Who: Loki, Dominic, and Guests
When: 12:00 PM
Where: The Tiki Hut
What: Loki announces the news of his departure to his friends.

With the winter weather setting in, it was less and less likely people were going to use The Tiki Hut very much. However, there were two events booked for today and one of them was Loki's very own get-together with a group of friends he had made while here in Elysium. It wasn't meant to be a big party, just a small cookout of sorts with a handful of people. Dominic helped with the barbecue, and Loki set up the drinks for the event on the bar for people to easily grab whenever they got thirsty.

There were no big decorations up yet, and The Tiki Hut looked like it usually did under the simple lights of the establishment. They weren't using the dance floor, and there wasn't any music playing. Loki and his friends secured a little corner of the bar and some of the restaurants' tables beside the beach with the barbecue set-up.

Everyone was here already, mixing and mingling amongst each other, while Loki walked off for a moment to talk with Mitsuko in private before they returned to everyone else. He was going to break the news of his departure to her first before he told the rest of them. Hopefully, she wouldn't storm off from him during the party. Loki wasn't sure how his announcement was going to go once he let it out of the bag.

OOC: Post any sort of threads you want below! Dominic wants to meet some of his friends, and group subthreads are a-okay. Loki is going to have a scene with Mitsuko first, but then others later!

Mitsuko arrived early for Loki's get-together. Even with everything that was going on, she was excited about spending some time with him. While they got to hang out sometimes, it seemed like their relationship had slowed to a crawl. She wanted things to keep moving with them. It was frustrating to her that things kept coming up between them.

She'd dressed simply tonight, the colder weather making her skimpier outfits less fun. She wore jeans and a t-shirt. With a scarf and some jewelry, it gave her a bit of a punkish look and didn't chill her.

She smiled when she spotted Loki, running up to him. She threw her arms around his neck and gave him a firm kiss on the mouth. "Hey there." She sighed. Her expression changed of one to a bit of regret for a moment. "Logan couldn't come," she said quietly. "He's.. Not doing well. He had a crush on Kaiya, one of the Faes who... Well." She gave a small shrug. Mitsuko had actually considered not coming, to spend some time with her brother. But he'd urged her to go.

Mitsuko took Loki's hand and squeezed it tightly. "I'm worried about him. But I... I don't know what to do." She shook her head. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to get down on you tonight."

Things had gotten slow between them, but Loki didn't mind the slow pace of their relationship. He hadn't known it'd been making Mits uneasy, or they might have talked about it long before now. As it was, the topic hadn't come up since things had been pretty simple and smooth between them lately.

He grinned happily when she ran towards him, having spread out his arms to catch her and return the kiss she planted on his lips. "Hey there to you, too," Loki said, the grin still there and a dreamy look in his eyes. He cared a lot about Mits, and it showed whenever they were together. He looked a little sad when she said Logan couldn't come today, but he realized it made plenty of sense because of the recent deaths. Loki would have postponed sending out the cards if he had known about the deaths in advance, but he'd sent them out before new spread throughout the haven.

Loki told himself not to be disappointed if only a few people showed up today. After all, there had been a murder and not everyone felt like having a party afterwards. It wasn't really a party, though, so Loki was hoping others showed up for it.

"That's okay, love," Loki told her. "I wouldn't want him coming out here when he's got his own things to deal with." He offered her a smile and cupped her cheek, leaning forward to place a kiss on her lips.

"I don't know what to tell ya," he said softly, a sad tone to his voice. "I wish I had some good advice, but I don't know what'll be best for him." Loki smiled, shaking his head. "No need to apologize for that. He's your brother. You love him. Got to look out for him, y'know?"

Mitsuko was too nervous to tell Loki she was impatient with the speed of their relationship. She'd already mentioned she'd wanted to have sex, but Loki had wanted to take things slow, get used to feelings being attached to physical intimacy. She didn't want him thinking she was a nymphomaniac (even if she was) or that she was only interested in sex with him. She was most definitely interested in a real relationship with him. But she desperately missed the more carnal aspects of dating.

Mitsuko felt content in Loki's arms. She'd been burdened for a while now, with Logan's problems, her strained relationship with her mother, Hayate... Just everything. It was nice to have a moment where she could simply lean against Loki and bask in his presence. She sighed deeply as she nuzzled her nose against his neck.

"I just wish..." She frowned once again. "He was doing so well. He was talking. He was getting out. He's made friends. And it seems like it's all gone to pieces with Kaiya... He's gone back to the way he was when he first got here. I--" She trailed off when Loki leaned in and kissed her. She enjoyed the press of their lips and her eyes fluttered shut. When he pulled away from her, Mitsuko had a small smile on her face. "Mm... Was I saying something?" It seemed much easier to put aside her dark thoughts when with Loki.

