Who: Adam and Sanura
When: Early Afternoon
Where: The stables and Silmé Lagoon.
What: Pegasus riding to the lagoon, where they act like children and splash around in the water. ;P
Spending some time with Theora helped to enliven Adam's spirits once more, and today he was the picturesque face of happiness as he led one of the pegasi from the stables. He petted the pegasus's mane, brushing his hand over the coarse hair and grinning at the animal. "Let's go for a flight today," Adam mused out loud as he walked. "I bet you never get to fly as much as you want. You and me can take to the skies and soar high above Elysium!"
Riding pegasi always held more dangers to it than riding a normal horse, as there wasn't anything holding you down onto the animal. If it swerved too much only once, it would easy to fall off and go tumbling towards the ground. Pegasi were loyal and careful creatures, though, and knew how to protect their riders best. Accidents were minimal if they ever happened, and they normally only happened in times of war if the pegasus was stolen and mistreated by its new owners. Adam had read that up somewhere in the library.
He came to a halt in the middle of the fenced in area, his hand holding the side of the pegasus's neck. There were no straps on the animal. Adam didn't need them, and he knew the animal wouldn't like them. As he gazed outward, his eyes caught sight of a familiar face. Adam's face burst into a grin, and he released the pegasus to rush towards the edge of the fence.
"Sanura!" Adam called, waving his hand frantically. "Hello! Sanura! It's me, Adam!" He nearly ran right into the fence, waving avidly in hopes to get her attention.
Sanura had this odd habit of visiting spots that held fond memories because she wanted to build new ones in Elysium and not live off the old memories of back home in South Africa. At least the ones that were too painful to think about when she was home alone in her cottage for long periods of time. The stables were perfect because of the unicorn Adrienne and her saw. Even though the gnomes kicked her and the werewolf's ass, the moment after was so stunning she could almost hardly believe it was real.
Unbelievably, for a long time, its hooves tracks were still detectible in the ground for many weeks and she just wanted to see if they were still there. Many people must have thought they were just regular random horse tracks but they were far more than that.
The therianthrope smiled brightly at the light marks still remaining where the unicorn once was. Of course rain, other tracks and growing dirtied grass was tainting the tracks and it saddened her a bit. But she was mostly happy thinking about the event that took place. It was in her moment of happiness when she heard a voice that made her day feel become even better.
"Adam?" His voice was unmistakable. Now it came to turning to where he was. When she saw him she began to run towards him (of course, trying not to fall) and stopped at the other side of the fence.
"Adam!" Sanura never took the time to think that fences were..meant to open and began to climb it. "I haven't seen you in..well..forever!" She figured since she was already half way over the fence, she may as well crawl over. "Where have you been!?" Amazingly enough she made it to the other side without nearly killing herself. Dusting her hands off, she looked back then returned her gaze towards him.
"You're okay! The last time we talked you were going away." She felt that sense of shyness return to her like when she first met him and a blush came to her face, but luckily she had hair to cover up the slightly pink complexion to her cheeks.
Adam beamed in her direction as she hurried over to the stables. When Sanura tried to climb over the fence, Adam lent her a hand to help her and make sure she didn't hurt herself as she climbed over it. He didn't think about how fences could open either just then, only about how happy he was to see her. Once she was safe on the other side, he immediately went to answering her question.
A shy expression overcame his face as he thought about where he had been all of this time. "Things haven't been very easy for me lately," he said, "so I'd been taking some time off for myself. I feel better now, though." Adam offered a smile for Sanura, not wanting her to worry about him. With Theora's help, he was past all of the things that were plaguing him once he realized it took his power to overcome them. "Solitude is not very fun," he added, his eyes widening in disbelief as he recalled how his time in solitude felt. "At least not when you're sad."
Had it really been that long since they had seen each other? Adam was surprised to learn it had been that long. "I hadn't realized it'd been so long since we talked," he said. "It feels like it was just yesterday," Adam added with a smile on his face. Time seemed to fly by lately, leaving Adam feel like he was far behind everyone else. Maybe time just felt different for an elemental.
"I'm okay, though!" he agreed, and Adam took her by the hand to lead her over to the pegasus he brought out from the stables. "I was going to go riding today. I wanted to ride a pegasus and fly to the edge of Elysium." He turned to look at Sanura, his hand still holding hers. "Would you like to come?"
Sanura admired the way Adam spoke. It was kind of like she was speaking to a grown child. She was aware of this when she first met him, but since it had been so long she had to remember this all over again. His behavior was right down to quickly picking himself up once a moment of sadness came over him. It made her somewhat sad, but she guessed it was a good thing to try and stay within light spirits.
"Yes, it has been so long since we have seen each other!" She was the type who liked to know everything when someone was gone, but with Adam she wouldn't pry. Plus she would be so confusing. Sometimes when she was so delighted to see someone and had a million questions, she could make someone's head spin almost literally. Was he really okay? Anyone could declare themselves as okay, but did Adam really know if he was okay?
