out trying to grasp on to anything that would prevent her from continuing to plummet onto the ice.

"Oh yeah?" The Siren tilted his head. He knew this girl was different. Hell, everyone in this freakish wonderland was different. The faes had the Cullen disease (only way better, what a gay vampire.) The Elves were like Lord of the Rings amped up and there was all sorts of cool shit hanging around. "Where are you from? Well Where were you from? You know, before the shit storm decided to send us to this here twinkle-verse." He waited a second before he continued. "I'm originally from Deadwood, South Dakota." He thought that sounded pretty badass. There was a Tv series and all. Plus, Clint Eastwood was a good poster boy.

"Then I moved to Oregon." He was curious about the whole smell thing. "....why? And boy do I feel bad for you. If you have a run in with dog shit, that must be hell." Color him all sorts of amused. "Me? Hell, I'm just bored. Christmas really doesn't do anything for me." Her chest did though, but he kept quiet about that.

Now that was what he was talking about. Not to nice to hope for a hot chick to fall, but to catch her? Score. Giving her a smug smile after catching her by her back with one hand and by an arm with the other he coughed. "Your smell might be on the spidey sense side, but you sure are clumsy." He shook his head while he slowly let her go. "I like it. Graceful girls are underrated."

"Well, I was born in San Diego, but we moved when I was fourteen to Colorado." Katy couldn't help but tilt her head at the thought of this place being a "Twinkle-verse" as he put it. Katy had been living like a gypsy the last couple of years, hoping from one country to the next, her passport was full of stamps, but she had never really gotten the chance to visit most of America. "Deadwood huh? What was that like?"

She shrugged. "Surprisingly that doesn't bother me much, or maybe not so surprisingly. I am a werewolf. I'm 25, although I've been told I look around 20ish. I was turned when I was 17."

"Natural smells don't really affect me that much, but unnatural things and toxic smells irritate my nose."

As he caught her, her arms grabbed on to the one he caught her with. She looked up at him and was about to thank him until he called her clumsy. "You didn't just call me clumsy for slipping on ice, did you? On ground I'm as graceful as anyone." She pulled herself back up and held on to his arm for support. "And I think you mean, overrated." She just grinned at him. She could easily tell that he was interested in her thanks to the lycan curse, not that he really seemed to try to hide it from her.

"So you think sliding on the ice is dangerous? What should we do instead then?" It was Christmas and she had no family to spend it with. Jake seemed to be a pretty amusing guy, despite his potty mouth. She could over look that though.

"Deadwood..was..well Dead. Not that many people lived there and much of the place was based on personal business for us. We owned a mechanic shop and that was where our main income came in. Also, since the place was a huge tourist spot, I made weapons. Fake and real. Winchesters were the big hits. Got to love the classics." He could talk about guns all day. It was almost better than sex. "If you're talking about the general feel..it was quiet, sometimes eerie. The population was barely over 1, 300. People minded their own business."

Werewolf huh? God he felt weird saying that was sexy, but it was. A girl going all hot and fury on the full moon? Okay well he didn't like hairy girls, but still. Were-girls sounded pretty sexy. Jake was almost sure he had a porno that sounded familiar. "That has to be pretty intense. You know, being a werewolf and all?" He coughed, looking away a little. "I'm..a..Siren. You know, been this way my entire life." Sadly.

Jake gave a rather cheeky expression to Katy's accusation. "And what if I did call you clumsy? You going to bite me?" From what he gathered, Siren's were safe from Werewolves. Biting was hot though.

"Where are you up for? I know there is an actual place for skating, but you know. I've already had a sneak preview of what a mess you might be." He continued to tease. It was one thing to be good looking, but she was also sweet and down to earth. He liked that.

Katy had never really liked small towns all that much. Not even the one her father had moved their family to. She hadn't felt excepted and had missed the busier feeling in San Diego, not to mention the weather. In her opinion they were nice places to visit, but she didn't want to live there.

"Winchesters? That's pretty awesome. I've never really been all that good at making things by hand."

She nodded. "You could say that." She grinned at him. "I just turned last night." She shrugged. "It still hurts like crazy, but I guess I'll eventually get used to it." She watched as he turned his face away from her as he admitted what he was. She walked around so that she could see him again. "A siren? I've never met a siren before. Does that mean you have a good singing voice?"

Honestly she had never really met any other preternatural before, excluding the two she met right after she was turned. She had no idea what to expect from some of them, and was incredibly curious as to their abilities and the extent of their powers.

She raised and eyebrow at him and grinned. "You don't have to worry about my bite being bigger than my bark when I'm human. You just might want to be careful around me when I'm in my werewolf form."