"I'm doing the best I can," Mitsuko sighed. "I guess that's all I can do, right?" She slipped her hands up Loki's back. "Maybe what I need is some time off from my worries. A nice break." She smiled at him coyly. "Can you think of anything that might take my mind off things?"

Loki wished he could help somehow with Logan, but he honestly wasn't sure what to say at a time like this. Death was a hard thing for anyone to face, but this wasn't an ordinary death. Two women had been murdered, and it was one of those things words couldn't magically heal, not even words from a mouth like Loki's. He may have had an ability to cheer up faces, but he couldn't pull someone out of the depths of depression. It would've been a handy ability to have, Loki had to admit, but it wasn't something that he or anyone else possessed.

He smiled softly at her when she lost track of what she was saying. "You are doin' the best you can, and that's all you can do, Mits," he said, his hands resting on her upper arms and rubbing them gently. He wanted to cheer her up, but Loki wasn't afraid his news was going to have the opposite effect.

"Well, I can think of somethin' to distract ya," Loki told her, reaching up to ruffle his hair in an unsure gesture. He stepped back to sit on the empty table beside them. They were away from the group at an empty end of The Tiki Hut. "But I'm not sure what your reaction is gonna be to it," he admitted with an uncertain, crooked expression on his face.

Mitsuko knew all she could do was be there for Logan. She couldn't push him into feeling better or getting out into the world again. All she could do was be a supportive big sister and remain by his side. Of course, there was no doubt she was going to do just that. She felt comforted by Loki's words and the gentle rubbing of her arms.

But she frowned slightly at the uncertain look on Loki's face. "Eh?" She stepped towards the table and sat down with her boyfriend. "What's going on, Loki?" She worried her lower lip, knowing if something wasn't all right with Loki then it must be bad. He rarely if ever let things get to him. "Is everything all right?"

"Well, it's nothin' bad," Loki assured, looking over at Mitsuko. "It's just something I realized I need to do lately." Loki chewed on his lip, more hesitant than ever to say it. He knew their relationship was becoming a slow one as of late, and he wasn't sure what sort of effect the news would have on Mits. He hoped she'd understand he wanted to see his family again, though, and that was all Loki could really hope for. "I miss my family," he said, laying a hand on Mitsuko's knee. "I want to visit them. Me mum and me pa."

He was looked down at his lap before raising his eyes to hers again. "Uncle Dom's here now, and he made me think of how much I miss 'em. And they're still out there. I want to see 'em again, go out and visit them for a little while. I'll only be gone a month or two, and I'm not even leaving right now. I'm not heading out 'til next year. I want to spend the holidays here with you and all the other little buggers," Loki said with a grin. The grin faded into a soft smile, then. "I do want to visit them, though, and it's going to be a long route by ship. I can't leave now even if I wanted to, which I don't, because they're cutting off haven travel because of . . . the murders. They don't want anyone getting out."

Loki wasn't sure what else to say, but announcing it now while it was on his mind seemed best than waiting too long. Loki didn't want to let everyone know at the last minute. "I didn't want to tell everyone just before I left. I wanted to say it now. Last minute news never makes anyone happy."

Mitsuko had been holding Loki's hands as he spoke, but when he said he was leaving, she pulled them away abruptly. It was out of shock more than anything else. It felt like she had been punched in the gut. She understood Loki's reasons. While she wasn't close to her family, she understood that others were and it was important to go see them.

But it was in that moment, Mitsuko suddenly understood her relationship with Loki. She cared about him. She even thought she might love him. But it wasn't working. They rarely saw each other, they both had so many other things they had to focus on and they didn't seem to be on the same wavelength. Tears began to slid down Mitsuko's cheeks. She didn't even realize it at first. In the back of her mind, she realized she'd been thinking about it for a long time. It was just now, knowing he was going to be leaving, that she could finally admit it. It seemed she spent most of their relationship angsting over how it was progressing.

"I understand," Mitsuko whispered, her voice shaking slightly. "I mean... They're your family. And most people like their families and want to make sure they're okay." She bit her lip. "Loki... You know... I really like you. And I really wanted this to work out." She swallowed hard. "I don't think I can be with you anymore." She felt a wrenching in her heart as she spoke the words. "You left for two weeks and it felt like forever to me. And I hurt both of us by kissing Irei."

She touched a hand to Loki's cheek. "I'm not telling you not to go, I know you have to... But if you're going to be gone for two months, I can't sit around waiting for you to come back. Things are still so new between us and... Maybe I'm just not built like that. I'm selfish and impatient and..." She shook her head. "I'm terrible, I know... But if you leave... I can't say I wouldn't be tempted by another guy. And that this time, it might not go farther. I don't want to hurt you like that."