"How is your..uhm." Did they call them mothers? Owners? She felt quite foolish now for starting the question. "You know, the woman who is like your mum?" She felt so stupid once it came out. The word for her escaped her mind and it was too late to fix it. "Is she well?"
The Therianthrope was quite flattered to be asked to join Adam on a Pegasus ride and she quickly accepted. "I'd love to." He heels rocked quite a bit when she accepted and it was then she wasn't so oblivious that she was holding Adam's hand. She looked down at their linked hands, but didn't separate them even with her flushing cheeks.
"Shall we?"
For the most part, Adam was in working condition once more. His experience might have awoken new things inside of him for him to deal with later, but they weren't there now and so they didn't matter. He smiled as Sanura mentioned Constance, noticing how she tripped over what to call his alchemist. "Constance," he said, reaffirming how he called Constance by her first name. "You can call her my alchemist. That's what I call her." While their relationship was very much like mother and son, Adam had never referred to Constance as his mother. She raised him as one, but he knew her simply as his alchemist. Titles weren't important to Adam, anyway.
"She's not doing so good," Adam admitted. "Not since . . . well, the murders. It's on everyone's minds, hers especially." It was part of her job to discover who did the crime and to bring them to justice, so in essence, it was a heavy weight on Constance's mind.
Adam was delighted to hear she wanted to join him, and he immediately nodded his head. "Yes!" he agreed in cheery spirits, letting go of her hand long enough to hurry off and retrieve another pegasus. He brought a second one out from the stables. "These two are very even-tempered, so we shouldn't have a problem riding them."
The elemental mounted his pegasus as if it were the easiest thing in the world, looking over at Sanura afterward as he waited for her to do the same.
Sanura looked at the Pegasus like it was a giant mountain. She could do this. She totally could. All she had to do was make conversation while she made a bloody fool out of herself. Elementals, god. What was wrong with them? They were like jumping on Pegasus' machines. He made it look like the Pegasus was only three inches in height.
"Uhnm." She grunted while making her first attempt to get on the animal. "It..must be very hard for your alchemist to have to go through what she does." Her feet hit the ground harshly when she landed, unable to get on the animal. She let out a frustrated breath, her hair blowing away from her face.
Next try, she at least got her leg up. "Did you know the two that passed away?" But when she landed from her failed outcome, she almost fell on her butt. "Kaiya or Faye? They were so nice. Well I knew Faye was, so Kaiya must have been."
Third time was really a charm, she got up and with a long breath she looked over to Adam. "There we are!" She let her foot tap the side of the Pegasus gently so it would move ahead of Adam. She craned her head back with a grin. "Come on slowpoke!"
"Do you need help?" Adam asked, worried that Sanura might not be able to get onto the pegasus. He didn't think it was an incorrect thing to ask or offer, since Adam preferred to help people in whatever matters they needed help with. Mounting pegasi were easy for Adam ever since he learned how to do the same with horses upon his arrival in Elysium. It was easy once he got the hang of it, though it had never been terribly hard.
"It is a tough job," Adam agreed, his voice soft. "I sit in on a lot of the meetings, and it isn't easy for any of them." Adam hadn't personally known either of the women who died, though; otherwise, he would be having much more trouble coping with the recent deaths. "No, I didn't know them. I heard of one of them by name before, but I never met her. I heard they were both sweet women, though." He was naturally sad at their passing, but it was easier for the elemental to cope with since he did not know them personally.
Adam grinned when she finally made it atop her pegasus. He ushered his to follow hers and hurry up beside Sanura's side. Adam turned to flash a grin at Sanura, and before she knew it, his pegasus began to run and took off into the air.
Sanura clutched tightly unto the reigns secured on the horse when the Pegasus lifted off from the ground. The initial feeling within her was fear, then her stomach fluttered with excitement before she felt a soothing calm come over her. The haven was beautiful from the ground site, but it was quite a site to see the scenery smooth by below her.
"This is incredible!" She yelled over to Adam, her hair blowing freely in the wind. Just like when she was with the unicorn, she felt like she was a child all over again. She would have spread out her hands to feel like a bird floating freely in the sky, but that might have been pushing her luck.
Adam laughed aloud at Sanura's yell above the wind. He made sure to steer the pegasus towards Silmé Lagoon, a place he hadn't visited for a long time. The scenery was beautiful as this height in the sky. Adam could see the mountains in the distance, streams below, and lush forests covering the land in patches like dark green blankets with occasional holes. Even the Ancient Elven Ruins were visible during their flight, and Adam grinned over at Sanura whenever he could. Talking, however, seemed a bit out of the question for a moment.
His pegasus rounded around Sanura's pegasus a few times, the creatures being heavily playful with each other, until they lowered to the ground as they neared the lagoon. Eventually, his pegasus landed gracefully upon its feet, and Adam dismounted the creature as he looked around happily at the lagoon. It looked much like a jungle to Adam, and he led his pegasus up to the nearest tree to tie the creature up.
