Who: Dominic and Loki
When: Before sunset
Where: The Tiki Hut
What: Mixing drinks and catching up

The warm bonfires around the Tiki Hut served to heat the air all around the outdoor bar. It lent to the tropical theme of the area. Even though the air was chilly, the sky was clear and the sun was not marred as it began its descent toward the horizon. The Tiki Hut was littered with customers, but not so much that it made it hard to maneuver. It seemed as if people wanted to enjoy as much of the outdoors as they could before it became cold enough to freeze a witch's nipple.

Dominic wove his way through the small crowd, pausing a few times to dance a few steps with a honey on the dance floor, or to steal an unattended drink from a nearby table. He hadn't properly explored Elysium since the boat docked a week ago. The siren had spent most of his time cleaning up the vast ship and readying it for its next journey when it would leave Elysium. The schedule hadn't been set yet, but it would no doubt leave within the next month.

Dominic had only settled into his water bungalow the day before. He didn't have many belongings with him; traveling by sea was always easier when there was no cargo to worry about. He had a duffle bag of clothes and a few personal items; it was all that he needed for survival. He knew he could anything else he needed from the haven itself. Thankfully, the bungalow came fully furnished and he didn't have to worry about where he would rest his head for the night.

He sauntered up to the bar with a smirk right there on his face. He saw Loki mixing drinks and chatting up the customers. It had been a while since he'd seen his god-nephew and Dom was happy to just watch him for a few minutes. "Barkeep!" he finally said to draw the muse's attention. He leaned against the bar with his left arm along the counter. "A Long-Island... Stat!"

Loki was indeed in the middle of making a show for one of the customers at the bar, spinning shakers in his hands and pouring glasses full. Just as he tossed two of them into the air and whirled around to catch them behind his back, a familiar voice rang out and distracted Loki long enough to cause the shakers to collide with the floor and bust open to make a mess. It wasn't like Loki gave a damn because his eyes went wide as an unbelievable grin passed over across his face.

"No bloody way!" Loki suddenly exclaimed. "It's a snowy day in Tahiti!" The muse hurried across the distance and threw his arms over the bar to grab Dominic in a huge hug despite the bar in between them. "Uncle Dom!" He grasped the man for a lingering moment and finally let him go, clapping him on the back. Loki's eyes immediately searched the other man's face for answers, his grin never faltering.

"How'd you get here? Why'd you come? What's been going on with you all this time, yeah? Mom, dad? How are they?" A whole string of questions left Loki's mouth upon seeing his uncle again. It was hard to stop them, so much was brought to mind just by seeing the guy. Loki wanted to know everything and anything Dominic would tell him.

Loki's enthusiasm was infectious as always and Dominic responded positively to it. His face broke out in smile. His eyes twinkled like a kid on Christmas morning. His hands itched to get behind the bar to help out his god-nephew.

The siren noticed the customers staring at them, and he knew what was going through the minds. "Yes, ladies and gents, we are related." He reached for Loki from across the bar, pulling the muse close until their heads were touching. "Don't tell me you can't see the resemblance?" Dom let out a chuckle as he let go of Loki. "Wait, maybe this'll help." He rounded the bar quickly. Eyes were watching him carefully as he slipped behind the counter as if it were the most natural thing to do. He put an arm around Loki's shoulders this time.

"I think we look more alike in this light."

The people at the bar looked a little confused, and Dom arched a brow at them and then sighed dejectedly. He ignored the people then and turned to give Loki a proper hug. "I'll answer your all your questions just as soon as you make me a drink," he said while patting Loki's back. It was good to see his god-nephew. There were a lot of things that the two of them had to discuss.

"Ah, never mind them," Loki said about the confused onlookers after Dom had come around to the other side of the bar. The muse waved his hand dismissively in their direction and focused his attention solely on Uncle Dominic, more elated than ever to see the man he hadn't seen in so long. "Tell me how you've been!" Loki exclaimed, already turning around to fix Uncle Dom the Long Island Iced Tea he had ordered upon arrival. "I haven't seen you in months. You've got to let me know something. We can talk while I make ya Long Island, yeah?"

He knew people had come on the boats, and Loki had even showed up on that day to see how things were for the new arrivals. He hadn't seen anyone he knew that day, though, and so his stay at the docks involved helping them with the boat after all the passengers were gone. Part of him hoped he might see his parents on the ship, that they mighe come to see him. If haven travel was allowed, it only reminded Loki how much he missed his family and how much he missed visiting home.