She moved her hand from Loki's face and looked down, the tears falling freely now. "You must hate me. I... I wanted to be better for you. To be the girlfriend you deserved. And the longer we do this, the more I think I'm just going to end up hurting both of us in the end."

She covered her face with her hands, ashamed and heartbroken.

Mitsuko alarmed Loki with the way she pulled away her hands away, but he kept speaking because it was something he had to say. When she finally spoke, he was happy that she understood, but he felt there was something else she was going to say. And he wasn't sure if it was going to be good.

The bottom of his stomach dropped out, and Loki had to admit he was surprised to hear this from Mits. But he should have known. If two weeks was hard to deal with, then a month or two would be like torture. He figured he understood, but Mits didn't want to wait for him and that was the big thing he noticed right then. She didn't really want to be with him if she was looking for something to fill the voice by her side, not have him as a boyfriend. Loki could accept it, but it didn't make it hurt any less.

He nodded his head, though. She didn't need to explain. Loki knew what she meant, and maybe it just wasn't the right time for them. He could live with that. "You don't have to explain, love," he said in a quiet voice. "I know what ya mean. I probably should have figured before I told you, but I guess part o' me was holdin' out for something else." Sometimes Loki could be a bit of a dreamer, and it didn't do him much good most of the time.

"I don't hate ya, Mits," Loki said, and he wrapped his arms around in a hug, swaying a little back and forth. He pulled away a moment later to look her in the eyes, a barely there smile forming, even though his eyes were sad. "I care about you, you know that, and you care about me. We don't need all this if it's not right for us right now. Maybe some other time, or maybe not, but it doesn't mean we can't be friends, yeah?"

Loki still wanted to be friends, and he clung to the hope that they could be even after all this.

Mitsuko sniffled, still having trouble meeting Loki's eyes. He had warned her. When they first got together, he'd told her about his wandering spirit. That he liked adventure, travel. But they'd never talked about her nature. "We're both wandering spirits," Mitsuko whispered softly. "That's what we liked so much about each other."

But while Loki went from place-to-place, she went from person-to-person. To avoid attachment. "You're not going just because of your family.... It's in your nature. Adventure. Travel. Staying in one spot goes against who you are." She bit her lower lip. "Waiting for you to come back goes against who I am. Maybe my nature isn't the best but..." She smiled sadly at Loki. "I gotta be me."

Mitsuko closed her eyes as Loki hugged her. She took in his scent, wanting to take comfort in him. She tried to avoid attachment, but she'd fallen for Loki. She'd wanted things to work out. But their very natures were working against them. Loki couldn't stay and Mitsuko was certain she would betray Loki if he left.

Mitsuko kissed Loki. It was desperate, hungry... She wanted to hold onto the feel of him for just another moment. "Of course we can be friends," Mitsuko assured Loki. She played with a lock of his hair, which had come out of its ponytail. "You are one of the best people I know, Sailor. I want you in my life, even if we're not..."

She looked up at him, her eyes still shining with tears. Part of Mitsuko was glad he was accepting this so easily. Another part of her wished that Loki would protest, say he wanted to be with her, fight to keep her. But she knew he wouldn't. "Thank you," Mitsuko said quietly. "I really liked being your girlfriend."

She was probably right about that. They were both wandering spirits, and maybe that was the reason they were attracted to each other, but it didn't make for a happy ending. Neither of them were very good with pure attachment, and Loki wasn't so dense that he couldn't see that amidst it all. He smiled at her, and it reached his eyes. "You gotta be you, and I gotta be me," he said. "I guess that's just the way we are, eh?"

It wasn't like Loki to fight for keeping someone around if they weren't trying to fight with the same degree to keep him. While he was a wandering spirit, it wasn't as if he wouldn't come back faithful. It if wasn't enough for her, then that was just how things were and he wasn't going to push it. He didn't want her to get hurt from him leaving, and himself to get hurt when it came back, so letting go seemed like the best option. Fighting for something that probably wasn't going to work out didn't strike the muse as a good option. The possibility of causing more pain just imminent on both ends.

"And I really liked being your boyfriend," Loki admitted, giving her a small kiss upon the nose. "If it's just not right for us now, then it's just not right. I gotta see me family, though. It wouldn't be right not to, and it wouldn't be right to ask you to sit around and wait on me when things like this come up. You gotta be free. I can't lock you up." It was the truth, even if it was a little hard to admit.

He patted her leg. "We'd better get back before they think something went wrong," he said slyly, smiling.

Mitsuko and Loki (I think Loki can wrap it up)
[info]foxylady
2009-01-02 07:14 pm UTC (link)
Mitsuko wasn't any happier than Loki at this end to their relationship. But it was probably the best outcome they could hope for, given the situation. Better they end things now mutually, as friends, then to drive themselves apart with resentment and hurt. At least like this, they could be friends. Maybe later, after some time, they could try again. Their relationship had started so quickly, when they were both still getting used to the Haven. Maybe after they got comfortable with who they were in this new enviroment they could attempt a better, more solid relationship.

