Sunday: November 4, 2007
Who: Dominic & Daiyu
When: Late morning
Where: Library
What: Putting up campaign posters

Dominic was determined to win one of those Vice-Council seats. It was important to him and to the future of Helicharis as a whole. He knew he could make a difference if only he had some power, little as it may have been. The first step, however, was to get his name out there. Let himself be known to others since he had only been in the haven for two or three weeks at the most. No one would vote for someone they had never met before, so he got started on his campaign the moment he received the letter earlier that day.

The posters he made were crude at best. A single sheet of paper with a picture of himself with his name, and a little slogan underneath it all. He didn't make very many, fifteen at the most, since the camera he had borrowed from one of Loki's friends had run out of film. At least the girl was nice enough to let him borrow it. Dominic would find a way to repay her later.

He went around the town, putting up his campaign ads in the places with the most people - the cafe, the restaurant, the candy shop, Town Hall, the combat gym, and finally the library. It would be his last stop in town before he made his way over toward the different cottages. The siren stood in front of the bulletin board that was placed near the library's entrance - anyone who went in-and-out of the library would definitely see his poster. Dominic knew the power of subliminal suggestion went a long way, and as long as his name was in the back of people's minds they would surely keep him in mind as they voted.

He stepped back to eye his 'masterpiece', and smiled. He was the first one to get any posters up in Elysium, and that would surely make a difference in the end.

Daiyu was skimming the library in search for books her sister had asked her to pick up. She was bored, so instead of telling her sister to it herself, the psychometric gladly decided to take a walk to the library from the art shop. Along the way she had seen posters for a man campaigning to be on the Vice Council. She had a feeling that she was going to see more and more of these posters as the days progressed and not just of this man.

When she turned the corner, she saw the man that she believed was the person on the posters plastered all over the town. “Well, gee. You’re better looking in person.” She teased towards him, finding one of the books her sister was looking for. “Looks like you’re determined to win. How many are you up against?” Yeah, she went to those meetings. But it didn’t mean she paid attention.

Dominic smiled at the girl who had appeared out of nowhere. As far as he was concerned she was a potential voter, and he was determined to win as many votes as he could get. Did it matter that he would use his power to help sway the vote a little? Not to the siren it didn't - it was just another part of his strategy, and there weren't any rules that said he couldn't use them in the first place. He was curious though to see how far his own campaigning could get him.

"The camera adds ten pounds," he said with a smirk. "Dominic Powell," he said further to introduce himself with an outstretched hand. "7 or 8 of us were nominated," he answered, trying to remember. "Or was it 9." He crossed his arms over his chest, one hand reaching up to cup his chin in a thoughtful manner. Brow furrowed for a moment as he thought, only to shrug at the end of it all.

"Doesn't really matter I guess," he said finally. "9 or 90, I'm still going to work my ass off for votes. Know what I mean?"

Daiyu liked his determination and his sense of humor. To her, it was good to have that if you were going to be on the Vice Council. She didn’t want a hard ass on the board who took everything so seriously. She wanted someone who would take care of business, but would also know how to have fun. These were trying times after Kaiya and Faye’s murders, yes. But it was all the more reason to have a good time.

“Daiyu Wei. It is a pleasure to meet you. I’m just a boring citizen.” She thought about that for a moment. “Well, I am a citizen, but hardly boring. I guess I am too young to be on the council though which blows. But it’s a lot of responsibility. Something I think I couldn’t handle.”

She tilted her head for a moment and decided to ask him a question carefully. “I’ll tell you upfront that I am a Metahuman, but that doesn’t mean I am going to vote for one. May I ask what you are? Not that it matters, you can tell me it ain’t my business.”

Being in the Navy meant that you had to know how to take shit, and dish the same shit out. Having a sense of humor was a part of that - you had to have one otherwise you'd go crazy from all the time you had to spend out on the open waters. Luckily for Dominic he was a siren, and he didn't mind all the time they spent on the sea. He enjoyed more than most, and so it always put him in a good mood.

"Nothing boring about being just a citizen," he said with a smile. "It means you can sit back and enjoy the perks of what the government does, which will hopefully be a lot once the Vice-Council gets established." He crossed his arms again, nodding at the girl to show that he was listening. "It is a lot of responsibility, but you know, maybe in time they'll lower the age and you can be on it. Nothing wrong with a little bit of youth on the council, in my opinion anyway."

He chuckled a bit at the girl, not in a bad way, but just because he liked her candid personality. Dominic didn't hide much from the people around him, and if he did it was because it would serve a greater purpose later on. He had plans, lots of them, all carefully laid out, too. He couldn't risk fumbling on the path he created for himself, otherwise it could risk everything down the line.

"Well I'll tell you upfront that I'm a Siren." He smirked a bit. "And this is the part where I say 'no, we're not like the evil creatures from Greek myth.'" Dominic knew that myth painted Sirens to be women who lured men to their deaths when they were out on the ocean. It wasn't in the least bit true. Sure, they had the power to enchant through their voice alone, but that didn't mean they used it for underhanded purposes. Not all the time, at least.

Daiyu thought about Greek mythology the minute he stated he was a Siren. The thing was he was hardly bad looking and didn’t seem to lure people into the sea with this voice and drown them, or horrible thing of the sorts. Dominic even clearned it up right away. He seemed like a genuine good guy who was going to try and win through his smarts, good personality, good looks (yeah, she liked older guys, sue her) and his well thought out tactics. That alone would persuade her to vote for him.

“Hey that’s a good way to get the ladies you know. Just use your voice and the ladies are at your feet.” She joked with a smile, but turned back to being serious. “I think it’s good that you have a sense of humor and as long as you don’t cheat, I think you’ll land a spot. The people who take it too seriously don’t attract my vote. I find it too annoying. I mean why would I want someone on the council who’s going to worry all too much about the serious shit and not events and things. I would like to be safe yes, but we need some more activities here.”

She leaned back on a nearby bookshelf. “Not to mention, I would play dirty.” She admitted openly. “If there is an idea a competitor has an you think you can do it better, I would totally go for it.” Maybe that was just her. She knew she could be a teeth and nails type of bitch sometimes. But she figured if she thought she could do better than someone else, she may as well do whatever it could to get the position.

Dominic might not have led people to their deaths, but he did sometimes get them to do things they wouldn't have done without some coaxing. It came with Siren territory especially when he was younger and couldn't control it. It was a different story now - he could turn his power on and off like a light switch, and if someone became enchanted it was because he willed it to be.

"Believe me," he said with a grin. "I've done that before and it doesn't always turn out pretty." Dom could be honest of his minor discretions as a teenager. Hey, what hormonal teenaged boy didn't want to get as many girls as he could? Dominic didn't think he'd need to use his powers to get votes in this place, but it was good that he had that as a back-up. "Nah, I learned my lesson from that," he said with a hand pressed over his heart. "Believe you me, you won't catch me cheating." Not that anyone would be able to prove that a Siren had used their ability, but that was beyond the point.

He laughed a bit at Daiyu's comment about playing dirty. She looked the type - not that he was judging her by her looks, but there was something about the way she carried herself that told Dominic she was a firecracker compared to some. That trait probably came out more when she wanted something really badly. "That means having to do research on my competitors," Dom said with a chuckle. He leaned forward. "I'm lazy," he said quietly, like it was a secret. It wasn't true, but maybe it would get a laugh out of the girl.