Loki fixed up Uncle Dominic's drink and passed it to the older man, hopping up onto the counter to sit there and take a break. He folded his hands over his lap and looked over at Dom. "You gonna tell me now?" he asked, grinning like a little kid. He had a lot of questions, and he was just waiting to here some answers.

The customers at the bar left the pair to their reunion. If they didn't leave Dominic would have subtly suggested that they take their drinks elsewhere. That was the power of the siren, and there were certain situations that he did not hesitate to use it. He was careful with it - that was the lesson his mother taught him - but that didn't mean he restrained from using it altogether. The people left though leaving him and Loki alone to talk.

"It has been months, hasn't it?" Dom leaned against one of the poles and crossed his arms over his chest. He had come on the boats that arrived a week or so ago, but he had stayed upon the ships to prepare them for their following journey. He was a sailor at heart, and as a Siren he was inherently tied to the open water. He found it hard to leave the ships at the end of it all, but he had important work to do here in Elysium, work that included speaking with Loki.

"Where do I start-" he scratched his chin a little. He accepted the drink Loki passed him and sipped at it slowly. "Aaaah, now that's good stuff! Who taught you to make it so good?" He laughed. "Oh right, I did." He smirked and drank a little more. The alcohol traveled down his throat, relaxing him from the inside out. "I came into port last week with the shit ton of passengers," he said after a little bit. "Now before you get your panties in a twist, I didn't come to see you right away because I was helping out on the ships before they set sail again. God, it was good to be out on the sea. The waves crashing against ship, the smell of the salty air filling my lungs. It was fantastic! Makes me wish I was young again."

"Ya, been a long time," Loki said adamantly, nodding his head. "Months that felt like years." A big grin spread over his face. "God, I miss the Bahamas! Crystal blue waters, balmy weather all year long . . . easy place to miss," he added at last.

"Ah, get off ya high horse," Loki reprimanded. While it was true Dominic had taught Loki how to make the perfect Long Island, mixing drinks was something Loki had learned on his own. Uncle Dominic contributed more to sailing than drinks as Loki's own personality led him to find where the alcohol was in any given place and do wonders with it. He loved the party scene, and every party scene came with its alcoholic beverages.

Loki appeared affronted, making a face at his uncle. "Now, why would I get my panties in a twist?" he asked. He leaned towards Dominic to speak in a conspiratorial tone. "I don't wear panties." Loki leaned back into place, grinning like a fool. "I'm a boxers man, Uncle Dom! Even you know that, though I'm sure you don't want to." Of course, it was just like Loki to joke about anything and everything. Nothing was sacred around him. Absolutely nothing!

"Besides, I was helping out with the ships, too, and I didn't expect you to come here. Especially not without mum and pa, though it looks like things worked out that way. They must be helping with things back home, helping people out and all that. Altruism runs in the family, oddly 'nuff."

Loki snorted. "You sound like you wanna copulate with the sea. Not that I can blame ya, o' course, but it has to be said."

Dominic didn't take offense to anything Loki said. He knew his god-nephew well enough to know the jokes he made. Nothing was off-limits with the muse, and Dom wouldn't have had it any other way. He drank more of his beverage, wanting to feel the effects of the alcohol despite knowing that it took him longer than others to get drunk. He smiled at Loki and the unceasing smile upon his face. If he knew he'd have this sort of effect on the muse he might've come to Elysium sooner; but things kept him from doing so.

"Your mom and dad wanted to stay in the Bahamas. When they heard it would be winter here, they decided against the trip." Dominic smirked and set the drink down upon the counter behind the bar. "You should go back and visit them," the siren said suddenly. "They miss you. Plus, it would be a reason to get back out on the open sea." He drummed his fingers against the wooden bar. "It's up to you, o'course," he added as he looked Loki straight in the eye. "But I know you, and you're like me."

He lifted his drink to his lips, his eyes watching the muse all the while for some sort of reaction. "You can't stay in one place for too long. The sea calls to you, that's why I've always believed you were part siren somewhere in your family history." It was a joke, of course, seeing as Loki was one-hundred percent muse. But the boy had a love for the open waters like a Siren, and it was one of the reasons that the two of them got along so well.