"Who knows what will happen in the future," Mitsuko said softly, now smiling at Loki. There was still a bittersweetness in her expression, but she held onto the hope that things might be better in the times to come. "I know you gotta do this. And I'm really happy for you, Sailor. You're lucky to have people you'd be willing to go halfway around the world for." Her smile grew a bit as she thought about her half-brother. "I'm starting to understand what that's like."

Mitsuko let out a small laugh at Loki's comment. "Well, I actually think they'll probably think I'm trying to lure you into bed." She got to her feet and held out her hand to Loki. "But you're right... We should get back there."

As they walked over, Mitsuko looked up at Loki with a mischievous smile, her trademark look. "You know, when you've got your boat set up, come find me and I'll help you celebrate. I won't even steal it this time." It was part joke and part letting Loki know that even if they had broken up, things were going to be all right between them.

Loki grinned at the mentioned of a celebration once the journey went underway as they made their way back to the others. "That sounds like a plan to me," he said with a smile, laughing as she jokingly promised not to steal it this time around. "I don't think ya'll get a chance to steal this time around, Mits. Why, there'll be people all around and I'll have to be sober to drive the thing!"

The muse glanced over at Mitsuko and gave her a pointed look. "O' course, unless you get me drunk off my whistle 'cause that's a whole other story." He grinned brightly to show he was jesting right back with her, and in no time, they were back with the small group. At least things hadn't been a disaster, even if they were sad for the time being. Loki was glad to keep their friendship despite it all.

Loki & Group - The Announcement!
[info]lokithemuse
2009-01-02 04:09 am UTC (link)
Though breaking the news to Mits had brought down most of Loki's chipper spirits, he put on a happy face and tapped one of the forks against a crystal glass from the bar. "Aye, listen up!" Loki called playfully, grinning from ear to ear. "Listen up, everybody! It's time for me announcement! I know you all are enjoying the refreshments and good ol' barbecue by Uncle Dom, but I'm gonna have to pull ya away from that to make an important announcement!"

Once he had everyone's attention, he stopped clinking the fork against the glass and set both of them down. "Come new year, I'm goin' to have to depart from ya lovely folks and go visit me parents in the Bahamas. I haven't seen them in a long time, and I miss 'em a lot. Ever since haven travel opened up, it's been on me mind. I can't go now, obviously. Things are a bit tied up at the moment, and the ships are settin' sail in or out, but I wanted to let everyone know before I took the plunge. I'll be spendin' me Christmas here with you lot and lovin' it, but come January I'll be off for the Bahamas on me very own ship with a crew and all. Least I hope they'll give me crew," Loki joked with a laugh. "At this rate, I may not get me one."

He cleared his throat for a moment, looking out at the faces around him. A few close friends and what family he did have here, and that was all he needed with him 'til he left. "And that's all! I hope you liked the free lunch cooked at the expense of Uncle Dominic!" Loki gestured over to his uncle and laughed as Dominic waved with one of the cooking utensils in his hand.

Loki & Group - Nico's reaction
[info]foolintherain
2009-01-02 10:03 pm UTC (link)
Nico wasn't surprised when Loki said he was leaving. He sort of expected sooner or later. Truth be told, the only thing that did surprise him was that it took so long for Loki to decide to leave. In the time that Nico had known Loki, the muse had become one of his best friends. Of course, he would miss him, and miss the fun times, but his departure didn't mean they were going to stop being friends.

Nico went up to Loki and clapped him hard on the shoulder. "I bet the Bahamas are nice this time of year," he said with grin. "Lucky bastard." He chuckled a bit and then pulled Loki in for a quick, manly hug. Nico pulled back, smiling. "Let me know if you need help setting up ship," Nico offered. "And who knows, I might decide to go with you."

It was a possibility in Nico's mind. Though his family wasn't in the Bahamas, the Galapagos Islands were just a hop, skip, and several thousand mile jump away. They could make a trip of it, and now that he was thinking about it, he actually wanted to do it. As spontaneous as Nico could be, leaving Elysium wasn't something to be taken lightly and he'd have to give it a lot of thought.

He looked back at Loki, a little sad that his friend was leaving. But at least it wouldn't be for a couple of months which left them more time to create more memories.

Loki & Group - Zach's reaction

Zach liked Loki, even if they didn't always get along, and he was happy to hear that Loki decided he wanted to go visit his family. To tell the truth, Zach would have done the same if it was his family. Although unlike Loki, Zach would've taken his girlfriend with him. A part of him suspected Mitsuko wasn't going to go with Loki because she still had her brother to look after. Zach thought of Logan and frowned, knowing he wanted to stop by and see how Logan was doing. First, though, he thought Logan needed his space for a little while. He could visit him tomorrow.

