Monday: December 24, 2007 Who: Zach and OPEN When: 4:00 PM Where: The Herbalist What: Browsing away the time 'til sundown . . .
Around 4:00 PM, the light was fading from the sky. The departure formed a vivid glow on the horizon, taking away what little warmth there was in the air. Zach didn't expect it to get so dark so soon, but during the wintertime the sun was funny like that. His destination was the herbalist shop, and it wasn’t too long of a walk to get there. His arrival was heralded by the bell near the inside of the doorway, sounding an announcement of the new presence in the shop. In comparison to a lot of the other places in town, this one was particularly small and had bottles and vials all over the place.
Zach could have easily mistaken this place for a glass shop if it weren’t for the substances clear inside many of the bottles. He didn’t often come here, not really thinking he needed anything from the herbalist. If he got sick, he knew to go to the medical pavilion. The herbalist was a shop full of things to get if you knew what you needed, and Zach usually never knew what it was he needed.
Today, however, was different. He needed something for Adrienne, something to heal with the healing process after the full moon. Adrienne was a bit bull-headed about getting help, if only because she always brought up how she could heal faster just due to being a werewolf. It wasn’t like she healed immediately, though, and Zach didn’t see anything wrong with giving her something right away to help with the pain or the cuts that came after a night of running through the forest as wolf-woman.
His eyes narrowed in on the various shelved articles. Fingers reached out, grazed a clear vial no larger than his index finger. It looked like little teeth or maybe miniature garlic cloves. He turned the vial around and spotted a label. “Coppsy Bells,” Zach read aloud. It sounds like a flower, he thought. Suddenly, his eyebrows drew together. “Teeth Regenerator?”
He would never stop being amazed at the things he discovered here.
