Who: Chris and Hayate
When: Afternoon
Where: The Market Place
What: The perks of being obsessed over!

The young girl walked hand-in-hand with the vampire, their arms swinging in between their bodies. It wasn't the type of hand-holding that suggested otherwise, and anyone who saw them would think they were two friends spending time together. "I can't believe the harpies attacked the town yesterday!" Chris said in a very surprised voice. "Those things are nothing but trouble!" She exclaimed. "I'm glad lots of them got killed," she said, her eyes glancing around at the remaining feathers on the ground. They were still in the middle of cleaning up, but by the looks of it they were very nearly done. "At least you got my necklace back for me before they came here." Chris beamed at the vampire and hugged herself around his arm. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

They continued to walk through the market place, with Chris speaking randomly. "So like, Charlie met a centaur the other day named Zosimus, and I think he said he wanted me to meet him. He said he was really nice, and that they ran through the fields together and - oh! That looks good!" She said suddenly in the middle of her sentence. She had stopped in front of the candy shop, her eyes fixed on a lollipop in the window. Though everything in the sweets shop looked good, Chris had her eye on that particular piece of candy, though she didn't say so out loud.

Hayate had grown used to Chris's hand-holding whenever they walked somewhere together. The young girl was fond of simple physical contact, and Hayate could not say he minded the way her hand felt warm inside of his. In fact, he enjoyed the touch of her fingers laced within his own. He smiled down at her as she mentioned she was glad many of the harpies who had attacked the town yesterday were killed off; it was an odd thing for a person to smile about perhaps, but Hayate felt a sense of pride in Chris's exclamation of yesterday's events. Her arm wrapped itself around his and squeezed tight, and even then, his smile only grew into a grin and there was no trace of annoyance on his face or beneath the surface.

When the young girl suddenly paused in mid-sentence and turned to gaze wondrously into the window of The Sweet Shop, he too paused and turned toward the shop's window. Hayate's eyes glanced up to see the large, round lollipop made of an array of colors sitting in the display and knew immediately that was what had caught her eye. He looked down at Chris and tugged gently on her hand. "Come, let's go inside," he said to her as he leaned in to speak. Not a moment later, the two were walking into the candy shop.

Barely a minute had passed by when the duo emerged from the shop walking hand in hand, and in Chris's other hand lay the rainbow lollipop she had spotted in the window. It was now hers, courtesy of Hayate.

Chris licked her lollipop happily. It was so good - a burst of flavor hit her every time her tongue passed over it. "Ohmygosh, this is so yummy! Thank you! Do you want to try it?" She asked the vampire as she handed it over to him. Whether or not he would take it was up to him, but at that moment their feet had brought them to past the ceramics shop and toward the tailor's. "C'mon, you know you wanna try it!" She urged, until something in the window display for the shop caught her eye. "Awww, that dress is so cute! Don't you think so, Hayate?" She tugged on his arm and pointed at the dress in the window. She had momentarily forgotten about letting Hayate try the lollipop, and continued to lick at it herself as her eyes stared at the dress for a few moments.

Hayate's taste was not the same as hers, but a part of him did not want to deny her request outright in fear of hurting her feelings. After all, conceding to try the lollipop was a very modest request on her part. It was not as if a simple taste was a big deal to the vampire. At the same time, however, he knew he would not be able to detect the flavor of the candy as Chris could do; it was one of the small sacrifices that came with his kind. Yet even as his mouth opened to answer her, Chris once again noticed something in the window of a nearby shop that ensnared her attention and kept the girl's eyes captivated. Hayate glanced over to notice the pink dress in the window of the tailor's shop. She wanted that dress as well; her tone said it plainly enough.

As they emerged once more from another shop, Chris was grinning brightly as she exited the doors in her new pink dress with a matching pink coat to keep her warm in the face of the cold weather. Hayate and Chris continued to walk hand in hand as Chris yet again occupied herself with the lollipop in her free hand and Hayate looked for their next destination.

Chris really didn't want the dress, she only thought that it was pretty, but she certainly wasn't complaining now that she was wearing it while her other clothes were in a bag. She walked along happily with Hayate, arms still swinging in between them while her free hand held the bright, rainbow-colored lollipop. If she could skip along with the vampire, she would have been, but Hayate didn't seem the skipping type. There was a bright smile on her face, and she couldn't help but pull herself closer to the vampire's arm in an affectionate manner.

"Thank you for the dress," she said with a smile. "Do you really like it?" She asked, pulling away from him to twirl around a bit. It was mid-turn that she noticed something sparkling in the short distance ahead. She stopped and noticed someone walking toward them, someone holding onto a bright suncatcher that was dangling from a string. "Oh wow," she said elongating the 'wow'. Chris turned to Hayate. "I wonder where they got that from," she asked, pointing to the suncatcher in particular.

Though Hayate was not thinking about it, the young girl would be spoiled as a result of him. It was entirely possible the terrifying altercation from before would not be the only one the young girl would experience, but it would remain the only one for now. At the moment, he was lavishing her with gifts — with whatever she wanted that caught her eye. He would get it for her. "It's a beautiful dress," Hayate said, and a small smile marked his lips as she pulled away to twirl around and show off the gown she wore on her dainty frame. Again, the girl spotted something else glittering in the distance in another man's hand. Hayate looked up and saw the suncatcher, and he stepped ahead before her to briefly talk with the man, removing payment from his pocket in the form of silver.

Hayate came back to her, holding the suncatcher in one of his hands. He lifted it out to her, smiling at Chris as he handed over the glimmering object. "It's all yours," he said, waiting for her to take it.

Chris’s eyes widened as he handed her the glittering suncatcher. She couldn’t believe he just went up to the other person and ‘bought’ the suncatcher from him just for her. Chris squealed in delight as she took the string carefully. Even under the overcast sky the object shined brightly, catching whatever sunlight it could in its colored glass. “It’s so pretty,” she said to the vampire. “I’m going to hang it in my window at home, and every time I look at it, I’ll think of you.” She hugged him this time, happy that he had gotten it for her. Yes, he was spoiling her, but Chris was not about to complain in the least.