Loki laughed at that. It sounded like something his parents would decided against traveling for in the end. Neither one of them were fond of winters, which Loki understood. They probably had enough of it from living so far up north for so long. "That sounds like them," he said, smiling as he thought about them. It had been just as long since he'd seen his parents, and the only difference was he got to see Dominic again first.

It wasn't as if the thought of traveling out to the Bahamas hadn't crossed Loki's mind. It did from time to time, but he knew it wasn't safe yet for traveling. At least that was what they told everybody for a long time, but if it was safe enough to send ships with civilians out to sea at this point, then it was safe for Loki to join them. He had a lot of friends here, though, and good memories on top of that. Not to mention, a girlfriend as well. It would be hard to pack up and everything and leave it behind, even if he planned on coming back again.

"I thought about it," Loki revealed to his uncle. "Thought about it for a while now. Just taking a ship and heading out west. I've been wanting to see them again. Bless all the people here, I love them, but . . . family's family, and I miss me mum and pa." Of course, there was the love for the sea and sailing the open waters, but every time Loki thought of leaving Elysium, he thought of seeing his parents again. It had been half a year since he'd seen them. That was a long time for Loki.

"There might be siren somewhere in me blood." Loki grinned at the thought. "Or something else in there, drawing me to water. Sometimes you're never sure what's in your bloodline. Things get lost or hidden, and I'm sure me parents can admit they don't fully know either." Maybe it had to do with something else entirely. Maybe a muse of comedy and happiness needed to be free, and the ocean was the closest thing to being free that there was out there. After all, humans loved the open waters as well. It wasn't just him or Dominic.

Loki's answer was exactly what Dominic wanted to hear. It was important for Loki to go to the Bahamas to see his family, and to leave this place. Especially if he had been feeling trapped by it. It wasn't that Elysium wasn't great since as far as Dom could tell, it was. But the muse was right, family was family and nothing came above that. It was the reason the siren decided to come here in the first place - to see the only family he had left.

He clapped a hand on Loki's shoulder. "It's up to you, Loki. If you decide to go, let me know. I'll help you set up your ship. Get all the rigging in place, and make sure you have plenty of supplies to last the entire trip." Dominic thought it was probably best for Loki to get out of Elysium as soon as possible before he grew to resent it, or even before something else happened. Either way, a trip West was what the muse needed and Dom was going to make sure Loki agreed with him fully.

"But we'll talk about that later. Now, we just need to catch up." He took another gulp of his drink, the smooth taste of the liquid flowed down his throat warming him up despite the fact that it was served cold. "So when am I going to meet your friends, hm? And girlfriend? I'm going to assume that you have one since something's keeping you here. What's her name?"

"If you think I should see 'em, maybe it's time I set sail and do so," Loki admitted. "The thought may have crossed me mind before, but it wasn't like they would've let me sail anywhere. Traveling outside of the haven was still out of bounds, but now we got ships going back and forth." To be honest, Loki didn't have anything really holding him back now from making a trip, even if it wasn't a permanent trip. He still needed to visit his family. Blood was blood, no matter how much he loved his friends here. It was inevitable he was part from them one day.

"I think that's something I should do, and you're help to get me ready would be great, Uncle Dom." It'd be like old times again, but Loki wasn't sure he wanted to leave right away. He still wanted to spend some time with Uncle Dominic, and he also had friends and a girlfriend to say goodbye to. Loki believed he would come back for them. He just wanted to pay a visit to his parents, and there wasn't anything wrong with that. Everyone would be waiting when he got back.

"Ya can meet 'em whenever you want!" Loki grinned when Dominic mentioned a girlfriend. "You always knew without me needing to say." It was true for a lot of things, but also true now. "Her name's Mits. Well, Mitsuko, but I like to call her Mits. She's a kitsune, so when she's a fox, she's got furry little mittens for hands and feet. She's absolutely adorable. You have to met her. She's one of the best women I've ever met in me whole entire life."

Loki had a bunch of things to say about Mitsuko, if only because it seemed like they were really trying to make it work. He never really been in relationships like that before.

"There's nothing stopping you now," Dominic said with a nod. "And the seas are as safe to travel as ever. Maybe even safer without any hidden subs lurking beneath the surface. Open waters for everyone to enjoy." He finished off the rest of his Long Island, even taking in a few pieces of ice into his mouth to crunch on.