"I can't believe you." She shook her head at him, she was still smiling though. She pointed a finger at his chest and poked him. "I am not clumsy. Am I going to have to prove it to you?"

A good singer? Well, he guessed so if people were all into his voice when he did the whole carrying a tone thing." You ever seen little mermaid?" He rubbed the back of his neck to try and hide the embarrassment. "Well, I think there is this part in the movie where the hot mermaid uses her voice to get the prince to come to her. That's what we do. We can entrance people or get people to do as we wish by singing it." He stated. "Not as cool as you know, having extra cool strength or x ray beams, but meh. I've gotten some awesome free concert tickets and things." He may have scored some chicks as well, but that was besides the point.

He raised a brow in interest about Katy's bite. "Be careful, I like where this conversation is going." He warned her. It made it worse when she was bantering with him about him teasing her. Poking her back lightly, he gave her a challenging smile. "Well you know. I'm not convinced. So I sense proving is needed."

Katy listened to him compare himself to the Disney movie and smiled. She could tell he was getting a little embarrassed by the way he rubbed the back of his neck and looked slightly uncomfortable. "I remember that movie." She looked thoughtful and placed a gloved finger on her chin. "I seem to recall the evil witch stealing Ariel's voice to entrance the prince into falling in love with the wrong woman." She eyed him, wondering if concert tickets really were the only things he used his 'powers of suggestion' for.

"So you powers are like that? That sounds like some pretty powerful stuff to me."

She laughed. "Well it's a good thing you won't be around me while I'm a werewolf. I don't know if the virus can spread to anyone not human, but I'm actually pretty dangerous if I can't keep control of the situation." She grinned at him. "Not to say I'm not dangerous as a human though. You should probably be afraid of me."

There was a look of mock shock on her face and she humphed and placed her hands on her hips. "I'll have you know that my mother was a champion ballroom dancer and I've had many years of dance training myself." She didn't feel like mentioning that was mostly when she was younger and that she probably hadn't actually done any ballet since she was in high school.

"Are you saying you're more graceful than me? I think you should show me some of your moves first." She moved her arms so they were crossed over her chest.

"Yeah. I mean, I could have robbed banks and shit I guess. Maybe even could have gotten a car for free. What I was always was afraid of was messing up in the middle of trying to get what I wanted using my I guess what you call abilities." Getting girls usually always worked unless he did something horrible like bring an idiotic friend or use a horrible pick up line. But there was a few times where he got in serious shit for not fully succeeding.

"But in school when I was teased, I used to get kids in deep trouble. Make them answer their big tests wrong, make them do stupid things like hit themselves in the head with a soccer ball. Good, fun high school crap. Mutual hell was what I called it."

Jake gave a mock expression of fear when Katy told him she was a werewolf. "Oh shit, it's Thriller come to life." He slightly laughed at his own joke. Come on, it was at least a little funny. "Luckily the barriers keep you guys from going nuts all over the place." He gave a sly grin. "I think you'd be a puppy dog. I'd be more afraid of you as a human than as a werewolf."

The Siren tried to cover up his laughter in his mouth, but eventually it just came out naturally. "So you have some twinkle toes, huh? I can't say I have the same. I'm the mechanic of sorts so my talent is in the hands. Best I can do is give you some jazz hands." He made quirky hand movements for a moment before he continued.

"Hell though. That's impressive. Technically, you have to show me since I have no talent. I could always try and make you show me." He wondered if it would work.

Katy scoffed slightly. "Rob banks? Wouldn't that make you a bad guy then?" She smiled at him and looked at him a little disbelievingly. "You don't seem like the kind of guy who would do something like that."

"Ah, being teased. That sucks. Kids can be cruel." She listened to him talk about his experiences in what she could only assume occurred in the public school system. She herself hadn't had it easy either. She had been known to dye her hair unnatural colors in middle school and high school much to the school board's dismay. It wasn't so much that she was a rebel, no that was her brother. It was more because she was looking for herself and just happened to be following her brother's lead as with most things in her life.

She sighed and cocked an eyebrow at the mention of Thriller. "Oh yeah? Are you comparing me to a zombie now? Or to Michal Jackson? Because I hardly look like the King of Pop." She tried her hand at the famous moonwalk, but on ice without skates Katy felt awkward and clumsy at it.

"Believe me Jake, my bite is much worse than my bark." She winked at him.

"Twinkle toes?" She laughed. "I never understood what that meant really. Are my toes supposed to sparkle or something?"

"Make me, huh?" Katy put her hands on her hips. It was hard for her to imagine anyone making her do something she didn't want to do. Even if she didn't mind doing the action, she was often hard-headed enough to not do it just to spite the other person. "Go ahead and try. I would like to see how your abilities work."