He grinned as Nico said the Bahamas were probably nice this year, and they probably were nice. When Nico offered to go with Loki, though, Zach decided to call out a loud protest. "Oh, the betrayal!" he shouted, laughing all the while. If Nico wanted to go, that was up to him, but Zach knew he'd miss his best friend. "Betrayal!"

Zach took a drink from his cup, enjoying the small barbecue with some familiar faces around him. It was cool to meet Loki's uncle, Dominic, though Zach doubted the blood relation. He wondered if they were even related by marriage, but neither Loki or Dominic seemed to be divulging too much information about that.

Scooping up another nacho, Zach dipped it in the sauce and munched away, content for now to be among old friends.

Loki & Group - Mitsuko's "reaction"

Mitsuko smiled as Loki made his announcement and his former roommates made their reactions. It was probably obvious to most that Loki had been telling her about his trip while they were off together, but none of them knew the other part, the part where they had broken up. This wasn't the night for such news to come out. Soon enough, it would spread amongst their friends that they'd ended their relationship. But for now, it was a time to celebrate Loki's good news.

"I'd tell you to have a blast, but I figure that goes without saying." Mitsuko smiled at Loki before giving him a kiss-- on the cheek. It was time to do the platonic thing. "I'm really happy for you." And she meant it. She was happy for Loki. This was what he was supposed to do. "But you better be careful, all right?"

She felt a sadness inside her as she looked over at her now former boyfriend. She bit her lower lip, wondering what she was supposed to do now. She looked around, hoping to see Adrienne. At a moment like this, she really needed to be with her best girl friend.

Adair knew Loki was up to something the night of Halloween when they were dressed all killer and were getting trashed. Though he would miss him, he was more than happy for him. Seeing family was what counted most and he applauded his choice.

The psychic was quick to go up to him and rise to his tippy toes to pat him on the back. “Dude, best wisses, mate. Please send me a gift so I can be jealous of you? Anything but an air freshener is fine. I already have one that is Bahama breeze scented. Maybe send me a coconut? A hot Bahama-mama? I’ll also take any gold you may find along the way.”

Taking it to a serious level, Adair smiled lightly. “I wish you the best of luck, but if you need help with anything-you let me know. I may be lazy at times. But not when it comes to good friends.”

Adrienne was sad to hear that Loki was going to leave them. She had been friends with him for quite some time now, and he was always so much fun to be around. Of course, none of that would change when he left and they would still be friends when he came back, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be missed. She smiled at him and walked up to the muse to give him a hug.

"This means I'll have to get you a going away present," she said with a smile. The werewolf already had something in mind, but she wasn't going to tell him that. Anyone who was friends with Loki knew that he had a wandering spirit, that his feet couldn't stay in one place for very long. "Don't be a stranger, though! Going away doesn't mean to get to stay away forever." She hugged him again, and gave him a kiss on the cheek before she went to find Mits. The kitsune was probably dealing with the announcement a bit hard, and Adrienne figured she'd need a friend to talk with.

The priestess stood back a ways as Loki made his announcement. She had sensed that this was coming, and so she was not as surprised as some of the other people had been. She watched as one-by-one Loki's friends wished him their best on his journey. Some were teary eyed, others were smiling and making jokes. Theora could not help but think that the muse was very lucky to have so many people care for him, and she knew that his presence would be missed by those at the haven.

When a free moment presented itself, Theora approached Loki. She was smiling serenely as she bowed her head in greeting. "Whatever you need for your journey, Loki, consider it done. We will prepare everything you need, even a crew." She sighed deeply, and then reached a hand out to the man's shoulder. "We will miss you here," she said quietly. "Just know that you will never be far from my thoughts or my prayers." She pulled him into a gentle hug, and cast a silent blessing upon him as she held him in her arms.

Loki & Group - Dom's reaction

Dominic had taken a station behind the barbecue as promised to Loki. He was in charge of cooking for everyone, making burgers, hot dogs, ribs, and some of his famous "Cajun-BBQ" chicken. There was plenty of food for people to choose from, and everyone seemed in good spirits even with the news his god-nephew delivered. The announcement made it all the more concrete, and Dom breathed a sigh of relief. At least the boy wouldn't be changing his mind anytime soon.

"Burgers for everyone! Come and get it!" He yelled as he flipped over a few of the sizzling beef patties. The aroma lifted into the air, and wafted toward the people at the party. They came and went, taking with them the delicious food that Dominic was cooking up. The siren was smiling, happy to have met the people important in Loki's life. He could see why his god-nephew liked them, they were good people. It gave him something to be invested in now, and though he wasn't looking for that he couldn't escape it. He'd do his best to keep them safe, though, that much he could promise.