"Would you like to go in the water?" Adam asked, once Sanura had dismounted her horse as well.
Now, dismounting was so much easier and Sanura looked a lot more graceful when she slid from the Pegasus and let it turn towards its flying mate to frolic around the lagoon while she stood next to Adam. "It's…It's not too cold?" She asked, feeling a little dumb. She loved to swim so she would dive in like a dolphin that hadn't been in true water for three years. But she wasn't sure of the water temperature.
"It's just that it's cold outside, but it's always pretty warm in the lagoons right?" She felt like a blonde right now, not that all blondes were ditzy, she just felt a blush rise in her cheeks since she felt pretty stupid. Suddenly, a thought came to her mind. She wondered how Adam would react to a childish prank such as a push into the lagoon. She scooted close to him and bent towards the water like she was trying to feel the temperature with her body instead of dipping a toe or a hand into the small depths of the water. With a tender bite of the lip, she made a heaving noise as she put all of her strength into pushing him into the water.
"I thought you could tell me how warm it was from in the water!" She said while laughing quite hysterically.
Adam shook his head in response. "Nope, not cold," he said. "The water's always warm here. All year around." Her cheeks turned red all of a sudden, and Adam grinned as he noticed it. "Your face is red," he teased, much like a six-year-old boy would say to another six-year-old girl on the playground at school. He nudged her with his elbow to show that he was teasing her, and perhaps his behavior resembled the behavior of children so much because children were honest and innocent, and so was Adam.
Sanura drew closer to the water, and Adam did as well. He kicked off his shoes and took off his socks, dipping one of his feet into the water. He grinned, balancing on one of his legs. "Very warm," Adam declared happily.
It was at that moment that Sanura suddenly shoved Adam into the water. The elemental collided into the warm lagoon face first, splashing water all over the place. He resurfaced a moment later, shaking the water out of his hair and spitting it out of his mouth. "Not fair!" Adam cried out, and before Sanura could run, he extended one of his arms as it turned into a long, thick vine the width of his natural arm and wound it around Sanura's leg.
Adam yanked the therianthrope into the water with him. His arm quickly retreated and went back to normal. He laughed hysterically, turning his head away from her loud splash into the lagoon.
Sanura covered her mouth and reached out a hand as if she wanted to help Adam when he fell face first, but she turned away laughing. At first it was a simple giggle but it only grew into hysterical laughter. "I am…so..so sorry..I didn't think you'd.." She was lost for words, she couldn't help but to laugh since the image just replayed over and over in her head. "Oh it's TOTALLY FAIR!" She declared back, happy that she could act like a child with Adam. It was a comforting feeling to say the least.
Sanura planned to bolt and jump on a rock where she figured she was out of reach for Adam. But when she felt a vine wrap around her leg she made a loud shrieking noise before she crashed into the water on her stomach. She sunk into the water for a moment, the water bubbling around her before she surfaced. She spit the water in her mouth in Adam's direction and splashed water at his face.
"HEY, NOW THAT WAS CHEATING!!" She swam after him, trying to keep up after pace and jumped on his back, trying to push him under the water.
"It was not cheating!" Adam exclaimed with a laugh, and he tried to swim away from her to prevent her from trying to get back at him somehow. Sanura knew what she wanted to do, though, and she jumped on his back, causing him to sink further into the water. Adam's arms flailed around as she hopped onto him, but his laughing hadn't ceased yet. "Oh my god, get off my back!" Adam said, sounding a lot like a child in that moment with his amused protests.
Suddenly, he sank under the water because of the extra weight and her pushing down on him, but he was able to push back up and get air again. "YOU'RE CHEATING!" Adam hollered, but he exerted his strength despite the surroundings, and fell over backwards in the water onto Sanura.
"Of course I am cheating! But I can't do some tricks with my hands and things, so the way I cheat is perfectly normal! You can't cheat unless you cheat in the ways that I cheat! You SO went beyond cheating!" Sanura stated with folded arms while she continued to push on Adam. Did she make sense? That was beside the point, she was a lightweight cheater.
When Adam fell onto her, color clung to her cheeks and she smile coyly, pausing playing around for a moment. "Adam.." She started shyly. She was like a first grader with the opposite sex at times, but maybe now was a goodtime to tell Adam that she liked him.
Instead she splashed water in his face and swam in the other direction.
"Catch me if you can!"
Sanura's speech didn't make much sense to Adam, but he didn't care. He was going to win this in his mind because he was good at winning a lot of things when it came to physical strength. Of course, the elemental also didn't think anything of falling over onto Sanura in the water since it wasn't a big deal to him and it didn't seem inappropriate in any way. He wasn't familiar with attraction like other people. He hadn't ever experienced it before, and he didn't know how to recognize it.
Besides, they were being playful. Adam wasn't going to read into it.
Her splash of water in his face caused Adam to recoil and try to shield himself. He cried out against her offense and swam after her in the water, laughing all the way. Maybe today she wouldn't tell him that she liked him, but that was okay. They could act like children for just one more day.
