Friday: December 21, 2007 Who: Adam and OPEN When: 1:00 PM Where: The ice rink in the market place. What: Adam is trying out his hand at ice skating.
Despite living in Alaska for all of his life, Adam had never been ice skating. With the long, cold winters in his state, it seemed as if he would at least be familiar with the art of ice skating, but Adam was oblivious to it like he was with many other things. As he watched the people out there on the ice, he thought they looked like they were having a fun time. Adam cringed whenever he saw someone fall over or slip, colliding with the hard ice below. It looked painful. Since the elemental had never skated before, he idly wondered how easy it would be if he gave it a try.
Adam rarely thought in terms of something being too hard for him to do, so he was more likely to try it than to not try it. Finally, he mustered up enough curiosity to go and get some skates for his feet. Once he found the proper size, he slipped them on and tied them up. Then, quite suddenly, he wasn't sure what to do. Adam sat there for a long while, just sliding his feet across the ice in front of the bench. It was placed right beside the ice rink for beginners, so he was capable of just sitting down and moving his feet along without actually standing and doing anything.
Eventually, Adam took a deep breath and settled the blades of his skates against the ice at the same time. With one solid heft upward, he pushed himself to his feet. The balance the elemental had at first didn't last very long, as he found himself wobbling, and then, with the wrong move, Adam went crashing to the ground like he had seen a handful of people do before him.
His lower back hurt, and Adam wanted to rub it to make it feel better as he winced there on the ice. He pushed himself to a sitting position, sweeping his hair out of his face.