Irei had wondered over to the Tiki hut. He never really knew what hours the place was open, but that was probably because he had never bothered to inquire. He just knew he wanted a drink. He hoped they would give him something from behind the counter. A fruity cocktail was certainly not what he needed. He lit a cigarette and let the poisonous nicotine sooth his frazzled nerves.

Kaiya was dead. He had certainly thought about calling upon her spirit, but he didn't know if she was resting peacefully or not. He didn't want her to suffer more than she had at the hands of whomever had killed both her and Faye. Irei just wanted to drown out his emotions for a while.

He stepped through the sand and notice a group of people, some he knew, and some he didn't gathered at the establishment. He walked up and smiled a little. Mitsuko was there, as well as Loki. "Well what have we here? Looks like someone's having a party? Would you all mind terribly if I crash it?"

Irei went behind the bar and got himself a bottle of something he couldn't read the label of. "So you are leaving Loki-san? Do you not have some unfinished business? I have been waiting for your 'payback' with baited breath." He smiled at the best of his ability. No real laughter or smiles would be comeing from Irei for a while, but few people could tell the difference anyhow. This he hoped would provide at least a momentary distraction.

Loki was a bit surprised to see the other man here, especially since he hadn't see Irei since their last encounter a while back. He broke apart from the group and made his way over to the bar, eying Irei curiously for going behind it and just grabbing something. He noticed the demeanor of the other man and wondered what was wrong. "Nah, not a party," he answered, resting his palms on the bar. "Just a get together with some friends."

The muse raised his eyebrows. "Y'know, ya could've asked me to get ya a drink. It is me bar," he said. Loki didn't like it much when people who didn't work there went behind it without his permission, especially since there was some stealing going on lately. Loki didn't serve unless people asked him, and they weren't allowed to go behind the counter and just grab something. It wasn't like the muse to make a big deal out of it, though, and he didn't. He just pointed it out to the other man. "I may be with some friends, but I don't mind pourin' ya a drink. You just need to ask first." Loki looked pointedly at Irei, meaning he didn't want the other man going back there without permission again.

Aside from that, Loki didn't mind the presence of the other man here. He wasn't crashing too much since it was small, anyway. "Yep," Loki said, leaning against the bar and letting out a sigh. "Not yet, though. Leaving next year," he revealed.

A little twinkle reached his eyes as Irei mentioned payback. Loki chuckled in reply, shaking his head. "Nah, I'm not botherin' with payback. I might have before, but a lot of things have been comin' up lately. Got enough on me plate." And he did. Now that he and Mitsuko weren't an item anymore, it also didn't matter what she had done with Irei.

"Ah well, it seemed like you were busy with your friends. Did not want to bother you." Since they no longer lived in a capitalist economy, it didn't seem to really matter if a person who worked there poured him the drink or not. But if Loki had some reservations about it, which he obviously did, Irei would accommodate him. He slid the bottle over to Loki and walked back out from behind the bar.

"Next year is coming up pretty fast. There is a little less than two months left of this one, ne?" Irei sat down on a stool and leaned against the bar. "Ah, well I was not really expecting any sort of payback anyways."

Irei looked around the outdoor bar and then back at the Muse. "So what's going to happen to this place when your gone? Leaving it in the care of your employees?"

Loki smiled at Irei and took the bottle, walking behind the bar himself. He twirled the bottle in his hands and pulled out a clean glass from nearby to pour the drink for Irei. "I'm never too busy for a customer," Loki said happily, passing the glass to Irei once he was done and looking the other man in the eyes. He put the bottle aside on the counter in case Irei wanted to grab for more afterwards. He'd leave it out where Irei could get to it.

For Loki, next year seemed like a long time from now. He inhaled a deep breath, exhaling it a moment later. "Nah, not really. It feels like it'll take forever to get here, and forever for me to get back." Maybe that was just Loki's feeling on the matter, though. "Might be gone a while, I will."

Loki grinned again at Irei's reply to Loki's lack of payback. "Well, I was considerin' playing a prank on ya, but it comes off as a bit unimportant with all the other things goin' on. Mits is a good lady, anyway, and you're a friend of hers. I respect that, and the lady was torn over what she done. I don't really think it's right to hold things like that over people's heads, especially not someone like her. She's special." Mits would always hold a special place in Loki's heart, even if they apparently weren't going to work for now. It didn't mean they wouldn't have a chance again in the future, Loki hoped.

"Gonna leave it in Nico's care," Loki said with a nod. He brushed a hand over the counter almost lovingly, patting the surface. "He'll take good care of her."

