Who: Zane and Theora
When: Evening
Where: Medical Pavilion / Lab
What: Discussing current research

There had been very little progress in the homicide investigation that the Head Council was conducting. The only witness to the crime had passed out before he could see anything, and the only thing that was left behind was a gold necklace. Several strands of blonde hair were caught in between the fine, gold weaving. It was their only clue, and while it didn't provide any immediate answers it was better than nothing.

The Head Council had employed the help of the medical staff at the pavilion. Their experience in biology and chemistry was the key to gleaning some information from those wayward strands of hair. It was a difficult endeavor especially since they lacked any equipment that could test and compare the DNA found in the hair. DNA was the only concrete thing they could count on.

But the medical team knew that without the necessary equipment they wouldn't be able to get any answers. They had to find other means, magical means, of extracting the information. They employed the help of a skilled witch, and even then it took them several weeks to find a solution.

"You have news, Doctor Smith?" Theora entered the lab with a tired smile on her face. She had done her best to keep up her spirits regarding the investigation, but with no definite leads it was beginning to look hopeless. The priestess was hoping that Zane had good news for her.

The psychokinetic smiled in return, and invited Theora to sit. "We have good news," he said. Though he had been working relentlessly on this project, he found the strength to sound cheerful. He really did have good news for the priestess, and that made all his sleepless nights worth while. "We studied the hair strands underneath our most powerful microscopes, and we found that the hair from the necklace was bleached. It doesn't belong to a natural blonde." Zane didn't think there were many people in the haven who bleached their hair, so that narrowed down the possible list of suspects significantly.

"Secondly, our witch has created a potion that will allow us to compare the strands found on the necklace to those of the suspects." Zane felt particularly proud of this since they had all worked very hard to find the right potion. A combination of science and magic went into it, and in the end they found a way that really worked.

A smile formed across Theora's face. "That is wonderful news," she said. The priestess was definitely in much better mood than what she was when she first came to the lab. "I will inform the rest of the Council of this immediately, and we can proceed with the investigation." She rose to her feet, and bowed to the doctor. "Thank you, thank you very much. Please extend our gratitude to the rest of the team."

Zane bowed in return, and nodded. "I will. We're just glad to help."

They were indeed one step closer to finding the identity of the killer, and bringing peace of mind back to the citizens of Elysium.
