Saturday: November 3, 2007 Who: Nico [Narrative] When: Afternoon Where: The market place What: Reminiscing
This was where he met her. Right here in this spot in the small park. She was eating candy, and he spotted her right here. He sat down and started talking to her. Nico remembered that she was beautiful, with blonde hair that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight. She was enchanting, with her basket of candy and her glittering wings. Nico remembered that he wanted to spend more time with her, but he couldn't remember what had stopped him from doing so.
She was gone now. Like the leaves from the trees around him, she was dead. Except she wouldn't be back in the Spring. She would never come back, not from death. The half-sprite couldn't imagine why anyone would have done something so horrible to her. She was sweet like the candy she had given to him on the day they met.
Nico fought back the tears that threatened to fall. He had served as a pallbearer for her along with Zach and Adrienne, and he hadn't cried then. He'd be damned if he cried now. Crying wasn't going to bring her back, and it wasn't going to give him another chance at spending more time with her. He could've spent more time with her... he should've spent more time. But those thoughts were pointless now that she was dead, and it wouldn't make his feelings of guilt go away.
He sighed and pushed himself to his feet. He looked down at the spot he was just sitting, and he could vividly imagine Faye there, sitting cross-legged while she ate candy. Nico smiled, and pulled a piece of candy from the bag he was holding. A lemon meringue flavored chocolate, just like the one Faye offered him ages ago. He unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth. It was good, but somehow it wasn't as good as he remembered it. Nico felt a familiar catch in his throat, and he swallowed past it quickly. Kneeling down, he left a piece of chocolate there in her memory. Faye was gone, but at least Nico had a memory that would last for the rest of his life.