Irei looked at the bottle from the corner of his eye and downed the glass Loki had poured the drink into. He wasn't sure how this wasn't exactly the same outcome from what he had originally done. He had lived in two of the most prominent capitalist societies in his lifetime, and although he understood the basic idea of the new system, something about this place would still confuse him. He set the glass down and pulled the bottle back over and poured himself another drink.

"If you say so. Time for me time does not move so slowly." Irei drank his second glass slower than the first. Despite Mitsuko's bravado, Irei had always thought she was a good girl at heart. "I agree. She is a special girl, and a good girl even though she would have others believe her to be something bad.” He almost finished his second drink and set the glass down on the wooden counter.

“Nico? I believe I have met him once before.” Oh yes, Irei recalled Nico. He had had his first impression of the young man at Emily’s birthday party where he had called Sascha a pedophile. While it may have been said in jest, just as a joke, to Irei, a non-native English speaker who normally dealt with the literal meanings of words rather than denotation, it had sounded very insulting toward his friend. Based on that first encounter, Irei wasn’t entirely sure he liked Nico very much. So it looked like he probably would not frequent the Tiki Hut after Loki made his leave of Elysium.

“You know, despite my look and speech, there is apart of me that is of Irish decent. A fourth to be exact. My great-grandmother once told me when I was very young that it is where my wildness came from.” He picked up the glass with the fraction of liquid still in it and tilted it slightly toward Loki as he repeated something an old Irish couple had told him when he had still been searching for his grandmother’s family, “May the strength of three be in your journey. Kanpai.” He downed the rest of it and set the glass down before getting off the stool to leave so that Loki could be with his friends once again. Before he left he looked over at Mitsuko, smiled at her, and waved.

"Things movin' fast then, 'ay?" It sounded that way to Loki, although he wasn't sure why. Of course, he agreed on Irei's perspective of Mitsuko as well. A little smile marked his face. "She tries too 'ard." It was true; Loki could see the difference because of how hard Mitsuko tried, not because she was bad at it or anything. She always seemed to stretch things out for herself.

Loki made a funny face of interest and amusement when Irei mentioned the Irish background and relayed what his great-grandmother said about it. "I didn't know you was part Irish," Loki said. "I don't know how wild Irish people are in general. I've probably got Irish in me, but I'm wild 'cause it's me nature. Mum and pa were different, not like me. They liked to travel, but they liked bein' settled down. I don't think I'll ever settle down." Which was the truth, it was in his nature. He couldn't get himself to be any different, and that was just who he was at heart.

"Leavin' already?" Loki called out, a little surprised by Irei's departure. "Ya only had one glass."

Irei turned back and sized Loki up. He walked back to the bar and sat back down. "Exactly how many glasses are you going to give me?"

"Ah, my grandmother was Irish American. During the war apparently my grandfather fell for one of the 'invading barbarians.' Needless to say, my great-grandmother didn't approve." He shrugged as he took hold of his glass again and held it out to Loki so he could refill it. "So you are more like a gypsy then? How would you ever think a relationship could work under those circumstances? Did you think you could change for Mitsuko, or were you trying to change her?"

Irei had seen a lot of women torn up over men. He actually had had women torn up over him as well, but he had always been straight forward in saying he wasn't looking for a relationship. Sometimes women seemed to think they could change that in a man, and normally they ended up getting hurt in the process. In Irei's mind that was their own fault. But every time he saw a girl crying all he could see was the image of his mother, sitting down, crying into her hands and leaning forward.

Irei was by no means a prince. In fact he had been guilty of breaking up with girls through text messages just to avoid that image. But Irei assumed that Loki had been serious about Mitsuko. At least that was the way it had sounded from the pretty kitsune.

Loki laughed out loud at Irei's comment. "However many ya want," he said, grinning at the other man. "Alcohol isn't any good as one glass, mate. Gotta try more than that to get anythin' out of it."

The muse liked to hear something else about Irei aside from what little he already knew about the man, which wasn't very much. He didn't get the impression that Irei was anything but an okay guy, which probably was half of the reason he held back from ever going through with a prank. Loki was long over what had happened between Irei and Mits, and he wasn't going to bring it up or sweat over it. They were good people in Loki's eyes, and that was all he needed to know.

He nodded. "Parents find a lot they don't approve of," he admitted. His parents were pretty flexible about things, but they had their limits like any other parents. Loki also smiled at Irei's next question when it was brought up. It was something people always asked him. "Yeah, bit like a gypsy, I s'ppose," Loki answered. "I like to think they can if the two people are loyal to each other, but it doesn't work for everyone. Some can do it. Some can't. People are different."