All the talk about going out to sea made the siren want to leave right along with Loki. He knew the workings of a ship in-and-out, Elven or otherwise. Hell, all the time they spent sailing from the Bahamas out to Elysium would have given even the most green of sailors all the experience they needed. Dominic was just exceptional in the fact that he had experience from the Navy, and he was a damn fast learner to boot. But no matter how much Dominic might've wanted to go with Loki, he knew he couldn't. He had things to do in Elysium - important things that couldn't wait.

Dom was glad to hear about Loki's friends, and he was anxious to meet them. The more people he met in Elysium, the better. He had to build a network of friends, and what better place to start than with the friends his nephew had? "So you're dating a literal fox?" Dominic had to laugh a little while clapping Loki on the shoulder. "Well good for you, Loki, good for you." He sighed a little afterward. Loki seemed happy with this girl he was dating, and it made the siren doubt for a moment that his nephew would have the resolve to leave the haven at all.

"We'll have to plan a little get together then. At my bungalow. A soirée to end all soirées," he said with a smirk. "We can do it after Halloween sometime. I'll even cook for your friends." Dom raised his glass to his lips to shake a few more pieces of ice into his mouth. "Sound good?"

With the seas safer than ever to travel, it sounded like a bet Loki was willing to take with his eyes closed. It would be like a mini-vacation on the way to visit his parents, and then another vacation once he got there, and a final vacation on the way back. Hell, the whole thing would a vacation for Loki. His parents wouldn't send him off to do work, and they would just have fun for as long as he was there. There was a possibility he might want to stay for a long time before coming back to Elysium, but such was the way of Loki's mind. He never stayed anywhere too long, no matter who was there. He was a wandering spirit, a traveler, and nothing could hold him back.

"I'll just have to talk to the right people and let everyone know I'm leaving," he said. Maybe a large party, a farewell party, where he announced his plans to all of his friends here? It would prevent him having to visit them one by one in person, which would take forever and might be dreary. Yes, a party was the way to go out! It was Loki's style, too.

Loki never thought about it that way, but technically, she was a fox. "Yeah, I'm datin' a fox," he said with a laugh. "She's a real foxy lady, though," he added, nudging Dominic with his elbow. "Don't let her fuzzy exterior fool you! She got a beautiful form as a woman. It's real, too! It's not like it's fake." Nope, Loki had touched it plenty times before to know it was most definitely real in all of the right areas.

The muse grinned brightly at his uncle. "It sounds great, Uncle Dom. That's be a going away party to remember. I'll send out notices to 'em all after Halloween once we pick a date. It'll be a great way for you to meet 'em and me to say goodbye."

Dominic wouldn't mind if Loki didn't come back to Elysium. Not that he didn't want to see his nephew again, but there were things brewing that he'd rather have Loki miss. Dom knew that Loki would be happier out there anyway - the boy really wasn't the type to stay put in one place for long.

"Take your time with the good-byes," Dom said with a wave of his hand. "They're your friends, and it's important to keep those ties." Dominic felt a twinge of guilt for not suggesting that Loki take his friends on this journey as well, but they weren't his concern. As selfish as it may have looked to others had they known Dominic's true intentions, the siren's only concern at that point was his family.

A party was the perfect way to say good-bye. It wouldn't be as sad as it could have been, and everyone would have a good time. And like Loki said, it was the perfect way to meet all of his friends. Informal was the way to go; Dominic hated when things got too formal. Reminded him of the Navy. It wasn't that he didn't like serving, it was all the formality that killed him.

"Well, if you send out the notices, then I'll set up the party," the older man offered. "And if we're planning of a shit ton of folks, then we probably should have it here instead of my humble bungalow." He placed his hand over his heart and bowed in a courteous manner. He smirked at his god-nephew and then pulled him in for a hug.

"Damn! It's good to see you." And it really was. Dominic was happier than he thought he could be, and it was because he had found Loki safe and sound. The siren pulled away, and cupped his hand on Loki's cheek, slapping it lightly. "Let me get outta here, then. Got shit to see, people to do." He was joking, but he didn't have to explain that to Loki. "I'll see you later." He lifted two fingers up to his brow in a casual salute and left The Tiki Hut.