As for changing himself or Mitsuko, it brought a frown to Loki's face. "I dunno if I can change meself. Some spirits are just wanderers. I think I'm one of them. I wouldn't try to change Mits either. She is who she is, and that should be enough." Loki wasn't sure what else to say. It was never in his intentions to change her, and maybe neither of them could change. Loki wasn't sure. It was entirely possible relationships just weren't for him.

"Fill it up then. I have a pretty high alcohol tolerance." He set the glass on the counter and sat back on the stool. He glanced over at the group of people that were Loki's friends. Since living in this place Irei had come to know quite a few people. Some he even really liked and felt affection for like Emily and Mitsuko, but he was reluctant to think of them in the same respects he held for Sascha.

Irei shrugged. "I know little of parents. Mine were not exactly 'there for me' as they say in English." He rested his head on his hand and looked a little bored. "I was only in their care for a few years before they abandoned me anyways."

"People can change, if they want to. I find most do not want to because it takes effort and selflessness." He shrugged. Irei was hardly bothered to change for anyone, and he certainly wasn't planning do anything like that for anyone, even since Sascha had forced him to change slightly.

Loki filled up Irei's glass again with a smile on his face all the while. If Irei had a high alcohol tolerance, then that was something they had in common with each other.

The muse frowned at Irei's honesty about his parents, but it was hard for him to imagine parents like that. He knew they were out there, of course, but it didn't mean Loki knew how to relate or understand what it felt like for someone like Irei. "I'm sorry, mate," Loki said softly. "I can't say I know that feels. Life turns out different, though, when you're raised that way." However, Loki smiled again and grabbed for a bottle beneath the counter. He popped it open, clinking it against Irei's glass. "You turned out a good man, though. Just remember that," he said, nodding his head before taking a swig. "It says somethin' if you can do good without parents, y'know? I think I'd have been a mess without mine."

It was true that people could change, and Loki knew that as well. He just didn't know how much or what it took to change. All of Loki's life had been simple and kept together despite the events of now. He had an easy life, and maybe that was standing in his way like a big old rock. "Maybe it takes realizing you need to change? Figuring out what you want most and going for it?" Loki sighed. "I wanna go see my parents for now. I think it's the most important thing for me to do."

Irei looked at the glass, thinking about his own parents. He hadn't really know his father because his father hadn't really wanted to know him. He shrugged slightly and grinned at Loki. "That is sometimes a casualty of arranged marriages. Both of them hated each other, so there was not much love for me either."

"Kanpai." Irei clicked his glass as well, against Loki's bottle.

A good person? He took a drink. Loki even sounded like Mitsuko. She had called him a "good Japanese boy", although she may have actually meant it differently than the way Loki seemed to mean it. But the thought of being called a good man by someone who didn't even know him made Irei uncomfortable. "I am not sure that I have done anything worth being called good."

Sato-sensei had forced Irei to change as well. There have been a few times in Irei's life that change was called for, and never was any of them easy. "Possibly, but other times it takes another person to make you want to." He eyed Loki over his glass. "I take it that you have never met a person you were willing to change something about yourself for."

Loki tended to think most people were good at heart, even when he didn't know them. It wasn't necessarily a good quality as it showed Loki's naivety in matters of human beings, but it had been his view on people his whole life. Changing it at this point seemed nearly impossible. Loki smiled at him all the same. "Everyone's done somethin' worthy of being called good," he told Irei. "You may not even know it yet, but that doesn't mean it 'asn't happened."

It could have been true that it took another person, but if it took another person then maybe it wasn't natural for you in the first place. Loki had a tendency to think that way about things. The muse thought about Irei's question all the same. "Well, I tend to think people should accept you as you are unless you're bein' hurtful. Mum and pa always said I was a good person, and I like to think I try. Can't be perfect. None of us can. If you've got to change for someone else and not for yourself, then maybe it's the wrong choice to be makin'."

To the untrained ear, it might have sounded selfish, but Loki brought up a good point: people should accept other people as they were unless they were hurting others, and Loki had never done that sort of thing. He was a good person, just not the right person for Mitsuko; he shouldn't have to change for her, and she shouldn't have to change for him. If they clashed as they were, then maybe they weren't right for each other, and that was how Loki looked at it.

His friends probably thought differently. Someone like Nico would argue Mitsuko was the one who needed to change. Loki could promise faithfulness to his partner, even while he was away, but Mitsuko was incapable of that. The only thing a real relationship needed was that love and loyalty, and if you could wait for someone then you really did love them. If you couldn't, then it just wasn't meant to be.

"If you're gonna change for someone, change for your own good," Loki said. "Be a better person and rise above the odds and all that mess." He shrugged his shoulders. "It's all anyone can really do, mate."

He wiped the cloth from behind the counter over the table. "I got to get back to me friends, but you enjoy that drink." Loki flashed Irei a grin and dropped the cloth onto the table. After that, he left the bar and rejoined the group in the distance.
